Brushin on Belmont is great. Our kids love going to see Dr Bob and picking a prize from the treasure chest. Dr Bob has a great way of putting the kids at ease. The cartoons on the TVs at each chair help too.
My husband and I see Dr Monika who is also fantastic. She is very professional and gentle.
The office staff and hygenists are also very friendly and professional.
The office is well run to get you in and out quickly. -

I have only been here once. I haven't been this afraid since the time I had my wisdom teeth out by another dentist. Between the time I got my wisdom teeth removed and now, I've had dentists who were so good that I was starting to get over my fear.
I've learned my lesson when it comes to choosing a dentist off a list that my insurance provides me. Don't choose randomly!
Pros:
Clean, modern, wait time is short, and the receptionist is really helpful.
Cons:
The hygienist likes to jab and Dr. Monika scolded me.
I got a copy of my x-rays and ran as fast as I could.
I might have just had a bad experience, but this was bad enough to scare me away to make me never want to come back! I guess this isn't the place for me. -

We moved to the city a year ago and it was time to get my 4 kids in for a dentist visit. I heard good things about Brushin' on Belmont but I have to tell you...they blew me away! Everyone there was so incredibly nice and my kids just loved Dr. Bob!

A little history about me: Before I moved to the north side of Chicago, I went over 15 years without a dentist visit. I went through a period where I just could not stand doctors, dentists, or any kind of medical type person or office and I stayed away for quite a while.
I have now been under there care for a while now and I am finally getting my teeth into the shape that they need to be. It is still a work in progress, but I am well on my way to a healthy smile once again.
Everyone here is AWESOME. They did everything in their power to relieve my fear and I don;t even think that is what they were trying to do. I think they were just being themselves and being welcoming and that is all it took to help me get over my fear! -
Review from Molly O.
I like it here because my past two visits, I have had zero cavities!
Recent visits to another dental office (ahem, Floss) go like this: "you have 9 cavities, you are a bad person, and you need two root canals. That'll be $600." And then when I go to the endodonitst, they say "why would you need a root canal? Your teeth are great. That'll be $90 for this consult."
The office is nice, reception is nice, the dental assistants are nice, Dr. Govoni is nice. It's a win win win! -

I have been going to this dentist since I moved to Chicago, 4 years ago! I asked a friend where she went, and that's how I found them. they are incredible! weird, that I say that because I had some stuff cavities when I first showed up...but I have heard some horror stories from friends of going to shoddy Dentists who just were not properly caring for them and they found out after it was too late and they had issues with past cavities. I appreciate that my Dr. takes time with me, she never rushes out...I can tell she cares, and I have always had a very Thorough hygienist which can suck...but you know you want someone to do what's necessary...so, it's a good thing. I have pretty awesome teeth. I'm happy.

This place makes me want to smile. For several reasons:
A. The staff and Dr. Monika are cheerful, personable and pleasant to be around
B. No cleaning in a year just made me want to smile more (and why not after all the retainers, braces, and countless dollars my parents spent on a set of straight teeth)
Originally my appointment was roughly two months out when I made the initial call. I was put on a cancellation list to see if I could expedite my dental needs. SO for the receptionist...
C. Jennifer for being very persistent on calling me for earlier appointments (approximately 3 times) which got me in the office 2 weeks early.
They take appointment up until 6:15 so no special time needs to be taken off work which plays well with the 9-5'er. It's a quick walk from the Paulina Brown line stop if you are not able to drive. And the 50 bus runs up and down Damen.
Establishing primary care, dentists, etc in the City is a daunting task for a new comer. But this recommendation exceeded my expectations (thanks Colleen C.). -

Ok, Dr. Monika Govoni is probably the cutest, sweetest, most lovely dentist you'll ever meet in this world.
No, really. I am serious.
A 5-star review for getting an f'ing cavity filled!? Indeed. I love Dr. Monika so much, I give her 5 stars for poking me in the mouth, numbing half my face, drilling, and making me wear dorky protective glasses.
She makes chit chat like a champ. Even though she is busy and she is literally 9 months pregnant (due 11/29/2010), she is cheerful and asks about your vacation plans and your boyfriend and your smile and your life and your job and your teeth.
Beyond her expertise and excellent demeanor...her office staff is truly out of this world. They are courteous. They are punctual. They change the TV station to Extra while you get your cavity filled. They stock you up with toothpaste tor traveling and extra toothbrushes for house guests. They check with your insurance BEFORE you check out so that you know exactly how much you'll owe. They take credit cards. They joke around. They are ACTUALLY nice, and they work in a dentist office.
Reasonably priced, take a lot of insurance carriers, easy to get an appointment, easy street parking, next to Bleeding Heart Bakery, across the street from a park, great staff, GREAT dentist, quality care, TVs in every room....
It's my perfect dental fit. I love them. I'm gushing about a dentist, and I do not care. Do yourself a favor and ditch yours if you can't...mine is waiting and taking new patients. For now.1 Previous Review: Show all »

We like to call them the brushin' Russians. Ok so they are totally not Russian, they are Polish, but I love the rhythmic quality.
She got me in right on time and I was thrilled to see the office was extremely clean and sanitary. The dental hygienist was very friendly and was able to clean my teeth despite the fact that I was an incubus of viral infection during my visit. The cleaning was thorough and my teeth and mouth felt fresh and clean.
Dr. Govoni is also extremely nice. She came in and did the typical look over most dentists do, just to make sure all is good. She saw I had a chipped tooth and offered to fix it. I'm like, "you can do that?!" and she's like, "of course". No idea although not sure why since it's perfectly logical a dentist could fix a chipped tooth. No other dentist before had offered. I still haven't gotten it filled but I am planning on doing so toward the end of the year.
I would definitely recommend Brushin' on Belmont. Everyone there is pleasant and knows what they're doing and it makes going to the dentist that much more fun. -

I am not a big fan of dentists. I am, however, a huge fan of Dr. Govoni.
Scarred by memories of dental visits past (where yelling at me seemed the appropriate choice by many a dentist), I hesitantly made an appointment for a check-up and cleaning.
Dr. Govoni made me feel completely at ease. She was kind, skilled and competitively priced!
If you are an anti-dentite like myself, go see Dr. Govoni. She'll make you reconsider your stance.
BTW - Dr. Govoni is no longer at Dr. Blank's office. She is partnered with her husband at "Brushin' on Belmont", on the corner of Damen and Belmont. -

Dr Monika Govoni is the dentist for both my husband and me.
My coca-cola-drinking, flossing-challenged husband has perfect teeth but Dr Govoni did explain to him that they may not be perfect forever if he doesn't start taking care of his teeth. He likes Dr Govoni a lot, but the dental hygienist was really rough and his mouth was very sore afterward.
Dr Govoni and I had more of an extensive experience. I take very, very good care of my teeth but I have had a lot of decay. Other doctors have suggested that this may be due to my un-diagnosed gluten intolerance for so many years, but we will never know. Now, when I went into Dr Govoni for a cleaning and checkup, I had 2 small cavities and a super chipped tooth that needed a root canal and a crown. She took care of my cavities and the crown wonderfully. She referred me to Dr John Pawluk at Archer Dental Specialists for my root canal, where I was also well taken care of (see separate review).
My teeth cleaning was rough, but since I take good care of my teeth, I wasn't sore and never bled at all. But truly, the dental hygienists could be a little more gentle, even during my cavity filling. That is the only reason that Brushin on Belmont gets 4 stars instead of 5.
Dr Govoni is a wonderful dentist and has been good to me with all this work I have had to have done. I take care of my teeth, and she has given me more tips and ideas to help with the health of my teeth in the future. I feel like she is a partner in helping me have the best teeth possible. And that is a good feeling! -

Monika Govoni fixed my severely chipped teeth yesterday on a very short notice call. The artistry is really something -- you can't tell at all.
This is a nice small family run practice. I bring my kid here to see Bob Govoni -- my wife found him because he's actually got extra training in pediatric dentistry. It's clean and bright with very modern equipment as well.
I wish they had longer hours, but I think I prefer having people who know and remember my family and come through for you when it matters.
As to the other review, if I was a Polish dentist, I think I'd be insulted at being called the Brushin' Russian. -

Everything about my experience has been great.
The receptionist, Jennifer, was extremely knowledgable about how much the dental work would cost. She gave me a price quote before I made an appointment.
Brushin's prices were cheaper than ten other dentists I called in the area.
The experience is great, too. The facilities are super clean and welcoming, they have TVs in the exam rooms, and a dedicated staff who know what they are doing.
Dr. Monika is quick and thorough. She checked in with me during my procedure (two crown replacements) to make sure I was doing ok and didnt feel any pain. She also kept me updated on what parts of the procedure we were on.
I decided to add on some extra work, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in scheduling and making it all work.
I felt comfortable and well taken care of during my visits.
Brushin accepts a lot of different dental insurance plans, and takes most credit cards.
And they have an iPad in the waiting room to play Angry Birds on. So, if that doesnt do it for you, I dont know what will. -

The office was great. It was very clean and the best part about the office is that it didn't smell like a dental office. Jessica, the receptionist was polite and cordial. Margaret was a great Hygienist. She did a great job cleaning and wasn't too rough. Dr. Monika Govani did a simple once over and I was good to go.

A coworker recommended this practice; it has been a while since I was at the dentist and to say my experiences with dental work have not been positive is putting it mildly. The actual cleaning I received here was well-done and they have a great computer set-up for x-rays and keeping records on your work. The office is clean and the appointment was on time. Of note is their policy that their is a 48 hour cancellation policy or else you are charged $50.00.
The reason I am not rating this at 5 stars is that the reception staff's interactions with me were perfunctory at best. Margaret the hygienist was polite as was Dr. Monica but overall I did not have the remarkably positive interactions other folks that have reviewed had experienced. I will probably go back because the work itself was good. -

Excellent! My children are five and three and they have been going to Dr. Bob since they were each two. They love coming and it is NOT a scary experience. The office is clean and welcoming and the staff is very nice. We have been very happy with Brushin' on Belmont. Parking is easy and there is a fun park across the street! The little televisions about the dental chairs are a great distraction! I would hight recommend for adults or children!

Still love them! I have now recommended more than ten people and they all thank me for the recommendation. The only bad thing is the office is no longer offering Saturday hours. Oh well, I can get off work early!

Wow! Great cleaning! Dr. Govoni was super friendly and took her time with me. Every tooth got a lot of attention! I was there for an hour. She didn't try to sell me on her products like some dentists I've seen. The office is very clean...tv at my chair and very friendly staff. I highly recommend her.

Both Dr. Govoni's are great. My kids see "Dr. Bob" and love him, as do we. He consults with the parents ahead of the appointment and really listens to what the parents have to say. He is open to including our personal tips for motivating little ones to cooperate, and it's worked every time. I have a feeling that this special motivation wouldn't even be required because he is just that effective. Both of my children are very comfortable with him and his approach. My husband and I see Dr. Monica and find her equally as delightful. The office staff are friendly and efficient, and we have never had to wait more than 5 minutes past our appointment time....which is rare with almost any service. We feel fortunate to have found this family for our family.

I've seen Dr. Monika a few times now - for cleanings, a cracked tooth that needed a crown and 2 cavities. I have nothing but great things to say about all of my interactions and work done. I even switched my 2 children to this practice to see Dr Bob (husband and wife team). My kids now love going to the dentist. The office is very kid friendly, as is the staff - from the waiting room to the front desk to dental assistants to the dentist. The office is clean, modern, easy to park, friendly. They even have an ipad available to play with while waiting. My kids were disappointed they had such a short wait time! The dentists tell it like it is. I don't think they would ever try to up-sell on things you don't need or want. I've been to other dentists in the city and so have my kids (Tooth Fairy World). This is the perfect place for adult and pediatric dentistry. I've also never had much difficulty in scheduling an appointment time.

Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Govoni! He is wonderful with my daughter and I love that he talks directly to her and not just to me. He explains everything before he does it in language that my toddler understands. Great, great dentist.
