i'm one of those ladies (did i just call myself a lady????) that prefers to stay home.  when the old man married me- i was a party animal willing to go out 6 nights a week ("i don't roll on shabbos").  now i'm old and tired.  i don't like crowds, i'm too cheap to spend money and i just enjoy a quiet night at home with a bottle of dubonnet and a good book more than going out.  i like to live a simple life.

the exception to this rule is food prepared by ryan and katharine at bruno's.  i first tried their sinful desires at the broken record and would drag all my friends there to eat up their deliciousness.  then they left for awhile.  they still have great food at the broken record- so i continue to go there, but i missed me some rye and kat action.  then they popped up at bruno's.

so i've been a few times since they started doing their thing at bruno's.  and they for surely are, doing their thing.  the food is as good as it ever was...even a bit better because of the great surroundings and clean bathrooms.  things i've tried: oyster po'boy, wings, ribs, brisket, brussels, collards, fried green tomatoes and their whoopie pie.  everything has been amazing.

so even though most nights i'm an old lady sitting at home, covered in a knitted afghan sipping my lady beverage, i will always be game for traveling to the mission to party it up at bruno's like i was in my 20's again.

who's ready to go?  i am.

New southern food options.  Been here twice in the past week.  First time sat at the bar (there were two of us) and had a couple cocktails and couple appetizers.  The beet salad was delicious and the fried green tomotoes were good (not great...but good).

Second time sat at a booth (3 of us) and had a bunch of food to share.  The highlights were the chicken wings, Frito pie (perfect when if you are high), pulled pork sandwich.  The side dishes were really tiny, we had the greens and brussel sprouts, both of which were ok.  We also had the oyster po-boy which is also ok.  The parmesan fries are delicious, except they were luke-warm (we'd prefer they come out hot so the cheese can melt a little).

The reasons I'm a fan (4 stars) is not so much the food alone, but the  dimmed lighting, cocktails, and opportunity for good snacks in a lounge setting.  I would do 3.5 if I could, i rounded up because the bartender guy was HOT. The prices were not bad at all either.

Full disclosure: since the menu has changed quite considerably over here at Bruno's, I was treated to a nice bounty at little more than the cost of a tip for our outstanding server, Kaitlin.

We all know Bruno's as a fun place to shake a tail feather and grab some bottle service after 10:00pm on the weekends, but they now have a revamped food menu courtesy of Broken Record and Quince alums, Ryan Ostler and Katharine Zacher, and their new focus is down home, American comfort food.

While the genre of eats does, in fact, fall into that comfort food category with options like cheesy grits, collard greens and whoopie pies... I prefer to call it Urban BBQ. Their pulled pork sandwich and BBQ pork ribs are fantastic, but they have a certain upscale flair that isn't consistent with the Southern BBQ you're likely to find in Texas, Memphis or the Carolinas Sure, the methods of preparation are the same, but it's a far cry from paper plates, insect repellent and fly swatters on the Gulf.

Don't take that the wrong way, though, as Bruno's has a good thing cooking. They have an interesting approach to tackling an age-old style of eating. Heck, our nation's forefathers were grillin' up brisket and pulled pork as far back as the 16th century, so it's nice to see a fresh take on a movement that was around in a time when wooden teeth and missionary-style were still social norms.

Their menu has everything you could ever ask for when completely throwing caution to the wind when it comes to abandoning your diet. Fried green tomatoes, po'boy sandwiches, hushpuppies and pesto mac 'n' cheese are just a few of the high-caloric gems that dot their menu. I personally had an opportunity to indulge in their pulled pork sandwich, pork ribs, cheesy/spicy grits and collard greens with bacon. The ribs were huge and glazed perfectly with a sweet, yet savory BBQ sauce. While the animal proteins itself weren't completely fall-off-the-bone, it didn't take much effort to strip those bones of everything but the marrow that lives inside. The pulled pork was marinated in a sweet BBQ sauce, but was also dusted with a nice amount of spicy aioli that gave it a lingering kick. The sides were fantastic as well, with the collard greens being a standout. The flavor of brown sugar and hickory-smoked bacon that seeps into those leafy greens really makes the dish.

The vibe at Bruno's also really aligns itself well with this kind of eatery. It's dark with warm colors, cool music and a friendly assortment of folks ranging from employees, bar flys and casual eaters. The hodgepodge of personalities makes the hang just about as comfortable as the food itself. The prices are just right, with most items hovering in the $9-$12 range, with the most expensive offering being the plate of pork ribs at $16. In a city chalk full of overpriced restaurants, you really can't argue with the affordability.

Of course, once 10:00pm hits, this place completely transforms. Expect hip-hop, top 40 jams and bottles of Grey Goose on ice. Don't fret, though... as the staff are really good about alerting patrons about the flood of party animals at 22-hundred hours. It's actually not a bad way to start the evening if you're planning on shaking yer rumppppp-ah, because you can grab some BBQ'ed goodness before dumping booze all over your bloodstream.

Then, after eating and dancing all night with your boo, you can explain to him or her that a bear ate all of your clothes, except for a sexy assortment of boner jams and a pile of condoms. Or, not.... (sorry, bad Bruno joke).

Sweat. Oh yes, that's what this place smelled of, and not in the good way. Oh wait, is there a good way of having a sweaty bar? Maybe? I'm not sure, but this wasn't good for me.

Convinced friends to come here several weeks back to meet up with a friend for their birthday. There might always be a line to get into this place, but I'm not exactly sure why. It was crowded, dingy, and again sweaty. The drinks were alright. But now I completely forgot what we had ordered. And there was cover? Blah. Nevermore...

We stopped by here for a birthday gathering. They reserve a small section for you if you promise to meet a $50 tab. For a bigger section you need to shell out a lot more money. I heard about this place before when they were doing a 20s theme but when we went, they played hip hop. It was decent hip hop too none of that annoying MTV stuff that's shoved down your throat. We got in just before the end of happy hour but the bar tender still charged us the regular price. WTF? We asked before buying even. Not cool but we didn't want make a fuss because we did order five minutes before 9pm. There's a cover after 10pm.

I ordered the pomegranate champagne drink (regular price) that was pretty decent. The lounge area is nice but it gets crowded later in the evening. The crowd was diverse which was definitely a good thing. Get here early if you plan on sitting. There was no room to dance because there were lots of people but I dunno if people usually dance here anyway.

Also, if you bike or you're a male who carries a messenger bag, leave it at home. One of the birthday party guests got turned away at the door because he biked and had a bag. Lame but what can you do? I'd give it somewhere in the 3.5 range.

Just had dinner for a second time in 2 weeks at Bruno's.    What a treat!  (I've followed K&R since they started at The Broken Record.)

Bruno's has some of the same great food and some new items.  And to say the digs are better is an understatement.

Love the brisket, all the starters and the brussel sprouts.  Yum.  Same GREAT biscuits and the desserts are to die for.

Stop in.  Give it a try.

Bruno's has gone through quite a few changes in recent years. I came here a few times pre-renovation and always dug the old school vibe and great live jazz. Post-renovation, I came here a few times for Jazz Mafia Tuesdays. When the Jazz Mafia moved on, I didn't have much reason to come here. The food was never a draw- live jazz was always the main attraction.

That has all changed. I don't think they book live music anymore at Bruno's (although they do have some great bay area DJ's on some nights- notably B. Cause and Teeko). But, as of this past week, the food is officially a very good reason to put Bruno's back on your radar. Ryan Ostler and Katherine Zacher have taken over the Bruno's kitchen. Ostler and Zacher bring with them an impressive resume- having worked at Boulevard, Firefly, Range, Quince, and Serpentine, among other fine SF restaurants. Most recently, the couple's soulful cuisine turned the Broken Record- a well-loved neighborhood watering hole in the Excelsior/Crocker-Amazon- into a genuine foodie destination. Ostler masterfully mans the smoker, turning out some of the best barbecued meats I have ever had the pleasure of gnawing on. Zacher applies her impressive pastry skills to breads and desserts. Between the two of them, they turn out some of the best bar food in San Francisco. During their all-too-brief (8 months?) run at the Broken Record, Ostler and Zacher put the Excelsior back on the culinary map, garnering glowing write-ups in the Weekly, 7x7, San Francisco Magazine, Tablehopper, etc. Unfortunately, the pair burnt the candle at both ends for too long and decided this past summer to take some much needed time off. They went on a barbecue pilgrimage through the southern United States, and took some well-deserved personal time. Their loyal fans, myself included, waited hungrily for them to re-emerge.

And re-emerge they have, refreshed and recharged. I was lucky enough to attend a preview of their food at Bruno's last week and am pleased to report that they have not lost a step. The menu will be familiar to anyone who got to know their food at the Broken Record. The amazing pulled pork sandwich ($8) is back, as are Ostler's mouth-watering ribs and brisket. Both of these are available in plate form, with choice of several sides, for $14-$16. At the preview, Katie H. had the brisket and I had the ribs. Both were the finest renditions I have had anywhere in the Bay Area, hands down- subtly flavored,  melt-in-your-mouth, slow-smoked meaty perfection. Our sides- brussel sprouts and cheesy jalapeno grits- were also excellent. We also sampled some appetizers- a "BLT" salad and fried green tomatoes. The salad consisted of two grilled wedges of romaine with chunks of smoked bacon, tomatoes, and croutons in a delicious, spicy, creamy, dressing. It was something new to me and quite successful. The tomatoes were also delicious (but HOTT! - careful biting into these!) - crisp and juicy and lightly crusted in a flavorful cornmeal breading. The only missed mark of the night for me was the dill aoili that accompanied the tomatoes- the tomato's flavors were overwhelmed by the dill.  The vegetarian entree option was a stuffed artichoke, which looked delicious. There were also quite a few other appetizers and sides (Ostler's famous Frito pie, pesto mac n' cheese, etc.) filling out the menu.

For dessert, Zacher prepared a quince-apple tart and a chocolate-covered peppermint moon-pie. Of course, we had to try both. Apparently, the moon-pie is 100% house-made, including the marshmallow. I'm not sure if that means Zacher is stirring up a bubbling cauldron of horse hooves in the back, and I frankly don't care- it was delicious. The tart was a revelation- chewy, carmelized quince, perfectly cooked apple, and Zacher's impeccable crust.

They were still working out some service kinks at the preview, which was to be expected. Hopefully once they get a little more settled these will get sorted out. The food is so great though that nothing else really matters (and prices are the same as they were at the Record- i.e. very reasonable). Bruno's also has a very respectable wine and beer selection and a well-stocked bar. The chefs have a much bigger kitchen to work with than they did at the Broken Record and it seems to be a more comfortable space for them. Bruno's central location will inevitably bring Ostler and Zacher more well-deserved business and attention. Hopefully they won't overdo it, will add whatever staff they may need, and will stick around for a long, long time. For now, the kitchen at Bruno's is open 5:30-10:30, T through S.

Update: Went back Saturday night- lots of new menu items. Artichoke is gone but tofu sandwich, fried oyster po-boy, and chicken wings were back, along with some new salads and a new cocktail menu. Service was great. We were treated to an amazing amuse bouche- a savory/sweet bacon cookie! Yet another superb meal! (And rumor has it the epic pork belly plate will be returning soon...)

We came here because it was close to Cha Cha Cha's, where a group of us had dinner.  The name sounds kinda gruff, haha, but I found it to be easy going and not too shabby.  The line was short, bouncer friendly, and we paid 10 for cover.  They played a mix of hip hop, 80s, and a lil house.  Clean and not too crowded.  Upstairs was closed.  Bathroom small but not bad.  We kicked it in the VIP areas with no problems, the reserved signs didn't mean anything to anybody.  I liked how there were waitresses taking orders for drinks all around the place, so I had my share of lychee-pineapple martinis!  YUM!

It was fun to people watch with my girls, and its funny how you can see the dancefloor from the outside.

There are bacon-wrapped hotdogs from a stand outside!  3 bucks!

Sure, I would come back for an easygoing night with friends.. it was fun and I felt comfortable..  I really like the special drinks they have going on..

Came here on a Saturday night for a bday party - it's located within walking distance of Chachacha.  Overall, a decent place.  The drinks were ok, the music was ok to good, the decor was ok, and the bouncers/waitstaff were ok.  The drawbacks are: difficult to find street parking, and the neighborhood is run-down.  Reserving a table in the main room is supposedly free, based on availability. No cover until 10 pm, then it's $10.

Bruno's is  your typical post-college aged crowd looking to dance to top 40 beats.  It has a decent-sized front bar area with some seating and a few back rooms with more.   The front room plays hip-hop and in the back and around the corner you can dance to techno beats.

The crowd at Brunos ranges from East Bay b&t to mission hipsters.  You'll probably never see any Marina kids in here so the vibe is pretty casual.  I went to get my dance on and to prove a point...some tall white guys can really shake that ass.

The only downside to Brunos is the $10 cover.  I'd head back if I was in the neighborhood, but only for a few songs.

Good mix of people, fun music (saw some crazy dancing from drunk chicks), great space.  I had a nice night here.  Didn't care too much for the cover charge but my friend was wearing shitty clothes (didn't know we'd be going out) and he still got in.  Great depending on who's perspective.

I stopped in here last night with some friends because we heard they just started serving food again.  And not just regular bar bites but Southern food!  YUM!  We had the beef brisket, pork ribs, BLT salad, brussel sprout, fried green tomatoes and both the desserts!  YUMMY!  The portions are huge and waitress was super attentive.  I'd come back here again.  Oh, and they're remodeling so everything is super nice.

I felt like I walked into a western saloon located in the heart of a predominantly Latino neighborhood centrally located in a city that's a melting pot of mixed race relations. Wait. That's exactly what happened.

There are actually a total of 3 bars and a dance floor, all interconnected by a reserve-only room. They've also got booths (sorta) also lining one side of the establishment.

I feel like they make a great effort to split the crowd that wants to dance, and the other who want to just lounge and pour alcohol down their throats. Folks, you don't have to have someone's ass in your face when all you want to do is drink! Unless you dig that stuff. High five guys.

As for the crowd, it's quite mixed but alas, there is no way to escape the amount of asians unless you're playing reggae.

I'll just get to the part you want to know about first: there are a pretty decent number of hot women here.  My friends, my friends' friends, random Hottie McBooty -- they're all pretty fucking hot.  But... the guys, for the most part, leave a bit to be desired.  It's a good thing drinks are cheap; for us guys, buying drinks for women who have no intention of sleeping with you has never been easier on your wallet!

One thing I don't get about peoples' reviews is their insistence that Bruno's is a bit of the Marina in the Mission.  True, some of the folks there are the stuck-up bitch or striped-shirt douchebag types, but for the most part the crowd is pretty relaxed.

Get there before 10PM, get in free. It's pretty simple. Order a round for around $20-$30.  Repeat ad nauseam.  Then the blurry vision kicks in.

All that beer is going to have to come out sooner or later... uh oh, long restroom lines.  At around midnight, it's best to switch from beer to booze because you're going to have to wait for that asshole who checks himself out in the mirror every single time before you can take a leak (true story).  Sucks, but you deal with it.  At least the guy's line is shorter than the women's.

By that time, you have enough liquor in you that you don't give a shit what kind of music is playing.  Really, people are going to knock a bar because its playing mainstream hip-hop?

1AM rolls around and people start to congregate at the death dog cart outside. You're thoroughly drunk.  You and your friends had a good night at a good joint that plays danceable music, surrounded by mostly good people.  Good night!

I'm gonna go ahead and throw a scenario out there.

you're from the marina, but want to "branch out".  You've heard so many good things about the mission scene, but hey the mission is big and scary, and you're concerned about hurting someone with your popped collar.

Bruno's was made for you.  It's as if someone carved a little square out of the marina and dumped it in the mission.  Button downs and nice shoe's galore, $$ at the door, and a huge line to get drinks.  AH you're right at home aren't you.

In all seriousness, renting out the back room is actually a damn good deal for a party.  i did it for a birthday last year, and for 900 we got 3 bottles and a huuuge area to sit with big couches and chairs etc.  With that kind of elbow space (the place is packed) 300 a bottle aint bad.

I reccomend it for that, or if you're a douchebag with a popp-ed collar.

Bruno's is very fun and very central to a lot of places in the Mission. It is on point for dancing (you can make requests to the DJ). Shitty part is the $10 cover and the unnecessarily hot dance floor. All that said, I still love this place and I continue to frequent it on Friday nights. Girls --wear your hair up if you plan on getting your dance on. No joke, it's a sweaty mess.

Bruno's is one of the few bars that's on Mission where the drinks aren't overtly expensive and the crowd of people is a good mix of guys and girls. There's a $10 cover after 10pm, but I usually get into this place before then to avoid that.

Depending on their night, there's usually a special drink available at a special price under $10, though I usually just order light drinks and something fruity for my guests.

The staff and bartenders were nice and helpful.  There's about 4 bars in the place, with 2 dance floors, and plenty of tables. There's a loopy staircase that you should watch out for in this place, especially for those who had too many to drink that night (on a side note, if you had too much to drink, please do NOT drive and drop a few bucks on the cab!)  If you guys are lucky, there's a hot dog cart with fresh and hot hot dogs for you if you're hungry right after exiting this place, though I cannot guarantee the cart will be there every night.

Overall, the only drawbacks I can think of are: parking can be tough in the Mission, the surrounding area is not as vibrant as downtown nor the Marina, and the $10 cover may annoy some of you.  If you don't mind any of that, try this place on a Friday or Saturday night!

We somewhat stumbled upon Bruno's while we were waiting to get seated at Cha Cha Cha's. Our party organizer told us that our dinner started at 8:30 when in fact it started at 9:15 so we all went to Bruno's to get a couple of drinks before dinner. It actually worked out perfect b/c a group of us got stamps and didn't have to pay a cover charge.  We went on a Friday night so Happy Hour is ALL NIGHT LONG! Now, who can beat that?

Overall Good Times!

Walking in here was like walking into my freshman year of college all over again... that was 9 years ago... fuck.

The crowd is pretty young and predominantly Asian. The music in the lounge area made me want to dance more than what was being played in the dancefloor area so that kind of sucked.

Drinks were good and not overpriced and the bartenders were also really friendly.

I'd say this place is pretty decent, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here on a Saturday night.

I have never heard of paying $10 to get in to a bar when there was NO band... a BAR and NO band. On top of that, we were a group of 8 gorgeous women. I think Bruno's is having an identity crisis. The Mission is most certainly not Vegas.

Wait... did I walk into grandma's closet? Oh no, just Bruno's.

It felt kind of like a time warp walking in here. The dark lighting and the red walls lined with cushy seats. The mirror behind the bar with the drink specials written on the glass in an old English font. Bruno's had a distinct smell to it, kind of a mixture of fried food and grandma's closet. Not grandma's closet filled with moth balls but grandma's closet with the lack of moth balls. Essentially it smells like old lady.

No cover on Thursday night.

The bathroom is teeny tiny. Two stalls, pink and lacks seat covers. There are two rooms, one big room and the other smaller VIP room in the back. Good music to dance to. Ventilation seemed to be pointed at one spot and we were lucky enough to find that one sweet spot and stick with it. The speakers seem to be pointed at one spot also because when I walked by one area, I lost all hearing.

Overall, a nice place to go on a Thursday night, it is definitely not like Holy Cow Thursdays, but it can compare. I'll definitely be coming back.

I went to Bruno's for the first time this past Saturday for a coworker's bday. I don't venture into the Mission at night too often but Bruno's is a pretty cool place, so I wouldn't mind going back. Even though the parking sucks ass and there are way too many mexicans hanging around the streets at 2am for comfort, the crowd and atmosphere is what would draw me back. I've been to way too many asian clubs to know that there is a 85% chance you will bump into someone you know, so the diverse crowd here is definitely a plus. The choice of music was a bit strange and not very well put together, but I think it was mainly because the dj sucked that night.

I paid $10 cover to get in but I believe it's free before 10PM without having to get on a guestlist. The lax dress code is also nice, I wore chucks and a tshirt and I fit right in. I know the dress code is usually more strict for guys but I saw guys with chucks and a tshirt even though the website says dresscode enforced for guys.

We were here on a Saturday night.  It was fun, however the music on the dance floor was seriously outdated.  The drinks were cheap and the staff was nice.  Good place to socialize with your str8 friends but I don't think I would really go seek this place out if it was my choice.

You have to give this place credit... they got me drunk and that's all I needed.

It was crowded and smelled like B.O. But again, two drinks later the B.O. faded and it got fun again. Music was better than some places I know, but still could use a lot of work. Don't you ever wonder, why clubs don't just cut the DJ and save money by playing 94.9? And the crowd was a-ok. For the selection of guys--well, sorry ladies, don't expect too much--ever!

I'm bumping up my rating to 5 STARS b/c I've been coming to Bruno's every week for the past 7 weeks which says a lot.  Also for the following reasons:

1. I LOVE the NO DRAMA type crowd. Each time (except for the occasional douche) I've met incredible nice and down-to-earth people. Crowd is more low-key; you will rarely see a chick walking around with her goods spilling out at opposite ends (sorry, guys!). This is the reason why I prefer to go to bars/clubs as opposed to clubs.
2. Staff: Super nice bouncers and bartenders!
3. Music: Consistently good music - Top 40s! Yay for NO HOUSE!
4. LYCHEE SHOTS!!!!

Apparently, I've been blind or too buzzed to notice the Pussycat Lounge upstairs complete with a stripper pole. Very entertaining to watch drunken girls attempt (and not very well) to swirl around the pole. Anyhow, it's a nice place to chill to get away from the buzz downstairs.

I think this will be my go-to spot for many years to come until I'm OVER THE HILL! LoL!

The first time my friends and I went, the bouncer was unfriendly and told us at 1am that it was $10 cover.  We hesitated, but since we promised our friends we'd meet up and the bouncer assured us it would be open until 2, we relented and gave up our money.  It was packed and walking around the club was a pain.  But we found our friends, the music was good, and so we started dancing.  At about 1:35, they started rudely herding everyone out.

Though we had pretty much determined that we disliked Bruno's, we decided to give it another chance (we did like the music after all) This time we started the night there, so the $10 cover for half an hour was no longer an issue.  What was an issue though was the flock of creepy guys lurking by us and following us around the club every time we moved.  The drinks were ehh okay, the music still good.

Debated giving this place 1 or 2 stars but honestly, every time I think of this place, I get shivers thinking of the creepsters.  Will never step foot in Bruno's again.

Been here all of twice. For a Friday/Saturday where you're looking to get hammered and listen to main stream hip hop this is a decent place. It's split into multiple sections, one half with more tables and standabout area, one more intimate lounge space, and another wing with open space for dancin'. Three bars total. I say three stars because everything was just OK really, I don't recall hating or loving any part of the visit, and the drinks were priced where I figured they'd be. The lamest part I recall was it being a Friday night in a huge bar and there was NO coat check. Fix that please.

The other night we strolled by the place and I have to say the door man doubles as a great sales guy. It would have never occurred to us to head to Bruno's, but as we passed by he said "Hey, want a hand stamp? Then if you come back later you can skip the $10 cover". Sure enough a few hours and drinks later down the block we just HAD to take him up on the free cover he'd given us, SCORE! Sure, we spent mad loot on drinks anyway, kudos again to his sales skills.

The ambiance is that dim lit sexy feel, or at least I'm sure that's the target. The hip hop flowing out the door makes you think you've come upon some urban hip hop club hidden in the Mission but it's not, it's just another version of Harry's (since it's owned by the same peeps, Owl Tree too), complete with drinks etched into the mirrors, with a crowd that's looking to party. It's certainly better than Harry's. They used to have reggae on Wednesday night with dirt cheap Red Stripe but I don't know if that's going on any more.

Amusing people watching for sure if that's your thing. The hip hop was paired oh so well by a 6 ft something large, like really large dude who was shaking it like a stripper. The best part being the girls who just could not get enough of him, I mean this dude was huge and just workin' it like he'd been busting it for loot all his life. Another kudos goes out to you large man, wherever you may be.

The good:
- we didn't have to pay a cover because our names were on the guestlist
- mixed crowd
- played awesome hip hop in the main room
- really chill place, lots of places to sit when you're feet start to hurt in your heels
- awesome, friendly, attentive bartenders

The bad:
- drinks were not spectacular. had raspberry lemon drop & lychee shots, which were $10 each...$10 a drink is the typical price for drinks in the Mission, but at least make them good drinks!

The ugly:
- the annoying, uptight females near the bathroom line who were complaining we were loud...it's a club, not a library, people.

Came here on a Saturday night... I believe it was here...or did I enter another realm because most of these reviews seem to be the opposite of what I experienced.

First of all, I hate paying cover for places that are retarded. Luckily we didn't have to pay because once the DOORMAN told us there was cover, we up and leaped over the black rope to bounce, and then the doorman told us to come in free of charge. Secondly, like I said- it was SATURDAY and the dance floor was dead. I didn't understand. There were only like 3 people on the makeshift dancefloor dancing like monkeys to some random ass music.

I'm pretty flexible when it comes to going out, usually I can have a good time any where at any time. I was super buzzin from half a bottle of wine I had drank earlier but even that wasn't helping the vibe here. I might give it a 2nd chance, but eh-- Bruno's ain't my cup o' tea... fo sheezy.

LOVE this place! Good music, fun atmosphere, pretty decent dancefloor, good spot to come with your girlfriends for a night out on the town...only thing that sucks is it is sooooooo hot in here! Very poor ventilation, so wear very breathable, or very little, clothing. I wouldn't pay 10 bucks to get in, so try to get on a list or something, but a really fun place overall! Like the steps/raised dancefloor, like the fact that it's 2 rooms w/different types of music playing in each, like that it's got a mixture of different kinds of people (which is a nice change from the typical Marina scene). Sometimes hard to get cabs back to the Marina (home) afterwards, but well worth it for a night of fun! :)

My only issue with this place is the music is a little too funky- too hard to dance/listen to.  On the plus, drinks were good--  and didn't have to wait too long to order.

Not typically my crowd but when you're drunk and with your girlfriends, anyplace will do.  The mango mojito was by far the best I ever had, so I will give them that.  I also dropped my wallet inside the bathroom and when I found out I had lost it 30 minutes later, it was still there, untouched, despite the huge crowd and line outside the door.

I also have to give props to the dj for playing every single rap song that was ever popular and for making me shake my drunk ass.  I'll probably never come back but who knows.  This place was fun despite all the bros and hos.

Is Bruno Harry's brother?  They have the same drink menu!  I love that their drinks pack a punch - more bang for your buck.

Been here a handful of times.  I don't understand the cover charge after 10 or 11.  You're a bar, aren't you?

I didn't know that they had an upstairs and a side bar.  That's pretty awesome.  You can go a whole night without running into a lot of people.

Different hiphop music playing in the different rooms, so you can bounce from room to room without skipping a beat.

Parking is a beezie, so be patient.

In my opinion, Bruno's is a little gem in the Mission...just don't expect anything amazing..you are in the Mission district after all. After reading the info on the website of Bruno's, I figured out you can make free table reservations. So I went ahead and reserved 2 tables in the main room for our party of 10. This was probably what made my night great. Having a place to sit when the place is crowded is one of the best things ever.

Table reservations required that we get there before 10pm...that way we wouldn't have to pay the $10 cover. $10 cover's not too bad anyway because on Friday nights, happy hour is all night long. Well drinks are $4 and beers are $3. Amazingly cheap! The music was not bad either. The only issue I had was that there was only ONE place to dance that night, the upstairs was closed. Apparently it's only open on Saturday nights. I was sad about that because I wanted to peek at those infamous stripper poles. The dance floor never got too crowded though and the crowd seemed pretty laid back and fun.

All in all, I would definitely come back. Alcohol's cheap, music's good, and there are areas to sit! What more can a girl as for? :)

The only bar that I know of that has a a couple of stripper poles on the second floor, and yes. I used it with no formal training. The Stripper Gods have blessed me with natural stripper pole skills. No joke, see pic. http://farm4.static.fl...

I really like the decor of this place. Feels upscale and clean and the artistic pieces up on the wall are pretty sweet. Security was nice and not asshole-ish, and our hostesses was pretty swell as well. The crowd is mixed and rather pushy. Unfortunately, it takes forever to get any drinks at the bar. I'd give this place a 4 star, but they really need to do something about their slow, inattentive bar service. The small bar next to the stairs was about the only place I was able to get anything. Thank goodness for table service.

Fun bar/lounge!! I brought a group of friends here for a private multiple birthday party and bachelorette party on the second floor. I liked the private area and the seating areas. But, I did not realize that it was even more fun downstairs. We had to leave early because some of us had to wake up early to volunteer the next morning but I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the atmosphere downstairs. We will have to be back to check it out again!!
