We got a large turkey sandwitch, large bottle of water and a small bag of chips for $7.68. Amazing value!

Sandwich was pretty good. Well worth $5 we paid for it! I'll come back here again, for sure!

Bruno's is great for their deli or if you forgot something at the store. I get cravings for their trip-tip and tabbouleh salad!

The tri-tip is precooked and you can have them slice it to order. I usually get about half of a pound thinly sliced and then I make my own sandwiches with it at home. The tri-tip sandwiches they make there are also good. Served on a big roll with mayo, mustard, BBQ sauce, cheese, tomato, and onion.

The tabbouleh salad that Bruno's makes is delicious. I have tried to replicate it at home but have been unsuccessful, so it keeps me coming back to Bruno's for more.

The grocery items here are a little pricier than a regular grocery store but it is a great place to stop if you need an essential item that you forgot.

Looking for a quick lunch to go? Bruno's is the place!

I was on a mission to go hiking at Point Lobo's. Isaid to myself... "hmmm, wouldn't it be nice to have a picnic while enjoying the fantastic scenery of carmel" and then it hit me... YELP!

I searched through YELP and found this little gem. As you make your way down Ocean Ave, turn right unto Junipero.. and there it lays! With it's own parking lot (a plus!).

The sandwiches are ordered via paper slip check off list which is located on the top of the counter. Everyone and their mama was saying to get the tri-tip sandwich but I ventured off the other way and got a pastrami sandwich with the fixings: avocado, sprouts, pepperconis, lettuce, etc...

SO WORTH THE PRICE. The portion was huge! The amount of pastrami was good. They didn't skimp you at all....

I ordered just 1 rib (LOL) because I just wanted a taste.. and I liked it. Not overly spicy. I think they used a dry rub.. Flavorful.

Anyways, a sandwich, chips, 1 RIB, 2 mini bottles of wine... all for 12 bones! Awesome because it filled up me and my sis.

(BTW, BRUNO's you are my 100th review!!!! woohoo!!!)

Great prices and an amazing deli!  Make sure to check the front of the store for the small grill setup, the food that this guy makes is incredibly good... I had a brisket sandwich with grilled onions and BBQ sauce.  Its the best place in Carmel for quick, budget-minded eats.

I am not sure if I have consistently stumbled in at the wrong times or something - I lived up the road from Brunos for years and years.  I never, ever bought anything that tasted good to me.  I needed something to snack on yesterday and bought some of the chicken salad from the deli - WOW! it was so tasteless that it actually offended me.  This is the chicken salad with apples and celery.  Fifth Street Deli is waaaaaay above the food here.  I had to add so much salt and pepper and still the chicken tasted like...nothing.  Literally devoid of flavor.  'Tis, what it 'tis, I guess.

Bruno's is a GREAT little local Market and Deli.

We found that they had a huge selection of local wine.  You could practically choose any bottle of wine from their selection and know that it will be pretty good for their price.

The deli serves BIG portion of sandwich.  More bang for YO $$$!

I stopped here filthy and starving halfway through a fifteen mile hike.  I think the tri-tip sandwich would have been pretty good without the overwhelming need-to-feed.  But who knows? The price was right, which is more than I can say for the rest of Carmel. I didn't make nuanced notes in my state of hunger but i felt the meat to bread ratio was questionable i.e. should be more meat or less bread.  Don't be stingy!  Matter of fact, just keep the bread.  I'd definitely pay for more of those thin roast beef slices with the delicious caramelized edges.

Yelp you didn't steer me wrong! This was about the best stop we could have made in Carmel this weekend. I'd found this place on yelp before the trip. We headed in to order before going to sit out on the beach and this deli really exceeded my exceptions.
We got 2 sandwiches, 2 deserts, 2 HUGE pickles, and a pint of potato salad all for a little over $25. It was so much food that we were still munching on the road trip back home. Even if you don't have time to grab the food and go on a picnic pack up the car with some of the goodies they have in the store.
Everything was fresh and pretty reasonably priced.

Nice little market, great foods, and service.

Alongside our road trip, we stopped by here because I i read on yelp that this is a great place to grab lunch and go out to do something. (THANK YOU YELPERS, great find!)

So my girlfriend and i stopped by here on our way down from Monterey, and we stopped here right before having a picnic on the WONDERFUL beaches of Carmel. We ordered 2 beef ribs, and a Rib-eye Sandwich from the deli, purchased a bag of chips, and some calypso lemonade. All in all, the rib eye sandwich was very flavorful, and the beef ribs were mediocre at best.

All in all, great find yelpers, lunch for 2 under 20 bucks, extremely amazing views at the Carmel beach, and great service makes Bruno's a 4.5 star rating.

The trick is to get there before the pie sells out.  I hope they still sell them, 'cus they were fabulous.

The market is a little expensive for my taste, but what isn't in Carmel?  Everything here is jacked up a couple of dollars, but I feel like I'm paying to NOT shop at a chain supermarket where the stepford workers look like they've all been botoxed up the ass.

The people are super friendly and know pretty much everyone by name.  If you live in Carmel and you don't feel like driving to Safeway, this is your trusty neighborhood market.

This deli/market was actually our first stop in our romantic weekend.

We came a bit too late to pick up sandwiches and ended up getting some cheese and crackers to go along with the sparkling wine the BF secretly brought up.

Wandering around, there are some adorable gifts of soaps and chocolates and really, I was just sort of staring at their deli counter, wondering if I can possibly eat all the cheese and crackers we picked up plus dinner and maybe a sandwich from here. Unfortunately (or fortunately for my waistline!), I didn't pick any sandwiches up. Instead, I savored the cheese and crackers with the delicious sparkling rose.

Next time, I will definitely pick some sandwiches for my frolic on the beach.

How can so many delicious things be packed into such a small space??  There is most definitely something for everyone at Bruno's.  Drool-worthy BBQ, a nice variety of wines, sodas of every stripe, baked goods ranging from local-made to more standard fair, candy galore - I'm having a hard time thinking of what ISN'T sold at Bruno's.

And it's all wrapped up in the guise of a sweet, unassuming little corner store.  No pretenses here and the staff is just as down to earth.  Flashy tourists need not apply - this is straight up, local Carmel  (before local Carmel became a bedrock of fancy schmancy stores).  Charming, friendly and laid back.

Years ago, when I lived in Monterey, we would go to the Mediterranean Market to get sandwiches and picnic supplies before heading down to Carmel beach. Sadly, Mediterranean Market is gone, but Bruno's is more than a worthy replacement.

Tried the tri-tip sandwich and my friend got the meatball sandwich and all we have to say is outstanding! The tri-tip was so frigging good.

They also have a great selection of wines and wrapped-ready-to-go desserts. Stop here before heading to the beach for all your picnic needs.

Come for the tri-tip, stay for the cheese and crackers.

Bruno's Market and Deli is an institution in Carmel. With a name like Bruno, you have to get it right or Guido and Tommy Gnats may come by and have a few words with you. Y'know, words. No need for Guido and the boys to make a special trip, because Bruno delivers.

I cannot resist the tri-tip sandwich. At many places the meat is good, but the bread is so bleah that the total experience just isn't there. With Bruno's the rolls are so tasty in their own right they complement the marinated tri-tip and raise the taste to the orgasmic level. Or is that cosmic? Don't know, either works.

Try some of the other offerings here too. You will not be disappointed.

This is Carmel. Period. A very nice market with good selection of general goods. But the 5 star push is all about the deli. Choices abound, and the service is amazing. The trick is not to act like an impatient tourist in this town, and this rule applies double here.

Lunchtime here is a bit hectic. So please be patient and you will be treated to a hand-crafted sandwich that will leave you craving more if you even have room for it! The wine selection here is also impressive.

A great place to stop before heading to the Forest Theatre for a matinee, or for a picnic on the beach with your sweetheart.

This place is off the beaten path in Carmel-by-the Sea but its walking distance from Ocean and the perfect place to pick up food and snacks if you are making your way to the beach or the park.

Prices are more then what you would pay for at Safeway or any other large market but they also carry some more unique items and make it convenient if you don't feel like hauling food in your car.

Oh...try the butcher shop...or the deli sandwiches...this place is yum! Also, they have a private parking lot, so it is easy to come/go.

Also, the grocery store portion has well stocked produce section and easy to find grocery items. Ran by a local family, and a must stop place to grab great things for a homemade dinner or a quick sandwich to eat at the park.

Here's a great tip:  When driving into Carmel-by-the-Sea on Ocean Ave...avoid the traffic and go to a parallel street.  The down town area is laid out in a grid system so I looked at our navigation and saw that I can make a right and go down a parallel street!  By doing this we saved at least 15 minutes and we ended up parking right in front of Brunos.

Bruno's is a great small family grocery store.  DEFINITELY come here to pick a nice deli sandwich, drinks and snacks if you plan to go to the beach for a nice picnic.  They have many gourmet items as well as your standard grocery store items.  Customer service was outstanding and the prices are fair!

Eh. The best part of this place is the parking lot, which is why we stopped to get sandwiches for the beach, to not have to contend with Saturday tourist parking. The sandwiches, while very fresh, are just lacking something. The main thing is the bread choices are not so hot, sliced breads and white rolls. No Dutch crunch or wheat roll. Need some garlic sauce or something for flavor.

This is a great place to grab lunch and go. Not every meal in Carmel needs to be fancy-pants or sit down.

I was born and raised in Carmel so I've had a lot of Bruno's sandwiches. Partially because they are good, partially because my dad wasn't much of a prepared lunchbox kind of guy. Needless to say, my bagged lunches were envied and yours will be, too.

Bruno's was recommended to us by a friend.. and that's where all the trouble started.

He said they had really excellent burgers - some of the best in town. Being a guy who is always on the lookout for a really great local burger, we decided to give them a try for lunch. It was already 4 o'clock, so I called to ask how late they served food (and was told that their deli was open until 7:30 pm). When I asked if this also included their burgers, they told me, "Yes.. and we make the best burgers around!"

"Oh boy, now we are talking!!", I thought to myself, as I hung up the phone. Indeed, our friend had used those same words, so we were becoming quite excited to head over there and have some lunch.

Now, let me point out, this review is only about their burgers. As a market, they did have a very nice selection of items and they did seem to have a steady flow of traffic (which is normally a good sign). I also noticed they had a nice selection of normally difficult to find items.

Anyway, we ordered two burgers to go. The guy who helped us was very nice. We gave him a list of what we wanted on the burgers and specified "medium" as far as cooking the meat.

Price wasn't too bad. Basically $6.00. No fries, just the burger (cheese burger in my case). Our friend had mentioned that they used a very thick patty, so we were looking forward to biting into something thick and juicy.

We took our lunch down to Carmel beach and parked along the coast so we could watch the surfer and the ocean. When we opened our togo containers, the burgers did look very promising. However, the first bite was a big letdown.  Unfortunately, they were cooked more like well done, than medium. The meat was tough, dry and relatively tasteless. It's really a shame, too, as even in this condition there was hint of a good flavor (which suggested that had the meat actually been cooked properly, it probably would have been pretty good).

I was sort of surprised by how over done the meat was. Normally, someone who is bold enough to use such a thick patty (relative to the bun), knows how to cook the meat properly. It's a shame, because the burger had the potential to be very good (maybe not great, but very good). As it was, it was a big disappointment; one which only became worse with each subsequent bite. By the end of having lunch, we were both commenting on how dry and flavorless this experience had become. My girlfriend finally gave up half way through her meal and I finished it for her.

If Bruno's has the best burgers around, then I really worry about everyone else. Perhaps one of these days they will figure out that "medium" doesn't mean "well done" and make some improvements to the burgers that they are serving their customers. The rest of their deli sandwiches may be fine, but based on the very poor experience we had with lunch, it's doubtful that we'll explore their menu further.

There are some great burgers around town; Bruno's doesn't make that list - not by a long shot.

I love Bruno's! We go there frequently when in Carmel (a couple times a month).  They have everything you need - including some great prepared salads in the deli, super deli sandwiches, excellent BBQ, decent wine selection, locally made candies (so yummy), and the basics (milk, cheese, etc.).  It's on the expensive side (what do you expect for convenience in Carmel?), but for quick runs and immediate satisfaction, you can't beat it.
Last Thanksgiving, we ordered a Prime Rib (actual Prime cut of meat, not easy to find nowadays).  It was superb!
They also deliver - and have excellent service.

    What a great store!
We stay for several days each time we go to Carmel.  Most of our time is spent walking our dogs and letting them run on the beach.
We've gone to the Cheese Shop for cheese and sausage and we've picked up snack items at Nielsen Brothers but Bruno's is the place to go.  Their friendly staff made us 2 large, fresh deli sandwiches, then dished up some cole slaw to go with the sandwiches.  I grabbed a couple of candy bars and we were good to go for dinner one night.  All for only $16.40 no tax no tip!  You can't beat that for an expensive place like Carmel!!
This is our new favorite food spot!

They also have a good wine selection and the people were very friendly.

Oh yeah, my kind of place!

Yummy in my tummy. Tis' true, the Tri-tip sandwich is AH-mazingly delicious.
Now, note to all of you who may raise an eyebrow on the word tri-tip, it's not what you think. It's more like a BBQ sandwich and even has tomato and the fixin's on it. It's not just a hunk of beef. Oh, and the sauce, I could swim in it.
We also had a turkey sandwich, which was also quite tasty. Didn't get as good of bread as the tri-tip (sourdough roll was good, but they had run out of a whole wheat), otherwise, it was perfect for a turkey avocado sandwich made to my specifications.

Totally going back. And yes, brave the crowds and nab a place on the beach to savor these suckers. When in Carmel, it would be a crime not to enjoy the scenery.

Interesting selection of products, great if you're staying at a hotel in the area and don't want to overpay for stuff like water and snacks.
