My friends always yell at me for not eating breakfast on the regular.... if I could get a breakfast sandwich from brunchbox every day, I would eat breakfast every day.

    It's that good.

BrunchBox was one of the first food carts I remember going when the food cart scene exploded. I ordered the 5-Oh! and was amazed how wonderful it tasted. It had a sweet teriyaki sauce and pineapple (I picked it because of that). Simply wonderful.

I would recommend any of the sandwiches. One of the seasonal sandwich I hesitate to recommend is the Colbert's Super Mac. It's not because of the taste, but the size. My dude friend and I shared one and our stomach nearly burst! I would order the Colbert's Super Mac again if we have another friend to tackle it.

there's just something so simple about good texas toast sandwiches, and brunchbox has seemed to master this art.

The breakfasts are to die for, they had a special up (not removed) that was 2 eggo waffles for the bread, sausage, bacon, ham, 2 eggs, and syrup! I think I ate it solid for about 2 weeks straight for every meal.

The burgers (sandwiches) are also really really REALLY good too!  When I moved back to Portland from living down south for a few years I had heard rumors of a place that serves a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. hmmm, I though, sounds too good to be true. It wasn't!

What I think makes BB's icanhascheez burger :the burger between two grilled cheese" so good is that even under all that weight, the texas toast remains firm! i have to admit that yes I have tried grilled cheese grill's version and the bread was super soggy and limp (lol) under all that weight. Def wasn't worth the price in my eyes.

BB's icanhascheez burger was much better and less strain on the wallet as well!

Keep up the good work, i'll be back soon!

Went there with a group of friends and my bf and I shared an OMG!  with texas toast!  lucky we did!  it was ginormous!  I asked for fries and the guy told me, we don't have fries, you won't be able to eat fries with this burger!  so true!  It had bacon, it had spam, it had ham, and it had burger!  yum!
Note: don't eat it over ur lap...juices everywhere!

So f***ing good! I've sadly only had breakfast here, but the OMG is the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had (and I HATE Spam normally)! I always get bagels for my bread choice, but my friends/family swear by the Texas toast, which is amazing as an option. I make it a point to visit Brunchbox on every visit to PDX--highly recommended.

I love the changes that Brunchbox has made since I first started going there a year ago.  The menu is bright and updated. The ordering system is pretty cool where you mark what you want and faster than you can say *insert something clever here* you have a burger built to wondrous, sloppy perfection.  All wrapped in a waxy paper snuggie.  I give big ups to this place because I can get a turkey patty x2!  In this town, that is meaty gold in my book.  Sure, it's not the highest quality of meat, though I find it endearing in a way to pull a gristly  piece of something from my mouth and fling it.  Gives the burger character!

My heart stopped after seeing the Colbert Super Mac and I knew that was the only thing I could order on my first trip to BB!!!  It's a beautiful blend of 5 sandwiches in one:
    - 3 grilled cheese
    - 2 bacon cheese burgers w/ lettuce, pickles, & secret sauce
    - over 1/3 foot tall and weighing in at well over a pound (honestly, I'm not ever sure if Mick Jagger or Julia Roberts could fit their world-class kissers around this beast)
    - all surrounded with THICK Texas Toast
CAUTION: Predosing with aspirin and having morphine and oxygen on-hand is STRONGLY recommended since 1 in 4 will likely suffer a coronary finishing this colossus!!!

It's some serious heart-stopping greasy goodness (both figuratively and literally), only 11 bucks, and the best part: all of the proceeds go to the Colbert SuperPAC!!! :-D

It's like the Cheesus from Grilled Cheese Grill, but bigger...and it's kind of like a BigMac, but WAY better....honestly, you have to see it to believe it.  I can't imagine one person eating it without throwing a clot, so best to have a friend or two help you out so you don't bust a gut!!!

My only critique is that it's processed american cheese, certainly not worthy of such a behemoth....and using some local curds like Tillamook (or at least REAL cheese) and/or some thick peppered bacon instead of average would take this bad boy over the top...but alas, it is quite the spectacle, regardless.

There are healthier and veggie options for those that can't afford to smack over 1000Cal & probably 200% of your fat for the day in one sandwich, so don't let this impressive tale scare you away if you're on diet :-)

Final note: be cautious of their limited hours!  Unfortunately they're closed on Sundays and only open for Lunch most other days!!!

I finally got around to giving Brunchbox (near SW 5th and Stark in downtown Portland) another go. The more consistent high praise this cart got, the more I figured my initial experience was an anomaly. It was close to 11 a.m. on a Tuesday, but I craved a breakfast sandwich. Since Brunchbox serves breakfast all day...why not?

I ordered an Omelet sandwich with three veggies ($4). I picked mushrooms, grilled onions, and jalapenos, with pepperjack cheese, an English muffin, and a free condiment...Secret Aardvark sauce!

A major win! Delicious, one of the best breakfast sandwiches around. Beautiful caramelized onions and cooked mushrooms combine with the pleasurable heat of the jalapeno and the Aardvark sauce. The jalapenos added that crunchy element. The eggs were cooked well. English muffin lightly toasted. Aardvark sauce emits a tinge more heat. Just a great job all around!

The ability to build our own omelet sandwich with various meats, cheeses, veggies, and condiments literally means thousands of combinations, virtually guaranteeing customer satisfaction! What's that? Bacon? The (infamous) spam that this Hawaii-born dude grew up on? Holy bleepity win!

Hmm...maybe a "Redonkadonk" or a "YouCanHasCheesburger" is on the horizon now. A thousand-million calories await!

    I love this place.

I just reviewed Joe's Burgers which opened close by and was so sad I didn't walk the few extra blocks for the burger here.

You can customize it any way you want, which I love.  The meat is actually delicious, the texas toast is a fun twist and on a nice day you wander the streets while you consume the deliciousness.

The only drawback is no fries, but usually i'm so full from my burger I couldn't care less about fries.

Oh Brunch Box, you lived up to your hype!!  I typically go around the corner for an egg and cheese (with avocado) bagel sandwich around lunch time, but decided that I would instead try the little cart across the street that EVERYONE raves about.

Excellent customer service - you fill out a little card saying what you'd like, and I had a few annoying questions since it was my first time but the guy working there was HAPPY to answer them and was super nice about it.  I didn't have to wait that long - maybe five minutes? - for a delightful, greasy, fresh, hot sandwich.  They even had FRESH (as opposed to pickled) jalapeno (which always makes my tummy happy).

I'll be going back here again, and maybe trying something more adventuresome next time.

(I'd also venture that it is the BEST food cart in that pod...but I've only tried three or four of those carts)

I did a quick mash up with this place and Spoons yesterday to get my soup and charred meat fix at the same time.   Here I got a turkey burger with Swiss and mushrooms.   The cart was busy so the cook was in the zone.  I had my burger in just a few minutes.

I took it and my soup back to the office.  The burger was crisp on the outside and just blushing on the inside.  I generally like my burgers well done but I didn't have to bother with these guys.  They know how to cook a burger.   It's never raw in the middle.  They either sauteed the mushrooms or cooked them next to the burger, they we just tender and had a nice slightly salty kick to them.   That mixed with the melted Swiss cheese made the burger into a little slice of heaven.

A note on the service:  They are usually quick but not always friendly. When they get busy the service level breaks down and they can be short or even sometimes rude with customers.   That's why they only get 3 stars in the service category.   I go here several times a month so I'll post further reviews. Let's see if the service improves.

    The bottom line:

    Service: ***
    Food: ****
    Price: ***

After Janice F's rave reviews of this place, I decided to try it out.

Forget visiting any other fast food places when you get that junk craving.  Seriously, just eat at Brunchbox.  My husband and I shared the YouCANhascheeseburger for our first ever so tasty meal of the day and it was the perfect way to wake up.

Two grilled cheese sandwiches to hold a juicy and delicious beef patty.  Why didn't I think of that?  Simple and fantastic!

Num.  Nom.  Num. Oh, the choices - It was tough, but I settled on the YouCANhascheeseburger.

A juicy patty with all the fixings, mushrooms added all nestled between two grilled cheese sandwiches - genius.  All for $5.50!!! About the same price as any fast food place, but so much better.

The Colbert Super Mac is a ridiculously redundant monstrosity of a burger.  6 slices of bread, half a pound of beef, five slices of cheese.  I couldn't bring myself to do it, but I hope that you do!

Portland. The mecca of food carts. Brunchbox is a box worth touching.

Sadly, on the weekends only a few foodcarts were open when we went foodcart hunting. Luckily Brunchbox was alive and kicking. Their menu design is how it should be for all food establishments: WYSIWYG.

I'll admit that I was pretty intimidated by the monster creations such as the 'Redonkadonk' and its derivative 'OMG'. Look at the menu to see what I mean: http://www.brunchboxpd...

I was lame and went with the 5-OH burger and subbed with bacon because I hate SPAM. For just $5 dollars (suck it McD), this was one of the best burgers I've had. Meat was super flavourful, juicy, and the pineapple added a great little sweetness.

Make it a combo for only $1.50 more for chips & drink. And they take credit cards.

Freaking awesome. Bring on more food carts. Close the chains.

I went there with high expectations after reading numerous 5 star reviews on Yelp. I gotta say that I was disappointed. I ended up getting the Youcanhascheeseburger with a veggie patty. The grilled cheeses were greasy and the patty was kind of bland. All I could taste was cheap American cheese that they used for the grilled cheeses. I don't know if I went there during an off day or something, but I really wasn't impressed. I'll still give them a chance in the future, but I'll probably get something else.

I did it - I had the Redonkadonk and it was actually incredibly flavorful and delicious!

    What's a Redonkadonk? Here's the breakdown:
    - A Burger topped with american cheese, bacon, fried ham, fried spam, egg-over-easy, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, ketchup, mustard & mayo stuffed between two Texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches!!!!!

Now granted, it was HUGE and VERY MESSY (I had egg in my hair and all over my face) but what I couldn't believe was that it was actually delicious - it wasn't just a sandwich with everything in it just because - it was made with care and really, really flavorful and delicious!

Hats off to the visionary chef(s) behind Brunchbox that came up with this incredibly ridiculous sandwich and made it taste AMAZING!

Ok, so I was a skeptic.  But when there was a groupon for $6 of food for $3 I figured I could take the plunge.  Well guess what?  No disappointment here!  Everything was perfect.  The meat was tasty and well cooked...not too raw not too tough.  The bread was good though I would not say it is high quality as in "Dave's Killer Bread".  But I wouldn't have it any other way.  Who wants a fancy ass grilled cheese sandwich on top of tasty burger and special sauce?  Not me!  Besides, the american cheese would have been out of place.

I seriously enjoyed my lunch.  It was really really good.  So will I go back?  Duh, YES.  Often?  No, heart attacks and clogged arteries are nothing to be triffled with.  So take it in but do so sparingly.  Besides, you'll enjoy it all the more.  And as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder (and healthier in this case).

As heart attack and greasy as the sandwiches may look... it really isn't greasy at all!  We stopped by to pick one up on our way to an appointment we had, and both shared the Redonkadonk.  It's made to order infront of you, it was fun watching him pile it on.  The sandwich was so warm!! It served as my hand warmer as I was holding it and bringing it to the car in the 40 degree weather, .  The redonkadonk is a bacon cheeseburger with an egg in between two grilled sandwiches.  You would think it would be dripping with grease but it really wasn't.  It was really tasty and flavorful.  I thought I would be grossed out by it but it was pretty delicious!  I would definitely come back to try other sandwiches.

I'd give this place 10 stars if I could!  Quite possibly the best burger I've ever had.  The meat was good but its all about the combination of ingredients.  Its like everything was engineered to be the right amount to enhance and compliment the meat.  Starting with the bread (texas toast), crispy on the outside, thick and doughy on the inside, the veggies, fresh and crisp, the pickles, dill crisp and salty but not overwhelming.  The sauce, moist and tangy pulling the cool and crisp together with the beef.  Truly a masterpiece, thought out and tested.  F'ing Good!

Part of the food cart nation, a truly delectable treat!

Brunchbox works the corner of 5th and Stark like a hardworking hooker!!!

Brunchbox burgers are the business!  The ones that keep us coming back are:

    - OMG:  all beef patty + bacon + ham + spam + egg = OH MY GAWD! duh!  If you aren't afraid of all that protein, do it!  You'll love it!

    - Trial by Fire:  pepperjack cheese + grilled jalapenos + bacon + aardvark habanero hot sauce = heaven slapped between two buns for any lover of spicy food!

    - Slaughterhouse IV:  beef patty + turkey patty + bacon + egg = everything but the barnyard!  Holy moly this thing is huge!  But it's really good!  And, if you can put your mouth around the whole stankin' thing to get a little bit of everything in one bite, bravo to you!

    - Black & Bleu:  I am a sucker for bacon... and bleu cheese!  So, I get this whenever it's on the menu.  Brunchbox's B&B is one of my favorites!

    - Grilled PB&J:  creamy PB - yum!  blackberry jam - double yum! texas toast - ahhh!  i wish the PB&J sammies my mom made me as a kid were just as tasty as these!

This box is laced with crack - once you experience Brunchbox, no trip to PDX is complete without a taste!

You know it's good when I don't miss the cheese. Fresh, delicious, and full of awesome flavor combinations--most of which include bacon.

They have the pre-made beauties, all of which you can substitute what you want, or you could just go wild and build your own. I am a fan of the order card, no doubt about it.

The lunch rush isn't much of a wait. They know that some of us have to schlep back to the surrounding offices in a somewhat timely manner and they grill accordingly. I don't think I waited longer than 4-6 minutes.

The burgers are all kinds of affordable for a filling lunch, AND they take cards for a $0.50 charge. Thank you for that.

They play Hot Water Music from time to time while grillin'. Be still my heart.

They've renewed my faith in Texas Toast.

You can get breakfast all day. All. Day.

Most of all they allow you to be just as bad as you want to be. Have that simple burger or give into temptation and cradle the Redonkadonk in your hands. Your arteries will thank you for it.

I loved the whole experience. From reading the funny menu items, to ordering from handle-bar mustache hipster dude, to the first and last bite of my spam sandwich.

Today, the heavens opened up and a thousand Mr. T Angels descended from the heavens and sang the name of deliciousness...and Brunchbox be thy name!

There's a lot of food cart hype in this town, but not everyone can deliver - which is why The Brunchbox is so special.

The magic has got to be in the griddle, as everything from the ham to the Rick Perry Texas Toast to the burgers were all seared to perfection upon the superheated face of the metal.

I had the Outlaw; an exquisite burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, crispy onions and bbq sauce. Every bite was packed with a combination of flavors that melded perfectly together - it was NOT the fat-bomb I was bracing for.

My companion ordered the OhMyGod; a divine, many layered creation consisting of burger, egg, onions, bacon and cheese. I watched him eat through that thing like a champ, having to take breaks between bites to savor the range of flavors.

We were surprised that the two gentlemen cooking said creations were able to coax such a multifaceted spectrum of flavors out of the ingredients.

What more could we have desired as diners? We wished we had a ledge or table to sit at in order to eat without being badgered by homeless people asking for money.

I love you The Brunchbox. It's not just because you play The Eagles of Death Metal or wear Mr. T shirts, it's because you're a food cart that's doing it right.

I don't understand people. "It's too salty." "The burgers looked bigger in the picture." "I paid $11 for 2 sandwiches." "WWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Get over yourselves, people. Show me a place in Portland other than a fast food joint that sells sandwiches for less than $5 (and mystery meat sandwiches don't count). Come on. Show me. Where are they? Oh, what's that? There aren't any? Go back to Washington and stay there.

I LOVE Brunchbox. They are my go-to cart whenever I need to grab a quick bite for breakfast or lunch. Burgers are excellent, very reasonably priced, and there are soooooo many to choose from. My favorite is the 5-Oh! I don't care what anybody says, I love me some Spam! My grandmother used to fry up some Spam and serve it with mac and cheese. But I digress...

Their breakfast sandwiches are AWESOME! I will pick a Brunchbox breakfast sandwich over Kettleman's or Kornblatt's (my other two go-to neighborhood spots) any day of the week. Who would've thought one of the few places in Portland that does biscuits right would be a dinky little food cart downtown? Oh, and bacon and cheese are salty. It's called common sense.

I have yet to try their Redonkadonk or YouCanHasACheeseburger sandwiches. I am only one person. But I wouldn't be opposed to scarfing down a Redonkadonk Epic Meal Time-style if someone promised to film it.

Keep up the good work, guys! You'll always have a customer in me as far as I'm concerned.

    yesi*CAN*hascheezeburger here!
I can has it meat or veg!
I can has it for 5.50!
I CAN. YOU CAN. WE ALL CAN.

The buns are two texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches.
You will want to pass out but you will enjoy.
I strongly echo the feelings of fellow yelper forrest s. in saying that though some of the burgers here may *actually* cause you to die...it truly would be a beautiful death.

After moving to Oregon this was one of the first food carts I tried. It was so good. of course, its not the healthiest thing to eat, but delicious.

The BLT was load with bacon, crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes and sandwiched between tasty Texas toast.  The service was quick and the prices were reasonable.

They also have Cheezasaurus Rex (Texas toast grilled cheese shaped like a dinosaur)!

Oh yeah, they also take credit cards which is nice for those who don't carry cash.

I love me some burgers, I eat a lot of them, and so stumbling across the food carts downtown while looking for lunch with a friend, Brunchbox caught my eye.

I was not disappointed. It all tasted amazing, the prices were unbelievable, and I will definitely be heading back for more delicious meat sandwiches. There are so many more combinations to try!
