Yay for Brueggers...
I'm a pretty picky eater, even if I do have a fairly large range of food I'm into.. but still I am picky about what I'll eat. And well, I love this place so that must mean something :)
I've been coming here since I was in junior high and I pretty much get the same thing every time I get the Bruegger's craving. Which is an onion bagel with plain cream cheese. Yeah, I know stinky onions lol.. but it's good and I carry gum on me.. or I take it home and scarf it down in private lol.
Their iced coffee is pretty good, their soup is tasty and I've tried the little square bagels which are also good.
It's a clean shop, staffed with usually friendly people and the line moves quick if there is one. As for parking, you'll either get lucky and park out front on the street, have to drive and look for a spot or there's an empty lot next door that says it tows but well, I've yet to be towed so I always use that if I'm just going in and out quickly.
I've only been several times (in 5+ years of living in Troy) but my recent trip was not the best.
Bagels - for $1.50 they charge, they're not much bigger than a Lender's frozen bagel (about 20%) and not even that chewy.
The small portion of lox and cream cheese added over $4 to the price (yes, I know a bagel with lox is typically $7, but the portions of lox are more than double of Bruegger's .
My coffee was of average taste, and cost $1.49 for a small 12 oz cup (which for Troy, is definitely on the high side - small cups elsewhere are usually $1).
In all, I don't go to Russel Sage, so I suppose I don't see the value of it being a 'trendy' place. I'll take my $7.50 to other places in town and get better meals - unfortunately without the smoked salmon, as my favorite shop only has it on certain occasions ($4 for bagel, cream cheese, and lox).
