This place is definitely a little, refreshing hide away under the Bruckner. The neighborhood is mostly warehouses, beer distribution places and auto shops, so this place is such a pleasant surprise. The Bruckner is clean, a really nice historic building and its a large place with three different rooms.

The prices are average (happy hour is $2 off drink until 7pm M-F) and the food is good. They have basics, burgers, wings, sandwiches, but also really good salads, hummus and baba ganoush.

I feel like this place really embraces, celebrates and welcomes the local neighborhood, its a establishment that is needed. The crowd is diverse and there is a good mix of people. There is definitely a teacher crowd who comes in and my co-workers and I have gone as well. Fridays they have karaoke and they are always having different events, live music, even a few art shows and creative events.

They have brunch, lunch and dinner. There's never a dull time there since I've started going.

I've driven by a few establishments on Bruckner and told myself that I needed to investigate the area. Based on Yelpers' reviews, I decided to head here.

The place is cool, especially for being in what is still a very ugly neighborhood, but it has its drawbacks, especially the distant walk from the four train, and the fact that getting there feels like a scene from Escape From New York or something.

As for the place itself, its spacious and has a dive bar feel, so there's no sense of pretense. The waiters are friendly and helpful, and offered me a sample of a beer before I ordered it. The beers were $6 to $8, which although fair, is kind of a disappointment considering you're in the Bronx. I guess it irks me to pay downtown prices when I'm not downtown.

The same can be said for the food. The average price for a plate was $13-15, which although not expensive, is still high for being in the SOUTH BRONX. I ordered the mediterranean sampler and nachos, both of which had enormous servings (a plus), and were pretty good. The mediterranean dish was especially good, with great hummus, baba ganoush and some other dip I wasn't sure about.

The nachos were good, but came out cool, which hurt the taste.

One other thing that was odd: the music selection. The music was all of the wrist-cutting variety, either sad and moody or annoying Beyonce songs that make you hate life.

Bruckner is what the LES used to be, before the hipsters and pretentiousness. I love Bruckner so much, I would venture to the South Bronx just to savor their gargantuan Bruckner burgers and succulent sweet potato fries. Service is great, too. It has a cool, laid-back vibe without being too hipster-esque and the wait staff always tries their best to please. One waiter recommended we try a Black Moon (Blue Moon & Guinness), which was pretty awesome.

Other BIG pluses for Bruckner - local art exhibitions, Friday nite Karaoke and an amazing brunch menu. Nothing makes my morning more than $5 mimosas and salmon eggs florentine.

Bruckner is a solid place in the south Boogie Down...

Good beer and liquor selection, with solid food to hit the spot. I've done the Bruckner with co-workers a hand full of times and always have a good time. Close to the 138th station on the 6, so easy to get to from Cramhattan. Definitely worth checking if you like a solid, chill bar. Karaoke is pretty good there. Very clean, very lively.

So. Let me start off by saying I personally have been a fan of Bruckner Bar for several years now (and still am) and have NOT ONCE  had ANY sort of complaint EVER. Not about the food. Not about the service. Not about the ambiance. Not about any of the events. NO COMPLAINTS! NOSIREEBOB.

Bruckner has a cool, laid-back vibe and the wait staff always tries their best to please. This place has awesome local bands of all genres and nice art exhibits and other events in their back room gallery space.

Word to the wise.... Bruckner Bar may be slightly out of the way by the highway and at the end of a quite solitary block...BUT (notice the capitalized letters).......DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY ITS LOCATION!!!!

But this review isn't about ALLLLLLL of my previous times at this establishment....it's about the brunch my group of ladies experienced yesterday. If you haven't read my previous reviews. We are a group of ladies that hit different brunch spots every 3rd sunday of each month (our March spot was Giovanni's and our May spot is going to be Hudson River Cafe).

Yesterday was a warm April 15th in NYC: 76 degrees.  All 10 of us were seated to the left of the entrance where there is bench seating. THE RADIATOR WAS ON FULL BLAST...I'm SOOOOO not exaggerating when I say FULL blast! We begged several times to have them turn it off. It seemed the heater was on an automatic timer. It would turn off for a few minutes and then go back on. It was definitely torture but we tried to make the best of it because we were there to have a good time at our monthly brunch and we're not a high maintenance group. We spent the whole time really thirsty and asking for more and more water.....might I add we're not water drinkers at a brunch! LOL

Speaking of drinking. We do an OBSCENE amount of drinking at our brunches....seriously.....probably 2 bottles per person. So, of course we all ordered the first round of mimosas which we all received. When we were ready for the second round of mimosas...not long after the first round....hehehe....we were all told that the bar was out of champagne. REALLY? Out of champagne at 12:30pm on a Sunday????? We had to wait 45 minutes before we got our second round and I'm guessing that's because someone had to run out and buy champagne. Oh and we got our second round only after WE asked again......no one offered to tell us that champagne was now available.

Speaking of service. We had questionable service also.....I really hate to shout any server out in a negative way because I waitressed myself for 13yrs so I know what it's like BUT our Brittany Murphy look alike (splitting image I tell you.....S-P-L-I-T-T-I-N-G image) really needs to step up her game. Maybe she was just having an off day (it happens) or maybe she partied too hard the night before. She wasn't rude or anything just not the service any of us were used to having at Bruckner. Five minutes into us being seated she came over to take our orders.....that was great, but since we were waiting for 4 more people to arrive at our table, I notified her that we would call her over when we were ready so as not to annoy her and not annoy us either. Well, she disregarded this and came over 3 more times to ask if we were ready yet. Surprisingly....NOT.....we had the same response for her each time: We will call you over when we are ready. AND no, we were not sitting there forever without ordering....it was approximately 15 minutes before our whole table showed up. The remainder of our brunch, said waitress disappeared most of the time. In fact, one of the ladies at our table waved to the waitress to come over from across the dining room because we had been waiting for her for the longest.......the waitress smiled.....AND WAVED BACK while sipping on her Red Bull! NO WE WERE NOT SAYING HELLO.....we needed service! LOL It's ok though we still had a good time.

Oh and the food....pretty darn tasty....everyone was happy with what they ordered: hummus with tender warm pita bread, Mediterranean platter (AMAZING STUFF), buffalo mozzarella sandwich, Portobello sandwich, Crispy Calamari Ceasar Salad, Cubano, and the list goes on.

I can honestly say, had it not been for the unbearable heat below our butts, we would have stayed longer and ordered WAY more. We've all been chatting on facebook this morning and the one topic that keeps coming up is Booty Heat! LOL

A solid neighborhood pub if you are passing through Mott Haven. Good bar food and no-nonesense brunch with $3 bloody marys or mimosas.

The only weird thing was a sign on the table (I uploaded a photo) asking patrons to review the business on Yelp and other review sites and in return would get a free shirt. Does Yelp allow this?

ok, so I found the Bruckner on a whim... I needed a place to go to in the Bronx for our annual 5 Boro Pub Crawl and this place did not disappoint. We have been coming here for 5 years now and every year the staff is great and so accommodating.

This place is a gem at the end of a block with car washes and collision garages. Don't be intimidated by the walk, just enjoy it when you get to the corner and see a great bar. The front bar section is nice and open and they have 2 larger areas which have always been able to accommodate my group of 20. The food is good and the happy hours special are great.

If you get a chance try the lamb burger it is a great find on the menu. I need to come when i am not on a pub crawl so that i can try other things on the menu.

Alex, the owner, has always treated my group great and we always anticipate coming to the bronx to be at the Bruckner.

This is an unexpected treat in the South Bronx. It's warm, cozy and welcoming, and the food is great. I came in here on a cold and rainy day and thoroughly enjoyed a half price beer during their excellent happy hour special. I also got a delicious salad with pear and blue cheese, which is one of my all time favorite salad combos. It also had some delicious grape tomatoes and red onion in it. Very tasty. However, the main event was undeniably their burger, which came with a mountain of crispy sweet potato fries and was served on a giant toasted english muffin. Growing up, I hated squishy supermarket hamburger rolls, and my mom came up with the english muffin as a substitute, so I was very happy to see the Bruckner employing one on their burger, which came nice and medium rare, with a nice slice of ripe tomato, some red onion and, for a dollar more, melted cheddar cheese. It was an excellent burger that I would order again in a heart beat.

All in all, I was just so impressed with the food, the atmosphere, and the friendly service at the Bruckner Bar and Grill. The waiters were so friendly and encouraged me to come back again, which I fully intend to do. If you live nearby (I'm fairly close myself), you owe it to yourself to stop by!

Good luck.  My friend recently moved to the area so we went here for brunch. $3 mimosas and bloody marys, can't go wrong there!  I got the eggs florentine and it was AWESOME! Very well done and the waitress was very nice and friendly and made sure I didn't go without a bloody mary for too long. It looked like someone was setting up to play live music, but we left before that happened.  Nice vibe, a little unexpected for the area which is somewhat desolate and right near the highway.

I have only been here once, on the recommendation of my BFF and her Husband who are regulars here. We went out for an early dinner late lunch (Linner anyone?!? I have to copy write that!!!) The food here was real good! My BFF highly recomended the Sweet Thai Chili fries, which were good, but she also said they had changed them a bit and they used to be better, which to me was a bit of a bummer, but they were still quite good. We also had the Israeli salad which was really good! I had the Bruckner salad, which totally hit the spot. I loved it, I just had them hold the egg. Hard boiled eggs in salad gross me out! My boyfriend loved his burger, and said the quality of the meat was top notch. We left full and happy. I would love to go back in the future

Returned for burgers with my partner in crime on Sunday. This is my second trip back there since my last review and in efforts to provide full disclosure I did not critique the prior visit as it was comped as a result of my previous experience. We got there and the place was bustling and we were hungry and knew what we wanted to order. She wanted a lamb burger and I wanted a bacon burger both ordered medium rare, hers with sweet potato fries, mine with onion rings. Customer service was great today no issues there. Burgers were really only just passable. My bacon blue cheese burger was over cooked to well but still juicy and light years better than her blue cheese lamb burger also over cooked.Honestly, it was too big, not flavorful and it had an interesting greyish hue that kind of made it unappetizing. Our waitress took a minute to get to us but was on top of the customer service game but we were too far gone eating them to send them back. With the lamb burger, bigger is not better. And I think the cooks in the back need to be more on top of their times when making burgers. The onion rings were tasty crunchy and cut fresh. I always like the drinks and the fresh tortilla chips and salsa they put on the table. The service is friendly and I really like frequenting this place, its comfortable like a "Cheers".

I find it somewhat difficult to really pinpoint what it is that keeps me coming back to this place. The draft beer selection is standard, but lacking, in my opinion, for the kind of place the Bruckner is trying to be (FYI - pass on the Bruckner Lager, and go for the Brooklyn SixPoint brew.) The food is hit or miss, which is a shame and really inexcusable for pub-style fare. Best bet is to stick with the (veggie) burgers and sandwiches, and definitely opt for the crispy sweet potato fries. The hummus is my go-to late night snack at this place, and if your server is gracious enough, he'll keep the baked pita coming.

All in all, the Bruckner is probably most notable for the laid-back, unpretentious retreat it offers from the usual NYC bar/lounge. I've found myself coming here more often to catch up with friends over a few pints, without constantly contending with obnoxiously loud music or unruly crowds. Also, every once in a while, you'll catch an art show in the backroom "Gallery" space. If you're ever in what I call the "New Williamsburg" (give it a couple of years), this place is worth a stop to kick back and regroup.

We went here for lunch after work the other day.  I was really pleased!

Service:  There was some confusion/delay splitting up a large check between people and it took a while to resolve, but other than that, service was impressive.   The waitress was attentive and friendly, even bringing me extra blue cheese for my salad!

Food:  Calamari appetizer and pita bread/dip sauce plate were delicious.  I didn't order them, but my boss did for everyone (kudos to her!).  My pear salad was just the right size and one of the best I've had.  I love delicious salads and this one is worth coming back for.

Decor/atmosphere: Nice and fun, perfect for after work, happy hour, relaxed fun.

    Give this place a try!

Far enough to not go everyday, but close enough for a weekly jaunt.  The bar is just that, a bar.  Nothing snazzy, which makes me like it more. My worry is the area the bar is in.  It's in the process of lofting-up and all too soon it will be given a cutesy name like SoMoHa and the hipsters will come flocking.  I only hope I have a little more time.

If I ever become the type of person who lives in a bar, I will live in this bar. Bruckner is my go-to for anything: lunch, dinner, post-dinner, happy hour, after school.  It's a teacher bar, so beware during the school year, because we pack the room on Fridays. During the summer, it's still as wonderful. They make really good food as well as reasonably priced drinks. & I adore the staff.
It's also a pretty good place to get some work done, during the day.  Free wifi & good coffee, plus big tables when they're not crowded.  Once those mood lights go down, though, close up the laptop & start drinkin'.

Most guys i know have put the Bruckner Burger in their "best burgers ever" list. but do not fret, their salads are wonderful too, and if you're a guacamole fan, you will not be disappointed. so just to recap: food is fanstastic.

This is our new fav local place - we moved to the area in nov '07 and have been to bruckner bar and grill many many times - and each time the food is consistent - delicious..... on those crappy nights where i don't feel like cooking - we do take out....

the atmosphere is great - and the art work is ever changing... many mention that the area isn't the greatest - but it is getting better lol i mean really it IS the south bronx ya know?  but as a young ( ok almost 30, but that is young right) female - i've had no issues walking this 'hood late at night ( like 2 or 3 am) and its a short walk from the 6 train for those out of the neighborhood.

we are planning our wedding rehearsal dinner there and all the staff have been insanely helpful.... on our first night in the 'hood we went for dinner - they gave us free shots to welcome us... great people...

and when we go with the kid for brunch ( i highly recommend the eggs benedict or the juevos rancheros) they are always very sweet with him and talk to him constantly lol

i've had quite a bit off their menu - but the bruckner salad is by far my favorite

My boyfriend has now had two photo shows at Haven Arts Gallery (a couple blocks away), so Bruckner Bar & Grill has become our default dining destination for each time we've visited the gallery.  It definitely has a casual neighborhood vibe and if I lived nearby, I could imagine coming here a lot.  There is even a back room where they feature art and host special events.

I've had dinner here a couple of times and brunch once.  The 10 oz burger, from what I remember, was pretty good.  The mac&cheese was delicious in its thick, creamy cheesiness and stayed hot for a lot longer than one would expect (they must bake it in the serving bowl).  The chili is okay - I wanted a little more kick in the flavor.  But the portions are very generous and filling.  My friend ordered a fried calamari salad and could only eat about half of it.  The brunch servings are just as generous too.  My three egg omelette was huge and left me full for several hours afterwards.  Not bad for about $8!

The waitstaff has always been friendly and cool.  Last time we ate here, our table joked around with our waiter and he even comped my tea.  This just seems like a place where everybody would know your name.  Cheers, Bruckner Bar & Grill!

I've been wanting to go here for a while an when I finally got a chance to go, it was way better than I could have imagined! I came in with a large group and the staff was very hospitable and attentive to our group. We didn't wait long for anything even though there was more than 10 of us! The atmosphere was fun, and the food was the best! I tried a lamb burger and fell in love lol! Everyone liked what they got and in 2 weeks time, we had gone back three times.

I threw down $40 here one night and exited as the wasted chick a few hours later. Granted I had consumed two or three sparks to get me off the ground before leaving home, but who would have it any other way?

This was my first time to Bruckner, and my friend and I went for the monthly rock n roll party. Or whatever that was. Regardless, in our navigation to the bar we witnessed a car chase and talked to a couple of cabbies. But we take subways and soon walked our way there.

Outside was a grand assortment of people. Inside, the bar was sleek and even refined. There were three vibes to check out, and at first we spent time in the in-between space to get comfortable. Here there were windows and back and forth people, as well as the line to what turned out to be a very clean and spacious bathroom.

But it was time to dance, and although the party (and cover charge) was over by then, a few stragglers moved around the room. Things went from 2 to 200 in the following hour, as we continued to drink and the dance floor continued to empty.

Except for us. The bartenders were truly saints for handling the bar's variety of patrons in such a calm, consistent fashion. I make a pt to compose myself before ordering, but it is unimaginable that everyone does that on every night. We would get drinks and rush back through the in-between to request drunkenly another song from the dj.

The dj was my favorite. Whoever he was, he played so many of our requests so obligingly. This of course might have to do with the fact that we were two of maybe five people on the dance floor and definitely the most enthusiastic. We made temporary friends with one girl who was further gone than we, and no one gave a glance when we stomped onto the stage and rocked out like no one was looking. Because it was about 3am and no one was in that room. I think my random dance partner chick was a regular.

The impression I have is that the bar is generally this laid back, just normally minus the presence of blitzed college kids who have.to.dance. Afterward, I checked out the Bruckner website, and my only wish is that they kept the kitchen open while they serve the booze. When we arrived, it was already closed but, Mmm, how a warm appetizer would have topped off the night.

How many times can you say that you have been to the Bronx for dinner! (OK not if you live there)... Well now I can say at least once! I mean seriously I live in Brooklyn, so the BX is a serious hike for me!

I've never really been to the Bronx (asides from the Bronx Zoo) LOL I know lame!

Anyway tucked away under the 3rd Ave. bridge off Bruckner Blvd., this restaurant is a real find! I have to thank my friend Hetu for taking me here! So I've learnt from BX locals that SOBRO (South Bronx) is totally up and coming and Bruckner Bar & Grill is one of the more popular spots for the locals to hang out!

They were really busy the night I went; they had a live comedian performing...which you wouldn't even know off unless you went through the pool room-another room and then voila a back room with a stage and everything!! I love it! Totally SOBRO(lol I just like saying that!)...anyway the food looked really good but we didn't stay to eat. Our waitress was a little preoccupied. We grabbed a couple beers, and just enjoyed the warm brick walls, & the neighborhood vibe...Truly a diamond in the ruff!

OK how to get here-I'm going to be honest, its not easy. Thanks to Hetu, I had a ride back to BK. You have to take the 6 to 138th &3rd and then walk down to 134th and 3rd, and Bruckner is right on the corner. Now, If you walk the wrong way-like I did-you will end up in the projects-which is not cool-so TRUST-just go with someone or hook up a ride! Definitely worth a trip though-its so "hipster" but NOT u know what I mean peeps!

The first time I came here was a while back. I remember having the Thai Chili fries and thinking they were delicious. I recently returned and tried the lamb burger per the yelp reviews, it was good didn't think it was great. Still love the Thai fries. My boyfriend had a burger which was ok, it was too salty for a burger. The appetizers were good, mozzarella sticks and buffalo wings but they took about 20 minutes to come out. When we got there we had a waitress which was pretty much MIA, then I guess there was a shift change because we had a new waiter which was much better.

I went for brunch recently and the omelet was great.  The hash browns are the best I've ever had, and I'm not usually a fan of hash browns.  And it doesn't hurt that the guava bellinis were $3 and tasty, either.

a hidden gem of the south Bronx, displace can get crowded. if food is more than decent, but lack and premium selections on tap. The decore is simple, the crowd is live & parking is easy.

5 words SWEET THAI CHILI HOME FRIES.

Sounds weird, but the flavor is incredible.  This bar is breathtaking (and I'm not an alcoholic).  You feel like you are in one of those old corner bars in a movie.  There are two back rooms, one with pool tables and the other is used for live entertainment.  This place is clean and the staff is very friendly (though not always timely).  That's OK though, it's because the place is picking up in popularity.

    Bitchin' happy hour prices.

    6pt. Sweet Action on tap.

Best bar I've found in this hood yet. (Happens to be Zagat-rated also)

    Recommend: BLT & onion rings.

I love this place, the crowd, the wait staff, owners etc, and  have had many a good time here and (very few bad) however I find it so strange that when ever my boyfriend and I place an order for delivery, there is ALWAYS a mess up ! 3 times we have ordered and they've forgtten and item or two, or have messed up the order entirely by delivering us a completely diff meal or  taken 40 minutes to deliver when we are just 4 blocks away. I find that so odd !!!

This is another one of those "diamonds in the rough" places. Its small and intimate and has a wonderful menu. The only thing which was minor was I went there in the early afternoon and sat near the window. The tables have some sought of a metal surface and the sun reflects off the tables to much and it blinded the heck out of me while I'm eating my lunch. lol. no biggie tho' but maybe they should change their tables.

Their food was awesome and the environment felt as if I was downtown Manhattan somewhere. It looked like they had a big assortment of beers at the bar for the beer fans. I have to go for drinks some time.

Even though I no longer live in the Bronx I will definitely continue to eat at the Bruckner! Good food, good service, good prices. Brunch is the true winner at this place in terms of the best value and yummiest selection. I've never had to wait for a table and I've never been rushed out - the perfect brunch option for a leisurely eating pace with a group of friends.

YEAH!! I'm a fan.  This place is only a block away from my new apartment.  I heard about this place, but wanted to start learning my new neighborhood.  Trekked over here for dinner the other night.  Very cool vibe as soon as I stepped in the doorway.  It was snowing and the fireplace was crackling away inside.  I ordered a salad and the portion was huge!! It filled me right up.  The burgers look delicious.  Can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu.  Great little joint just down the block from my new place...how convenient!

It's got the basics down pat. It's comfortable, has great happy hour specials, decent food. It's not trying to be gourmet or fancy or stocked full of hundreds of unheard of beers. It's just good food, good service, and basic, tasty beers. The clientele is diverse and friendly. I went along and fell into easy conversation with the bartender and fellow customers. I liked it a lot. I'll be back.
