This is the best breakfast in the area. Always packed for a reason. If you rate this less than a 4 star fort breakfast, you should eat at home You won't be satisfied anywhere and who wants to read your unfair whining anyway?
Also, for breakfast the prices are the best in the whole Harrisburg area. If you're someone who like sweets for breakfast, the other option is to go to the Hershey Pantry, but it will be over $10 per person, generally that's high for breakfast in this area. -

The decor of this building is exactly what the name suggest it's a brownstone bldg. The interior is quite comfortable considering the building was a bank at one time.their are booths and tables neatly set up so as not to crowd. The wait staff is friendly and at tentative to your needs.
I was here for lunch I enjoyed a Turkey Sandwich, Fries and a cup of their Beef Veg.Soup. All were very tasty. The turkey on the sandwich was tender and sliced thin. The really good part that I found was that the turkey seemed like it was made from a whole turkey not just from pre-fab like you found so many places nowadays.
A Classy Classic place in the heart of Middletown.
The food for the price is excellen you do get your money's worth here. -

Best breakfast in the Harrisburg area!!! Nothing beats their breakfast burritos. Also very good is their Chesapeake Benedict or their baked oatmeal selection, just to name a few options. Waitresses are very friendly, attentive & efficient at all times.

Great food. Specials are amazing. Save room for dessert, you won't be disappointed. Can get busy during lunch but parties of 1 or 2 get seated fast. Well worth the wait. Train track upstairs to show kids.

never had a bad meal here. never had a bad server. even when its busy. i frequent this place every other month. food is comparable to diner food but it has a regular restaurant feel to it. prices however are very affordable! it has just ok parking out back. but there is plenty of street parking. the restaurant is in an old bank building. you can see the servers running in and out of the vault!

so glad I stopped by here yesterday for lunch. not only was the building cool (a converted brownstone that used to be a bank) but they had excellent service, cheap prices and great food. i had the hot ham and cheese on a pretzel roll. came out quickly, was only $5.25 and was a big size. also had lettuce, tomato (it was good and red, surprising for this time of year) and an interesting sauce - somewhat reminiscent of thousand island mixed with honey mustard. can't quite put my finger on it, but it was great!
will definitely try to come back here again as i am in this area quite a bit for work! -

Pleasant staff, the dinner rolls were awful but the ham loaf, mash potatoes and Brussels sprouts were delicious. My husband had stuffed cabbage and bread filling. The cabbage was good but the stuffing was ugly. He said the food was, " eh!" that means ok but not great.

Heck of a building inside and out. Went here for an early lunch so it wasn't crowded. There seemed to be a lot of choices on the lunch menu. I went with the hot ham and cheese on a pretzel roll. It was thinly sliced ham and so so good! I definitely enjoyed it to the last bite. And to top it off it was reseasonably priced! You can't get any better than that! This place also looked like it had a pretty good breakfast menu. Heard it gets crowded on the weekends, so I'm either going to hit a late breakfast or early lunch some time soon. Oh, and upstairs apparently they have a toy train that you can watch go around when you sit upstairs. IDK guess I'll see if it's true.

Middletown doesn't have much, but it does have the Brownstone Cafe. The dishes here are huge, and they don't cost much. Definitely worth the price. I've tried the chicken pot pie, Brownstone combo (steak and crab cakes, yummy but filling), and veal parmigiana. All were good. I think I'll get some dessert one day.
One thing about this place, though, is that frequent visits force you to invest in elastic waistbands. -

if I ever go to Harrisburg again, I will definitely go to this place for my breakfast. I love it! Very nice people who work there; seems like it was a family business, with all the old photos they have, great, cozy place, I enjoyed every bite of my hashbrown casserole and a cup of coffee. I love everything vintage, and this place offers it, so that's why three stars is what they get from me. Awesome place overall.

Time for breakfast.. oh yes it is. I love the Brownstone for a nice comforting breakfast. Very friendly staff and has this local diner feel but without the sticky floors. Its a nice building in the center of town, a stone throw from the rail station and serves up a great stack of pancakes. You look around and can tell everyone this morning made a special trip to the Brownstone, almost like a saturday/sunday morning tradition. Worth a try in the morning and your coffee cup will never be empty.

Highspire, PA
Excellent place for cheap food and atmosphere! We were very impressed with the whole setup, the beautiful brownstone (obviously) building as well as the interior which is so elegant when walking in. The place is simple but very classy and casual at the same time. We were seating promptly on walk-in on Saturday night. The menu has a great variety of food and many option, some which are a little ethnic which is nice. They had typical American fare, some Polish items, rice dishes, salads, sandwichs with fresh meats and soups. The prices are cheap like a diner but the food is much much better quality! this is a definite place to go for a nice, quiet, cheap yet tasty dinner.

Went here for breakfast. Food was awesome. While it was technicaly wheelchair assessable it was very tight. They had to clear the hallway of stored stuff for us to get through. Very nice and friendly people. Would have given them 4 stars if it had better access. Will probably go back but maybe a less busy time so easier to move around.
