I love Browns Valley Market! We've lived in Browns Valley for 19 years and shop there about once a week. Incredible selection of cheeses and the cheese monger knows his stuff! Always a nice choice of wines and reasonably priced, great place to find local specialty items. The staff is always ready to help and never have to stand long in a line to check out. My mom lives out of town and when she visits brings along her ice chest so she can stop at BVM on her way home and stock up on things she can't find anywhere else. : )

I have composed a short poem just for you Brown's Valley Market:
BVM has outstanding meat,
Your prices surely can be beat.
The butcher is hot,
The checkers are NOT.
5+ stars for the marinated steak. It is expensive but the top quality beef is totally worth it.
-1 star for the customer service of the check gals. They were extremely rude to me and the only communication the fake n bake blonde asked me was "paper or plastic" and she continued her conversation with the fake n bake brunette. Um excuse me....I am paying for this expensive meat, I would love to hear "Why hello miss, how are you doing today?"
5+ stars for the hot butchers. Nothing hotter than a man who knows how to deal with meat. -

An acquaintance told me that this is one of the few places near him that does full on whole animal butchering. Im talking walk into the cold storage and see full carcasses hanging. Old school. He drummed a huge collection of house sausages for the grill and man did they fly like hotcakes. As Anthony Bourdain puts it "delicious meats in tube form". 4.5 stars

REVIEW OF THE DELI COUNTER:
i know this place is probably very good. they have a menu and display case full of seemingly delicious items. everything froo-froo, sorta pricey, but good quality. hell, i DO know where this is. NAPA.
but im very very bitter i was handed over an $8 caprese panini that ended up being toasted on the outside and completely cold and uncooked inside. this was biting into it mere minutes after purchasing in the car. it took nearly 10 minutes to make so what the eff?
GAH, probably the worst consumption is when you are all prepared for something warm...melted cheese...delicious...and instead, bite into cold toasted bread, cold tomato, solidified mozzarella. it was like i was handed over a pre-made panini that came straight from a fridge instead of a panini press.
sigh...le sadness.
we were in a hurry to get to the city but under normal circumstances that should have been returned and remade. seriously disappointing. and i had to gobble the entire thing because i was starved and we wouldnt be eating again for hours. then i had to eat a cereal bar on top of it because it wasnt filling enough :-/
my sis lives in napa so at some point ill be back and able to give it another try. i wish i had just gotten a cold turkey sandwich, honestly. like $2 cheaper, includes meat and complimentary cheese selection, and from the looks of it...huge and satisfying.
So basically...make sure your panini is cooked before you leave!Listed in: Hey, Hey, im in the Bay!

Great little market to pick up lunch and snacks for your wine tasting endeavors. Food management is very important.
The deli counter isn't the fastest, but you can place your order and then peruse the rest of the store for supplies.
Cheese and produce selection looked great. Good variety of drinks and snacks. -

I tend to get the most high maintenance sandwich but today I stuck with corned beef with swiss-it was alright. I should have just gotten my usual but it seems that when I walk in a few of the poor deli workers slip into the back to hide. HA! I will always go back as they make the best sandwich and it too convenient to go anywhere else.

Since moving to Napa this past summer I have been to BVM at least 2-4 times a week! It is a little expensive, however they are the only butcher that carries yummy tri tip and ball tip from Kinders!!! If you have not had Kinders and live near Browns Valley... run to get your steak on!!
My kids love the restroom, I love the ease of ready made healthy meals to go. My kids love the large fruit selection, I love the desserts! My kids still love the bathroom (lol, you will know we are there because they run to the bathroom like clockwork! I think they like that it is in the backroom and they can see behind the scenes!) And I love that its like Cheers, everyone knows your name! Yeah for Browns Valley.. every town needs a cute small neighborhood market! -

Browns Valley Market, how do I begin? I feel like we are best friends! You have seen me thru it all...whether I look like a MILF or a disgusting person in my sweatsuit that has not showered for days because of my new baby.
Since I am moving to LA I will miss you so much, I love your fresh produce, the butcher, the smiling highschool kids that always help me and let me write checks since I am unorganized and forgot my credit card. Yes, your deli did cater my 4th of the July party that was the BOMB! Your wine department has gotten me thru the first year of parenting, your baby food and formula have made sure my baby thrived since he is always hungry and your Butcher is the best in town in the picky , finicky area of Napa Valley, foody capital of USA. I love you and I miss you already! xoxoxoxooxoxo -

Yes, BVM is pricey, but they have so many qualities that make it so worthwhile to be a consistent customer. Their deli sandwiches have always been made to near perfection for me. With their Andee's Mints with each sandwich for the finishing touch ... my heart and stomach always feel warm and fuzzy.
They also have just about the complete selection of Kettle chips which makes is harder for me to just pick one and go. Their selection of drinks is amazing and has you freezing your butt because you can't seem to choose which one you want. Lastly, the service is always friendly.
BV is where it all began for me for my love of Napa.Listed in: Wine Country

You would think that Napa would have several top notch markets competing with each other. Unfortunately, there aren't. One clearly holds the top position as providing the highest quality meats, seafood and service. This is Brown's Valley Market.
Family owned, the staff is cheerful and friendly, unlike the aloof, surly, staffers at Vallergas. The QUALITY of their meat beats that of all the other markets in town. The price of their meat beats Whole Foods and Vallergas by a country mile. An example would be applewood smoked bacon that is generally $1.50 PER POUND LESS expensive than Vallergas and MUCH leaner to boot!
I guess being family owned and not a corporate cog provides an advantage. Check them out! -

Best meat in Napa!! The meat department is hands down the best place in Napa for quality meat at a reasonable price. Don't go looking for Safeway-esque pricing, but expect to pay less on average than the "other" high-end meat markets in town. Better than Vallergas and Whole Foods, when put to the test. AND friendly, knowledgeable staff, which can be lacking at the other two locations.
Major must-try, do-not-miss selections:
1) Rib-eye Steaks - AMAZING!! I rubbed these with sea salt and threw them on the grill; no further prep necessary.
2) Marinated Tri-tip - house secret! Try any of their marinades and you will not be disappointed. tender, juicy and oh-so-flavorful!
I know what I'm having for dinner tonight!!! -

An excellent deli counter with a great sandwich selection, just make absolutely sure they get your order right as I have had them occasionally confuse mustard with mayo. Everyone that works in the store is friendly and helpful, never once couldn't find something so long as it was there.
The cheese selection is great albeit a little pricy but it's hard to find cheap specialty cheeses in this city anyway. Parking can be a tad limited at rush hours but it usually clears out fast. -

Great neighborhood market if you're, well, in the neighborhood. I've stopped in for miscellaneous items far too many times to count that one would think I was a local. If you don't need to do major shopping and only need to pick up a few things, BV is a great alternative to dealing with the crowds at Trader Joe's or Whole Paycheck.

Awesome fru fru market ;) They make amazing sandwiches, and their paninis are to die for! My favorite is the Pesto, Tomato & Mozzarella. I also love their prepared foods, especially their pastas! Lots of organic juices and drinks that you don't find at your regular market, and they have a HUGE cheese selection, which I love!

I love love love this market. It reminds me a lot of Brian's or Mollie Stones in the city -but with a little bit of a break on the prices.
We had the best marinated hanger steak from here for a super great price - and tons of little samples (cheeses/soups/olive oil+crackers) strategically placed all over the market.
This is a great place to stop for picnic goods (sandwiches, dips/spreads, prepared foods, CORN DOGS!) when you're on your way to the wineries. -

The wine guy (Michael?) stocks good wines and always has interesting and well-priced recommendations. Add to that a good produce section, meat counter, and deli/cheese area.

This is where a lot of the locals buy the best meat in Napa Valley. Beautiful tri-tips already marinated and a produce department stocked with items that a lot of the chain grocery stores sometimes don't carry. They have a great area for cheese of all kinds, also. I don't do the majority of my shopping there but it's a great place for specialty items and the people are really friendly.

Far too pricey a place to do all your basic grocery shopping, but their deli and meat department are excellent and it's a great place to find specialty foods. I've always found the staff to be very helpful, too.

Great family store. Good meats and eats. They are getting better with their customer service ( which was lacking) and now is a much nicer place to shop. If your in the area in need of food this is a great stop
