Review from Pascal P.
My parents recently bought a Mazda3 from here and the experience was mostly positive. Their situation was a bit complicated since they were moving from outside of the country and wanted to have the car ready for pick-up when they arrived. For a little while I got a bit annoyed with the dealership because they were slow to respond to voicemails and e-mail, but eventually they had the car available as promised.
We were able to get a good price but that was thanks to the Costco car buying program. In the past I'd assumed that such programs were for people who didn't want to negotiate and would give you a decent but not great price, but no other dealer I contacted was able to offer a better price on a Mazda3.
I was debating between giving Brown's three or four stars since their early non-responsiveness did get a bit frustrating. If it were possible to give them 3.5 stars I would, but after all the car dealer horror stories I've heard Brown's Mazda was actually pretty good. -

Brown's Chantilly is mad shady. Everyone seemed really nice and friendly, but they tried to sell me a preowned vehicle that was a lemon, although it has "passed the Brown's inspection". Thank goodness I had the sense to get the car independently inspected, because there turned out to be some major issues with the car.
Oddly enough though, after showing them all the things wrong with it, they tried to UP the price of the car. Uh, what?? Yeah, it didn't make sense to me either.Listed in: NoVA Car Dealers

So my significant other and I wer elooking for used cars. We found a car that had a pretty good price (much lower than others in teh same market). We were told that there were some issues with the car. They allowed us to test drive the car and then were told we would be called back when the car was fine. We were then called in at a later date being told the car had passed Brown's inspection.
I then took the car to an independent mechanic and he pointed out 7 major problems with the car. Parts of the underbody were actually held on by duck tape and spray. I'm not sure if this was done by Brown's or by the previous owner but this car was an absolute mess. Upon talking to the people at browns, they said that they would be willing to "touch upon" some of the issues but raised the price of the car to reflect the changes. At this point, we walked away from this dealership and others with the same namesake.
Morale of the story: Always do an independent inspection and you always get what you pay for! -

We bought a used Mazda CX-7 last week and had some work (covered by warranty) that needed to be done. They were simple fixes- a button on the steering wheel that stuck, and a check on the seat heater temperature to make sure it was functioning at 100%- so we opted to get it done ASAP.
My husband called in on Friday and they told him to bring the car by later that day. He drove out there and said he'd wait for the car since they were going to "take less than an hour". He made himself at home in front of the PS3 showcasing Gran Turismo while he waited. He only had time to play three games (at a few minutes each) before they were done with his car. After checking that everything worked, he headed back home... less than 15 minutes later.
He doesn't remember who helped him, but he was completely satisfied with the work they did.
The sales department wasn't as helpful (we stopped by there first to check if they had used CX-7s before buying elsewhere). We dealt with a guy who seemed to have ADD and wasn't super informative when we asked questions. He did look up other Mazda dealerships in the area to see if they had CX-7s but he didn't go above and beyond to find the "right one" for us. Bummer, since we would have loved to buy a vehicle from them.
Regardless, we'll be back for more service work. -

My wife and I purchased a Miata MX-5 earlier this year. While they did have the lowest price, we both felt like we were dealing with 'used car salesmen'.
When we first arrived and let the receptionist know that we wanted to test drive a MX-5, we waited for 30 minutes to be helped.
Beware, they may have the lowest price, but you may want to take a shower when you get home! -

I am the service manager of a locally owned family auto repair shop. We have 8 stores all together. We have been using Browns parts department for a couple years now with decent service. Recently our service is less than bad. The parts guy Steve is a hard worker and pretty efficient about getting our parts handled but....... he is always alone and has to put people on hold for 20 mins at times. Unfortunately we cannot afford to spend our valuable time on hold or leaving messages when we can just get better service elsewhere. Needless to say we will not be using Browns in the future.
