The Brown Paint Company

I received Kelly Brown's information as a recommendation from an Architect that I respect and I'm grateful for the connection. Initially after Kelly came by to quote on our home, I didn't hear from him for a while and got a bit concerned he wouldn't respond. He was the last of the 4 companies I had quote to respond, however after he sent his quote a week later, he was very quick to turn the project around. Early in fact -
even after we added sections to the project after he started. Not only was the painting done with great precision and quality, but he used the most eco-friendly, high-end paint on the market and the project was very competitive in price. Kelly was very personable and efficient and we were very happy with the outcome. Although it was a bit frustrating at the beginning waiting for the paperwork to be finalized, it was totally worth waiting for.

I have used Kelly for 2 projects. I was happy with the outcome of the first project, my bathroom, but not with the process of the second, my laundry room. Communication with me, the homeowner, was essentially non existent. Workers would show up, I wasn't aware and wasn't home so the project was delayed. I'd go long periods, several days, with no word regarding the next steps. I would call, leave messages, be given the run around. Eventually I tired of all this, stopped the work and have since asked for the return of money I had paid for work not done. I got a partial reimbursement but cannot get the courtesy of return calls to discuss the remaining disputed amount. I hesitate to give 1 star. Be very wary.

I highly recommend this company as we have used them for 9 years. Reliable, helpful, honest, competitive, creative. Honestly, can't say enough! Kelly has helped us on so many projects. We most recently used him to remodel our kids bathroom, framing, and custom art niche built-ins. He has painted our house again and again... Kitchen cabinets always get loads of compliments. Kelly's resources are the best and he works with and sees all the high-end stuff- but delivers on a any budget. Thank you Kelly...you have made our projects come to life and we appreciate you so much! -

The Brown Paint company is amazing. They contracted to do the exterior of my home and it was all done in a week. The crew was respectful, competent and swift. My home looks amazing. I cannot recommend their services more highly.

UPDATE AS OF 10/02/08:

Well what do you know? The people at Brown Paint Company know how to use the Internet and they have seen my prior review.

So, after calling this company DOZENS of times (literally, my assistant has made dozens of calls and left messages that have never been returned), Colleen from Brown Paint Company finally got back to us (Colleen is one of the owners). Previously, they had told us that the refund check was "in the mail". The latest update is that Colleen has told my assistant that they will not issue the refund until, in Colleen's words, "your boss stops writing nasty things about us online and deletes his review". You gotta love the power of Yelp.

Evidently, the statement that the check was "in the mail" was yet another lie.

So, it appears we have a stand-off. They will not issue the refund until I delete this review and I am certainly not going to bow down to their threats. Fortunately, I have the resources to get my attorneys (and the authorities) involved. These people need to learn a lesson.

There are also many more places online that I could post this review. Hmmm... Something to think about.

I would describe this company as a borderline criminal enterprise at this point. Deal with them at your own risk.

I so love working with this crew! Kelly is awesome and his team is amazing. They remodeled my kitchen removing an old ugly bar and installed granite counter-tops. It wasn't an easy task to level the bar, moving electric, installing my new fancy faucet etc. But they did it and did a great job. They even had to match the backsplash tile in one areas and you can't tell where the old was and the new began. His team has a great eye for detail. If I can figure out how to attach a photo to this post, I'll add one later.

Thanks Kelly and Colleen. You guys are awesome. Can't wait to start the next job!

I heard about the team at The Brown Paint Company from my friends at CrossFit Central who had used them for projects and were very satisfied.

The Brown Paint team just completed multiple projects at my house including, building a screened-in porch, staining two porches, and re-staining a garage door.

The screened porch was built based on a picture I sent them that I found on Google. They modified and built it to our request and it looks great.

Kelly Brown and his team are hard workers and made every effort to complete my requests until they were sure I was completely satisfied. In addition, Kelly Brown came by on several occasions to review progress, assure quality, and confirm I was satisfied.

I plan to use The Brown Paint Company again for a project in the near future and would recommend them without reservation. Thank you all.

This is my first yelp posting and the reason is The Brown Paint Company. Kelly and his talented, experienced and skilled team continue to deliver quality work on time. The Brown Company have worked in concert with my wife, our interior designer and I to up grade our 14 year old home from nice to spectacular modern transitional.

Brown Paint Company painted parts of our house and did an amazing job. We have custom wood trim on all of our windows and doors and it all looks great. I like the guys that came to our house, we even had them back to stain our door once we got a new one put in. I was questioning the color stain we chose at first, but they did a really solid job and I'm in love with it all.

Kelly is great, Colleen is wonderful. All around I'm a big fan of this painting company.

I saw Brown Paint Company's work at a client's home several years ago. When it was time to remodel my kitchen I knew just who to call. Their workers are meticulous and polite and my cabinets look brand new. I also had them stain my front door and it came out awesome!

I will definitely use this company for any future paint jobs.
