Review from Amber C.
Ann Arbor, MI
I'm not sure I have ever had a pleasant salon experience before this one. For whatever reason, I always ended up in someone's chair who was apparently deaf to my wishes. Needless to say, I rarely walked out of a salon feeling like a million bucks. Luckily, that was before I tried Brown & Deline.
Despite the fact that I was a walk-in, Amy devoted her full attention to me, and she gave me exactly the cut I wanted. Besides that, she was sweet, doled out a lot of great advice and used amazing products on my tresses (thanks to her, I am now a Moroccan Oil addict). My normally unruly mass (or maybe mess would be more appropriate) of hair has somehow become manageable and (dare I say it?) sleek after Amy got her hands on it. I'm not entirely sure what sort of magic she performed, but you can guarantee I'll be back in her chair for my next haircut.
Bonus: The prices are fantastic. Amazing service, friendly staff and fantastic new look aside, I'm used to paying $50+ for a haircut, but mine ended up costing only $26 here! -

Was having Halina wax my brows because she had received such glowing reviews. At first, I was impressed at the time and care taken with me. However, things changed. She began rushing me through my appointments, small hunks of brow hair would be missing here and there and finally, she removed the entire half of one eyebrow! No thanks, party's over.

I love this place! I had my very first pedicure ever with Brittany and it certainly was not my last. Her signature pedicure is pure heaven on earth, over an hour and a half of softening, soothing and beautifying while you sip a mimosa and relax. She makes me feel so comfortable and cared for. My nails last over a month and are so smooth and perfect. She is a goddess of nails and she really knows what a spa pedicure means, go to her and you are sure to be spoiled for anything less than the best.
Try getting your eyebrows waxed by Kerry, quick as a wink and makes them look better than they have ever looked. I am so very impressed with her, even with my sensitive skin they are all better within minutes and none of that red puffiness. If you get nervous she is able to soothe and reassure you, what a pro.
You have to try Brown & DeLine, I miss them so much now that the Ypsi location is closed. The Jackson Rd locale is a hike Thanks so much to the great staff, you really do know how to make a woman feel amazing. Easily one of the top five salons in the southeast lower Michigan area. Worth every penny!
One star deduction for the less than stellar deign of the place, just kinda 80s.Listed in: Spas, Salons and Massage

Review from Nancy K.
If you are like me and polish doesn't stay on as long as you'd like, try the new Shellac... life changing.
No, I'm serious... life-changing.
It goes on your natural nails, so you're not going to add length, but what you will add is glorious, slick, looks wet/just done nail color that is essentially indestructible. And if you're me, that's a really good thing. I inevitably screw my nails up while walking out of the salon (I think last time was the first time in my life that didn't happen) and when Ashley was done with them yesterday and I was being all crazy and careful she was like, "Oh, you're done," and I said, "Dry?" and she grabbed and swiped them.
Holy good God, I may never go back to regular polish... except for one thing: there aren't more than a dozen colors right now.
But still... amazing.
There's a base coat that gets cured with UV lights and then two coats of polish (cure each hand while the other is being painted) and then a topcoat. Voila! Everything gets cured quickly and lasts for 14 days. At that point you have to either get it off and redone or get it off and not get it redone.
My guess is I'll get it redone.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Lauren L.
My mortgage prevents me from going here as often as I'd like, but over the course of four years I've tried a lot of Brown & Deline's services: pedicure, manicure, massage, facial, brow waxing, hair cut/style, highlights, and full hair color. The classic pedicure is my favorite; it's so relaxing, my feet look and feel amazing afterward, and the polish has always stayed intact for a surprisingly long amount of time afterward.
Here's a rundown of some of the other services:
-Brow waxing: Halina is a miracle worker.
-Manicure: Pleasant, nothing hugely memorable.
-Massage: Joe is EXCELLENT. He can cure my lower back soreness for months at a time.
-Facial: Nice to get once in a while for maintenance reasons and awesome when they massage your neck/shoulders, but occasionally uncomfortable with all the steam and the poking and prodding.
Vicki has done amazing things with my hair, both in terms of cut and color, but because she's so awesome and has won all kinds of awards, she is one of the most expensive stylists. But seriously, you can just go to her and say, "I don't know; do something with this rat's nest" and completely trust that she'll make you look good. I also had my hair cut and colored by Becky once, and she did a great job. Both of them were just so sweet and fun to talk to.
Two reasons for my four-star rating (instead of five): One is the decor, which Liz W. accurately described as '80s; it's a stark red, black and white combo that is really not relaxing at all. The other is based on my experience with the owner, Cathy. She cut and highlighted my hair one time when Vicki wasn't available before a wedding I was in; the cut she gave me was rather matronly (I was 25), and she decided to give me extra highlights without asking, which isn't the best idea because I'm not meant to be a blonde.
Also, while Cathy was cutting my hair, she and two of her employees got into an extended discussion about weight where she actually told a gorgeous young woman considerably smaller than me that she "should probably lay off the fast food." Way to make me and your employees feel confident! It was a huge turn-off, and it made me feel bad for the staff.Listed in: Ann Arbor health and beauty

Review from Becki B.
I've had lots of good experiences at Brown & Deline. I've had my nails done there regularly, spent a lot of time tanning there, had my hair done a few times and (my very favorite) had lots of waxing done by Helena.
Everything has been professional, relaxing and exactly what I wanted. It's always nice to walk in and be offered a drink while waiting for your services. I'd recommend Brown & Deline for women, men or children looking for quality salon services. -

Good news: Kat is back! One of my fave colorists!
Bad news: Kerry is no longer there.. she used to give me the best eyebrow waxes EVER. I wish I knew where she went..
One place where they really fall short is their decor/ambiance. I guess I should say, lack thereof. Their prices are pretty standard to the area, yet with so many beautiful and relaxing salons you wonder why they haven't updated. I know the price I am paying is for the expertise and the service, but considering the amount of time you sit there while they work on you one would think they'd make it easier on the eyes!Listed in: Ann Arbor

Review from Jessa B.
The best place to get your hair done in Ann Arbor. After having a major hair dilemma, I got a referral here by someone I saw on the street. She had the most amazing hair color I had ever seen! I went in to see Jayme Wagner blind, and this was scary for me. But omg did she deliver! I have never been so happy with my color. Ever! The price is about the same as any other salon around here but Jayme really is spectacular!

I have been going to Brown and Deline for 4 years and have only had the best of service. Jill H. is amazing with hair and they have great nail technicians (Brittany is great) and massage therapists. Many people comment on my hair and I'm always sure to tell them that Brown and Deline is great!
