***This is for several visits to the passport services. I needed to update my name and renew my child's passport but had to go back 3 times because (my bad) I forgot or misplaced documents needed.
So I haven't been to the courthouse since the renovation. The passport office is on the first floor, that's all they do back there. They were extremely pleasant and helpful and shockingly sympathetic when I realized I had to go and come back a few times. Go online and make a list and gather of all the items you need.
*They do not accept copies. This yielded me an extra visit. I had only a copy of my child's birth certificates (Broward county Health Dept will give you copies for money, check online, see what you need, that was an extra visit). I had a name change and they took my marriage license. They got mailed back with the new passport.
*You need at least one check just for the US State Department for the passport fee to them. I had switched purses, guess what no checkbook. Another visit. Broward county charges for passport pictures and a service charge ($35 this time) you can pay with cash or credit card.
*They take passport pictures. They give you two for $10. They give you one and attach one to your passport application.
*Make sure the form blanks accurately. If you're not too sure about something, wait and they will happily make sure you fill it out correctly. I had to get the absent parent consent form redone because the other parent filled it out incorrectly and forgot to attach front/back copies of his DL.
I ended up hearing on the radio about a Saturday "passport day" event from 9am-2pm. It was GREAT---yes. I left the original BC at home and had to go back and get it  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This was so worth it that to do it yourself at the post office forms and messing around trying to get passport size photos. I almost gave up.
My passport came super duper fast, too, within 2 weeks.
Ok Passport ladies and gentlemen. I see you! Lol.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jessica T.Fort Lauderdale, FL316Apr 21, 2015
You would enjoy this establishment if any of the following appeal to you:
-Standing in line for an hour while ONE person works the traffic window. It was 1PM, and I know people need to eat or whatever, but there was about 20 people in line. We have places to be too.
-Agitated people who scream and curse at the tellers because they were told wrong information. (Side note: not sure if it was the teller's fault or this lady is unable to get stuff taken care of correctly)
-Paying about $5 for parking, even if it's 4:30 on a Friday. And they only take cash.
-Being harassed by any number of random panhandlers surrounding the building.
The only reason this place gets one star is because the ladies up in the marriage room were fantastic with doing my paperwork.
Oh, and P.S., it is RIDICULOUS that you have to physically go here to set a court date for a speeding ticket. You should be able to do it online.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nina C.Fort Lauderdale, FL35151888Jan 11, 2013First to Review
These people are dumber than a bag of rocks! I went to register my marriage certificate and they sent me to 4 different places, just to tell me I needed an appointment- and then tried to make a appointment just to find out I didn't need to

Sometimes I wonder if the people that work here pay attention to their job. Simple change of address done months ago for a court date and they STILL sent it to the old address. Good thing my attorney got a copy too or I would again have been a no-show.

Mr. Howard C. Forman, it would be extremely helpful and time-saving, if you would note on your webpage that for the issuance of a marriage license, you have decreed that a 3rd person translator is needed when one party does not speak English (and the other party is not allowed to translate.) This was explained by the rudest clerk imaginable at the Deerfield Beach location. Also, the signs at the main entrance proclaiming that services have been curtailed due to budgetary cutbacks are a pretty lame attempt at finger pointing.
