Just got bought out by the people who own the Crusty Crumpet in the center. Place basically stayed the same, only food quality was a tad better than I remember. I used to come here with my father every weekend when I was little. I have fond memories of this place. The waitstaff is great, they are very attentive. Also, the price is AMAZINGLY low! However that reflects on some of the breakfast portion levels. Would have liked more home fries with my omelet, but that's my only complaint. I have never tried lunch or dinner here, or drank here. The breakfasts are good though. Would/have recommended this place to people.

We got there at about noon on a Saturday. The decor was pretty grim, the bacon tasted like artificially-flavored cardboard, the home fried potatoes were hard/unnaturally-colored/and flavorless, the coffee was average, and the waitress forgot to give us the glasses of juice that came with each meal. - My dining mate ordered the corned beef hash (which he normally LOVES) and didn't even eat half of it, it was that bad. I do not know know why this restaurant has such good ratings. On the positive side, the eggs (over easy for me, poached for him) were done perfectly and they buttered the toast nicely. The waitress was pleasant enough. - I visited the restroom on my way out and there wasn't any toilet tissue. (I hope I didn't plug up their plumbing with the paper towel!) - Sorry folks. It's time to call in Robert Irvine with Restaurant Impossible because the kitchen staff obviously does not care what the place looks like, nor do they taste their own food. - I cooked a kick-butt breakfast AT HOME this morning that would knock their socks off!

My family is divided on which is the better place to grab breakfast in Winthrop: my mother and my aunt prefer the Hi-Tide over on Shirley Street, while my cousins prefer Brother's. I, myself, have to side with my cousins.

While Hi-Tide is decent with great cornbeef hash, Brother's is just great. The food is dirt cheap and exemplifies the standard breakfast: eggs, homefries, toast, OJ, coffee, bacon, sausage. The place has the feel of an old-fashioned diner, with personable waitresses, laminated menus, brown, wooden booths, and coffee pots steaming.

The cherry on top: the place starts serving cocktails at 11am(!), which are also dirt cheap - cape codders for just 3 bucks!

My only complaints are that the service can be quite slow and they're kinda question-y when it comes to making sure you're 21.

B+ for eggs and bacon cooked exactly the way you want them, and cheap codders

Eggs, bacon, homefries, toast, and OJ for $5.00.   What's not to like?

Funny old fashioned lil joint where the waitresses call you "hun."

Their cocktails and beers are cheap too!  They have a full bar menu but no bar area, just booths.

Fun for a trip back in time both in price and decor.   Love simple little joints like this.   No need for a goddamn gruyere from a cow that was kept in an oxygen rich hyperbaric chamber at 2500 feet above sea level, cage-free warthog bacon & shiitake mushrooms omelette for $18 in Boston.

This place looks like it was starting to fade around the edges in the 70s and then was never updated. The music isn't fantastic, either, but the servers are all wonderful. They're the friendliest people in the world. They mesh completely with the whole vibe of the restaurant -- it's a bit, uh, fuddy-duddy, I guess, but also open and inviting.

I love going here because the food is very inexpensive yet super good. Picture a perfect, slightly greasy Saturday morning breakfast, and that's Brothers. The past two times I've went, I've gotten special #3 -- two eggs, home fries, toast, corned beef hash, coffee, and a small juice -- for $3.75. Everything was cooked just right. My roommate can vouch for the blueberry pancakes, which were also fantastic and cheap.

Tables fit two to four, but bringing a larger group would be difficult. It's a very family-friendly atmosphere and is almost never too crowded.

They also do lunch, dinner, and cocktails, but I've only been there for breakfast.

Pretty much an old style cafe that serves breakfast and lunch. Food is greasy and basically bland. The waitstaff is very attentive though. Coffee cup was never empty. Kind of smells though and then when you leave, you smell like food. Ick.

I love coming here for breakfast on Saturday morning when all I want is a greasy plate of eggs and bacon and toast. Oh, and mozzarella sticks. Yes, they've fired up the fryer and have made me mozzarella sticks at 9AM on a Saturday. That's what earns them three stars! :) Even if the cheese for the omelets taste like Velveeta (dude, I totally think it's Velveeta), but you gotta love watching the other restaurant patrons (more early bird special crowd than young hip crowd), and the Winthrop Senior Citizens Newsletter is also available for perusing while you wait for your meal. :) And the waitresses are absolute sweethearts!

Hands down my favorite place for breakfast in Winthrop.  This is literally a place where everybody knows your name because it seems that half of town eats breakfast here at one point of another.  Breakfast for two will barely crack $10.00 and food is fast, delicious, and filling.   Look for me in one of the well worn booths on the left side-  I'll be holding a place for you.

Terrific diner-style food for a great price.  Cheap drinks & a full bar.  Sweet waitresses.  Turkey club came with real, roasted turkey, not lunch meat turkey.  Grilled cheese w/ tomatoes for $2 was outstanding.  Chicken salad sammich was terrific.  We drove out from Boston for this, and will return.
