I've only been here twice, but it's pretty good. I had the Gyro plate which comes with Greek salad, rice pilaf, and the gyro meat, and pita. My favorites on the plate were the salad and the pita bread. I think next time I may just order that. The gyro meat wasn't bad, but not favorite. It tasted yummy, but not my cup of tea.
The ambiance is unique, I wouldn't say too casual, but not fancy either. It's an odd looking restaurant, but don't let that fool you. It seems to do decent business too. My husband got the Grapenut Pudding, which was huge and tasty! My son got a huge cup of ice cream too. The portions are definitely more than enough.
I'd give it another chance probably. -

Brothers Kouzina is another odd RT1 establishment, however they do offer a decent Greek cusine.
As I sit here recollecting my thoughts regarding Brothers Kouzina I'm seriously debating what its overall rank should be 3 or 4. It would be nice to put it at '3+' since overall the food for the most part was good, and the 5 other adults I was with basically liked it and my youngest daughter did as well.
One thing that strikes me really odd about this place is that overall all mixed feeling I get from there. Its like the place does not know wither to be more of a fast food take out place or a simi formal restraunt with club atmosphere.
The outside resembles more like you want to pick up a roast beef and large fry to go at 1:00 AM, as the parking lot co-exist with the 7-11 gas station and the sign in front looks like it was made for a generic strip mall in a rural community.
However inside had basically a nicer ambiance but them you had to mix in some chairs that again looked liked they came from 'Nicks Pizza' or something. The spanakopita was really good and as a general appetizer the table really liked it.
I had gyro and to quote another review on this "not the tastiest gyro meat I've had.
However, the tzatziki sauce was super thick & creamy" I have could have not said it better. I hear the desserts are good but none of us partook on it, according to my dinning friends who have in the past.
The wait staff where pretty courteous and accommodating, no issue there at all, the waiter was pretty engaging to my daughter so kudos there.
Overall I would recommend Brothers Kouzina and I really would like to give them 4 starts but I just cannot at this time. -

We had the grilled octopus special as an appetizer...it was the best octopus I have ever had! All of the Greek food was great....but the appetizer was so big I ended up brining 3/4 of my gyro dinner home.....which was great the next day for lunch!...The only complaint would be the specials are on a board right when you walk in and not anywhere else....the waitress doesn't even mention them unless you ask.
Great food....HUGE servings....very reasonable -

If you are debating on going here please debate no more. Walk away from the computer, go to Brothers Kouzina and get the gyro plate. So. So. Good.

Awesome greek diner food. A favorite Sunday morning place and the lines can sometimes be a bit long depending on the time. The Corned beef eggs Benedict are awesome. Great value

My first time at this establishment, and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. Our waitress was very nice and right there every time we needed something. My wife and I started with an order of huge grapeleaves and a peice of spinach pie. Both Very authentic and DELICIOUS. I had the Broiled Haddock and my wife had the Lamb Kokinisto for dinner. The fish was very fresh and you won't get a better bang for your buck anywhere. It was a very generous piece of fish and so tasty. Now onto the Lamb. My wife said it was the best lamb dish shes had outside of her mothers at home. It was succulent and the meat fell right off the bone. All in all, we will definitely be back, so happy we stopped in to try it out. I can't wait to try something new next time!

The only thing I ever get was the Chicken Lemon Soup and pita bread but it to die for - LOVE IT.
They also have a cute Martini Bar but I have yet to check it out. When I find someone to go with I will check it out. Looks cute.
I like this place and when I worked nearby I used to go all the time. I recommed this place for sure.
I am actually gonna get some soup this weekend.

Gyro & Fries (photo)
The gyro meat was a little on the dry side (like a soft jerky). It certainly wasn't inedible, but not the tastiest gyro meat I've had.
However, the tzaziki sauce was super thick & creamy and the pita was soft & chewy on the inside and crunchy & toasted on the outside...perfect!
I think I'll give this place another shot. -

I am only reviewing the breakfast we had over the weekend. To say nothing was horrible is the best I can do though the homefries and coffee were close.I ordered the western omelet and my wife had poached eggs and the corned beef hash. Her eggs were fine and though salty the hash was tasty. My omelet was acceptable but could have had 1/2 the onions. Here is my main gripe, the homefries. No seasoning no browning just a boiled potato cut into cubes and that was it! Okay they were horrible. The coffee was bitter, perhaps just burnt but in no way acceptable There are to many options out there to have to settle for this.

I have been here multiple times & the Greek food is great. I love the roasted lamb plate, it reminds me of a delicious home cooked meal. The meat falls off the bone & the lemon potatos are yummy. That is my favorite meal so far, but they all have been good. The price & service are very reasonable:) Cannot wait to go again

I used to come here a lot when they first opened. It was decent and close to home. I haven't gone in awhile so this review is from my last visit (years ago).
Food was ok, definitely had better. Being Greek myself, I was expecting it to be better than it was.
I remember I ordered the gyro plate and asked for extra tzatziki sauce and they charged me an arm and a leg for it; knowing how much it is at the store I was pissed.
Also ordered the Saganagi (fried feta cheese) was wicked expensive for the amount of feta you get (one small thin slice). I don't recommend this item!
There are better Greek places around, sad to say this one isn't one of them! -

This Greek-inspired restaurant was founded by the same guy who founded all those Brothers' Delis all over the North Shore. I've been a customer at Jimmy's Salem location in Salem (which he sold a few years ago) for about a decade.
But Brothers' Kouzina is unlike all those others. This is a real sit-down table service restaurant, although the menu will be quite familiar. The old deli has moved upscale a few marks, which is a good thing, adding a full-service bar to its repertoire as well.
The atmosphere is dark, but not dingy. The waitress and maitre d' were friendly and courteous.
While the menu has some variety of American and other cuisines, the specialty is obviously Greek. I took the Avgolemono (chicken and lemon) soup as my appetizer along with a Greek salad. My wife order the gyros.
The soup was hot and tasty, although I prefer it more lemony. The Greek salad had plenty of feta cheese and didn't skimp on the vegetables. My wife's gyros were excellent and tasted great as leftovers.
Brothers' Kouzina definitely goes on our list of places to consider when we're thinking of going out for a bite. -

My boyfriend and I love this place. The Lamb Kokonisto is fantastic! It's two giant lamb shanks braised in a delicious greek red sauce. I highly recommend trying the Greek roasted potatoes and the green beans as your sides. It's excellent comfort food!
My boyfriend loves their mussels as an appetizer or even as a meal. You'll want a spoon to finish up all the broth. Yum! This place is definitely worth the hike up treacherous Rte. 1. -

A definite "meh." My partner and I went here, having seen the throbs of customers several times before- figured that was good evidence of a quality meal.
From the greasy seats to the greasy food, this was one greasy disappointment. I give it 2 stars for the decent pancakes (although, please- is it that tricky to make a pancake?!), but the greek sausage I ordered was a greasy mess slapped on to a small plate, sitting in a pile of its own oil- yuck.
My partner's food was acceptable but certainly not very good. He ordered the ruben made "with the most select cuts of meat-" selected for fat and gristle, perhaps... And his coffee was easily instant folgers.
Perhaps they do better with greek classics, but the sausage was not a good indication of this and I feel strongly that anything a restaurant puts on its menu should stand up to every other item.
Needless to say, not coming back here any time soon... -

It's rare to find a place where you can get a quality meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But you can at Brothers.
The staff is friendly, the food is good. What more can you ask for?

Went here for my birthday, very accommodating for our unique seating arrangements. I can't imagine ever not enjoying myself here. I understand what this place is about... good, filling, Greek-style food. I don't expect any restaurant to perfectly replicate the authentic food that people grew up with eating in their homes and I am always satisfied with the atmosphere and the food.
The lamb is truly awesome, tender and succulent. Fish dishes have always been cooked to flaky perfection and never dry. Anyone can go anywhere and just happen to have a bad experience, but I've been here many times with my family and it really is a fine restaurant.
If you like Greek food and you understand that it might not be EXACTLY as your "yaya" cooked it, then you'll love Brothers Kouzina.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I've eaten here many mornings on the way to a hike. Probably the best and only choice for inexpensive, American breakfast on Rte 1: pancakes, french toast, waffles, eggs, omlets, etc. I've not eaten many of their lunch/dinner offerings but they have yummy, garlickly tzatziki and I was pleased to see Horiatiki salad on the menu. I only wish their tomatoes were red-ripe tasty instead of reddish-gray bland. It would make this traditional Greek salad taste much better.
The servers are generally friendly and attentive. The interior is welcoming enough. The restroom is clean. Overall, a great value.Listed in: Breakfast or Brunch

I LOVE THIS PLACE! MY WIFE LOVES THIS PLACE! I don't know where to start. The sides: Greek style roasted potatoes are not what you would expect, but so worth it - it's like they're roasted/braised. The Greek style green beans cannot be beat, served in a red tomato sauce that's slightly sweet and savory. The Moussaka and Pastichio are THE best - imagine the big ole slabs of these with roasted potatoes and green beans -OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH! The lamb kokinisto is great - braised lamb in a red sauce - great. It's definitely not a strict Greek restaurant, they serve Italian and American food as well. The desserts are incredible, baklava, chocolate cake, cheese cakes -wooooo.
Here's the best part, I recently found out that they serve breakfast - really good breakfast. Huge pancakes, great omelets, Greek sausages, kielbasa. Brother's Kouzina is the best. -

I have never in my life been exposed to Greek food like this.
I ordered what I assumed to be a greek staple, a gyro & souvlaki platter.
What I got was a massive portion of extremely fatty beef (???!) and chicken skewers made of thigh meat (??!).
The chicken was tough and chewy. The beef (sic.) gyro was inedible.
Service was good, but this meal measured far short of expectations.
I had to stop on the way home for dinner :( -

This place is becoming a favorite of me and my wife. In our experiences, it's not often you find well established, reasonably priced Greek restaurants outside of a city, but Brothers Kouzina definitely meets the bill.
The ambience inside is nice, and a pleasant surprise after the somewhat lacking exterior. The service has always been wonderful and usually fairly quick. We had the melted cheese appetizer (which I forgot the name of at the moment), which was delicious.
We have been there twice, and both times I have gotten a variant of the souvlaki / gyro dinner. The portions are very generous, and this particular one comes heaped with meat, delicious pilaf, greek salad, pita, and an excellent tzatziki sauce. They also have a decent "house" wine at a low price - not something you see often in America.
We will definitely be returning here to explore the menu further.
EDIT: Several months later, and I have to say this is absolutely my favorite restaurant on the north shore. I've strayed from my favorite gyro dinner a few times, and had a fantastic pasta. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. -

Quite possibly the worst Greek food I have ever had in my life. It was like warmed up geriatric cafeteria food. Had to send my pastichio back twice because it was cold in the center. My friend got the gyros platter and it was chopped up little pieces of fatty beef. Nothing resembling a gyros.
When we asked that both meals be removed from the bill we were greeted with huffing and puffing by the wait staff.
I have eaten at many Greek restaurants around the US and this takes the prize as the worst. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. -

I've been to Brothers Kouzina twice now, and both times I've been equally impressed with both the quality and quantity of food that I've been served.
The first time I visited, my boyfriend and I both got souvlaki plates - an ENORMOUS plate filled with three extra-long skewers filled with meaty chunks of delicious, lightly-charred pork, rice pilaf, and a greek salad. Neither of us could finish everything on our plates, and I must say that the food was absolutely, wonderfully, amazingly delicious. The service is worth noting, as well - our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive, happily explaining some of the menu options to us - a pair of very-non-Greek boys who were eager to try something new and exciting. She also promptly refilled our soda countless times, and we never had to ask for our refills - not even once.
The second time we went, my boyfriend got a chicken kabob, which was one of the daily dinner specials. It consisted of tender chunks of delicious, seasoned chicken, rice pilaf, and a heaping mound of vibrant-looking roasted vegetables. I ordered the grape leaves as an entree, and I was thrilled with what was delivered to the table - two bulging, fist-sized grape leaves, stuffed with perfectly-seasoned ground beef and rice and drenched in a tangy lemon sauce, with some tasty rice pilaf and asparagus on the side.
Both times, we left for under $40 INCLUDING the tip. Normally, this would be toward the top of my typical restaurant price range - but the huge portions and the quality of the food make the extra cost totally worth it.
So why not 5 stars? In all honesty, the guy at the front desk who seats people always seems just a little grumpy... not mean or anything, just not really friendly. Also, the last time we went, the service was still really friendly and generally efficient, but they all seemed just a little bit over-stretched. The tension between all of the servers was palpable, like maybe there were a few sick calls from their co-workers or maybe just more customers than they would normally expect at that time of day.
All in all, this is a GREAT choice for someone who's looking for a local restaurant with delicious food, large portions, and a classy-casual atmosphere.Listed in: Route 1 Dining Adventures

I wish Yelp could some how balance good/bad reviews...because this place is a prime example. 4 star Yelp rating but let me tell you it leaves a bad mark on Greek food...if you know what traditional greek food is. This place is garbage!
The food sits around and it gets old, thats why the flavor is off and the food tastes fatty.
The place makes business on the weekends for traditional Greeks people because they have greek music and is a perfect joint for any dude who wants a fling....i.e. pickup joint.
The servers are rude because they are not taught any differently from "management".
When you are driving on route 1 and see the restaurant and think to yourself, Bickfords? It is NOT any longer, but still don't bother with the food. Between the food and the tacky environment, I shall never return. -

Been here a couple of times and food is always solid and consistent. Excellent Greek salads, homemade Gyro and just good food overall.
Can be a bit pricy for lunch as most items are $9.99 and up on the lunch menu but the portions are HUGE. Easily get lunch the next day or dinner that night though. -

It is a very nice place, the waitresses are friendly, the food is tasty, what else one could ask for ? The menu is of an americanized greek variety, you will find kabobs, salads, tsatsikis, dolma along with burgers, french fries and steaks. A lot of lamb choices on the menu.
The portions are very large, we box I think most of our meals, it is physically impossible to finish. The place is kids friendly, there is a separate small kids menu, mostly burgers, mac and cheese, etc.
Make sure to try the baklava for desert, it is excellent. Not as good as Armenian, but pretty darn close.
Rated 5/5, much recommended. -

My boyfriend and I went here as a treat on Valentine's Day. The ambiance was certainly romantic. It was dimly lit and if I remember correctly, the walls were a deep red/maroon. We started with a hefty size Greek salad- the American style Greek salad, with lettuce, feta, etc. I love a nicely made Greek salad and this one was well done with all fresh veggies and hefty servings of feta and olives YUM! My boyfriend had the spanakopita and I had some sort of chicken and pasta dish that was very lemony and had feta. We thoroughly enjoyed both entrees. The meal was finished with a perfect piece of baklava. We arrived at about 6 and were seated immediately, though by the time we were eating our entrees there seemed to be a wait. Our waitress was pleasant, though clearly busy. In conclusion, my boyfriend and I enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing Greek American meal at Brother's Kouzina (the one on route 1 Peabody) and would definitely return.

Not quite a Greek restaurant so much as a restaurant that has Greek food. They have twice as much non-Greek food as they do Greek food.
They have delicious Greek plates such as moussaka, pastichio and souvlaki as well as an extensive menu with pasta, steaks and the like. This would be a fantastic place to take an indecisive group of people out for dinner, as they have a little of everything.
The decor was surprisingly modern, considering the drab exterior. Everything is absolutely delicious and filling, but I was a little disappointed that their Greek options were so limited. Regardless, I will be back. -

Mmmm Greek food......
Usually to get Greek food you have to settle for a cafeteria style deli. Well Brothers changes that. I have eaten here a few times and the food is always consistently good. The portions are huge, I'm a fat kid and have yet to finish one.
I had chicken Marsala and it was excellent, and my lady friend had eggplant parm that she was extremely happy with. I had some souvlaki (average) and their spinach pie (pretty good) both as apps and was completely unable to breath after consuming so much food.
The service was excellent, the waitress we had was like having a mom take care of you when you were sick, very attentive and actually appeared to care about our experience. I hear great things about their deserts, but I am always too full to attempt it. -
Review from Dan G.
I love it.
Finally I have eaten here! I probably got literally everything. The appetizer portions are pretty big, so be either very hungry or share with a large group.
The Mousaka app was huge, easily enough for 4 to share and enjoy and also REALLY good.
I recommend the Saganaki (fried cheese).
The grape leaves were good, a little large, but delish in a nice lemony sauce.
Eggplant rolatini -aweeesoommmme
Ok so their menu is pretty big and has something for everyone. One person in my party got a burger (ugh seriously) but they said it was one of the better ones.
I got the Deluxe plate which was perfectly seasoned Gyro and Souvlaki over rice with a salad. It was huge and easily could be split or have leftovers. The souvlaki was delicious, a little fatty but it was good.
It was my bday and they brought out a really fudgy chocolatey piece of cake, it was really good.
All in all I will be back, this place rocks for greek food and they also have some italian, seafood etc. Also, they always seem to be busy for breakfast when I drive by on weekends. -

I wish this place was closer, or IN, Boston.
I love Greek food and normally go to the Greek Corner in Cambrige. However, I went here a while back and really enjoyed my meal. Not as good as Greek Corner, but was definitely some of the better Greek food I've had in a while.
Portions were very generous and reasonably priced. I got the Chicken Kabob entree. So good. Served tons of veggies, rice, salad, pita bread. Yummy. I also got their egg lemon soup which was very light, but very flavorful as well.
The atmosphere is no frills, and I can envision it getting a little loud and chaotic in there on the weekends... but I also think it would be worth it! -

I came here on a search for grape leaves, one of my favorite foods ever.
I was not all that impressed. The grape leaves were ok. The glasses seemed a bit dirty. The wait staff was not very prompt.
Perhaps I just need to go back again and try other things, but at first glance, I'm not impressed. -

I love this place. The food is phenomenal and the service is exceptional. Every time that I go here I walk away full and happy.
There is ample parking, great food and good wine. I'm talking real Greek food for food lovers.
The grape leaves are fantastic. You know what, as I am writing this, I am drooling for them. Let me stop before I short my laptop. -

I like this place. It has some really good Greek dishes (although you have to sift through all the American ones). The gyro sandwich is great with good tsiziki sauce. The mousaka is awesome too. All the Greek dishes I've found to be authentic and well worth driving to.
One interesting thing I found was that on Saturday night they bring in live music and play Greek music and club tunes. Lots of people show up who all seem to know each other. Probably friends and family of the owner since they are all speaking Greek to each other.
Overall a good place to check out, especially if you like Greek food. -

My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant. He is also mediterranean and is so happy to have found a place that serves authentic souvlaki and gyro plates. The combo plate which includes both, comes with 2 skewers of souvlaki and authentic gyro meat shaved onto your plate. It comes with a heaping scoop of pilaf, salad, warm pita, and tzatziki.... I get the same thing but with chicken kabob..... the food is absolutely delish and the service is very good as well....
I always get the avgolemeno soup(greek chicken egg lemon) as a starter as well! Another good choice is the cheese pies or the grapes leaves. Anyone will love this place, especially because they give the choice between authentic greek cuisine or traditional american/italian dishes. Theres something for everyone! Enjoy! -

Came here on a non-busy night (Sunday) for dinner. The decor was unassuming but neat, but the real star was the Greek food.
The food here is AMAZING. The mousaka is hand-down the best I tasted anywhere, the meat dishes were cooked competently (both gyro and souvlaki), and the salads were tasty.
Would recommend to anyone wanting good, tasty Greek food. -
Review from Cliff S.
Danvers, MA
The only thing that keeps this from being 5 stars is that the food was overly salted. My wife and I have been looking for good, traditional Greek restaurant food on the North Shore for years. Any MIT/Harvard grads old enough to remember the Acropolis, the Averof, or the Athenian Taverna on Mass Av in Cambridge knows the kind of food I'm talking about. The shish kebab, baked lamb, chicken-egg-lemon soup, rice pilaf, and galatabouriko (spelling?) custard all brought back very fond memories. Ask for Greek coffee - it's not on the menu. The owner stopped by our table when we ordered it.
