    Drew and JR are awesome.

Apart from them, the food is as close as I can get to real southern BBQ. I mean it's Carolina BBQ, so more vinegary than my GA blood is used to, but it hits the closest to home. Also their margs are strong. :-)

Food was good, I ordered the sliced brisket moist, though it wasn't very moist. Our waitress Kate was awesomeeeeee and the service was good. The pitchers of beer were 10 bux during happy hour so that was nice too. The brisket tasted like a camp fire (which I enjoyed, but I don't know if you would)

BUT I still like dinosaurBBQ  better lol

Here's to the many faces of our Brother Jimmy.

There's the "let's get hammered" face, which is probably what he's best known for. Cheap cans of beer, fishbowls, and mystery punch only cover a part of what's on the drink menu.

There's the "let's get laid" face, which usually follows the "let's get hammered" face. Come relive your college years as you hit on chicks or frat boys who are loaded and eager for overnight company.

There's the "let's just have a quick drink" face, which usually shows up on weeknights after a long day at the office. Stay too long and you might be sucked into a triple OT game on the big screens or karaoke in the corner.

And finally, there's the "who wants BBQ?" face. While not the most authentic or upscale BBQ in the city, it's certainly passable. They've got all the usuals, such as pulled pork, brisket, and ribs, but really my favorites are the sides. Hush puppies, fried pickles, beans, mac n' cheese, and fried okra. YUM!

No matter what you're looking for, Brother Jimmy has you covered. If you stop in, tell him I say hi.

Amazing time, good people, VERY hospitable and SUPER friendly, and good drinks.  They keep it simple, friendly, and delicious.  What more could you want?

Our waitress Kate was great, our food was delicious and WAY too much, and with so many people in the house the energy makes the place enjoyable.  I can see why this place was packed on a Monday, and Southern Hospitality was a dead zone.  The mute zombies that work over at SH must've scared everyone here.

Thanks beautiful and friendly people at Brother Jimmys!  We'll be back!

I give it 3 stars, but I will admit I've always had a good time here. They opened their doors to me on Santa con, didn't get mad when I smashed the glass fish bowl on the ground by accident, and you get to keep the lil crocodiles they put in the bowls as straws. Honestly, I actually like the food here! Aside from being a crazy college bar where you could getcha self another Murray hill hookup, the Mac and cheese and ribs are yummy.

A good spot to go watch sports, drink cheap Natty Lights cans, and be surrounded by over-aged frat boys and the sorostitutes who follow them around. Also, not a bad place if hankering for a quickie BBQ and booze fix.

Basically a southern shack of a dive bar in a kitchy kind of way. Chicken wire, aluminum siding, college football banners, cute waitresses, colored lights, and around ten flat screens.

Most days there are usually some kind of food and drink specials going on. Cheapo PBR and Natty Lites in cans - boy oh boy! This place always makes me think that if NASCAR, Pro-Wrestling, Kid Rock, and Larry the Cable Guy had an orgy this would end up the child born of that

Not the greatest BBQ in the world, but still decent enough ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and hush puppies. There are usually 3 or 4 different types of sauces on the tables to pour on your meat selection. Strong mixed drinks are served up in mason jars like the neon blue Carolina Cooler. I have also downed a few Swamp Water's here - one giant mess of a drink served in a 64 oz fish bowl that is meant for sharing. I did share - a bit. I even got my dad drunk here once!

Goofy southern style atmosphere, lots of seating, ok BBQ at a reasonable price point, and friendly reliable service - if a bit scattered at times when crowded. Be forewarned, go early or subject yourself to frat city!

This was my consolation since my husband did not wait on line to eat at Steak and Shake.  Never mind I was completely ready to wait possibly 30 minutes to have a taste of two grilled steakburgers smothered with melted cheese...

He suggested we head over to Korea Town and somehow this place caught my eye.  "How bad could it be," I thought.

Well, as soon as we walked in, I noticed I didn't like the noise level of this place that was only half filled.  The hostess suggested the upstairs seating area.  The din quieted down a bit and it was a pretty big space upstairs.

This looked like a good place to hang out with friends after an evening at MSG.  My husband and I both had the pulled pork with cole slaw in a wrap.  We were going light.  We were both surprised that the pulled pork did not come in BBQ sauce.  They also weren't the biggest portions either although mine came with a heaping mound of sweet potato fries.  Honestly, the pulled pork did not have a lot of flavor and my side of sweet potato fries were better.  Also my husband's side of potato salad was very good as well.

Water came in jelly jars which I though was quaint.   Not a place to make a special trip, although if I was in the area again, I might go for the ribs, just to give it a second chance.

Just a note:  This place is very kid-friendly.  They get special menus and crayons and children under 12 eat free as long as an adult orders $10 or more.

I agree that this place should have 3 stars but if I could give it a half star, I would!

Had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac & cheese, and I was the first one to finish eating.  Also had a hard cider (feeling low-key that day) to complement my meal.

I'm a fan!  I know it's not the best but still fun - they even have a photo booth!  Pulled pork was pretty delicious (after I tried and doused it with 3 different sauces.)

Overall, I can see why this place is popular.  As we were leaving, the live band had set up and began playing music.  Not bad.  Not bad at all.

My boyfriend and I were walking around the Upper East Side trying to figure out what to eat. Nothing too expensive as we have valentines day and our birthdays coming up! So we passed "Brother Jimmy's BBQ" and glanced at the menu and saw $0.35 cent wings (and it wasn't 35 cent wings with any purchase or buying beer, just 0.35 cent wings... A Saturday special from 12-4 the place had!) We decided to try the place out and my boyfriend had told me that Brother Jimmy's BBQ was where all the alumni from the University of Miami go to watch the games (YES, he is a UMiami boy)!

Everyone was friendly when we walked in and it had the "typical" bar feel to it. Arcade games, loud music, Christmas lights all over, and all these cool pictures on the walls. Our waitress was super friendly and told us that they had three different types of wings we could choose from (BBQ - spicy, Chipotle - which was spicy but had a little sweetness to it, and naked - for all you non-spicy lovers, just plain wings). Since my boyfriend hates spiciness he chose the naked ones and to switch it up I decided that as much as I don't like anything spicy, that I would try the Chipotle flavored one.

As we were waiting for our wings we ordered a $12 pitcher of bud light to enjoy with them. When our order finally came, we got our wings with a side of blue cheese. The naked plain ones were delicious and mine were good if they hadn't been so spicy. The chipotle wings weren't spicy to the point where I had to drink a full glass of water, but enough to make my tongue tingle! But really yummy, nonetheless.

We skimmed through the menu to see the other prices and what they had, it was all very reasonable. We also saw another table getting a frozen margarita and it just looked so good! I will definitely be coming here again to try a fishbowl or maybe even a frozen margarita.

If you are a person who wants everything high and classy then this place is not for you. If you are the typical girl who loves fancy places but can totally get down on wings and beer with your man then this is the place for you to go. Low key and fun! - Enjoy!

    i love this place!!

decided to come here saturday with my bf for some drinks and fun.
we had a blast. the music on saturday night is great- diverse and hip.
the crowd is typical bar style.

we had the most amazing wings!! my bf and i were both shocked at how delish these hot wings were. might be the best wings i've had.

we had two fishbowl drinks that were good too!

prices are reasonable, crowd is cool, atmosphere is awesome.
the staff is super nice too. we even took pics in the photo booth lol

will be a regular at my new home!

i quite dont get the negative reviews on this place.

I organized a work event here last night. Yes, I do work downtown, and most of the analyst classes are spread through Jersey City, FiDi and the Bryant Park area...so this was equally inconvenient for all!

We set up a set number of drink tickets and food for a fixed price, tax and gratuity included. The manager, RJ, was awesome and super helpful. Not to mention pretty cute! The were very accomodating and worked within the budget I was given for the event.

Everyone said the food (rib tips, wings and quesadillas) was really good. I didn't have any, but it all looked really tasty.

We had a private room reserved and three waitresses to take care of us. They were such sweethearts and kept the drinks flowing. (Alcohol tends to make networking much easier...)

We had the room for two hours, and we managed to go through about 60 drink tickets for 10 of us. Success.

Huge pet peeve, being ignored in a place where either I or my companion will be spending their money.

I waited, by the hostess podium with a friend and his mom for a good 5 minutes not being acknowledged by anyone. Hate that!!! If my friend's mom were not there, I would have walked out. So, I went to the bar, and asked the bartender if they were serving food now. She very cheerfully says 'we're always serving food'. I asked if we could seat ourselves. She very cheerfully said 'yeah of course, sit anywhere you like' Why couldn't she be as cheerful and friendly when she was avoiding eye contact with us while we were standing by the door?

After that point, the waitstaff was very accommodating and friendly. Yes, all very saccharine. The food was OK. Nothing special. Not even really worth mentioning the food except that while waiting for our check, my tummy rebelled and made it very clear it was very angry with me. Aint going back!

    5 stars for the fishbowl!

Fish bowl is such a fun drink. It comes with a lizard in the fishbowl and a bunch of long straws. My friends and I had 4 fishbowls and It tasted very sweet and light but the alcohol gets you before you know it.

I didn't had any food here so I'm only rating it for the fishbowl.

They serve fishbowls with rubber alligators in them. It's so awesome. I appreciate the little things, what can I say. We made some new friends here simply by my roommate asking one of them if she could have the alligator from their fishbowl which led them to oblige as long as we helped them finish their fish bowls.

I'm not really a fan of fish bowls simply because I don't really like sweet drinks- however this one was pretty delish I have to say. I like the vibe in here and the crowd seemed pretty friendly and cool- and the bartender was super attentive and quick. The margaritas were really good as well.

I haven't tried the food here yet and I am looking forward to it.

I've visited Brother Jimmy's a few times throughout the past year and have always ended the meal on a different note. While none of the times were stellar, none had resulted in dry mouth like today's experience. This review is based on today's experience and also rooted in the inconsistencies of previous outings.

+We were seated quickly and allowed to choose our own spots.
+Rib tips delivered a nice start with their char and tenderness (previous time i had it it looked like it was boiled and sauced befored being served).
+Waitstaff--food runners and bus boys, not the server--were attentive.
-Eating the lean brisket sandwich was like eating crackers. Even excessive saucing couldn't salvage this overcooked meat. It was possibly reheated from a previous night.
-My brother's marbled brisket was also dry. Surprising, considering how much fat was on it.
-Apathetic server only came by to check up on us once after we had just received the rib tips and then again after we completely finished our meals.

With so many other bbq spots throughout the city, I won't be taking any more chances with brother jimmy's.

Came here on a Friday night to watch a basketball game. Arrived before 7 and happy hour was still on. $2 for a beer? What a deal. After 7 the place was packed so table reservations are recommended.

Ordered the pulled pork platter with sweet potato fries and slaw. My only complain is that the fries were pretty limp, and the barbecue sauce provided on the side wasn't too appetizing.

Our server was friendly and amazing. That was good enough to make up for the average food.

As an African American, I was highly offended by the drink list which included Plantation Punch. WTF?!?!?! After seeing this I should've walked straight out of the door( always go wit your first instinct!).

Things only went downhill after that.  When I walked in I was asked "bar or dinner". I said I wanted to be seated for dinner, and then the bouncer still had me show my id. No big deal but I said I wanted to be on the "dinner side".  Our waitress came over, she didn't say her name, or maybe she did but all i could hear was the loudness from the bar and the drunk guys next to me yelling at each other. She took our order and next thing I knew, one of the waitresses started taking shots with the drunk guys next to me. Real classy!! After a fifteen minute wait for some damn soda and another 30 minute wait for my food, I was highly disgusted!

Once my food arrived, my waitress was too busy socializing with guests at another table and the drunk waitress returned to take more shots with the guys next to me.  I was officially done with the place once I went to the bathroom, came back and the drunk waitress was sitting on my jacket!! Her shift was over but she decided to get wasted with the douche bags next to me!!  I filled out my comment card and wanted to leave my waitress a tip that said "floss every day" but I decided to be civil.

I went home and called their corporate offices and I was assured that I would receive a phone call or email about the service I received at this location.  I also emailed them a letter and I never heard anything from them!  I don't even remember how the food tasted because I was so disgusted.

Superior management offsets a menu full of great sounding dishes that never make it to the table as advertised. I have been there twice craving BBQ and I feel like if I had been drinking ( great bar ) the food would have been much more palatable.
Having had a broad sampling of the menu over two visits I can say the tastiest thing on the menu was the fried Brussels sprouts and folks when you run a BBQ joint your best dish should not be a vegetable.
The pulled pork is tasty if not a little on the dry side, the ribs I just didnt like they were not very seasoned and I missed that flavor that gets developed from slow and low.
Brisket was tasty well seasoned and juicy.
Country fried steak and po boy's is a recommended pass. Upon bringing up our experience to management  via email we were offered a complimentary dinner. when we went they must have been too busy to care that we were there because of a bad experience and sadly the second go around was no better than the first. But I really appreciated managements efforts, my advice would be to tighten up the execution in the kitchen. They are a great place to hang out and watch a sporting event and if the food were better I would go back.

The service was middle of the road but they were friendly and courteous.

I've been to several of the Brother Jimmy's locations, and have never been disappointed.  It typically attracts a sports crowd, so can be quite loud during televised events.   Food is pretty good and their fish bowls can be dangerous - well worth it!

Only disappointment was when we ordered the bucket of wings, they stuff the bottom with paper towels so that it looks like you're getting more than you actually get.

    Always a good time though....

Ah, to be in college again.  Brother Jimmy's is always raucous and loud- if you're coming for dinner and expect to be able to hear what the person across the table from you is saying, this isn't the place.  The fisbowls (Swamp Water, anyone?) taste alright, although I find they give me more of a headache than a buzz.

Prices are reasonable, and the heavy food will reliably leave you in a coma- the naps that all the girls were taking in Gone with the Wind make a bit more sense now.  That said, it's decent (not amazing) BBQ.  I could see how some people love Brother Jimmy's, but I feel like I've outgrown it.

Table service sucks too, waited forever for our waitress to come and then waited absurdly long for food and beer.  the food was not worth the wait/ price. next time i crave southern food, I'll go across the st to southern hospitality or go uptown into harlem.

There aren't may places that will deliver after 10pm on a Sunday night, but Jimmy's does.

Had the steak and fries cooked medium rare.  I should've realized that beef and fries would arrive cold for delivery.  Oh well.  I couldn't do anything about the fries, but they were surprising to my liking.  I like thinly cut fries with the skin still on and well seasoned with the taste of actual potatoes.  The steak was cooked medium rare and already cut into slices, which made it seemed like a very small piece of steak.  It was fairly bland without much seasoning to it.  The side of BBQ sauce was just odd to my taste.

    It did fill me up.

Pretty middle of the road. Good on some things, less than stellar on others, so....middle of the road. A quick run-through:

    1. It's nice to have a choice of sweet or unsweet iced tea this far north of the Mason-Dixon. Even nicer when they humor me by letting me half sweet, half unsweet. I'm not yankee enough for the one, and too yankee for the other.

    2. They let me sub hushpuppies for the cornbread, and the hushpuppies were pretty decent.

    3. Blackeyed peas: unremarkable.

    4. Collards: pretty damn good.

    5. Carolina pulled pork: listen, I like me some spicy, but is there some reason y'all were shooting for 'OMG, where is the waitress, my mouth is on fire, and I need more iced tea'? Or was this one of those nights where someone accidentally dumped the whole bottle of Tabasco into the meat? 'Cause I've never had pulled pork that full of hot peppers. Warn me next time? I was anticipating smoky-sweet, but was left wondering if I was developing blisters.

    6. Ambience: Way too loud. Verily, I groweth old. And after this evening? Deaf, too, probably.

    7. Service: I sat at the bar, and the bartender was just friendly enough, and very efficient. I felt taken care of, not stalked or ignored.

In a nutshell? I'd consider trying them again for takeout (assuming they deliver), but I'm not interested in further damaging my hearing with overly loud music. I already did the college thing. No need for a repeat.

Looking at the reviews, I wish I had the food here. Ive actually been wanting to go here for a while now but havent had the opportunity or time to. Of course when I do, its not for the food but for more drinks..
This was our second stop of the night. We stopped by for more drinks because 3 hours of open bar definitely wasnt enough. I LOVE the vibe here, good music, really nice people, really strong & yummy drinks.
We got a table pretty quickly even though the place was PACKED and ordered 3 fishbowls (OMG I LOVE FISHBOWLS.....)

The fishbowls came with toy alligators (MINE ! Snatched that up, so cute) and enough straws for like .. 20 people. Okay maybe 10, but I can definitely finish one myself.. HAHA jk, maybe 1/4 of it. Im unsure of the kinds we got but.. one was blue, one was I think swamp water, and something else had pineapples in it. The pineapple one was my fave, swamp water was the strongest, blue one was ehhhhhh Id pass next time.

I'd definitely come back for the drinks (seriously, I love fishbowls..), oh and to try the food!

It had the looks of a good barbeque place: folks at the bar with crumpled napkins surrounding their plates, all the classics on the menu, etc. I asked for the brisket. When it arrived, the waitress informed me that they only had lean brisket this evening. Lean brisket? Why bother to even make that? I don't get it. It tasted like it sounds. Dreadful. The slaw and the baked beans gazed as though they came from "the box". The cornbread had nothing going on - also probably from "the box". And the dinnertime play list was awful.

Not sure how I keep ending up here. I believe it's the hype where all my friends just want to come here and drag be along.

Weekends are jam packed and just plain hard to move around. They often have DJ's, but no one there is talented enough to dance, let along space enough to dance.

The "pitcher" of sangria is really 2 servings watered down with a lot of ice.

Their food is disappointing for a place claiming to be a BBQ joint, unless you mix all 8 of there sauces together to make a Brother Jimmy's Super BBQ Sauce to flavor up the meats.

I would say this place is a hyped out crowded bar with above average bar food rather an actual restaurant, let alone and BBQ joint, that serves alcohol and becomes a frat party at night.

Brother Jimmy sits on the face of classy.

But the BBQ Pulled-Pork sandwich was really good with the Vinegar sauce.  Just juicy Pork between round Buns. Real simple, real tasty... If I recall correctly, the vinegar sauce was a key component of the package. Would my experience have been the same had I been sober? Not sure. That's subjective. But I've tested it on more than a handful of occasions. The other stuff is just OK.

The food was delivered. That's objective. I'm pretty sure that happened.

There's a lot to like about Brother Jimmy's. They only have a few draft beers, but always have bud and bud light pitcher specials. They have a ton of good bottles, and $3 pbr tall boys!

We came on a Friday night for dinner. The bar area looked PACKED around midnight, we sat in the front at a table looking out the window to 2nd ave. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious and enjoyed by all. The food was alright, the pulled pork sandwich was a good helping of pork on a packaged hamburger bun. The beans were nothing special even though the server told me they were really good.

I'm sure there's better places in the area to eat and drink, but Brother Jimmy's has something for everyone.

Thankfully we weren't watching a very popular football game because we got seating for all 5 of without even blinking.

The food was really good overall. I got the pulled pork sandwich, which I thought was just right. My friend who got it thought it was on the small side though. The two who got the catfiish sandwiches loved them, and the rib sampler is a decent amount of meat!

Brother Jimmy's has OK BBQ and some decent specials. The only problem is it's filled with every person I couldn't stand in college. Long Island kids LOVE this place.

What I never understood is why people from Long Island (my friends included) use their money and time to go out in 'the city,' yet they all congregate at the same bars. So they're surrounded by the same people as in Long Island, only you have to take a train to get there and drinks cost more $$. Always struck me as odd.

Anyway, that's enough of my pondering. If you want tasty BBQ go to Fette Sau in Brooklyn. Won't find any B&T there, that's for sure.

It's been years since I been here, but the wife wanted bbq chicken so this was an obvious choice. It's more like a roast chicken w/ the bbq sauces on the table that you choose to douse it in, but I guess it was good cuz she picked the bones clean. As for me, I had the fried chicken which was the four pieces of a half chicken, fried a crunchy golden brown, juicy and flavorful inside, piping hot and topped w/ crispy garlic.  It was very tasty.

I may not go here often, but I know it's a solid place for ribs and now I know it's pretty good for chicken too.
