Date of visit: Sunday March 18th

This is our second time visiting Broom's Bloom. We hardly get over to this part of Harford County, but as luck would have it, my wife and I just happened to be passing by on our way from dropping off her car at Jones Junction and heading to the Casino at Perryville.

So we decided to stop for lunch before going on to the Casino to win (yeah, right...lol) some money!!!

We both decided on getting the "Cowman's Repast" (cup of soup, 1/2 sandwich, & very small ice cream) for about $8 / person.

Sheri ordered the Roasted Red Pepper Bisque (see picture), egg salad on pumpernickel, and Andi's Mint ice cream. Sheri let me taste her soup, MMM that's good soup!!! Her egg salad sandwich was really good too. The pumpernickel is a little too thin, so it breaks easily, would be better toasted.

I had the 50/50 Maryland crab soup with cream of crab soup...OMG!!!...yummy, spicy, creamy, crabby heavenly delight!!! (see picture) This soup screams M A R Y L A N D people!!! Oh, before I forget... I also had the chicken salad on Jewish Rye (meaning caraway seeds). The chicken salad was delish, with lots of big tender chuncks of seasoned roasted white meat with just enough mayo to hold it together. I ordered the chocolate-strawberry ice cream.

    Desert, Oh Yeah!!!

First the very small ice cream is anything but really small (you gotta check my pictures),  Lunch was big, so we didn't want our ice cream on cones, yeah we're strange, so what!

Sheri had the Andi's mint, oh my, that was light and minty, not overwhelmingly so though. Just right for a nice desert, or a refreshing treat anytime of the day, week, month, or year!!! you get da picture!!!

I had the chocolate-strawberry ice cream, oh oh OMG!!! For all you chocolate lovers, this is da orgasimic bomb of bombs!!! Yummy delish chocoloate with a hint of strawberry flavor with real strawberries. One taste and your brain's neurotransmitters will be screaming happy with you and everyone else, as you replentish your seritonin, phenylethylamine, and dopamine. So if you are feeling a little down or want to score with your honey, then I would prescribe a dish of the chocolate-strawberry as your anti-depressent or aphrodisiac.

(brings to mind the song Paradise by Meatloaf, second stanza... "Stop right there! I gotta know right now!.... Do you love me! Will you love me forever!!! Do you need me!! Will you need me forever!!! Will you make me happy for the rest of your life!!!... Will you love me forever!!!"

    Yes, YEs, YES....

    Opps, I think I digressed just a tad....LOL!!!

So if you are in the mood (or looking to get in the mood...lol) for something yummy, then Brooms Bloom Diary is the place...
For some Good Eats (sorry Elton Brown)!!!

Bias, this is our neighbors daughter LOL.  I love this place though.  It is quaint and has acoustic guitar.  Their soup and coffee is wonderful too.  The ice cream is a major treat to the family, and you can't get fresher than this.  The cows are within eye sight :)

Don't let the relatively small number of reviews fool you.  This place was poppin'.  I thought I could swing by to grab a cup and be on my way.  Silly me.  People were lined up, right out the door and into the parking lot.  Granted, it was a mighty hot Saturday... and it was a good time for dessert (8:30ish), but it wasn't too long before their closing hour.

Don't be deterred by a line.  Dairy farm ice cream has this extra oomph.  I knew I wouldn't make it up there all that frequently so I ordered 3 flavors (medium=3 scoops): black raspberry, coconut almond, and graham cracker.

    Here's how it went:
My first thought was that the cup is really big... like "Gotta Have-It" big.  To save myself some shame, I'll tell you from the get-go that this was one of the few times I actually wasn't able to finish.

With my first spoonful of the black raspberry, I looked out over the playing children & vast farmland at the sun setting, and you know what popped in my head? "Heaven, I'm in Heaven, and my heart beats so that I can hardly speak~"  I've already mentioned before that I LOVE ice cream, but even I don't think that's a normal thought to have... which leads me to conclude that in fact, it must be that good.  I've decided that black raspberry is in my top 3 all-time favorite flavors and I'm not quite sure about the other 2.

The coconut almond was next and I think I'd have really liked it if I were a bigger fan of coconut.  Couldn't exactly explain why a not-so-much-fan would order the coconut except that I've fairly recently rediscovered Almond Joys and found them to be amazing in small doses (very different from the conclusion I made when I was younger) + I love the smell of coconut when it doesn't have that suntan lotion tropical fruit scent mixed in with it.  I think I trick myself into thinking I like all kinds of coconut flavor.  At any rate, their coconut is more subtle (less Almond Joy artificiality), with good flakes.

The graham cracker wasn't what I expected, not to say it wasn't good... but to me, it tasted pretty close to a cake batter flavor with graham cracker pieces.  I had my hopes up for something closer to the graham cracker I had at another establishment.  Keep in mind, however, that I had eaten about 2/3s of a "Gotta Have It" size so it wasn't going to have as much appeal as my first flavors.  Couldn't finish.

In conclusion, here's my last "don't."  Don't come alone.  That way, you can share. :) + This place, aside from smelling like fertilizer, really pulls off a sense of invitation.  The place itself is cute as can be, and the girl who took my order was so sweet and helpful.  They had someone performing live acoustic when I went and all-in-all, it made me think "family-friendly."

My fiancé and I had wanted to check this place out for a while but just never got around to it. We decided to finally check it out when we got cravings for ice cream this weekend. The service was friendly & attentive. I decided to get the Maraschino Cherry Chip and he got the Caramel Cashew. The ice cream was rich, creamy & packed full of flavor. The waffle cones were crunchy & wonderful. This place is our new favorite place for ice cream.

We decided to get some local eggs and yogurt while we were there and both have been excellent.

Great ice cream and prices are very reasonable. It can get very busy on the weekends in the summer and the line can get very long. Otherwise it is a great local establishment!

Most people will review a business if they get a complaint.  I'll admit I have been to Broom's Bloom plenty of times - for lunch, for ice cream, for their summer entertainment evenings - and I'm just now getting on to review them.  Why?  Because I'm lazy, not because they are anything less than amazing.

I've had their cream of crab soup - delish.  Quiche - delish.  Various platters - amazing.  Ice cream- to die for.  Service?  Always friendly.

    I love it here.

Today I placed a large to go order over the phone.  I could tell it was hectic for the woman taking my order, hectic for me (phone issues) and I knew they were busy.

The order was ready when promised, and everything was 100% perfect.

I have no qualms about repeating my business to Broom's Bloom Dairy over and over and over again.

I don't really know what to add.  It seems like all reviews cover most of the awesomeness of this place.  I will add that I have been here several times already since I recently moved to the area, and everytime we come here, its just a great experience.  One Sunday, we visited and there was live music.  The sun was out.  The sunflowers were just beautiful.  I got to snap some really nice shots of my son in the sunflower field.  I will say that this is a must stop for families w/children.  There were some other children who had brought some soccer balls with them and my son just joined right in and played with them.  There is a large area where they can play.  Not only is the ice cream and food delicious, but the whole vibe is fantastic.

We went back to the land of the magical cows and that great ice cream. This time we had black raspberry, maraschino chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip and coconut chocolate chip. While they were all good the maraschino chocolate chip was maganificent. It tasted like the chocolate cherry candies from Rheb's only frozen and creamy.

We purchsed for take home - Strawberry chocolate chip and Burgundy cherry. I tasted a spoonful of each and I'm still on cloud 9. I will report back when I return to planet earth.  Note: We went at 7 pm on a Saturday night and it was very busy. So if you don't like standing in lines go earlier if you can.

Mmm... Generous portions of farm fresh ice cream!

This excellent dairy sells their wares at the 32nd St. Farmer's Market in Baltimore, but the trek up to the store on the farm in Bel Air is well worth it.

In addition to ice cream, Broom's Bloom Dairy sells meat products in many forms, cheese, soup and spices.  Almost everything sold is from Harford County.

What an unbelievable place!   Great food and EXCELLENT Ice Cream.   And it's all not just locally produced stuff, but the milk for their dairy stuff is from cows right there on the farm.     Everything there is more or less homemade.

I would say it's a hidden gem in Harford County, but from the time we got there until the time we left the line was out the door for this place; and I am not exaggerating about this.    And I see why.    I had a pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwich that was outstanding, and some great black cherry ice cream.

There is no need for a Baskin Robins or Friendlys near us anymore.   I'll drive back to Broom's to buy ice cream for the house.

Anytime you can see the cows from the store, you know good ice cream is sure to follow.  The selection of flavors always varies (Blueberry Muffin, Butter Brickle, Egg Custard, Cranberry-Walnut just to name a few) and they have music on Sundays, which is nice if you have children (I do) who can run around and work off their inevitable "sugar high" before getting back in the car.

Another good part about this place is that it is relatively cheap. I'm not sure what Elmer was talking about when he said it was expensive...you can get two small cups (which is plenty for a normal adult)  for less than $5.00.  I guess he/she has never been to Coldstone before.

All in all, a great place to relax with the family and have good, quality, farm fresh ice cream.

I always past the farm but never stopped by or thought any more of it.  I googled and found that they serve a lot there, so decided to try it out.  We went this past weekend with some of my out of town family.  Why have I never came here before, I was asking myself.
It was Saturday afternoon and they were pretty busy but kept the line going and even the younger staff was VERY friendly and helpful as well!  We went for ice cream this time but will come back for their lunch as it smelled and looked delicious!
The ice cream was DELICIOUS!  They have a lot of different flavors, which I was told changes daily, their cup sizes all vary as well and the smallest cup was more than enough for myself.  I tried the Orange Cream and it was the best.
The view is incredible outside and plenty of outdoor seating.

After I received 2 raving reviews from my friends in addition the awesome ones from Yelp, I decided to take a little adventure to Broom's Bloom Dairy. After spending the day in Bel Air, I punched in the address of Blooms into my GPS since I am horrid with directions. After driving through winding roads, my GPS told me I was there, but it seemed a bit off. Turns out I ended up on the main farm. I ended up parking next to a farm house and was welcomed by barking dogs. A nice person sitting in a car directed me down a rocky road on the farm to the location of Blooms. And It was sure busy! I came at 2:20pm on a Saturday thinking that there would be less people but this place was packed! I went straight to the refrigerator display cases which held everything from milk, butter, yogurt, cheese, eggs, and beef. The beef is sold prepackaged, which was a bit disappointing. The milk is sold in either plastic or glass bottles, just note that if you buy milk in a glass bottle there is a $2 deposit for the bottle.

After grabbing some milk and cheese I waited in line to pay for the milk and cheese and to order some soup, a quiche and some ice cream (of course). I ordered the chocolate peanut butter ice cream. It wasn't as sweet as I expected but very tasty. I ordered the cream of crab soup and its the best I've had so far. The quiche I have yet to taste. Either way it was all good and the service is great and the people are very nice. I definately would come again~

Love, love, love me some Broom's Bloom. Fresh, local, happy cows make some freakin' amazing cheese and ice cream. I've had lunch here a couple of times, and it doesn't disappoint, either- quiche, egg salad sandwich, and half & half soup: cream of crab and maryland crab soup (might sound a little odd, but I thought it was perfect). There's usually a line in the summer, but it's worth it.

My mom told me about this place.  She loves good ice cream and can tell you where all the best spots are.  This place did not disappoint!   We stopped by here with our 6 year old after dropping her older sister off at camp.  I was hungry so I had a cream of crab soup and a half of a chicken salad sandwich and very small ice cream.  Ohhhhh the soup was amazing and the sandwich was good, too.   Had the vanilla with chocolate covered pretzels and peanuts flavor cone...yummy!  this combo was at the super economical price of $7.35.   Unheard of !  Hubby and daughter were thrilled with their flavors also.  We also picked up some frozen sausage and cheese and meat to take home.  And what I really love -- all the products came from local farms!    Having grown up in rural Harford County this meant alot to me.   It's only a few minutes off the 543 exit of I95 so it's very convienient for passersby.   We will be frequenting this place on our visits home.

This place is highly hyped because it is an actual farm.  It does have a nice atmosphere, and you are contributing to the local economy by using it, but it's not what it is said to be.  I bought ice cream on my first visit.  For the price, I expected better than Breyers, but it was good--not better.  Next I bought cheese, a sandwich, and soup.  The sandwich was fine, the cheese is not up to the standards or good grocery brands (too hard and dry), yet it's as expensive as the most expensive brands.  The soup was good, chicken noodle, but for close to $7, I expected homemade noodles.  Instead, I got soup that is pre-prepared, probably by a restaurant supplier.  It was good, but the price put it over the top.
I'm not impressed.  They do have local foods like honey, eggs, breads, but I've gotta say that Eggland's Best (about the same price) are better tasting and just as pure, and I won't pay that much for honey.  One last thing, don't go there if you're in a hurry.  It's a "farm" atmosphere and moves slowly.  But, if you want to drive out of town and pretend to be "ala natural", go and visit.  It's not bad, just costly.

Without a doubt the best ice cream I've had in the DC/Baltimore area.  The texture of the ice cream is unusually different - and what's really impressive is the quality/freshness of the flavors added.  I'd recommend anything that has fruit in it - it's probably all picked locally and amazingly fresh tasting.

I surely didn't have the same experience that others seemed to have. Maybe it's just the luck of the draw but when I visited there were only a hand full of flavors and the portions were very small. The quality was only average. I never would have guessed that I was eating homemade ice cream. It is nice to support local farms and the atmosphere is nice but I don't think I will be going back. When I drive past there are a lot of vehicles on the lot so maybe anyplace can have a miserable day.
