A fantastic, low key wine bar in Park Slope. Perfect for dates and catching up with friends!
Not only do they have wine by the glass but also wines in draft! Now that I need in my kitchen! If you're not in the mood for wine, they do serve beer and even Doc Drafts cider. But seriously, come for the wine.
My friend and I munched on their prosciutto that came with bread and a mint aioli, as well as a bowl of olives and their mac & cheese with bacon. All were yummy in my belly! I love tapas style menus and Brookvin excels at doing so.
Brookvin baby, get used to my face because you'll be seeing it often! -

Came here on a random Saturday night. What can I say? Great service, adorable (and HEATED) garden area, a nice wine list and yummy bites. The food isn't amazing and the wine list isn't world class but the atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious. Nice place to just chill.
P.S. A reviewer below noted that this is a great place to meet single girls - I wholeheartedly agree. -

A favorite spot in the 'hood. Not really a dinner spot - but lots of nibbles. I thought the pours were pretty generous.
Really nice cheese selection, too. -

I'm not quite sure I understand why other reviewers are giving this place 5 stars. Yes, the wine selection is nice but $10 and up for a glass that is half full? Really? I was told that the bartender fills the glass to its widest point which makes it approximately 6 ounces. Why I ask? So that one can swirl it around the glass, sniff it and it also allows the wine to breathe. Again I say Really?! I'm sorry but I didn't notice anyone at the packed bar doing that. LOL
If you like your wine like my friends and I do, I suggest you go for Happy Hour only. Otherwise be prepared for a very steep check at the end of the night! Happy Hour is all night on Monday's and other nights 5-7pm. As far as the food selection... which is also pricey considering the amount or I should saw lack of amount of food you get, I would stick with Happy Hour again, where the tartines are half price. If you're a vegetarian, you've got a very small selection and forget about the salads... not much there at all. This is definitely not a place to go if you're hungry or for dinner.
Overall thoughts... great place for Happy Hour, nice atmosphere, Jen the bartender is wonderful, but the manager can be a bit snotty and rude (I don't know why?). It's totally convenient to my apartment (one of the main reasons I go there) and to socialize with friends at the bar after a long work day makes it worth it... I guess. LOL
P.S. I was told that the guys who own Big Nose Full Body also own Brookvin but if you like a certain wine at Brookvin don't think you can purchase a bottle at Big Nose. One reviewer saw a pregnant woman with a young child. At my last visit there were a couple of young children in there with their parents. I agree, this isn't the type of place to bring kids. Parents, go to Johnny Mack's, which is right around the corner. You can drink and the kids can play pool or pinball machines. A much better environment for kids... that is, if you feel the need to take them to a bar. :) -

I have been to Brookvin a number of times and enjoy reconnecting with friends over a delicious drink. I know it's a place where I can go to and have a drink and socialize with my peers. I'm just hoping this social norm is not changing based off of my recent trip to Brookvin. I found it disturbing that a pregnant woman and her family and 3 year old child sat at the table next to me and enjoyed wine. This does not make me want to return to this bar because children do not have a place in this setting.
Unless the owner is planning on making Brookvin a Chuck E. Cheese, ditch the children and stick to adults. -

Oh goodness. OH goodness. I keep going back when I shouldn't, because I always walk out more tipsy than I want to be. But with such good wine, and such interesting variety, I often have drunk 3 glasses before I realize I should stop.
The food is pretty intriguing as well. There are some hits (tartines are a joy to taste) and some misses (recent creme brulee choices weren't all that), but I can't take a single point off because it is always creative, interesting, and something I can't find elsewhere... for a LOT less $$ than this kind of stuff usually costs. And with about the same success rate. (I'm looking at you, Jean-Georges.)
Finally, the folks behind the bar always seem to be some of the most calming presences ever, and in the summer the garden is a delight. -

I live in Astoria but heard enough good things about Brookvin that my date and I decided to trek out to Brooklyn for some Friday night drinks. Fortunately, we were not disappointed.
We shared a bottle of chauvignon blanc and enjoyed the low lighting, the rhythm of the conversations that surrounded us, and the anticipation of a good time.
Our waiter was friendly and answered our questions concerning the menu.
I love having dinner in park Slope and it's good to know I can drop by Brookvin for a great drink. -

For an impromptu date night with the wife, we hit up Brookvin before heading to Fonda for dinner. We sat at the bar and had a great time. The bar tender was very nice and knowledgeable about his wines. (The honey roasted pecans were great, too.) We didn't eat any of their "plates" but that's a nice option.
Otherwise, it looks like a nice place to sit and enjoy a couple glasses of wine with a loved one or friends. -

I had an arugula salad, which was somewhat lacking in dressing, and my friends both had crabcake sandwiches. The mesculun mix next to the crab cakes looked a little tired, but it was during a hurricane, so that can be forgiven. The waiter brought me some toast points to go with my salad, which was thoughtful. I was somewhat dissapointed by the consistancy of burnt lemon ice cream, which I had been looking forward to. The flavor was good but it was too icy.
The wine list is good, and I enjoyed 2 different whites - they have interesting and different choices.
The menu online has not been updated recently - don't have your heart set on something before you go. -
Review from Jackie N.
We enjoyed drinks with a few friends here on a Sunday evening. The selection was great, and the ambiance was mellow. The space itself is small, but aesthetically pleasing and clean.
Mind you it was a Sunday night when all the PS rascals where in bed - not in strollers on the sidewalk - so it was uber awesome ;) -

And...we're back.
After a harrowing journey to Times Square, my 4 pals and I were in search of one last stop, a few drinks to block out the oddities, neon lights, chaos, etc.
A quick trip back to the homeland landed us at Brookvin. As a former "know-it-all" in Chicago when it came to "where to eat/drink/play" I will admit I'm still figuring it all out in NYC, and may be forever really.
But, one thing I did know: I REALLY liked Brookvin on the first visit and it was surely worth a try. We rolled in around 11pm, saddled up with a few bottles of whites and pinks at very affordable prices, snagged the last bit of seating room, and drank our little hearts out until last call.
Oh wait, there was no last call!? Nope, just some friendly bartenders patiently waiting for us to exit. No rushing or cajoling to take our party elsewhere...so of course we decided on our own accord that they'd like to go home, so we sipped the last bits of wine, shared the last tings of gossip and made our way back to the crashpad.
Affordable, absolutely friendly, warm and inviting. Made me look smart, most of all!

Five girls, deprived of their nectar, running on fumes...what are they to do?
Brookvin to the rescue. Well, really, it's a certain newbie Brooklyn resident that was the heroine, but that really doesn't matter.
We were thirsty, Brookvin was accommodating, who are we to not go. A fabulous assortment of bottles presented itself to us (at totally reasonable prices...$22 for a bottle of a lovely chilled rose? Sign us up...and again...and again), how could we even choose only a glass.
We cozied into a perfect little area, lights aglow. Service was undeniably perfect. Our server not only attended to our needs very well, but also made some solid suggestions, and didn't balk when we ordered that third bottle shortly before they closed.
I have no comments on the food, other than we all eyeballed what turned out to be an employee's sandwich hanging out at the kitchen area. I'd go back for some food, definitely.
You know what? When we parted ways with Brookvin, we weren't so thirsty anymore. How funny.Listed in: Sorry Chicago...

Review from Bret H.
The ham sandwich here is unbelievable. The best I have ever had.
It's a country ham, the dry, chewy kind that you normally get as a steak, and eat with a knife and fork. Only they've sliced it very thin, so you get the heft and texture, yet it seems to melt in your mouth at the same time. It comes on perfectly toasted sourdough, with a sweet (excellent counterpoint) mustard dip. I am not kidding, when I finished it, I ordered another one, even though I wasn't hungry, because I was worried that if I left the restaurant, something terrible might happen like me being hit by a car without ever having gotten another one of these sandwiches.
There was other stuff about the restaurant, service, prices, decor. I forget how all of that was. Please listen to me: go to Brookvin and eat the ham sandwich, so that they never rotate it off the menu. -

Perfect date spot. Every time I've been here, everything has been great. Okay, I'm rarely blown away by any one thing in particular, but with some very good cocktails, an extensive yet considered wine list and genuinely warm and friendly staff who love what they're doing, what's left to be desired really? The food is good too, perfectly portioned for drinking fodder and reasonable enough price wise (esp happy hour). The vibe of the place seems to be carried by the owner (I'm assuming), very knowledgeable and an absolute gentleman. Why can't more places in Park Slope aspire to this level of service?

Park Slope's official first date spot. Your date might be awesome or terrible but you can be damn sure you'll have an excellent selection of wines, cozy ambiance and some tasty plates of charcuterie and cheeses to go with your fun night.
Being an entry-level wine drinker (craft beer is my domain) I like this place because the menu is pretty simple and most of the wines come with a brief description. If you aren't sure what you want just tell the bartender or server what you feel like tasting and they'll hook you up.
Two must haves:
- The mac and cheese
- Prosciutto (it's like meaty butter)
It gets pretty busy so there might be a wait but I've never seen the place really packed and service has been great the couple times I've been.
The first time I came here must have been dinner theatre night because I watched one of the chefs have a complete blowup in the small kitchen, storm out of said kitchen with a knife and his coat and go on a small tirade about the restaurant before walking out the door. I think the staff handled it really well and maybe dude was just having a bad night. A really, really bad night.Listed in: Park Slope Date Night

Great service, fantastic happy hour, tasty food, and a really interesting wine list. I'm here more often than I care to admit. Brookvin is the perfect place to catch up with friends or take a date you actually want to be able to talk to. No matter how crowded it is, I always seem to be able to find a seat.

Went here for the first time last night just for drinks and to catch up with old friends.
The staff was super friendly and cool, especially since we were taking up a garden table and just for one round of drinks. They have an extensive selection of wines by the glass and some cocktails and 4 beer selections.
We didn't try any food, but all the options sounded pretty tasty. We'll be returning to try the food and more wine real soon.Listed in: The New Hood List

Loved this place! We came for wine and dessert after having dinner at an Italian place nearby. The staff is really friendly and had great recommendations for wines. I had a delicious dessert wine from Argentina that was not too sweet, but really delicious. I will have to pick up a bottle soon! The chocolate peanut butter cake was amazing!
There's an outdoor seating area with heat lamps for when it's cold. Beautiful design inside and out! -

Simple menu, good wines, good lighting, good athmposhere. Can not ask for more.....well actually.....
one of my all time favourite wines is La Spinetta. Historical winery in northen italy (piemonte), that makes amazing Barolo, Barbera and Barbarersco. Happens to be one of the most prized winery in italy for excellent wines (1). Our choice for the night had to be a half bottle, so we find, La Spinetta, Barbera Ca del Bosco at the reasonable price of $26. This makes me happy. Very happy.
The menu is simple, a few salads, couple of sandwiches and selections of cuts and cheeses. You should not expect more from a wine bar.
I do need to note the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Salad was made from pea shoots and fresh peas. It tasted as it freshly picked or purchased at the local farmes market the same morning.
The ham sandwich is also worth mentioning. Good bread, good ham good cheese...and decadently buttery.
Note to the restaurant: if would be good to have a mix plate of cheese and/or hams rather than single servings.
Notes:
(1) - Gambero Rosso is the most authoritative and comprehensive guide to italian wines. It rates excellent wines worth of a mention with 1, 2 or 3 goblets. La Spinetta (second only to Gaia) is the winery that has accumulated the most 3 goblets. -

The wine was good, though a little overpriced. The bartender served well but was very tight-lipped and looked like he didn't know how to smile. I tried to chat him up once or twice just to be friendly to no avail. Oh well, the service is what counts. The mac and cheese was great.
Not a bad spot for wine in Park Slope. -

Great services, good food, and great selections of wine! My partner had a glass of red and she said that the wine tasted like it was opened before today. So she did not like her wine much. I had a glass of white, Vevi, very delicious. No dessert for tonight, we ordered total of 7 dishes between the two of us and it did not break our bank accounts, superb. We will definitely come back.

Cute place to go with a couple of friends in the mood for wine and cheese. They have a huge selection of wines as well as cheese and meat plates. I don't even remember which wines we got. I tried some blue cheese plate that was delicious and served with strawberry preserves. Cute atmosphere. Laid back and dim. Good for a Friday night.

Good cheese, great wine. The tartines and sandwiches were pretty gross. We went there with a big party for a smaller place and they were very accommodating and nice. We split every meat and cheese on the menu, and all were delicious. Service was average, atmosphere was awesome. I liked the way the cheeses were served with toasts and preserves with the cheese, it added something extra.

Brooklyn, NY
Cute, cozy and has a pretty decent wine selection. I wasn't crazy about the food selection, the mac and cheese I tried was ... meh. The backyard is adorable, so I'd suggest checking it out when the weather is warm.
When indoors, it's definitely cozy and the seating is great for sitting close and let's just say, it's a great date spot.
It's on the pricier side, so don't expect to get too wasted without a pretty penny to shell out.
Bathrooms are clean, spacious and yes there are two! I hate when places only have one but I digress.
Overall, I really like this joint! -

Brookvin is awesome. The wine list is comprehensive, the olives and the cheeses are fantastic. I also like the wine pairings and the fact that they have wine classes. I haven't tried any of their food, but methinks that the name of the establishment suggests it's all about wine, so I wouldn't expect anything more or anything less. Very mellow and classy Brooklyn joint, a neighborhood gem.

Went here with my heterosexual lifemate. We split a Spanish grenache I'd never heard of on the waiter's recommendation and weren't disappointed. Back garden is lovely; closes at midnight so as not to annoy the neighbors.
Foodwise, we just had dessert, and the chocolate torte w/ peanut butter ice cream probably added 5 pounds. Totally worth it. -

I really enjoyed my night at Brookvin. I came here with three girlfriends for a drink and some food.
We had several rounds of drinks throughout the night and the server was quick and always ready to bring the next round. We started with the three tartines. They were great, I really like the one with the onion jam. We then each had a beet salad, it was very good but it was a little different that what I would have expected for a beet salad, especially with the amount of ricotta cheese there was. We also then shared a mac and cheese which was part good, part meh, part i'll eat anything right now.
Overall, I would recommend and go back there. If you want a full dinner I would probably go somewhere else. This is great for small plates and great drinks. -

I'd like to share a bit about my experience with Bartender Awesome.
But firstly -- I can think of maaaaaybe two reviews I've written right after said experience at said establishment. But there's always a reason for it, and it's always because MY FAITH IN HUMANITY IS RENEWED.
This is one of those reviews.
Jesus AWESOME Christ. Thank you, bartender, for being maybe the nicest human being on the planet, not looking at me strangely when I requested "something red, but not so acid-y, maybe?" and accommodating myself and my friend with absolute knowledgeableness (yeah that's right! I just made up a word that I thought was better than the somewhat pedestrian "knowledgeable") and total friendliness. Even after I apologized for my shitty choice of adjectives, Bartender Awesome was totally not deterred and offered us both tastes of what he'd thought we'd like. And he was right, for crying out loud! (If you think that's easy, you haven't met me when I get to the inevitable point in the evening when I start whining for a Guinness.)
As for the food: The Brooklyn ricotta tartine with escarole and garlic confit was -- for lack of a better term at the current moment -- absolutely badass. Bartender wasn't lying when he said a) it was perfect for autumn and b) if would go perfectly with my red wine. Why do you have to be right all the time, Bartender Awesome?
Please, please go visit Brookvin and Bartender Awesome.Listed in: South Slope favs: The List*

Pros: Great wine selection, bartenders were very thoughtful, music was not blaring. In this area of the city I think this is one of the better choices.
Cons: I am spoiled by other wine bars in the city that are warmer and cozier.
Also, the prices seemed a bit over the top for the value of the wine. -

My friends took me here for a very belated bday dinner:-)
It wasn't the original plan, but we were all so happy we ended up here instead. The food is absolutely fresh, the desserts and drinks were fantastic, and the staff and location are great.
We say in the back area and it was the perfect summer day. Not crowded and good vibe. -

Brooklyn, NY
Excellent wines without the snobbery you'd get at hoity-toity places.
I was impressed by the extensive selection and after randomly trying several reds it was a pleasure to discover each had a really distinct flavor - no muddling table wines here.
The Rousillon is nothing short of amazing, but even the ones that weren't exactly my thing, like the Madiran, had enough personality that made it worth tasting. Like they say, personality goes a long way.
They have a nice outdoor area with heat lamps (towards which they were very attentive), generous with the plantings and the candlelight. 'Brambly' should be a cheesy adjective to describe a wine, not indicative of patios.
Staffed by friendly-awkward hipsterish types. Not a judgement just a statement.
A little out of my way & a tad too expensive for me to be a regular, but a real find just the same.
