I love Dr Bob. He is the best. I have been wearing glasses since I was 8, so I have been to my fair share of optometrists. I never felt rushed and Dr. Bob makes you feel like you have known him for years. They have a great selection of eyeglasses to chose from and the technicians are very helpful. I hope Dr. Bob never retires because then I will be lost. If you are looking for the best then I highly recommend.

I'm shocked that there are no reviews about Dr. Demshar!! He is faaaantastic! I've been going to him for almost 10 years. I've also seen Dr. Vanover, and he is faaantastic too. Dr. Demshar makes you feel very comfortable, and he always has really nice glasses on! haha! I can't help but check out what kind of frames he's wearing each time I go in. LOL! And all the girls that work there, from the front desk, to the "payment" desk are all very friendly. Even when I am looking for frames, every technician that has ever helped me has always been real patient & helpful. I can easily try on 30+ frames in one visit.. and they have NO problem with that. They even get up to get me more & make suggestions based on my feedback. I never feel rushed & never feel pressured to settle on frames I'm not 100% happy with.
I highly recommend Dr. Demshar. He's a great optometrist. I've even read in the Brookside newsletter a while back that every year he makes several trips to underdeveloped countries to give free eye care. Great optometrist plus Good Samaritan = A+++++ -

Today was my very first visit to Brookside Optometric and WOW! I saw Dr. Rosemary Melrose and she was fantastic! She was so professional but at the same time made me feel comfortable-like I had known her for years. She gave me a lot of valuable information and was very thorough with my exam. She is just wonderful!
I was also very impressed with the woman that helped me pick out my glasses. I usually take someone with me to choose glasses so I can get a sencond opinion, so I was really nervous about choosing glasses by myself today. Fortunately I received wonderful assistance from one of the employees there. She was so helpful picking out what glasses looked best for my face and I didn't once feel rushed. She made sure I was completely happy and satisfied with my choices before I left the office. I am so happy I found this office! -

I'm always switching insurance groups for some reason and they've ALWAYS accepted each one. So the chances of getting your particular insurance approved is pretty high.
Dr. Skinner is this pretty chill white guy. Reallllyyyy nice. He always tries to make small talk to cover the awkwardness. I'm always asking how much money he makes to see if he'll ever tell me, LOL. Good guy, good doctor.
Dr.Chan is this petite asian lady. Super motherly-like. It's cute though. I visited her like 5 times in 1 month and I always left my contacts at home. Scolded me every time, lol! She was pretty sweet. She's very understanding about people's economic situations so she'll do what she can to help you. Good woman, good doctor.
The building is nice, professional vibe. They have an inside glasses shop, bought my fendi's there. I recommend this place to all my friends and family members! -

I will give it a 5 star if it's just the Doctors.
We just moved here in Stockton and I was looking for a good Optometrist. My son wears glasses since he was in 3rd grade (5yrs now). I am very careful on choosing doctors for my son, I researched for a long time before I even try to make appointments.
Our visit here went from very good to annoying bad!
We made appointment and saw Dr Kathy Tran - she is FANTASTIC! Very smart, knowledgeable, great work with my son, she explained what she's doing making sure my son is comfortable, she took time in answering our questions and very sweet. And they have a state of the art equipment.
To be clear.... Dr. Kathy Tran is 5 Star!!
After she examined my son's eyes she turned us in to one of their staff/technician to choose my son's frame.... NOW the experience is turning to annoying bad... first of all, she was not good on making suggestions, I've been to a lot (we've got 9 glasses in last 5yrs) of optometry where techs are very good on looking at your facial shape and they know what size and shape will look good on you.
This asian lady in Brookside just keep giving my son whatever she can grab that she thinks same shape that my son was looking for.
She RUSHED me on choosing my son's glasses, every time I handed one to my son she make gestures, she did not make any conversations with us what so ever!
When my son picked one (but I thought was too big to his face), she keeps saying to me... "he likes this" and when I tried to looked for another one she went to my son and say... "you like this, right?".
She even started writing on her form and worked on mys son's frame when she knew I was still looking. I really felt RUSHED.
When she was working on the prices, she wasn't explaining what she was doing/writing and did not even gave us choices.... My son had to asked for the transition lenses (good thing this is my son's 7th glasses so he knew!), I asked for poly lenses.
I will come back to see Dr. Tran but I will make sure that lady does not help me choosing my frame. If they will give her to help me again... I will never come back!
If I'm the one paying and wearing the glasses, it better be on my own liking and I want to make sure it's what I like... not settle for something because THAT technician is in a hurry!! -

I disagree with the prior review citing that the technicians rush you. In fact, my whole experience seems rather laid back.
I've been going to Dr. Hisaka since I was a little kid and can vouch that he DOES take you in for a session to talk to you about your life since the last appointment. He makes you feel really comfortable during a potentially awkward eye exam.
In eBay review terms: A++++++++ great service, excellent communication -

I have had my share of mishaps here... but they have made them right in the LONG run.
Brookside has a great selection of frames to choose from, all name brands. I take forever to find my frames... like over an hour, every time, and I have never felt rushed in the least bit. I love that.
The doctors use state of the art equipment. They are able to check the pressure of your eye without using the puff of air in your eye. I personally cannot do the puff of air... the anticipation of it messes me up, so this alone is a good reason for me to keep coming here.
The wait time is low, especially considering they are always busy. -

Dr. Vanover is THE BEST!
Always helpful and he writes very detailed notes, because he's great at catching up with me from previous visits. Also, since I'm part of the large group of Americans who are uninsured, he knows how to hook it up and make things a bit more affordable. Such a saint, he is!
Overall, this place is fast and friendly. Making an appointment, walking-in, all have been great experiences since coming here during my wee days of high school.
I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. *Tear -

Good selection of glasses and the ones I picked were in before they were supposed to be in. I was told 2 weeks but a week and a day later they came in. Thanks!
Techs that work there are very helpful and cute. Except for one,
I didnt like the glasses she suggested for me, they looked like Napoleon Dynamite's! -

Dr. Hisaka and Dr. Fuji are the best optometrists I have ever had! They get to know you on a personal level so they're not just your dr's, they are your friends! The office is very nice and the staff are extremely friendly!!!

Dr. Bob Melrose is the best. Never EVER felt rushed by the staff. All are very pleasant and helpful. Never had my eyes checked until I was OLD. Brookside is the first and probably the last place I will take my eyes to, and I travel a fair distance to get there. Highly recommend Dr. Bob and the rest of the staff at Brookside.

My family and I were introduced to this place by a family friend. I like how when we sign in for our appointment, we don't have to wait to long to see our optometrist. They have a good selection of glasses like RayBans, Coach, Juicy, and other name brand names). I take forever to pick out my glasses cause they have so many glasses to choose from (I prefer RayBans) .The optometrists and staff are really friendly which makes going to see the eye doctor not as scary.

I've been a patient of Dr. Rosemary Melrose for several years. I could not be happier with her. She goes above and beyond for her patients. She is always very friendly, thorough, listens carefully, and detail-oriented. I would highly recommend going to her if you're looking for an optometrist.
