Brooklyn, NY
Absolutely loved, went for 20 dollar bottle Wednesday, with purchase of 2 menu items. Atmosphere was great very casual.Staff was helpful in making choices in both wine and food. Food was excellent, loved the spicy eggplant spread! Can not wait to go back.
They have tours of the winery and classes about different types of wine. Which I think is a must. -

Oakland Gardens, NY
Was super psyched to try Brooklyn Winery last night, but I think we must have caught the place on an off night...
It was Monday mystery flight night, which was super fun and a great way to experience and learn about their wines (after I was charged double the price and had to check the website on my iphone to make sure $20 wasn't actually the cost of the flight..) The red flight was challenging and fun, included a Cab, a Lagrein, and a Primitivo.
When my friends got there they ordered wine and food. One odd thing was the bartender kept asking if we wanted to start a tab or pay cash, which felt odd when we were sitting at the bar eating and drinking, not at a dive bar doing shots.
I was with two others; one of our party ordered her food a few minutes before the other two of us, she got a salad followed by salmon, which then both came out at the same time. And by the time our food came out she had finished both dishes...
My other friend ordered a fig bruschetta and a duck confit flatbread, and I ordered the vegetarian flatbread, which I figured would be quick since I had to jet. The food took FOREVER; I'm talking 45 minutes for flat bread and bruschetta, and they weren't slammed; the place was pretty slow. And everything came out together, so my friend had a full plate of fig bruschetta and a flatbread of duck confit in front of her. By the time the my flatbread was ready I had to go, so I asked to get it boxed and the bartender said they had to go find boxes downstairs. Then they said they would just wrap the whole thing in foil, at which point I had to say no, I'm ok with taking leftovers in foil, but wrapping the whole thing? So I had to cancel it, and the whole exchange was just awkward. At one point a piece of glass just cracked off my wine glass; we joked my friend had done it with her mind. Something odd was in the air. There was never an apology for the wait time, or the disjointed way everything came out... the kitchen is open, and the chef didn't seem to be in any rush... I know Williamsburg likes to take its time, but...
I really enjoyed the wine, the decor was nice, and the bartender was friendly, but something just felt a little out of sync on my first visit to Brooklyn Winery. I'm sure I'll try again, maybe not on a Monday funday. -

Stopped here for a glass of wine and some snacks with my husband. It was a Thursday night - flight night - and I chose the French flight. I tasted four wines (nice size tastings) and then was able to choose a glass of my favorite. We had a selection of different types of meat and cheese - all delicious - a serrano ham flatbread dish, and, my favorite, a smoked salmon with greek yogurt. We sat at the bar and Linda took care of us. She was both friendly and knowledgeable.
Beautiful space - warm and inviting. Loved the decor. Will definitely be back again! -

Not too often I venture into Bklyn. Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday, had a great experience. We were able to taste some wines before buying the bottle. Between the six of us, we had about 9 bottles of wine plus several appetizers and cheese plates. The atmosphere is great, we were pretty damn loud and not to mention raunchy at times and no one seemed to mind. Service was great too. We will definately be back but prob midweek when they have their $20 bottle special as their wines were a little pricey.

Absolutely loved on a late afternoon Sunday visit. Birthday girl knows the proprietor who gave us a fantastic tour of the facilities and magic behind the scene. We had the enclave elevated above the main gallery space for our gathering which was vintage-decorated and speak-easy inspired a la restoration hardware. Loved the wines (reisling from the Finger Lakes was spectacular) and the menu was delicious - I'm already planning my next trip and spreading the word, though perhaps I shouldn't ... they've become a popular wedding venue and close out the whole place when there are nuptials!

SORRY! Unfortunately I can't take back my 2 star rating from the past, but I really wish I could (I really could but I don't believe in that kind of stuff...sorry BK Winery). I had a bad experience because of the way the Winery was set-up within the first few weeks of opening. Since? Perfection.
I have been back to Brooklyn Winery a few times since and each time is a delightful and romantic experience. My girlfriend typically will sit at the bar enjoying either a single glass of wine each or if it's on the weekend, enjoying a bottle between us. The atmosphere has changed significantly since the beginning with the winery being much more relaxed and low-key, unlike the loud crowd I saw.
On one occasion when some my girlfriends family came from Florida, Brooklyn Winery was the first place we took them to fully understand what is happening in Williamsburg. We thoroughly enjoyed the cheese plate and a few bottles of wine. They were impressed and left wanting a place like this where they live.
If you are to make a trip to Williamsburg, try your hardest to make it to Brooklyn Winery. Grab a couple of glasses and walk around, maybe even being lucky enough to get a short tour of the back where the 'magic' happens.Listed in: Williamsburg Top Notch

Bartender Robin introduced my boyfriend and me to a white wine that "drinks like a red" and drinks like a red it does. Was bloody awesome (know that I reserve such an adjective for the aurora borealis). Until now I've not gotten hyped about white wines but now we're searching for a bottle or three. The service was fantabulous by both bartenders tending bar. We're definitely going back for some of their events (especially if they host a jazz group) and food.
Thank you Robin for great service and an intro to a great-tasting white wine. -

Brooklyn Winery is AOK in my book for many reasons.
1) The atmosphere is chill, dark, and homey
2) My fiancé and myself had the honor of marrying our best friends here in October
3) The food and bar scene is top notch
4) Every single staff member is well educated in the wine, booze, and food that they have to offer
5) This spot is unpretentious and lovely for the area and I LOVE THAT
I am so glad that Brooklyn Winery is with us. We need more places and people that celebrate wine and food and togetherness!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! -

Do you like wine? Any kind of wine?? COME HERE! The ambiance here is fantastic. The menu has a bit of a scavenger hunt with hints to find things throughout the place. It's a bit of a game that is fun to play with whoever you are there with. The staff is incredibly friendly and very informative of the wines available on the menu. They also have wine classes. Who doesn't enjoy learning about wine while trying it?? (if you raised your hand, move along to the next review please, because you just suck). They also have live music here...check the web site for more info on this. For food, the trio of pate is...mmmm....delicious!!!!
Great place to come with a group of friends, or a date, or whoever! Come alone. Just come!Listed in: Where the Wine-o's Go

Live music, delicious beer, right off the L in Brooklyn. What is not to love about this place?!
It has a very fun environment that caters to wine drinking as well as beer. I have not done anything related to the wine tours/classes/tastings yet, but I am already in love with this bar. -
Review from Sandra F.
This place just celebrated its one year anniversary. Fun that they make their own wine (even if the grapes come from elsewhere). Campy, comfy atmosphere - great for private events.
Menu is limited - tapas and small plates of meat and cheese. -

Wish I could give them more stars - great ambiance, great wine and great food!
Now I"m not a big wine drinker, but came here for a friend's birthday. They make their own wine right on sight and if you get there early enough, you can get a tour. They have wine on tap (which I thought was pretty cool), and have a very wide variety of wines.
Now the food.....holy crap the food was delicious! We had the pear salad with goat cheese, pecans, pears and bacon...so good!!! We also had the crustini (again sooo good, feta cheese on a tomato paste on a crunchy bread) and the meatballs. now the meatballs weren't my favorite but still good.
If you want to go unwind after a day of work, this is the place to go. They even had live music on Friday and I think Saturday nights as well. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. If you're in the Williamsburg area, this place is a must!!! -

This is the place you go with a friend, have a glass of wine, eat some cheese, maybe split creme brulee and talk about the day. (The kitchen doesn't open until 6pm and since all is made fresh that day, some items may not be ready exactly at 6pm)
I love the bar and tables, a worn in but extremely new kinda look. The bar chairs reminded of these old school chairs from Shop class in 7th grade.
Only bummer is the outside patio was closed for construction, once it opens check it out. -

I'm probably biased because of the beautiful company I was with both times, but I love this place. The ambience is beautiful and the wines are very tasty. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I predict many great memories are just waiting to happen there. :)

I came here a few weeks ago for their anniversary party, and I was really impressed with the place. Great selection of wines, decent prices, and a really good "vibe". I love the large, communal tables, and I also liked that there was enough standing space that you didn't feel too cramped at the bar. It's nicely located right off of the L, so it's an easy trip from Manhattan.
I will definitely be returning! -

It's a bar in a winery, need I say more. I went for their anniversary party. There's bar and bench table seating. Not too loud, and decent lighting. Decent selection of beer as well.
I recommend the veggie chips, and the Bruno. -

New York, NY
I am already looking forward to coming here when the weather cools off. It doesn't look like much from the outside. Once you walk in though, you immediately forget the rows of all the drab 3 & 4 story buildings you passed on the way. Why? The entire bar from floor to ceiling and most of the furniture are made of a nice, sturdy looking wood. On the street level, you'll find a fair sized beer hall complete with a bar showcasing bottle upon bottle of wine (including their very own) and two rows of tables capable of accomodating your 8 closest friends.
There's more though. Like? A patio area I didn't explore because the weather was too warm for me. The upper level is broken up into what I thought of as a dining area and two smaller rooms. The dining area has a long table, a photo booth and a heavy, sliding door if you want to fully sever yourself from society's tight constraints. In the next space, you find yourself sitting on a pretty hard but somehow comfortable bench. It's ok though, since the lighting is dim and adds to the wine in your system resulting in your increasing relaxation. Past this space, you're in what feels like a living room circa 1940 except for the huge window facing the street. Somehow, this makes the passersby all seem like peeping toms (if you're into that). This room has a great, leather couch that makes you wish you'd brought a blanket and a pillow. Perfect for catching a few zzzzs.
I'm not really well versed in the world of wine. We shared a couple of bottles of Yering Station which we both enjoyed (google it, sorry). I would recommend this place as perfect to getting to know someone over quiet conversation while good tunes (YYYs, Death Cab, Joy Division, Interpol) play in the background. Thanks for bringing me, babe.Listed in: DISCLAIMER: I love dive bars.

Great ambience, and the owners are extremely welcoming. The food and wine menu is above average, with most bottles between $30-$50.
Individual glasses are not cheap, $10 for just about everything.

Brooklyn, NY
I've been back here a few times with my girlfriend because the food choices are so delicious. We'll probably try everything on the seasonal menu.
For our last visit we went on Wednesday $20 bottle night ($20 bottle of wine with 2 entrees)
Scallops
Seared scallops with beets, orange braised fennel, and leek
Lamb Shank Tagine
Lamb shank slow cooked with Moroccan spices, root vegetables, toasted cashews,
dried apricots, figs, and currants, served on a bed of herb couscous
If these SOUND delicious it's because they ARE! The wine pairing as per our waiter was also right on the money. -
Review from Jackie K.
We came because we're fans of The Walking Dead (there was a viewing of the premier episode happening upstairs). We left fans of Brooklyn Winery.
Everyone was super nice and helpful and made great suggestions when we asked.
We had the pate trio with pickle pairings (yummy pickled orange peel!), and I had a glass of the Tempranillo blend which was a-maze-balls. And then another glass which I can't remember what I selected (there was only 1 on the list that the server thought could "stand up" to the Tempranillo, so if you go, it's "that one"), but it was also dee-lish though the Temp still reigned supreme.
The owner talked with us after TWD finished airing and was just genuinely psyched that as many people showed up for the viewing and had plans to make it a weekly event. -

Great atmosphere, great service, great wine. What more can I say? If you're looking for a quiet venue to kick back and relax - to enjoy a date - to talk philosophy - to host an event - to read and write - then you're in luck. Brooklyn Winery is a rustic, inviting, and independent space that resists the rush and pretension of Williamsburg.

Went here a few weeks ago with my best pal and my boyfriend and we ended up having the cutest three-person date.
We actually went that night because Brooklyn Winery was hosting a gourmet cupcakery and providing drink specials to boot.
The three of us split a delicious bottle of rose' (which was VERY decently priced) and headed over to the cupcake table. While there, we tried the following:
...Bacon and vanilla cupcake
...Lavender cupcake
...Red velvet cupcake (duh)
All were delicious but the highlight of the night was the PHOTO BOOTH (with props!). The bartender even gave me free tokens for the booth, which I thought was really sweet.
All things considered, this is a perfect date spot - whether with friends or a romantic interest. -

Although a bit overpriced, this is really a nice place with good wine and food.
I'm not judging by single incidents, but at their prices you cannot get away with service mistakes like this:
The heater was broken (in February); so you get in the room, not realizing the cold as you still have your jacket on. No notice by the waiters about the issue with the heater. After you ordered, you realize that it's really freezing and when I got my red wine (at a temperature of a white), I asked the waiter (in pullover and scarf), if there might be something wrong with the heater. So she informed that it's broke and they unfortunately cannot do anything about it (can I?). No concessions or hot drink on the house, no apologies - that's it, after making clear that I really don't feel comfortable. Bad move. Their boss just left the freezing bar open that day, hoping that some idiots will come anyway, and I was one of them ..
Still a good place, but just 3 stars from me. -
Review from Matt E.
The sheer size of the space is quite impressive and the rustic but classy atmosphere really fits the space quite well. To my knowledge, this is Brooklyn's only winery. Despite being in Williamsburg the hipsters don't really flock here the way I thought they would, the people here were nicely mixed. Although they make several types of wine in house (from grapes grown in the Fingerlakes region of upstate New York), they have a great wine list beyond their own creations. In addition to the bottles they have wine on tap which is amazing. I don't quite get that they use beakers if you're ordering a bottles worth of wine from the tap but it doesn't bother me too much as you're not drinking out of beakers. There's a great little lounge room on the second floor that I was at with a party, I'm not sure if the area is always open but if it is, it's really my favorite area to sit back and enjoy a nice wine with one of their menu options. The menu is small and is mostly items for sharing but what they do have is well prepared. I particularly loved the goat cheese with cranberry compote. Prices overall are a bit high but so is the quality so it's generally worth it.

I met some girl friends out for a happy hour at the Brooklyn Winery. Cool place! It is a large space with a wooden motif. There are long picnic table-like settings and barrels around the area. There were only a few people there while we were lounging, but I could see it holding plenty of people comfortably.
I ordered a white wine (they priced it by the half or whole glass, and the bottle) and just loved it. Of course, I don't remember what it was called, but the bartender got my craving for super sweet just right. The staff was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about their selections. My only gripe was the cost ($12 for the glass), but it was quite worth it. -
Review from Annie S.
I feel a little bad about giving this place three stars, but I just can't bring myself to give it a fourth.
A group of friends and I came here on a rainy Friday night, so sitting outside was not an option. Luckily, there was an almost-empty table waiting for us.
The atmosphere is very dark and inviting. I want to say it's cozy, but that's the wrong word. I guess it's relaxing will do.
A musician started playing almost immediately after we sat, which made it impossible to hear my friends sitting across from me. That was sort of a turn-off.
They have a very extensive (and somewhat expensive) wine menu, which was fun to look through. Our server, though super friendly (with the BEST Australian accent ever), was very slow. It took her about 20 minutes to take our drink order and then another 15 to deliver. And it wasn't busy at all.
I only had one glass of wine, but the portion was generous, especially since it was white wine served in a red wine glass. A friend got one of the tasting menus, which she enjoyed. It was hard to hear the explanations of the wines over the music, though. They also had a selection of (I guess overpriced) beers that a couple of my friends got.
Maybe I need another go-round because I really like the overall idea of the place, but it just wasn't all the way there for me yet. -

I really really like this place. It is large first off and that is what ny needs more of, large spaces! There is nothing i dislike more than pushing through a bunch of people and being squished in a space.
But I did happen to check this place out on a sunday afternoon, so this review is based on that. I can't tell you what happens after it gets dark.
I had the red flight and the fella who helped us out was training so the other fella stepped in and gave us some knowledge. It was all very good to know and the wines were delicious. This place really fills a need in the neighborhood that i can get on board with.
Really good ones, good food. I had the sausage and it was tasty. A little pre dinner treat.
Liked the crowd, liked the ambiance. Overall just a good experience! -
Review from Maddie O.
This place has a truley gorgeous interior. All dark woods and interesting antiques displayed throughout, I spent a solid 15 minutes just exploring the massive space and discovering hidden treasures, like a vintage grape press.
The first time I came here was for a Kentucky Derby Party. I never would have guessed that it was the first event of its kind at this venue, because everything was executed flawlessly. The bartenders kept the mint juleps rolling all day, and were friendly and helpful when engaged in discussion of the wine list. There is TONS of space, several large indoor rooms, an outdoor patio, and a cute little "lounge" tucked away behind the bar. Its an ideal space for more private events.
I came one other time for a friends birthday party, we took over the lounge space an enjoyed some fine wines. Props for the moderate noise level even on a busy Friday night. Recommended for a classy night out!Listed in: Cheap-ish Dates, Treatin' Myself

I knew Brooklyn had the good beer (my go-to beer is the Brooklyn Lager), but I had no idea they were in the wine business too!
The Brooklyn Winery is truly a gem in Brooklyn. The atmosphere is excellent. A somewhat, modern-cool feel for the inside bar and lovely summer/spring feel in the outdoor garden space. The service was attentive and friendly.
We went for the "First Taste" event where they were premiering three new wines - a riesling, chardonnay, and pinot noir. I would buy a bottle of all three! A random person asked us which was our favorite and, although we all enjoyed them all, none of us had the same favorite. I was also super satisfied with the appetizers that were served. I particularly enjoyed the lamb meatballs and mushroom crostinis!
Although I am an UWS, I will definitely make my way back to this winery for more great wine, food, and atmosphere! -

I lied.
It's not Traif, but its Brooklyn Winery that makes me wish I lived in williamsburg.
Get the blauschimmel and tomme crayeuse. The first is a subtle blue cheese. Perfect for people who don't like blue cheeses.... tomme crayeuse is just plain awesome, I want to roll around in it. It's a French soft cheese that has and earthy mushroomy taste.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Finally, paid a visit to this place last night and were not disappointed. The place has a nice but not overwhelming wine selection which they serve by sizes starting at half glass. The staff is fantastic and very knowledgeable and basically explains you everything about every single type of wine they have. They have appetizers too and we quite enjoyed their cheese selection (which is small but very carefully selected). We came there on Friday night and it was less than half full but we still had to wait half an hour for us to be helped; so when the waitress came, she apologized and brought one of the wine flights we ordered on the house for keeping us waiting that long.
They have nice outside seating area and a jazz band that plays inside on Fridays. The only con I can think of is the prices which are more on a high side for this type of an establishment (the average glass of wine cost $13-14). We'll be definitely back. -

I love this place. I love them. I love their wine!
The customer service was superb! We had the back room on the 2nd floor without reservations btw and the service kept coming!
We tried the pinot noir, champagne, sparkling and another bottle of something else. They know their drinks and what goes well with the wines!
We also tried the cheese and meat board. It complemented the wine SO well. I cant recall anything! Just ask them and they'll know. I been to Napa a LOT of the time and their wines are UP there with the vineyards!
My friend told them it was my birthday and they absolutely refused to let me pay even when I snuck out to try to pay some of the bill lol. Anywho, even though my friend was pretty wasted they some how went along with it I don't know what she did at the end, but at least we went home ok! -

I came here for the "Thinking Local" Coolhaus event because I wanted to get another taste of Coolhaus delicious ice cream sandwiches.
I walked in and the winery looked really nice. But the odd thing is they don't sell their own wine. However, you can come and make your own Chilean wine though. So since they have the tools necessary to make wine I just found it odd they don't sell it. *shrugs shoulders*
Anyways, I walked over to the bar and told the bartender I was here for the event. He checked my name off the list and gave me a ticket good for one ice cream sandwich. He also gave me a few red wine selections to choose from and I was ready to go. I ordered the Malbec.
I walked over to the Coolhaus table and was greeted by a couple of friendly ladies. I took the liberty to try some ice cream samples and settled on the peanut butter ice cream with red velvet cookies.
The combo was delicious. I was happy with my decision. I then wanted to order something from the menu. The Moroccan flank steak stood out to me. I ordered it and it was really good. I usually order my steak medium well but the server there said they only prepare the steak medium rare because its a thin steak. ??? Ok I guess.
The steak was good but a bit on the chewy side and it was a little more pink than what I'm used to. But I enjoyed the meal, especially the herb couscous salad.
What I really liked is they served water in a wine bottle. Of course you can pour it into a glass but I usually am served water in a pitcher or carafe. It was cute. -

Love love love this place. I stopped in this weekend with a friend because we came here before for an event a few months ago and had been talking about coming back. Our experience was even lovelier than the first time. I definitely recommend!!
Reasons this place is awesome:
The wine: I've had excellent experiences here. This weekend did the summer wine flight, and loved all the wines. We paired it with some cheeses, and were not disappointed.
The staff: Super friendly and knowledgeable. All of the staff are uber laid back, which gives the place an overall relaxed feel.
Ambiance: Love the decor. Feels really rugged and warehouse-y feeling in a good way. Also has a cool outdoor space, another funky room filled with old photos (didn't get to visit because there was a private party in there). Love the long picnic tables and the bar which seemed uber popular.
