Best pizza place in Tucson if not the whole state of AZ in quality & price.
The only issue with this awesome pizza operation is SANITATION and HYGINE of the prep, and pizza makers staff.
No hair nets, no gloves, and truly the whole seen looks unsanitary.  Hair is all over their faces, wearing sleeveless tops, shorts, and really operating more like a street stand than an established restaurant.
I give them 5 stars on food and 1 star on sanitation.
I wonder what the health department has to say about it.
It is still my favorite pizza place, I just wish they clean up their act..

The employees here are insanely obnoxious and rude. After NOT being told that my slice of pepperoni was gonna take over 15 minutes, I stood by the counter waiting for what I figured would only take a minute or two. The people who make the pizza are right by the counter, so I was watching how they made it. They were very busy, so it was fascinating watching the assembly line as they turned the balls of dough into disks and sloppily scattered sauce across it. Anyway, after a few minutes ( I was starting to realize that they hadnt even started on my slice, so it was gonna take a while) one of them proceeded to comment loudly on how I was creeping her out. The others proceeded to joke around and insult me while looking me in the eye so I shamefully decided to sit down. I heard one of them say "thank god." i can't even imagine the egos on these douchebags. to put this in perspective, I am 22 years old, have a little bit of stubble; i am not dirty or deranged or anything. I know I wasn't looking at them creepily because I didn't find any of them remotely attractive; I was mainly looking at the pizza, which seemed otherwise okay, but was burnt by these incompetent egotistical brats.

Management: fire everyone who was working tonight.

Honestly, the pizza's not bad.  But...

Be ready for complete chaos when ordering over the phone.  I was put on hold for several minutes.  The person taking the order didn't repeat it back to me nor did they give me a price total until I asked.  There was so much background noise when I ordered the pizza I was 100% convinced that they'd screw something up.  I ordered pizza for tonight to arrive at 6:30 at a friend's house.  It showed up around 5pm.  Apparently, they didn't understand how to place an order for a future time.

There are easier (and cheaper) ways to get pizza in town and I might have to consider other options in the future.

Probably my favorite slices in Tucson along with Time Market. It is cheap. Good happy hour specials for pizza + beer.  I give the pizza 4 stars.

Counter service has always been pretty mediocre, but I was recently there for the first time in several years and it was worse than usual. To the point where you had to fill your own water and drinks. And, it was pretty dirty. The girl working the counter made little or no effort to wipe down dirty tables and just sat there at the counter and watched the customers do it. The floor was covered with dirty napkins. We asked for limes for our beers and she told us to go see if the bar next door had them? I give the recent service and cleanliness 1 star. It used to probably be a 2.5 and sometimes a 3. That is about what I'd expect. 1 Star is pushing it.

I hope they make an effort to clean up and improve service as it would be a shame if this place went further downhill as it has always been a good slice.

Meh.  That's all I can say, meh.  The pizza was okay.  My garlic knots were severely burnt but served to me regardless.

The pizza is uninspired and definitely not the best pizza in town.  I give them points for solar power and for ease of online ordering.

Honestly, if this places wasn't on 4th ave it would be lost in all the other mediocre pizza restaurants in Tucson.

KNOTS!!! Mmmmmm....soooo good! My daughter has been bragging on these things since she came with a friend and let me tell you...after an evening of rock climbing, these things really hit the spot! The fresh chunks of roasted garlic on these buttery nodules are mouth watering. My taste buds fell in love! Problem is I'm a serious bread junkie and I'm pretty sure I could overdose on these bad boys.

Did I mention we also ordered a slice each. I got the basil tomato and my husband got some funky concoction with artichoke hearts. The pizza was just amazing. I love thinner pizza so it really hit the spot. My husband got the thick crust and he wasn't as happy with his.

The other cool and nerdy thing I thought was cool was watching the TV inside that shows their stats on their solar panels.  Every few minutes it flashes how much energy is being used and how much they're paying. It's actually really cool in a nerdy kind of way. GO SOLAR! What I didn't know is that Sky Bar is attached. Way cool!

Brooklyn is by far my favorite place to get pizza, and there are a lot of places in Tucson with pizza that I love.

But theirs is so perfect, delicious cheese and sauce, thin crust. It's amazing to get at the restaurant but also good as delivery. And here's what I really love, the slices are not ridiculously gigantic. I'm over the contest to see who can get closest to serving you the equivalent of an entire pizza in one slice.

I usually just get a cheese slice, but recently I shared a veggie pizza with some friends and OMG it was the best veggie pizza ever. They put green chiles in there, and they mix the veggies in with the cheese so everything doesn't fall off immedietly. So so so good.

I dont think I've ever had garlic knots that weren't burned. But hey, they're free, right? One time I ordered a pepperoni and mushroom and an hour later, it was anchovies and mushroom that was delivered. When I called, I was told that if I brought the pizza back myself, they would replace it. Another time, it took an hour and a half to arrive and I later found my receipt wadded up and thrown on my drive way. Clearly done by the driver. My friend told me that when she called about her pizza (about 2 hours after placing the order), she was told that the driver had accidently put the pizza on the roof of his car and drove away, so they had to make a new one. I got an email a few days ago from the owner asking me to vote for Brooklyn Pizza as Tucson's Best. Really? If the employees abstained from the weed and actually did their jobs, this place would be one of Tucson's Best. However, right now, I wouldnt order from them again.

ME (in all seriousness): We have got to try some garlic NUTS!

HUBS (looking confused and starting to smile): Garlic nuts, really?

ME (amused at my slip-up): Did I really just say nuts? I meant knots...

Brooklyn's knots, nam nam. Soft garlicky dough that keeps me licking my fingers for salty garlic remnants. Bite size and addictive. I find myself reaching out for another after each mouthful. Dip it in the sweet red sauce and I'm golden.

And how about that Noo Yawk style pizza? I like how Lisannette R put it, "flavor is KING" and "sauce is boss." Hells yeah, girlfriend. We got a pepperoni pizza that was greasy, fatty, flavorful, and everything else a pizza should be, with a comfortably soft and seasoned crust. And the next best part about this place is that it's reasonably priced, especially if you use their online coupons.

So yes, the knots, pizza, and even the salads are good, but service is kind of a mess. They have limited handheld menus to look over at your table, and if it's your first visit, you might find yourself awkwardly standing in the way of, well, everything, as you read the menu on the wall. Face it, these people are swamped. There's a constant line out the door, which means you beda get yoh ohdah straight foist.

Greasy. Greasy. Greasy. And that was a veggie pizza! I cannot imagine how greasy a meat-pizza would've been. Additionally, the flavor was, for lack of a better term, gross. I've always loved the pizza I've eaten in Brooklyn, NY and this place really gives it a bad name! I will not eat hear again.

I've currently got a bun in the oven and my most common pregnancy craving thus far has been cheesy, thin-crust pizza.  My husband is still thrown for a loop every time his normally melted-cheese hating wife requests NY style pizza, but he's more than happy to oblige my cravings.

On a recent stop in Tucson we were doing the 4th Ave walk, and we decided we needed a snack.

When you order a slice at BPC, you get to pick your own toppings from a very long list (each topping is 60 cents and they don't skimp).  I added artichoke hearts, sausage, and eggplant to my slice, and it was covered in topping.  Each slice is heated post-topping.

While my husband had been pushing for Magpie, both of us were more than happy with our Brooklyn Pizza Co slices.  Although take this review with a grain of salt, as I'm obviously under the influence of a pizza-addicted baby and my husband is soaking up every chance he can get to eat greasy pizza before I revert back to my grease-hating self!

    Dear Brooklyn Pizza:

I have endured your poor service, surly staff, hit or miss quality, total disorganization, disheveled appearance, lack of any kind of logical flow for ordering and picking up, etc, etc for years now.

And honestly, I was pretty happy with you for a long time.

    No longer.

You know what, I have decided that you are pretty terrible.

And to that end I am voting with my wallet and saying NO MORE. I will NEVER spend another dollar in Brooklyn Pizza.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the comparisons to actual Brooklyn pizza that so many reviewers get in to here. Or the solar panels. Or Sky Bar, etc.

Brooklyn Pizza, these things are the least of your worries. You do some times make a pretty decent pie, but we live in Tucson - and I don't see the point in belaboring comparisons to a mythical pie in the sky in NY.

    So what is the problem?

I think it is Tony Vaccaro.

Yes, Tony, I am calling you out by name. Why? Well, you own the joint and you are the manager - and because you were the person I first talked to when I arrived in your restaurant tonight. Then you did everything you could to not interact with me.

People, there is a long and boring story of how I got to where I am now, but the most significant issue was the pie Brooklyn produced for me tonight.

What was wrong? Well, the meager toppings I was granted for my $23 covered at best 70% of the available space, the slices were all different sizes and the crust not even cut cleanly through (not even close).

And did I mention the 'service'? You guys ignored me, forgot my salad, had no idea how to deal with an order placed on line (it was as if I was the first person to ever use this service) and your response to the pie you served up to me was, well, lame.

It's too bad, we need more good places to eat on 4th. Brooklyn is most certainly not our salvation.

Oh, and by the way, the slices that had toppings on them were actually pretty tasty. It is too bad that is irrelevant to this review.

Great pizza! I love to watch the dough being prepared. I'm a fan of spinning dough! The prices are very affordable. The topping selection rocks. I love to ask the servers what their favorite toping is--then order it. I've had incredible pizzas I would never have been able to try.

The atmosphere is laid back--you order at the counter, but the experience is wonderful!

I mentioned last time that service was hit or miss. This time they "forgot" our ticket. It seems like they lack any form of mindfulness for the needs of customers. I'll stand by my earlier review and say that selling slices out of the window is still brilliant but I won't be back inside until they get their act together.

10-21-2011:  In addition to writing my review here I also sent an email to the owner, Tony.  I got back a great response with apologies for my bad experience and assurances they are going to work to resolve these types of issues better, and "work to keep their product and service top notch".

I decided to use my free pizza for dinner (pepperoni and extra cheese).  I was quoted a wait time of about 35 minutes for pick-up... which seemed long but as soon as I got there I could see why, the place was hopping.

The time quoted was about correct, and I could even figure out which person was Tony, the owner.  I added some garlic knots on to my order so I could munch on my way home... not so good for a kiss from the husband, but other than that they were totally divine!

Pizza was delicious!  So tasty, I love the herbs and the cheese, and the crusts were a huge hit with my 10 month old.

I can't say anything yet about the front line staff, I didn't have much interaction while waiting, but pizza?  AWESOME.

Disclosure:  I was born in Brooklyn and lived in NY most of my adult life.

The best NY style pizza in Tucson (which makes it the best regular pizza because Chicago blows).  Some visits not as good as others but hey, even when pizza isn't great it's damned good. I'm a purist- plain cheese for me, please. Being able to sit on 4th or go next door to Sky Bar puts it over the top.

For real Italian (Neopolitan) style pizza visit Vero Amore at Dove Mountain. Skip the in town location. That place is an embarrassment to the name and should be closed

Probably the best New York style pizza in town. The method is right, the sauce is good, the ingredients are top notch. The staff: relaxed, often tatt'd stoners. The clientele: relaxed, often tatt'd stoners. Ok that's not fair...everyone and their mother eats here, but the older and/or more refined crowd usually orders to go or has it delivered.

I gotta agree with Corey D. on this one: its all about the garlic knots. The pizza is awesome, but the garlic knots are outstanding. And the best part is that with one of their coupons (which comes with every pizza box) gets you a free dozen with any pie order. Oh, and there's only one size of pie, so calculate your hunger to pizza ratio accordingly.

If you're dining in, slices are almost always the best way to go; reason being that a fresh pie is just too hot and gooey and all your cheese is going to slide right off. And its not like you're gonna sit there with a fresh pie in your face just waiting for everything to congeal to the right texture, right? Who has that kind of discipline? Not me...

So the slices are cooked a little better if you're getting it super hot and fresh. The tips of the slices are still gonna be floppy, but anyone whose actually been to New York knows thats the correct way to have it. You fold in the tip, then fold the slice in half. That's the New York way, and if you're complaining about it, you're just ignorant.

The price is pretty decent especially if you're going simple with the toppings or ordering before 4pm or after 10pm. The place is crowded from open to close, but its usually feasible to get a table. You can order your meal at Brooklyn and they will bring it to you next door at Sky Bar if you wish. The two places are owned by the same people.

I also just have to say that the whole solar powered thing is pretty cool. I mean, other than being able to say they do it, it really has no other affect on their business...and Im sure the hundreds of thousands of dollars they put into that system dont even actually supply all of their energy. But it is a uniquely "Tucson" thing to do. Uber hippy status. Makes me feel like by eating their pizza and drinking their beer, that Im in some way helping the planet. And although I know that's complete BS, its a fun escape and an excuse to drink and eat excessively.

As a New Yorker and pizza enthusiast, I am personally offended by Brooklyn Pizza Company.

My love for pizza runs so deep that, prior to moving to Tucson, I did some research to find out who's who in the Tucson pizza game. Among a healthy list of local favorites, Brooklyn Pizza Company (BPC) was at the top of the heap.

I must admit, I was a little skeptical that BPC's pizza would live up to its name, but I tried to stay optimistic and I wanted to give them a fair shake. Mind you, I just moved there, so I very much wanted to fall in love with their pizza; but, alas, Brooklyn Pizza Company and I were never meant to be.

I ordered two slices: one plain, and one with mushrooms. The plain slice tasted exactly like the way I ordered it: plain. In Brooklyn, NY, a plain slice is a flavorful slice that's devoid of toppings; in Brooklyn Pizza Company it's interpreted as one that's devoid of flavor. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar, the cheese tasted like something even the CEO of Polly-O would turn his nose at, and the crust was flaccid and undercooked. Needless to say, I wasn't salivating over thought of digging in to my second slice.

If you thought my next slice couldn't be any worse, think again. While the mushrooms were indeed fresh (as in not from a can), they were served raw and tasted like they had been marinated in (I kid you not) chlorine. My mushroom slice tasted so bad that I couldn't bring myself to take a second bite, so into the garbage it went.

I hate to sound like another prejudiced pizza snob from NY, so I'll close this review by stating that I have thoroughly enjoyed plenty of excellent pizza in Tucson and elsewhere, and that there's sensational pizza to be had all over the country and all over the world (with the exception being Boston, of course).

we ordered our pizza at 710pm. The delivery guy finally called at 820 to find out where we were, and then 840 to reconfirm because they put the wrong hotel name on the receipt. You can tell this place is not well managed based on the other reviews. Hopefully they will get it together for the sake of supporting the "local" economy. Pizza looks good. It seems hot even with the delay. Hubby says it tastes a little rubbery (probably from the time the cheese settled).  Garlic knots tasted great as all the other yelpers said. Pizza is great, but I recommend you go in and not delivery.

Now I'm a deep dish fan, but I think Brooklyn has got the new york style down right.  This is the go to place after hitting up the bars on 4th ave, because after a night of throwing back the sauce, you'll think this pizza is the best in the world.  It's also not bad for delivery; they got some good deals for UA students, including a XL cheese pie for only $8.88.  Just say you have the coupon and anybody can get it.  Not bad in my book.

Once upon a time Brooklyn would have got at least 3 stars from me. We used to get delivery quite often until my kids went through a deep dish phase. Enter Zachary's. Anyway, we were craving some New York style a while ago and decided to go to Brooklyn's. Horrible mistake. The service was awful but the pizza is my biggest complaint. We ordered our usual 1/2 cheese, 1/2 pepperoni. The pepperoni had gushed grease all over the entire pie. The crust simply couldn't handle that amount of grease. It leaked through the paper plates onto the table and made a huge mess. We tried using forks but the whole thing just disintegrated. Absolutely disgusting! Now I know it's thin crust and I know that pepperoni is greasy, but this looked like a freakin' oil spill. None of us could choke down more than a few bites. I had heard that the owner cared more about the bar now, but figured it was just rumors. Sadly not. I can't believe the stellar reviews this place is still getting, honestly. A couple of years ago yes, but after our experience? I know that we aren't alone because I've read similar reviews. Oh well. My opinion probably won't matter but for whatever it's worth, there it is.

Now this is a great pizza! I love that you can order exactly what you want for a slice or a whole pizza. The garlic knots though, that's what keeps you coming back. They are so good and it's impossible to eat just one. You can eat in, take it to go, or order and then go to the Sky Bar next door and they will "deliver". I love the whole vibe of this place. There's a lot of verbiage about Brooklyn here.  This is puzzling: everything they serve is generic and doesn't warrant description.  Pizza, sandwiches, garlic knots, they're all totally unremarkable.  They're fine, perfectly adequate in every way, but not special.  In fact, you've eaten at Brooklyn hundreds of times before you've eaten at Brooklyn.  Blindfolded, you'd never be able to identify a Brooklyn pizza by its flavor.

Oh, and don't let they huge, bustling staff confuse you: they really aren't efficient.

Just a regular pizza place, nothin special. The pizza isn't bad but at the end of the day it's just a slice a pizza.

On the upside fresh garlic knots are tasty, and it's kind of a 4th Ave landmark at this point.

NY Style pizza, pretty good stuff. Ive usually only had it after a night of drinking on 4th Ave. Sucks that they wont let you buy a whole pie at the end of the night, you can only buy by the slice. Be careful of people trying to cut in line acting like they are "drunk" or dont "understand english".

With so many pizza places claiming that they are the best, it's been hard to believe that there even is one.  So far, Brooklyn Pizza has the better (not the best) pizza that we can go to repeatedly.

    FOOD = 3/5
Depending on the pizza and toppings ordered, sometimes it will taste delicious, other times it's just too salty and extremely oily.  The taste of their pizza is not always consistent, more like a hit and miss, regardless if you order the same pizza all the time.

    SERVICE = 2/5
The person taking orders was rude and careless, like it was cool to have a bad attitude.  However, the other staff members were friendly and polite.

    OVERALL = 3/5
I guess it depends on who's working, who's making the pizzas and who's taking orders, it has not been consistent.  Since Brooklyn Pizza tastes better than most pizza joints in Tucson, we will be ordering from them again while crossing our fingers.

The pizza at Brooklyn is fine, but their policies are atrocious. I ordered a pizza, garlic knots and a 2 liter soda last Friday night with a coupon. I asked what my soda options were and I was told Pepsi or Diet Pepsi. My girlfriend and I did not want to drink caffeine so late at night and asked if there was another option. The guy on the phone said he wasn't allowed to substitute, but I could talk to his manager when I went for pickup. I went to pick up the pizza and asked to talk to a manager about getting two smaller sprites. The girl filling my order said that she would get the manager, but instead, she came back and told me he said 'no'. um. HE DIDN'T EVEN COME OUT TO MEET ME.

In short, rude and unaccommodating. I will stick to Magpies.

I will always love Brooklyn Pizza!  All I need to be happy is a beer at Sky Bar and a slice of Brooklyn Pizza on the patio. And maybe some garlic knots on the way.

The pizza is thin with a tasty crust with a bit of chew.  It's always fresh out of the oven with good herbs and spices.  And you can get very creative with the toppings.  I hear potato and onion is the staff favorite, but I have yet to try it.  You really can't go wrong with Brooklyn for a good slice.

The best part - they deliver beer!  I often have a coupon for a large pizza, garlic knots, and a six pack of beer for about $22.  You can't beat that.

I am not a fan of Magpies so for me, Brooklyn wins, hands-down.

Okay, so they don't deliver very far (we're on Prince and 1st), we always have to go pick it up and that's really the only complaint I have here.  Just gotta put this out there:  I am a pizza LOVER from New York...and as far as New York style pizza flavor goes, Brooklyn has got it good.  Their slices are a little smaller than the standard NY style slice but, flavor is KING and they have got it down pat.  The crust is thin and the sauce is boss.  Have a pie without toppings and you'll see what I'm saying...when you add toppings it weighs the pizza down and the staples that make this "New York" will be drowned out.  Okay, so you've experienced the plain...now try this combo:  Chicken, onion and feta!  Oh hell yessss.

On the location:  This place is always packed, line to the door packed but our pizzas are always out the oven and on our table in 15-20 mins.  That's a small price to pay for fresh out the oven pizza if you ask me.  Take a step next door and you can have a drink while you wait.  HEY, if you let them know you're going to be at Sky Bar, they will bring it out to you.

KNOTS. That's where it's at for me!

My brother recently took a trip to T-Town with his wife and all they wanted to do was sit outside. Knowing 4th Ave. is THE place to do that, I suggested we grab some knots and chill at Sky Bar. It was perfect. They usually have bagged up knots ready to go so there's little wait time, and given we were there in the afternoon finding a table was no problem-o. I of course grabbed a alcoholic bevie to wash down my garlic-ed dough, while they both went with Sky Bar's coffee service. All in all it was a great afternoon, in the sun, with some dranks, family, and knots.

    Know Before You Go:

Grabbin a slice to go? Someone probably called in a large 5 topping just before you got there. Patience is a virtue. Have some.

Really good NY style pizza. You can get a whole pie here or just a slice.

Prices were right and this was everything I was expecting in a foldable slice.

The only thing that impressed me about BPC is its advanced use of natural energy.  Solar panels heat the oven that bake your pizza.  The pizza here is like what you'd get if a Greek pizza shop in Philadelphia were to try to make New York style Italian pizza.  The sauce overwhelmed the crust, which, in my opinion the key element of a good pizza.  Its about bread baking as I once saw written on a menu in NYC.

So this place won Tucson Weekly Best Pizza in 2010, dethroning Magpie's.  Two problems with this: (1) I think a blatant kickback scheme they had going inflated their ratings, and (2) they may be resting on their laurels, as quality has noticeably declined these last few months.

Last summer's kickback scheme was simple: signs in the store said if you proved that you wrote a positive Internet review, you'd get a dozen free garlic knots.  Whether this translated to Tucson Weekly votes, I don't know.  Regardless: not cool, Brooklyn Pizza!

As for the quality, maybe tonight was just an off night.  But the sauce was bland, slightly bitter, utterly unsavory.  One slice took 10 minutes to get and it wasn't even very busy.  It's rather clear the staff mostly is UofA students -- which I have no problem with -- but perhaps some essence of the recipes haven't been passed on through training?

I still like the idea of this place, especially the eco-friendly solar panel thing they've got going on.  And of course a late-night slice of pizza is a classic great thing for an entertainment district (not many kitchens are open past 11:00pm on 4th Ave.)

But they've lost some major points with me lately.  Meanwhile, Magpie's recent switch to personal-sized pies (instead of individual slices) has totally rocked my world.  Frankly, for now I strongly suggest you walk across the street and try a Magpie's specialty pizza.
