Excellent customer service! Loved a dress, wasn't in stock in my size, and I need it by Friday. The lovely sales woman (Kat, Kitty? - I don't know, but she's fab) called the Portland store where there is one lone XS in stock, put it on hold for me until it can be shipped out on Monday, and is going to figure out how to get it to me by Friday.

Again, I love the styles at this store, heavy fabric dresses and jumpers, wool skirts, great hats and handbags...LOVE.

There is one nice guy here who always gives his honest opinion about how things look on, and there's one nice girl here who always says I need a smaller size than I actually wear.  (She's always right; I think they subscribe to the concept of vanity sizing.)  Oh, also, the staff will generally leave you alone and let you wander and look around for a really long time.  (I like to look around at stores for a really long time.  It's part of my charm.)

This place totally reminds me of the Gap in the very early 1990s, when you never, ever bought anything on sale because it'd inevitably be, like, $19.95 two weeks later.  (Maybe the Gap is still like that... been a while.)  The stuff's okay, with the occasional standout piece, and the men's section is slightly better than the women's.

This past weekend, a dress I'd been eyeing for weeks finally went from $78 to $52, but they didn't have my size.  When I asked for help, the guy working kind of shrugged and said, "We're sold out of it."  I get that Brooklyn Industries isn't Marc Jacobs or Nanette Lepore (both of whom have happily ordered in pieces from other stores when my size was sold out), but he offered no solutions.  As I was walking out the door, he said, "Oh, that dress might still be on our website!"

Sure enough, it was still available on the website.  I found a coupon code for 30% off any purchase, spent half of the original price on the dress and shipping, and was all, "Bwah hah hah hah hah, Brooklyn Industries.  I got you!  I got you SO GOOD." for hours afterwards.

Hipster prices but not the attitude! A really nice girl named Mia helped me out and although I wasn't planning on spending 100 dollars on a dress I did.  Not exactly a place for someone who is broke and in grad school to shop but none the less cute stuff.  It is a basic black dress that I can wear a lot so hoping its worth the 100 bucks plus the 8% interest I will be paying on my credit card.

Maybe it's because I cut an imposing figure compared to the svelte, pixie-like saleswomen in the store at the time. Maybe it's because I was wearing all one color. Maybe it's because they didn't have all that much in my size.

Whatever it was, the salespeople at this store -completely ignored me.-

And this isn't to be whiny, as if they were both busy. They were chatting idly with each other and there were no other customers in the store. Why ignore the one person in your store at 3pm on a Tuesday? I don't know.

Cute clothes, but rather high prices if it's not on sale. I won't be back.

I don't know exactly what rating to give Brooklyn. The employees were helpful and nice, which is impressive considering the proximity to Urban Outfitters and all the other "too cool to talk to your customers" places around this stretch of Milwaukee. But they didn't have any damn men's clothes! They had one miniscule rack in the back with a very limited selection of mostly blasé shirts that weren't even in my size. Come on, I'm shopping in Wicker Park -- how can you expect me to wear anything bigger than a "small"? I suspect I'll stop in here again to check out some fall jackets, but otherwise... meh.

So, that sassy 15' peacock lap top bag I bought back in June? Good thing it has a lifetime warrantee, because while I was in Santa Fe, one of the snaps fell off. But here is how easy it was to remedy:

Me (having just purchased a super cute jacket from the HOT sales room they've got right now): "I bought a lap top bag here in June, and the snap on the pocket fell off."

Salesgirl: "Which one? You know they have a lifetime warrantee."

I show her: "But I know I don't have my receipt, is that okay?"

Salesgirl: "No problem. When you bring the bag back, we'll just give you this one." She takes down my name and phone number on a sticky pad, attaches it to the new lap top bag, and puts it in the closet.

I return the next day and exchange my bag.

Sweet!

Conveniently located on my street, finally stopped in today.  Basically I found a dozen things I'd like to buy, my bank account thanks me that I stopped after one.

I like the styles here A Lot!  So, it will definitly be a staple place for clothing.  Prices are fair I think, not cheap, but not outrageously expensive for uniquely designed clothes by an independent small design collective.

Sales people are super nice and helpful....the music was kind of loud and overwhelming..but all in all it's a great addition to Milwaukee...so much better than a lame huge chain store like the disaster happening on Damen in Bucktown.

I'm surprised by all the "hating" of this store.  Trust me, the service here is a thousand times better than the Brooklyn Industries in NYC!

Loved all the stuff I bought, all on sale, and at a GREAT discount!  My original handbag that I bought at the original store in NY (about 4 years ago) still goes a long way and always gets a compliment.

Cute clothes that not everyone in middle America will be wearing (let's just say it's not like a Gap or J.Crew)...

Welcome to Chicago, BKI!!!

I'm so glad the brand decided to place it's 1st non-NYC store in Chicago. I am always overchoiced when I'm in Brooklyn Industries. They're designs are casual, smart and hip.  Walked away with a cool asymmetrical hoodie and 2 dresses.  The staff was helpful, friendly and fun.

Go Brooklyn!

Customer service blows - please pay more attention to your customers rather than giggling it up with your female counterparts.  Selection is mediocre, and there is a sales section in the back.  There are some cute messenger bags and such, but not worth the price.  Better store located in NY, obviously, with a better array of goods.

I just wasn't impressed.  There weren't too many things that stood out for me other than the coats.  I think they sell their own branded clothes here.  They also sell accessories that are pretty cool, but it's still pricey.  The sales associates are nice, but with other trendy stores on the street it will be tough to get me back in.  I like what they did putting Obama head masks over the mannequin for election week though.

I stopped into this cute little shop on a whim, in a desperate search for some young, hip work clothes and found just that. AND, everything I liked just happened to be on sale! The sales people were helpful and asked what I was looking for and gave some great suggestions, which I ended up purchasing! Very cute clothes.

I'm not a big fan of most of their clothing; however, if you want a cool, comfy, and WARM jacket, you can find wonderful options at BI.  I found a sassy long black coat which is actually very witch-like but in a good (wicked-like) way.

I am totally into this store! I happened to walk in while checking out Wicker Park for my first time.  And by the way, I really loved the  neighborhood's chill, hipster vibe.  Brooklyn Industries has so many great things: bags, jackets, wallets, etc. I was really digging all the styles of the clothing for both men and women.  The sale items were super great too.  The hubby got a really cool hoody for $19 (originally $64) - what a steal!  I got a super cute peacock tote bacg for $29 (originally $58) and all their bags have a lifetime warranty.  The workers were really friendly and helpful too.  I'm keeping this shop on the top of new faves list.

When did this happen?  Dumb, dumb here has been buying all his BI clothing on-line because he hasn't been able to make it back to NYC to do some shopping.  I technically haven't been to this store, but I just found out about it via my BI email update.  Seriously, I have received uber amounts of complements from all pieces I have purchased from BI.  I love BI because they have great sales and refreshing designs.  Great shopping for chicks and dicks alike.  I can't wait to visit this store!

yes, this label is kind of pricey. but, it is decent quality stuff AND it's also one of those places that when it marks stuff down, it REALLY marks stuff down. it isn't very often that i can find a cute bag and matching wallet for less than $50. i did today at this store. i'm pretty pumped on the lifetime warranty. aaaand not one but two of the people working there helped me out. maybe it was just the warm/sunny weather bringing out the chatty in everyone, but whatever i don't care.

Swell store.  Super friendly staff who will totally engage you and chit chat without pushing crap on you.  A nice change from the douchebag teenagers at the American Apparel up the street who ignore everyone as they twist the fringe on their keffiyahs.

Nice clothes at approachable price points.  (Especially when they're on sale) Interesting without going over the edge.  My only beef is that I always see items that I want on the website that aren't in the store.

Bonus:  Awesome selection of messenger bags (more attractive and practical than either Timbuk2 or Manhattan Portage) and they apparently have a lifetime guarantee.  Haven't had any probs with mine but nice to know!

i kept passing this place at night when it was closed and finally had the opportunity to go in one sunday afternoon.   i loved it...heres why:

1. dog-friendly. they let me bring my dog in the store.  they gave him lots of love and attention.
2. staff was super friendly and helpful and non-pretentious.
3. good sales! ( i scored a new purse for $28!)
4. for boutique-type store, the prices werent out of control.
5. everything is way cute.

I stumbled across this store while looking resale/thrift stores along Milwaukee and really enjoyed it. My only hesitation for shopping there would be some of the prices, but they were having a sale at the time (designer shirts were $20 instead of $50) so I was happy to get a few things. The people that work there are really helpful, and I look forward to returning to see their latest designs and possibly getting a messenger bag. Quality stuff.
