My husband and I love eating here, and the people are so nice that the negative reviews sort of break my heart a little. Sure, it's not fancy or upscale, but the fish always looks and tastes fresh, and they have good offers on roll combos and bentos for lunch and dinner. The fire island roll in all its artery-clogging goodness is one of our favorites here, as is the salmon teriyaki. The sashimi has always been a good choice for me, and their rolls are comparable to other places I've been to in terms of selection and taste. The service is friendly and quick, while still giving us plenty of time to enjoy our hot sake and stare at the aquarium. Even now that we've moved from Prospect Heights to Crown Heights, we consider this place to be worth the trip.
The only negative experience I've had with Haru is their delivery. We were impressed that they were willing to deliver to our new apartment, but the delivery was pretty slow, they got our order wrong, and the food just didn't taste as good or fresh when we opened it up. In the future, we'll stick to dining in. -

Bad sushi. I ordered the spicy salmon roll, and no spicy mayo was included. Not a drop.
The salmon had been minced... it was pretty suspect. Warm and low on flavor. Thank god I had a nice big beer with dinner, or I'd be worried about food poisoning. That's the only upside to this place. Enormous bottles of beer for $3.
I also got an eel and avocado roll which did slightly better, but was no more than average.
The interior decor was alright, and the help were very friendly and nice, but dear god, the food fell flat. Cannot recommend. -

We ordered $50 of sushi - NOT WORTH IT. The Fire Dragon Roll arrived spoiled - smelled of HORRIBLE rotten fish. We called to tell them about it, assuming they would be very apologetic. To our dismay, we were told that we were wrong, that it was not bad and that it was "their way of preparing the fish." We told them we wanted a refund because it was inedible. They proceeded to argue with us, put us on hold for five minutes, and then told us they would offer a 50% credit (off that roll = $6) because if they gave everyone a full refund that asked for it, they would go out of business. That is a very good point. Clearly it happens often.

horrible, terrible, awful, it was an hour and 15 minutes when they said 30-45, the delivery guy SCREAMED at me on the phone to come pick it up because he REFUSED to ring the doorbell. WTF? I'll never order from here again. Oh, and food wise, sushi was warm, they forgot my salad, the rice was bad. I wish I could give it a negative score. disgusting.
