Ever since I started working in nearby DUMBO, I've been finding myself visiting a little more often.
I must say, the folks who work here certainly dote on their customers. The past couple of times I've been here to have a chocolate egg cream its been a tad off. But, not in a way that's worth crapping a brick about nor even complain loudly. Nonetheless, I mentioned how it was a tad off.
The Flatbush Avenue Float comes with a pretzel stick. They forgot to put a pretzel stick in mine so the waitress gave me two and seemed very apologetic. I know two pretzels sticks aren't a big deal but, I really appreciated the gesture and good attitude anyway.Listed in: impress your date

I wanna get a jerk shirt. Because I'm a jerk and I'd like everyone to know that.
And a stuffed animal made from recycled sweaters.
Red velvet twinkie sundae is a win.
Coffee ice cream has real bits of coffee beans, and coconut ice cream has real coconut flakes. I approve of this.
Don't open their drawers, no matter how tempting it is to open things. The smell of old air overwhelms your lungs and fill them with mildew. No, seriously. -

Such a cute ice cream parlor!
Love the decor, service, lots of space. Only ordered scoops of ice cream, coffee, choco chip, toffee. Coffee was really yummy and creamy. The choco chip was good too, but i didn't like the toffee (not a big fan of nuts...)
Minus 1 star for the price (~ $9.5 for a sundae?!?!)
I would come back to try other items though. -

I had a Maple Egg Cream, which was delicious, and the decor is pleasant and fun to explore, but everything is highly overpriced for what it is.

Love this place! Very cute and quaint. This would be a nice place for a date. They also have a huge dining room table in the back with a lot of board games, so you can could also go with a few friends. The servers wear old-timey outfits. I would give this place a 5 if they had a little big bigger food menu - however, the dessert menu is perfect. Highly recommend.

I buy a pretty good Ginger syrup from here -which once prompted me to buy a hot chocolate. Very disappointing. Overly sweet and milky, tasting something like
powdered chocolate. The Chocolate shop on Court Street does a SUBLIME hot
chocolate -just as they should be.
Once my husband and I went in here and shared a sunday. It was rich, heavily coated in cream which I'm not that into, and kinda tasty but nothing to write home about.
The old skool uniforms are a nice touch. -

Blast to the past. A genuine ice cream and pop shop. Vintage, live. The prices are rather steep, but though you pay a premium for the novelty of the space and theme, the treats really are rich and delicious. Great sodas.

I was hoping for a cute saturday date at this much reviewed ice cream shop but it was a terrible expirence.
I have no idea how the food is b/c we never had any.
We get in and it's busy, leave our names at the counter to get seated and procced to watch about half the people who walk in seat them selves. The othe half who are in line with us are bewildered and angry.
I get sick of this after about 20 min, and just and ask a waitress for a table, she seats us right away, with out a glance at the other people on line.
Is there a seating list or not? Guess we will never know.
But it only gets worse from there, once seated we order right away. I get a Sunday off the menu BF orders a root beer float.
We wait, we make small talk about the cute decore, we make small about egg creams, we wait some more. Sevral customers who arive in the interum are served. A full 40 min and 5 glasses of water latter I start to wonder if the make the ice cream fresh for each order.
Eventually we snag a waitress (not ours) to ask if she's seen our waitress. She apologizes for the wait, she swears our order is the next out.
I find her statement somewhat hard to credit when she comes back just a few min latter to ask what we ordered. Our original waitress is nowhere insight.
We re-order and have a realtively short wait until she reappears with tad-da! Not what we ordered.
She offers us a free egg cream, I make the counter offer to simply pay for our non-present food so we can escape.
I guess they met me half way by saying we didn't need to pay for late food we didn't get.
I spent an hour trying to get ice cream and somehow failed. I wish I could give -5 stars. -

Love this place! Anything and everything here gives a total vibe of the 1930s era. Old wooden tables, flavorings in aged bottles and the staff dressed up like they belong in the Archie comics.
I ordered the Simi's Sundae and my husband ordered the Pecan Crumble Sundae, both delish! The crumbles tasted fresh, ice cream had the right amount of sweetness and the caramel sauce just made things even better!
Most definitely will be back! -

I expected a lot from this place from all the reviews but was somewhat disappointed in red velvet twinkie sundae; it was dry and not that flavorful. What was actually really good was the pistachio and cardamon sundae. Everything else was eh.
BUT super cute place to bring friends visiting from out of town! -

Atmosphere: 5
Service: 4

Which is too bad because how hard is it to make a decent root beer float that actually makes it worth the calories and sugar intake? Lacking both vanilla and root beer flavor. Tasted almost like seltzer.
Grilled ham and Swiss was pedestrian. Coffee egg cream nothing special.
Great vibe, and nice folks. But with the food not happening, I won't be back. -
Review from Ruchi M.
This was the first chocolate egg cream I had, and it made me crave them at every place I've been to since. Unfortunately, the bar at Farmacy has been set too high and I'm unhappy with everything else. Then I discovered they also have a maple egg cream!? It is a strange concept but is SO GOOD. The pecan crumble sundae is also beyond amazing but be aware that the crumble (which you will obsessively try and pick out of the dish) is really sweet so you should share with someone.
Excellent and friendly service, too! -
Review from Sarah C.
Old-timey and awesome, Brooklyn Farmacy has a menu and atmosphere that makes me want to be 9 years old and throwing myself a birthday party here. I had the maple egg cream (yum) and shared a grilled cheese. Great job preserving the old decor of the pharmacy.

Returned to eat dessert before dinner (yes backwards I know) and the place is still cute as ever. Decided to go for a chocolate egg cream this time and the Sundae of Broken Dreams. Chocolate egg cream was eh- it basically tasted like chocolate milk with seltzer water (which is I guess what it is essentially but what is so great about that..?)
Sundae of Broken Dreams however- order order order order order! dreaming/drooling about this as i type...stop reading and go order one!1 Previous Review: Show all »

I tend to like quirky places with dark wood and ice cream sundaes. The Brooklyn Farmacy satisfies on both accounts. Whether you like a simple bowl of tomato soup or a classic egg cream, this local shop fits a cool, cool niche. And they have great t-shirts: I'm going back soon to get one.

The malteds and magic 8 ball, as well as Pete, have been determining factors in far too many of my major life decisions. I love this place. Any season, any reason, any day of the week.
My only qualm: what happened to the JERK shirts? -
Review from Krista J.
On a cool winter day going out for ice cream doesn't sound very logical, but a trip to the Brooklyn Farmacy was just what I wanted to do! I just shouldn't have picked a holiday...since it's so family friendly, there were a TON of kids there (and thus, a ton of strollers and stressed out parents). I'd love to go back on a workday when I'm playing hookey.
The Vanilla Egg Cream (a famous Brooklyn treat) was outstanding! So yummy! And the Hot Flash drink was awesome...a scoop of ice cream in a hot drink...I opted for chocolate ice cream in hot chocolate...I've never seen or tasted anything quite like it. They also serve some sandwiches and small bites...all very 1950s and fun.
Service was a little slow and disorganized, but as I mentioned, it was a holiday and really busy. All the staff were very nice, though. And the bathroom was clean...so important! -

Probably my new favorite place; ever. Went with my little sister and sat at the bar. The interior is an absolute spectacle! The menu is chock full of simple pleasures done right.
Amazing staff with fantastic style and smiles all around. These people look like they love working there and are happy to chat. One guy who seemed to be a manager or owner talked with us for awhile and divulged his secret to Brooklyn's best hot chocolate, let us try the new mustard he was so stoked about, and made us laugh quite a bit!
Absolutely cannot wait to bring anyone and everyone who visits me in Brooklyn here. -
Review from Corine P.
I've lived down the block from Farmacy for about 2 years now. We decided to finally check out what the hype is about when we had our sisters and cousins over this past weekend. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the desserts and the hot drinks were delicious but it looked like they were UNDERSTAFFED that night.
We were a group of 6 and one of us ordered a Cherry Limerickie. While the rest of us received our orders, the limerickie never came. We notified our waitress said she'd check on the order again. After a while, we finished our desserts and drinks and but the limerickie never came. We asked for it again and they said they were having issues in their kitchen. They could have at least told us while we were all devouring our desserts. We eventually canceled the order after waiting a few more minutes. In the end, the limerickie never came and one of us was stuck sipping water. Sadness for my first time at Farmacy.
I was really turned off by this experience even though the sundaes were good. Maybe I'll give it another chance in the next two years. -

I don't really get this place but kids LOVE it. The prices are outrageous and the ice cream and floats are just OK, however the atmosphere is really adorable. If you have kids, you have to check this place out at least once. It gets pretty packed when school lets out so beware.

pass on the coffee egg cream, but go for the vanilla if you have a sweet tooth.
stole many sips and spoonfuls of a perfect root beer float, their coffee isn't bad either.
prices could be lower, tons of kids here all the time
lots of overpriced but nicely selected grocery items -

Went here this weekend with the bestie. It was adorable the way everyone was dressed, and the ice cream sundaes were super delish. I can't remember what my sundae was called but it had amazing caramel and pretzel bits. My friend had the pecan one, hers was good too, but I preferred mine. I'll definitely be back to try something new next time!

I haven't had a soda float in years and years and my chocolate ice cream root beer soda float was just perfect. I felt like a kid again and ignore the guilty little voice in my head as i slurped it down. Food is decent, staff very friendly, and the atmosphere perfectly quaint. They carry local & neighbor items on their menu which is always nice to see. Damn you peanut butter ice cream sundae, i might have to eat salads for the next two or three days to even out the score...Well worth it, and a great date spot!

Heavenly. I showed up on a Saturday afternoon around 4 and was seated in about 5 mins (awesome). And let me warn you that every single offering on the menu sounds amazing. It usually takes me a few seconds to zero in on what I want to order, but this time I was completely perplexed.
Our server was wonderful and I loved the decor. I felt like a little kid again and had to checkout the wooden toys + products lining the shelves.
Oh wait, right, I should focus on the food! I got two scoops, coffee and coconut and had to try the hibiscus soda. I was blown away, it was excellent! The soda was life-changing.

The options to experience an old-school soda fountain are severly limited nowadays. And when you do find one here and there, they tend to be either rundown or kind of cheesy. Not so with Brooklyn Farmacy.
Slightly over a year old, it boasts an authentic vibe nonetheless. It's not till you look closely that you can tell the place is actually fairly new. The decor is truly something else. Kudos to the interior designer.
I'm not a fan of paying $7 for a 10 oz milk shake...I mean, that's not even the size of a soda can. But I've got to say that was one GREAT freaking shake!
The crowd only adds to the experience. The Brooklyn crowd that frequented this place when I visited last weekend were friendly young families and the kids were all relatively well-behaved.
I highly recommend Brooklyn Farmacy and you can trust me; I'm an Elite. ;) -

Great sodas, snacks & desserts! I had an egg cream for the first time (maple), my friend had a cola w/ a homemade syrup. The grilled cheese was wonderful, lots of cheese in it, and it came w/ a great local ketchup and pickle (I think they have a couple varieties). Red velvet twinkle sundae (w/ chocolate, coffee and vanilla ice cream) was good. The cake was dense, which helped it keep it consistency even when the ice cream melted.
The service was amazing, we had a couple waitresses who were both very friendly and enthusiastic. They help explain the local origins of all the food and made great recommendations.
Decor was great, kind of like a speak-easy but made for the daytime & kid friendly. They had games (scrabble, cranium, dominos, etc), which makes it for a fun place.
They also had a bunch of syrups/jams/etc up on the walls that you can purchase and take home. -

You MUST get the red velvet twinkle split!!! Homemade red velvet twinkies alongside coffee, vanilla & chocolate ice cream w/ whipped cream & a cherry... Delish!
The maple ice cream sundae was pretty good too... One of their season specials :) It was so good w/ the walnuts & caramel sauce!
Chilled, relax atmosphere. Great customer service. & loving the set-up of the place! Looks like an old school apothecary! ;) -

It's like, if you were looking for a nice wholesome place to take your special lady, maybe share a malt and ask if she wants to go steady, this is your place.
We stopped in on a Tuesday night for dessert and found live music as well. I'm not a huge fan of egg creams myself, but I can vouch for the floats. They have all different flavors of soda and ice cream to choose from, but I go for the classic root beer float with vanilla ice cream. Call me old fashioned. -

Came here after learning about it from The Chew. Thank you for helping indulge my sweet tooth on a Sunday night at 9pm! Who's open at that time? Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain is!
It's super cute and picturesque. If you've watched the movies where the gang hangs out at the local soda fountain, this is it.
Service- As sweet as their syrups. Everyone here is kind from beginning to end. I sat at the counter and also enjoyed watching them make their concoctions! However there's plenty of seating for your strollers, knickknacks, families, and bigger groups.
What I ordered-
Chocolate Egg Cream $2.50 was delicious, sweet and simple and priced right. It's more than your ordinary chocolate milk made with nestlee syrup from your fridge. Give it a try!
Pumpkin Sundae $9.50- the ice cream is phenomenal. It tastes just like a pumpkin pie but in ice cream form, perfect for fall! The worker said he likes the sundae but prefers pecans instead of wet walnuts. I think next time, I'll take his suggestion. The wet walnuts were good but didn't make the sundae out of the world.
Concord Grape Soda ~$3. 50 (i think) - it's their seasonal flavor and so my friend gave it a try. After a sip, I was hooked, better than the liter you can buy at your deli. The syrup is sweet though, so it's more of a dessert than a side drink. -

Even if Brooklyn Farmacy served me a bowl of those little scraps that get caught in the sink drain, I would likely still eat it because the Farmacy is just so darn cute. I could basically live in the back room with the old typewriters and bottles. Vintage details adorn the whole place, from the lettering on the windows down to the girls who work there. The ice cream is good too; my sister and I shared some heaping sundaes and were not disappointed. I'd like to try an egg-cream sometime, simply because I've never had one and they offer them.
