What a great place to hang out with some friends and enjoy the view of both the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge. There are several sections of the park where you can play with your kids on swings, have a picnic on benches or even during the summer time relax on the floating beach.
During the summer every Thursday there is "Movies with a view". The movie is projected on a screen comparable in size to your local movie theater. No seats are provided you will have to bring your own chair or towel to rest on.
Definitely a nice place to go to and just relax.
I came here only once with my Canto Meetup in July 2008. The view of Manhattan's skyline is beautiful! Photographers and sketch/paint artists can spend a whole day here for landscape portaits (with weather permitting). Located in DUMBO (District Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) area of Brooklyn, it's Brooklyn's jewel.
In the summer months (weather permitting) there are free outdoor movies at this park for "Movies Under the Stars" to see Stephen King's "Stand By Me."
N.B. patrons must get here very early for a spot and a blanket or pillow is needed as you'll be sitting directly on the grass. Pets are not permitted at this park.

Dear BBP,
You are a jem! My sister has lived in BK for 3 years now and she has somehow withheld that you were here!!! We biked down from Cobble Hill and found a slew of rejects from the free movie that was playing. It's was overly crowded, but that was the charm of it all. Tons of people had made little picnics and brought their families out. The view, well, although spectacular, frustrating at times with the subway train going by on the Manhattan Bridge. Mayor Bloomberg, is there anything you can do about this noise?
Next time, I shall bring the boyfriend and maybe we can snuggle under a blanket :)
I LOVE BK!

Today I had a bad day UNTIL.....
Overwork life during the last 10 days ended up last night (or very early in the morning to be realistic) with an "out of battery" state.
I couldn't get enough rest though, and I'm blaming a meeting scheduled very early in the morning.. which was delayed 30 min and finished later than usual... Nice start...I'm already stress out.
do you know that feeling when somehow you notice that the day is not gonna be fun? yeah that one...
The feeling became a reality...small annoying things makes a bad day.
Adding more stress to this scenario, today I had to leave work early because I was meeting 2 friends at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
I'm already late , I'm tired... a trip from Upper East Side to Brooklyn Bridge..sigh
But overall I wanna see my friends.....so I run, I got the train, I fall sleep for barely 5 min and I reach the Brooklyn Bridge Park by first time in my life...
Speechless....
I freeze myself during some seconds to retain the scene. This is one of the best views of the city. No matter how was the day, no matter how tired I am.. I just wanna stay.
I meet my friends, I relaxed talking to them while the nigth fall over the Bridge... Just a PerFect MoMent
Whats more...why we decided to be there today?
Movie with A View 10th anniversary at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Thanks to my friend Sarah W., who also submitted it to Yelp.
Today's movie: "To catch a Thief " Alfred Hitchcock
I go back home with an smile while I remind what my friend Paqui used to tell before she moved
"There is always a Happy End in NY"

Jaw-dropping views. The Bridge, Manhattan, the water, the green...
Not the best park to go to if you hate children though. Still, if you're a baby-hater you'd be hard pressed not to come across variations of child in any New York park. Nevertheless, this place is definitely where people enjoy displaying their love-making trophies.
It's also where just-out-of-college ladies and gents like to tan.
If it's a Sunday, Jehovah's "WATCHTOWER" Witnesses enjoy taking a light prance after services in their suits and umberellies.
Overall, a delightful mix of old and new residents of Brooklyn.
There isn't that much shade in the park. I definitely recommend taking a blanket to this place and laying on the grass--- try to get under a tree or else you'll be extra crispy on a park bench. SPF 30.
This is one of the perfect places to go if it's a really sweltering day. The East River delivers a refreshing salty breeze that makes for reading outside very comfortable.

One of my favorite places on earth, but preferable on weekdays or late at night. Weekends are overrun with small children and (predominantly Asian) couples taking wedding photos.
I remember when there was nothing back here. And now it's my favoritest place to drink my chocolate from Jacques Torres (or my lemonade from Almondine) and read a book. The beach isn't much of a beach, but where else can you see both bridges, the water, and the entire skyline? Bonus: if you're here at weird hours (sunrise or sunset), the light is really, really interesting.
There is truly no other place like this in the rest of the city. You get the gorgeous view, with an almost "out of the city" quaintness. Even on the warmest day, you can find a way to make this place feel personal.
A great place for a romantic stroll, or to enjoy an ice cream cone. It's totally sublime.
What a sight to behold! No matter if it's snowy, rainy, or sunny, the breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline from this park will never disappoint. Don't forget those SLR's and wide lenses because this is a photo-op you won't want to miss.
I remember coming here for the first time with some friends on a clear summer night a few years ago, and we were all blown away by the spectacular view. From then on, I made it a point to visit each time I visited NYC. One time I went in the winter and light snow started falling and I thought it couldn't have been better timing. The landscape was beautiful.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to make it out there during my last visit, but it seems like the park has really expanded and is continuing to be expanded. A lot more amenities have been added and businesses are popping up. It's going to be a full-fledged pier. It's amazing what can happen to a once-deserted parking lot. But the one thing that will never change is the amazing view.

I absolutely love this park! I love it! Brooklyn Bridge Park sports some of the most gorgeous free views of Manhattan to be found anywhere in the 5 boroughs. It's hardly ever so crowded that you can't find an awesome spot to chill, and have you seen the bathrooms?! Holy crap (no pun intended)! They've got some crazy deluxe flushing porta-potty rooms, complete with a mirrored vanity and a sink with running water! You may think you've died and gone to public restroom fancy-town, but no - you're just at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
In the summertime you can sometimes catch free movies projected on a giant screen right below the bridge. Look to the right and it's the glittering lights of Manhattan - to the left and Watch out Wendy, Jack's coming at you with an axe!
While you're in the area you may as well walk around the corner and hit up Grimaldi's for some of the best pizza you'll ever find, or better yet grab it to go and bring a blanket to the park for a true NY picnic.

Get your lazy butt over there. Perfect little spot for a picnic. Plus... you can see the waterfall exhibit right now. The only problem I have with parks like this is they make me want a dog or a kid so I have more excuses to go there.
Try not to go on a Saturday or Sunday... go on a weekday and stay for the sunset. Plus... they have a tent set up where they are selling wine and beer and fresh watermelon juice. Yum.

I went to Pier 1 a few weeks ago for drinks and a nice view of the waterfalls. It was a beautiful night and the scenery was perfect. There were a bunch of kids running around on a scavenger hunt and parents drinking cocktails. It was lovely.
We ordered a pizza from Grimaldi's and ate it while day turned into night and the Manhattan skyline brightened up.
Get there early in the evening so you can be sure to grab a table if you plan on eating.

Absolutely gorgeous.
But go there at dusk on a weekday when the lights are glistening, NOT Sunday morning when everyone and their grandma are taking wedding pictures out there.

They turned a dirty old parking lot into one of the nicest areas in Brooklyn! Brooklyn Bridge Park is such a great place to hang out and take in the views of both the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge. We walked up to the water on the rocks and took in the views. People just sit and gaze at the city, and enjoy their lunches while chatting about what to do next in this great part of Brooklyn that is DUMBO.

One of my favorite parks yet. It was a bit hard to find at first. But I love how spacious and roomy this place is. Also if you explore around you'd probably find an organic market. Bought a bottle of apple cider from them, it was pretty quenching. I'd recommend this place for picnics, photographers, families and dates.

Yes, yes yes!!!!
This park is AWESOME. It's 'just a park,' but it is just what I was looking for after getting sick of the hustle and bustle of NY.
Its small, right on the water. Just across the Brooklyn bridge. When I went there were sculptures erected on the waters edge. There were only maybe 30 people there!!! So I was alone for a 30 foot radius!!! Most of the time. After a couple of hours, a couple came and sat next to me.
It has WiFi!!! So I took my laptop to blog. I forgot where I was while I was blogging and looked up to see Manhattan. It was startling. The city is so many buildings, and people. It was a cool moment.
This park, for me, was perfect for stepping out of the fast paced NY and relaxing!!! Central park has got that too but when I went to Central Park, it was VERY crowded with people. I got 100 paces into the park before collapsing on a bench to avoid dodging people and strollers, etc. Maybe if I venture in further I would find a nice quiet spot!

We took our wedding photos here with our bridal party. It is really a gorgeous park with awesome views of both the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges. There are just so many scenic spots to take pics, from the pebbly beach area, to the dark boulders by the water, to the grassy areas right under the bridge. There is also a nice, windy path with nicely landscaped greenery that leads outside the park where cobblestone streets embedded with the old railroad tracks greet you. The best part? It is completely free to take pictures here but if you cross over to the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, there is a fee.
I imagine this would also be a nice place to just relax, but since I no longer live in my beloved Brooklyn, it's just too far to go to.

the unlucky family comes here often to enjoy the beautiful views and to picnic on a lazy summer day. we used to have to climb over or squeeze through a daunting chain link fence to pursue one of our favorite family activities- artifact hunting. the other option was to be yelled at by the park ranger. fortunately they opened up the forbidden area so that we can forage without being scolded or resorting to illicit behavior. now the beach is open and at low tide the flotsam and jetsam divulges such treasures as river glass, wonderful shards of old pottery and bits of china, mr. unlucky collects old bricks and cobblestone and the middle unlucky child has natural propensity for finding religious artifacts. (thus far one lovely female mysterious smiling bhudda, one crucifix, and a hindu artifact.)
for those who have young uns, the playground is rather nice. there is a nice gentle pastoral area with picnic tables and something that never ceases to amaze me : clean available bathrooms!

Nestled between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges in the DUMBO area of Brooklyn, this park is a great place to relax, chill, and enjoy the lower Manhattan skyline from across the East River. It's also a great place to do some photography, for which I forgot my camera, so I'll be sure to visit again soon to take some photos.
Of course, if you're the romantic type like I am, having that special someone with you is certainly the best way to enjoy a place so scenic and beautiful, whether you're sitting on one of the many benches that line the edge of the river or laying on a blanket on the grassy area in the center. Also, I can only imagine how beautiful the view is when the Manhattan skyline is all lit up.
To get there by mass transit, take the F train to York, walk south to Plymouth Street and within a few short minutes you'll stumble upon one of the entrances to the park. Make an afternoon of it and enjoy one of the many restaurants within walking distance to the heart of DUMBO.

Not the easiest to get to if you don't have a car. But, well worth the trip.
Still remains a great little spot to relax in the sun and enjoy awesome view of Manhattan. Last time I was there, has started to get crowded but that is inevitable. If you don't want a crowd, avoid the weekends for sure.
And, just a stroll over is the Empire Fulton park...which has more space to lay out.
Brooklyn Bridge Park has the better photo op though.
last night was my first excursion to brooklyn bridge park and it was delightful. they show movies on thursday nights during the summer, and the backdrop of the lit-up brooklyn bridge is nothing short of breathtaking. i probably wouldn't go this park specifically for just hanging out and doing park activities, but that's only because i live so close to prospect park and there's little reason to go farther away. but for an outdoor movie, or a stroll before dinner at grimaldi's? i will definitely be back!
p.s.: the map on their website that "shows" you how to get to the park from the subway station is not nearly detailed enough (it looks like two streets are consecutive when in fact there are several streets between them.) i recommend looking up directions on a more thorough map.

great park to chill. its a real transitory state to be in a park in NY because you're in a somewhat forced "natural" setting within a concrete jungle. this place is comforting - nestled south of the Navy yard between the Williamsburg and Brooklyn Bridges. If you walk across the BK bridge, you'll see patches of green just below it on the left side by the water. After reaching the end of the BK bridge, walk down the steps and bust a hard left..continue until you reach the waterfront.
nice spot to get some panoramic views of lower manhattan...get a photo-op here too while you're at it. and just like in any other park in NY..clean up after your dog or pay a fine. their playground for kids look like fun.

the coolest thing about this park is the rocks that line the river, you can take a step in the water- you look up and see the bridge above you- and behind you is a huge vacant building with awesome markings.

My new favorite thing to do in the summer is go down to this park (or any borough park on the water across from Manhattan) and watching the sunset. This park is great for doing that because not only does it have a great view of the lower Manhattan skyline, but also the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. It's pleasant and grassy here... the only complaint that I have is the same complaint that I have about DUMBO in general... too noisy - very difficult to have a conversation underneath the BQE, the elevated train, and 2 bridges. But it's a picturesque place to go and have a picnic, and if the noise bothers you - bring earplugs!
