A beautiful park that is definitely worth checking out. The choice of shrubbery reminds me of the Highline, but the views are of the Manhattan skyline which is gorgeous from any angle.
I dropped by on a chilly Tuesday evening and it was pretty empty. This is a great place to hang out with friends, have a chat and revel in being in New York! -
Review from Tonya C.
I snapped some pictures here for the first time trying to find Girmaldi's Pizza. It's a good location to take some great shots of the Brooklyn Bridge and the NYC skyline. Unfortunately the bridge is all bandaged up for renovations now, but if it wasn't the pictures would be awesome.
There's a few food spots right there, including the aforementioned infamous Girmaldi's Pizza, which had a line out the door; therefore I still haven't tried.
It was slightly chilly outside when I was there, but I imagine it would be a really cool spot to just sit and take it in on a nice spring or summer day. -
Review from Kenny C.
Beautiful park, and one of the places you must go to in Brooklyn. You're guaranteed to love it unless:
-you're bitter and hate couples taking wedding photos in front of you because you're forever alone
-watching kids and adults have fun on a carousel brings back traumatic memories of that time you got lost at the mall like in that one Party of Five episode
-you don't like watching the sun set over Manhattan because it makes you think about your mortality and all the time you've wasted on earth so far
-you're scared of semi-professional photographers with tripods because it reminds you of War of the Worlds
And if you hate it now, just wait until they finish expanding it to the Port Authority Piers! -

Review from Derek B.
One of my favorite views of the city and a nice park to walk around or just hang out. There are always tons of people here with cameras set up on tripods taking pictures of the city, especially at night. We've done this as well and since everyone there is taking pictures they are usually aware enough to not knock your camera over or walk in front of your pictures. We came here on 9/11 2009 and 2010 to see and take pictures of the tribute lights...Definitely one of the best places to do this. I only wish this park wasn't so far from my house.

Amazingly beautiful and perfectly tucked into a secluded neighborhood called Dumbo! I have never been to such a ridiculously clean and almost perfectly manicured place. I am kind of upset that it took me this long to find it! From here, you can get incredible views of Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan Bridge, and the Williamsburg. I am anxious to see the lawn in the summer time, because now they have it closed off. Wow.
If you haven't been, please do make your way Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.
This is a perfect family spot, so do bring the kids. Or your spouse that acts like one! -

Lookin' good Brooklyn!
More greenery and space now to sit and enjoy the Manhattan skyline. -

Bowling Green, OH
Every time I go to NYC, I end up either staying in DUMBO or getting there to spend some quality time there. And when I do, this park is a destination, or at least something I see and am reminded of (as the place I stay in overlooks it from the adjacent building).
This is a very cute and well-kept park, with an enclosed pet area, grassy spaces and a few benches for sitting, a long stretch of rocks right on the water, and possibly the best view. You see the Brooklyn Bridge up close, the Manhattan Bridge a ways off, and an amazing snapshot of the Manhattan skyline. It's an amazing view at night, but be mindful of the park hours.
When I've swung through I've seen a few small art installations, which just adds to the park's character. The only drawback is that there is the occasional bum or shady character that throws off the vibe, but it's really no worry. I've seen security on standby, as well.
If you're going to Brooklyn, stop at this park and definitely explore DUMBO, too! -
Review from Anya R.
Beautiful recently renovated park. You get a wonderful view of the Brooklyn Bridge- I anticipate a lot of people take their engagement photos here.
A short walk off of the Brooklyn Bridge or a subway exit in DUMBO.
They are currently working on building a carousel here for kiddies (and adults) to enjoy.
What they have:
- Lots of clean benches and tables for you to enjoy people watching or eating
- Next to DUMBo where you can enjoy food, art, shops, etc
- A playground for kiddies
- Dog Friendly (on a leash)
- Lots of grass areas for a picnic or throwing a football or sunbathing
- A water station to refill your water bottles
I loved the park and could spend hours here.Listed in: Big Apple- NYC for 4 days/3…

This place is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. Had we known this place existed BEFORE we went to Grimaldi's, we would've ordered our pizzas to-go and had them here.
We went around 10 at night. The night sky was gorgeous and the weather was perfect. And the view of the Manhattan skyline was a 100 times better here than what we saw from top of the rock. And you have a very nice view of the brooklyn bridge.
I hear the view is great during the day too, but if you want a quiet, romantic view of NYC, I suggest coming here. -

New York, NY
It's beautiful and clean with an amazing view. This place gets better and better with each visit.
Why I come here over and over again:
1. Great and well-lit running paths along the water with tremendous views of both good-looking runners and the city.
2. Free movies in the summer. Watching the unedited version of Ghostbusters with the backdrop of the NYC skyline was a summer highlight. Toss a blanket down on the lawn, bring snacks and enjoy the outdoors with some friends while laughing along to classic movies.
3. Kayaking! Free and new this summer.
4. Really yummy ice cream at Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. Grab a cone or two and enjoy the view. There's tons of places to sit.. benches, tables, lawns.
5. Super close to Grimaldi's.
6. Brooklyn Bridge? Duh. Walk on over and back!
7. The huge stairs... It's like the BK version of Rome's Spanish steps. Sit down awhile and enjoy the view.
8. Tons of romantic little spots to sit and picnic... or (secretly) wine and dine your significant other.
The only downside: Technically, NO kite-flying allowed in the possibly the windiest park in NYC. But, hey I've done it, gotten in trouble and done it again. -

This park makes me want to live in Brooklyn.
It is all around wonderful with the most amazing city views.
The promenade is great.. I love to walk forever and wind up at Brooklyn Ice Cream factory.
A must see if you're visiting NYC - walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and end up here. -

Great park! And free kayaking! Hello!
I volunteered today for the kayaking.
Pros:
1) Get a tan
2) Meet cute girls*
3) Get a little workout in whilst setting up or closing up shop
4) Meet cute girls**
5) Go kayaking when no one is in line for single kayaks!
Cons:
1) N/A
*Assist aforementioned girls with donning their life jackets.
**Provide assurance to the scared that they won't tip over and you'd save them if they did.

When I walk around this park, I hear this song on loop: http://www.youtube.com...
It's not just because I'm slightly crazy, and I hear voices in my head. Rather, it's because I used to be cruel to my woman; I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved.
And also, I suppose, it's because Brooklyn Bridge Park is getting better all the time.
Of course, you [should] know that it has the absolute best vantage point for both bridges and Skyscraper National Park (AKA Manhattan). But slowly and surely, the park itself is blossoming to match the view. The long-awaited development actually happening, and you can see it with each visit.
Already, you can hit up the dog run; take a kid to the best playground ever; eat delicious Ditch Plains lobster rolls, amazing Blue Marble ice cream, tasty Bark hot dogs, Milk Truck grilled cheeses and Calexico burritos; play regulation beach volleyball; enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the sunset; lie on the lush, green grass everywhere; take obnoxious engagement photos; use CLEAN public restrooms; watch movies under the bridge; take part in dance parties (Celebrate Brooklyn); enjoy the breeze by the water as you stroll over a mile of shoreline, stopping periodically to rest at the wondrously plentiful benches, tables and more.
But we only have two of the six piers completed so far. Still to come: three acres of recreational space, a picnic peninsula with a BBQ area and more concession stands, enhancement of the wildlife preserve and much, much more.
I'm not sure if it'll ever supplant Prospect as my favorite park; but even without the view, the 85 acres of fun on the Brooklyn waterfront is already one of the best there is, and getting better all the time. -

Brooklyn, NY
Prrrrrrrrobably one of the most beautiful places I've been to.
It's amazing to me that I can just walk down the street and enjoy one of the most beautiful sights the urban United States. The other evening I bumbled over to Brooklyn Bridge Park, only to find the orange-pink sun setting brilliantly into some blue-purple clouds over the Empire State Building, the dimly twinkling Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges buttressing my view. There is plenty of green space here and plenty of benches, and every stereotypical New York thing ever is happening - a fashion shoot, lovahs making out on benches, some bros not-covertly smoking weed, bike messangers galore, etc etc.
If you want to take some good pictures or have a romantic (or lascivious) evening, this is definitely the A-number-one spot. I plan on coming back here ASAP with a friend or two, for sure. I'm guessing it's even more beautiful in the fall. :) -

For those of us that flat-out REFUSE to leave Brooklyn to look at the city skyline, you can retreat here!
This park really seems to be the best recreational secret! My company and I got to just invade the park one Friday afternoon and had a marvelous time! Freshly cut grass, dogs running wild, and a man in a neon yellow string banana hammock - keep it classy Brooklyn!
Enjoy playing volleyball while little kids try to run after a butterfly and leave after you've realized you're sunburned and the city lights are blazing...or not, and just say to yourself, "there's no place like home." -

I love this park. I love that you can walk along the river, grab some food or a glass of wine/beer, or sit on the lawn. What makes the food and drink even better ... clean bathrooms!
It gives some awesome views of Manhattan, as well as, the Brooklyn Bridge. It has yet to become crowded. They are still developing parts of the Park and I can't wait to see what is coming next!
However, I hope on my next visit that I miss the large man tanning in a thong ... no one wants to see that. Still 5 stars, its not Brooklyn's fault people don't know how to dress properly. -

Gorgeous park! You can catch amazing views of Manhattan from here and a movie while you are at it.
They have free movies every Thursday in the summer. It's call Movie with A View because you literally have a gorgeous NYC backdrop. They have a DJ at 6pm until the movie begins at sunset. There is also a bike valet for bike riders (how sweet is that?!)
I went a year ago to watch West Side Story. It was a beautiful night.

Brooklyn, NY
I've lived in BK almost a year now, but until today only flirted with the edges of this development. And by flirted I don't mean I tried to grab a quick feel. More like I walked by its fringes while doing other stuff, not indifferent to its existence, but focused on other things.
Being a newbie, I sometimes find myself not checking something out because I want to wait for an opportunity to really check something out. To saunter, meander, spend some meaningful time in a city where we rush.
So today I blocked some time to take advantage of a free weekend kayak deal they run at the park. And to be honest, I was focused on the opportunity to paddle on the E. River, never thinking of the park. But I arrived an hour before the kayaking folks were ready, so in a way I was forced to saunter, meander and spend some time in the surroundings. And this turned out to be a magnificent inconvenience.
Firstly it's a magical location, with views of Manhattan, the Brooklyn waterfront, the bridges (notably led by the amazing BK bridge), Gov. Island, and Lady Liberty. If you stop and think, it's the same vantage point that was probably shared by Native Americans, Dutch settlers, colonists and centuries of new immigrants, not to mention G. Washington who escaped the continental army from this very shore, in order to fight the British another day.
Secondly it's a great place to watch the modern city. While we're no longer the hub of exports, this is still a nexus of maritime commerce and the waterways and airspace are buzzing with activity.
Thirdly, this is a beautiful park - no matter the location. You can plop this into the middle of Phoenix or Fargo and it's a fantastically designed space. It caters to joggers, walkers and bikers. To the park bench sitters who want a flat, wide open, gravel spot. Or to the sun bather who wants an open, flowing grassy knoll. Or the hiker who wants to climb vertically and get swallowed by plants. It's part urban, part suburban, but in spots is well manicured naturalism.
It's quite different from Central or Prospect Park. Much, much smaller. But I can't think of another park that injects so much diversity within its space. Ponds, a wine cafe, native shrubs, water taxi. You can go there and chill all day, or go there and have lunch nearby before propelling across the river for a sale on pants. Which I think Washington did. -

Brooklyn, NY
A good city park has a tough task. It has to somehow separate you from the city, but still make you feel like a part of it. What better way to do so than to make the park face the skyline?
This park has been getting better and better. There's an assortment of places to grab a drink or a quick bite. There's a nice trail to walk, or run, or bike...whatever tickles your fancy.
If you feel like a nice scenic walk, take the entire stretch from the Brooklyn Bridge end and walk over to Pier 6 where you'll find several segmented playgrounds (age cap of 12 yrs? Yeaaahright) and some beach volleyball.
You're separated from the traffic enough to feel like you're in a peaceful place, but it's not out of sight, which lets you take it all in from a distance. New York really is breathtaking from the right perspective.
You should stop reading this and go out there. Go on, shoo!Listed in: So, you want to be a tourist?

Quite possibly the best park ever.
Dare I say... better than Central Park? Hmm...
It is super clean here and the best part is the AMAZING views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Not many people seem to know about this park as it was EMPTY on Memorial Day night.
It is parks like this that make me wish SO badly that I could date in New York. Oh the possibilities!
Might I suggest ordering a pizza from the amazingggg Grimaldis a block away and sitting on the floor of the dock admiring the view?
Its also pretty fun that the street vendors play pop music!
Its a truly memorable night when you hear Black Eyed Peas - I Got a Feeling while the twinkling lights bounce off Hudson river!Listed in: Parks & Recreation

This park is a bit too small to really get five stars, I mean you can go in a circle of about 100 feet and you're done!
Still the view of the city is just spectacular. I also like how along one side there are large stone steps to sit on. Whiling away the time until my DUMBO meetup, I sat there playing with my phone, surfing the web, and enjoying the frolicking couples, babies, and people walking their dogs.
A nice respite from a long day! -

You just can't beat this place for the view of Manhattan and the endless free programs in the summer/early fall. I live in the area and it's a great place to take visitors, to go jogging, or just to sit and read on the lawns (when they're not reseeding). I love how it's laid out with curving paths that give the illusion of more greenspace, a welcome attribute for those of us who tend to get a little grid-crazy after spending a lot of time in the city.

Hands down, this is my favorite NYC park. I don't think the perfect date would be complete without a visit here.
The park isn't fully finished yet, but the pier's that they do have are beautiful. It's well maintained and there are plenty of cute benches for relaxing, reading, or spending time with friends or a significant other. It reminds me of Hudson River park except instead of a view of New Jersey, you get a view of the city. The park is kept impeccably clean, which is always important. It is well lit and there are many private areas for people who want to spend some quality time.
They have also have events such as movie in the park & free kayaking. Both of which I have yet to experience.. but definitely plan on it! Grimaldi's and the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory are both also steps away.. Amazing pizza and ice cream.
& of course, you have an amazing view of the Brooklyn Bridge!! There really is no better back drop than the bridge and NYC.. Hence the many photo shoots always going on. I think that this park is both romantic (more so at night) and laid back. While there are plenty of couples, there are also people jogging, biking, and little kids playing.. really picturesque. This is definitely one of the best things about Brooklyn! -
Review from Annie S.
Beautiful spacious, clean park and there seems to be something new every time I go.
The views of Manhattan and the Bridge are fantastic, and while I wouldn't say it's better than Central Park, it does have a lot to offer and is a nice, little haven in BK. -

You know, I really can't front like gentrification is all bad. Some beautiful things certainly come out of it at times, and the beautification of this park is one of them. I went to junior high over near the Farragut Houses, and back in the day, the waterfront was mad sketchy. No joke. I recall we only came down this way if we rolled deep ion a huge posse of people, because shady dealings and characters were here.
Now we got all this luscious space and cool breeze and concerts and art exhibits and just people all hanging out and enjoying the glorious view of everything. I do find that I'm more prone to coming at night,
because you get less traffic and it's really really magical. -

This is far and away my favorite spot in New York City. I don't know how anyone can't fall in love with Brooklyn Bridge Park.
It gives THE best view of the Manhattan skyline. It's clean and I've been lucky that everytime I've gone it hasn't been overly crowded.
I could sit here for hours doing absolutely nothing, just staring into space and enjoy myself. This is a great place to bring a friend, family member, or significant other for a picnic on a nice Spring/Summer day.
They also have great events going on during the summer such as movies. One time I came here and they had opera, Which, much to my delight, my three year old cousin absolutely loved! -

One of Brooklyn's BEST kept secrets. Before I moved to Brooklyn I lived in Astoria. I would in the city everyday for work and there were days where it would be stressful and you just wanna escape. You wanna relax, get some air and get a nice view of the city to clear your mind. This is the place.
I away wondered when I was on the in Manhattan looking out in BK. I always wondered what the hell I was looking at. This was the place. During the summer I normally take the F down to East Broadway and pick up some Chinese food or some meat pastry (there are a lot so it's normally Pork Buns). After swooping up my snack and a drink I head back to the F Train and make my way towards York St. Once out I can already feel the calmness take over.
Dumbo is a great area. If I could afford it I would live there. There are a few galleries and stores along the way before hitting the park. Once there you can find me on the steps down by the water or on a blanket on the grass. Now if you really want some alone time you can make your way down more past the abandoned open space where they have parties and pitch tent near the boardwalk. It's always less crowded there.
This is one of my best kept secrets, but now with the expansion it's no longer a secret.... Hurry up Summer!!!
PS...
You will always see a Chinese couple here taking pics for there wedding album. There isn't a day that i've been here and I haven't seen at least one.Listed in: 5 Star Places... See why!, Visiting NYC!?

It's hard to give this place less than 5 stars.
I walked to this place looking for a restroom but had trouble finding it because their signage sucks. It looks like they're under some construction and the restrooms are in a mobile home.
Because of that, I ended up walking around the whole park and I got a nice view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan. That was a good incentive to make me walk around here quickly!
Come here before (make someone in your group wait) or after Grimaldi's and burn off some calories. Even better yet, phone in your order to Grimaldi's and eat your take out pizza here. -

If you're visiting New York and you're bringing an SLR, this is the best place in Manhattan to take a picture. You get the most beautiful view of the NY Skyline, and if you choose the right angle, you can get the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn bridges in the background. It's a cool place to walk around and great food is just a block away. This is a must see as far as I'm concerned. Check it out after eating at Grimaldi's pizza, then walk the bridge to return back to Manhattan.
