Mmm! Bacon scallion cream cheese on a bagel! BB&CC, it's like you know me!
Not only are your bagels soft, chewy and delicious, you don't mess around with portion size, either. Never in the eighteen years of living in NY have I ever been defeated by a bagel. It was ginormous!

The mini bagels are the perfect size. They're also denser and not as fluffy, which I like. They charge more for their bagels than other places, but I'm guessing the updated, Starbuck's feel of their store doesn't come cheap. I bought a half dozen, and they didn't throw in a free bagel or 2 like other stores do - not unless you buy a dozen.
This statement on their website caught my attention: "We only prepare foods from the freshest and finest ingredients. We use brand names such as Philadelphia & Pillsbury. Being cost efficient is important in every business, but not at the cost of quality. " I'm gonna sound like a snob here, but brand names like Philadelphia and Pillsbury don't equate freshest and finest in the food-conscious world of foodies that we live in today. I can buy Philly at Duane Reade, right? Cream cheese bought direct from a small-scale, quality, dairy farm in upstate New York - now that's got cache that you could get away with charging a premium for.
Best bagels i've had.
Huge! Soft! And they can be smeared in bacon/scallion cream cheese!
They deliver too!
During my last visit, I went to a famed bagel place and upon ordering a toasted bagel I was quickly snubbed with the person behind the counter. "Our bagels are fresh! They don't need to be toasted!" Oo..kay. But here at Brooklyn Bagel, fortunately they are not as snobby. Er.., I mean they don't mind toasting a fresh bagel for you. What can I say, I like my crispy crust.
I got everything bagel with white fish shmear (?). I got the white fish because I thought it might be a specialty of theirs, or something very "New York." That white fish was really good. It sounded like it might be salty like a smoked salmon spread, but it wasn't too salty. It was on the pricey side though. Bagel with white fish is $5.95. Nonetheless, I am a follower of breakfast-as-the-most-important-meal-of-the-day teaching.
The bagel itself is pretty ginormous. As my teeth are in braces, I am still not biting, instead I cut my food into small (okay, smallish to medium..) chunks. One thing I noticed from this practice is that I become more aware of how big of a portion I eat. Gosh that bagel was so big that it felt like it was never going to be finished.
Three and half stars, rounded down to three. Good stuff, but I'm pretty sure it's the type of food I can get anywhere in New York.
Five stars all the way. I actually really don't like their coffee or iced tea but the bagels are amazing.
The lunch menu that we steadily circulate at work and order from is fantastic! The panini sandwiches rock, great prices, generous portions. The daily soup selection is always impressive and I love that you can get a mini bagel or bagel chips with your soup at no extra charge. Very friendly staff, quick delivery!
It's my 'on the way to work' place and living in Tribeca both Zucker's and Murray's on 6th are closer to cab it quickly back and forth and bring some great bagels home on Sunday yet I go to Brooklyn Bagel - huge huge fan here! :)

I came here on a beautiful Saturday morning in search of the perfect bagel. It was crowded, but luckily I was being lazy so my Saturday "morning" was actually 1pm. Nonetheless...this place is a 10-block walk from my apt in HK where bad restaurants seem to go to die. So I was excited to stroll down to BB&C and see what the deal was.
I ordered a salt bagel with low fat scallion cream cheese. It was monstrous! Yes! The staff was super friendly, especially having just come off the Saturday morning rush. I got home, ate my bagel and I was in Heaven. Definitely a superior bagel. Crisp on the outside, doughy on the inside. MMMMMMMMM!
I deducted one star for 2 things:
The salt bagel was overwhelmingly salty. This is bad coming from me because I known for showering my foods in salt. Heart attack at 30 anyone? But its nothing a few scrapes couldn't fix,
They also mixed up my order with the chick behind me and instead of scallion cream cheese, I got plain. But I have to say the plain was pretty good! Just not what I ordered...
This place is my new favorite. I think I'm going to try the lox next time because they looked super fresh.
I am not a big fan of bagel but this place serves delicious bagel. Ordered white fish fillings in the bagel. It was really good. I will come back for more bagel.
Other than that, this cafe is roomy, has WIFI and some nice art decor on the wall. Personally think is a good place if you are on your own and wanna a comfy place to surf internet or read a book.
Every time I'm in NYC for a morning, I HAVE to get an everything bagel with salmon and scallion cream cheese. This time, I wanted to try a bagel place I haven't been to yet.
I showed up first thing in the morning and they weren't even open yet. Had to wait until 6:30 (weekday). The restaurant has a comfy, cafe style atmosphere and friendly staff. I ordered an everything bagel with smoked salmon, scallion cream cheese, onions, and capers. This was one of the messier salmon bagel sandwiches I've had. It was pretty good, but something just wasn't there that I wanted. I wish I could point it out but I can't. The bagel was great, but the sandwich didn't completely hit the spot as others have.

The coffee here is good, not great, but really good. The bagels, however, are spectacular. Service is fast and efficient. The wraps and salads are pretty good too, but I can't get past the bagels. Despite my best intentions, if I'm going inside, I'm coming out with a multigrain mini-bagel with lowfat veggie cream cheese.
Yummers!
Now, I know what they're talking about. New York bagels are really better. These bagels are nice and toasty on the outside, but warm and doughy in the middle. It tastes so good.
The miracle is that when you're done, you don't feel like you have a rock in your belly. These are some good bagels!

A bagel's, a bagel's, a bagel. Right?
Wrong, sucka.
There's something about the bagels in New York that have all of us looking through Lisa Frank tinted glasses upon first bite. And you best believe those rainbows and unicorns are covered in a delicious smear.
Brooklyn Bagel was our first stop after touching down in New York and it certainly did not disappoint. After clarifying (to she who will remain unnamed) that chipotle smear did not, in fact, include "nice meaty chunks," we performed our familiar orchestra of "mmms" and "ahhhhs" in perfect harmony. And shouldn't every eating experience involve Lisa Frank and an Mmmm orchestra?

While it's not the very best everything bagel I've ever had, Brooklyn Bagel makes a mean carb-loop. Glad that they toast it - I would get so irritated with the Murray's down the street when I first moved to NYC and lived in Chelsea. It's not the cheapest breakfast on the block -- whether it's convenient or not Russ & Daughter's charges the same $10 for a bagel with lox & cream cheese and makes BB seem like highway robbery with the quality difference.
But damn, those bagels are big. For some reason I have yet to finish a whole one in a single sitting...and the prize is unwrapping it later when it's all melted together and digging in for the final round. Yum!

In New York when you really know someone, you also know their bagel order; be it a toasted sesame with scallion cream cheese or a pumpernickel with plain cream cheese. You can probably tell a lot about a person if you know how they take their bagel but I still haven't figured out what it says about you if your choice is the everything bagel.
Armed with the bagel proclivities of my compatriots, I went to Brooklyn Bagel yesterday morning to snag some fuel for the train ride to Washington, D.C. As is typical, the order came quick and the guys behind the counter were sweet.
I received a chorus of thank yous as the train pulled away from Penn Station and we tucked in. Foodie tourists likely aren't flocking here on their epicurean tours of New York (and thank goodness, it's crowded enough as it is!) but it's still my favorite bagel in the neighb.

Let's get this out of the way right quick: Brooklyn Bagel totally kicks the butt of nearby Murray's… Read more »
I always thought of myself as being a bagel expert when it came to the holy bready delights but wow am I on another playing field here! From our hotel we walked the 4 blocks to get here and taste their delightful bagles. i had what Laura N described as an "all" bagel which was savory to my surprise. Okay I'm just going to put this out there right now but seriously... how many different types of cream cheese can you have!!!??
A great New York experience in this part of town I'd say. I wish they'd move across the ocean, right by my house so that I could have one for breakfast everyday!

Not a big fan of Seattle's Best Coffee which they serve there, but that's something I definitely got over fast. This is probably the only place I've seen an everything WHEAT bagel. I was very excited. I ordered the original size bagel with lox cream cheese spread.... MMMM perfection!! You can also get a mini bagel... I didn't see the mini size, but I think that's great for all those mornings you want a smaller, fast breakfast. This place was very clean and the employees were very nice and quick to make your order. I'll definitely come back here the next time I'm in NYC
Best bagel shop around in Chelsea and I'm sooo lucky because its right underneath my apt. Unlike Murray's they toast their bagels and its just delicious. I always get a mini whole wheat everything bagel with veggie tofu cream cheese and a fresh squeezed OJ. Yumm so good !
I have to say this place has the best Bagels around. The one thing I miss about living in Chelsea is being walking distance to BB. Not only are their bagels delicious but also they have some amazing homemade cream cheese, love the sundried tomato one. And lets not forget about their kick ass lowfat tuna salad, perfect on an egg bagel. I think I'm making myself hungry. This little shop get crowded around peak breakfast times on the weekend, but thats just a sign of how good their bagels are.
This is my fave place for a quick dash morning bagel. The bagels are really good, the staff is very friendly and always chatty and smiley. The line moves up quickly.
Now if the coffee was good it would've been 5 stars. Have to stop at Starbucks after. avoid the coffee!

Delicious bagels! They're huge and full of tons of cream cheese - seems more like the right size for a dinner dish than a quick lunch.
Also, a bagel with smoked salmon was surprisingly expensive - around $10 each, but still worth it given the great taste.

These are the bagels that Adkin's was afraid of...because they are best damn bagels around! They have so many options from pumpernickle, salt, everything, whole wheat everything, rye, cinnamon raisin, to the plain and a multitude of other--EVEN IN TWO SIZES! They are just down right the best bagel ever and you need to eat one.
Secondly, they have other great additions for the bagels, a plethora of cream cheeses, deli meats, and salads (egg salad, my personal fav) that give patrons so many options to jazz up their bagel.
The salads are made to order, and daily soup selections are delectable as well. They have soup combos where you get a cup of soup + mini bagel or bagel chips for less than $5! What a deal!
Just go there. You won't be disappointed!
**Deal Seeking Diva tip** If you participate in Delta Skymiles frequent flyer program you should sign up for Skymiles dining where you will receive 5 miles/$1 you spend on each of your registered credit/debit cards. This happens to be a participating restaurant, so once you fall in love and keep dining there again and again, you'll see yourself racking up miles fast!
Many other airlines have programs like this as well, I just know that Skymiles which include Delta and Northwest are linked with this establishment. It's super easy to sign up. Just Google "Delta Skymiles Dining"
I live the Atkin's diet. Been doing it for years. However when I cheat, which is rare this is where I do it. What can make a person dedicated to a healthy life style throw it aside, even if only for the moment? Frankly it is the carbo-deliciousness of the BB toasted poppy seed bagel w/ honey walnut cream cheese. This is no puny frozen bagel with a tiny cup of cream cheese which is more annoying than fulfilling. This is a huge bagel with a generous slathering of cream cheese. A bagel that even for a healthy eater can be breakfast and lunch. But why would you want to wait?
The bagels here are oh so yummy, but why do you charge 50 cents more for low-fat veggie cream cheese? That's just outrageous. I could understand if there was more work involved making the cream cheese or if it were filled with special ingredients compared to regular veggie cream cheese, but alas it's the same mixture, just lower fat.
The mini bagels shouldn't be called mini as they are quite large and they come in every flavor. For another 50 cents you can get one the size of your head. I would give you 5 stars, but until you distribute your prices evenly amongst your cream cheese and stop discriminating against those that are *trying* to cut calories, you receive 4 stars. Although, I probably shouldn't be eating bagels in the first place.
***So the owner contacted me to explain the price difference between regular and low-fat cream cheese. It's not his fault, it's the vendors. Now I'm annoyed that the vendor charged him more for light cream cheese over regular. They should cost the same!!****

Mini whole wheat everything with scallion cream cheese will not make you anyone's friend on the elevator ride to the office, but it will make you happy. All in all a recipe for a joyful morning though given its locations in Chelsea & Queens the "Brooklyn" moniker has never made sense to me. Are we using Brooklyn as signifier for "cool" now?
There are 4 things every cafe in the city should have: excellent & consistent food, great service, reasonable prices and free wifi. Brooklyn Bagel nails all 4 of these.
Their soup and 'mini' (not that small) bagel is a great deal. For you health nuts, they have whole wheat everything bagels. Everything is made fresh.
Oh...and the 5th thing every cafe should have: clean bathrooms. check.

Best bagels i've had in NY.
Really good.
Really fast
Best bagels ever.. seriously.. They are enormous, soft on the inside and slightly chewy. They water boil them there.. whatever that means.. it work because they are awesome.
They also have a large selection of spreads and the whole wheat pancakes are pretty decent as well. The rest of the offerings are average but the bagels are easily worth it.
This is what H&H bagels used to taste like... But even better. If I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology I would eat here every morning. It is so close to the school and as cheap as the food in the FIT cafe, oh wait I do go to FIT... I Just found out that they have one of these shops in Long Island City too.. That's where I live.. Cant wait to find it.. They have more then just Bagels here, But I eat a late breakfast and I eat Cheap and Healthy. They also have flavored Cream Cheese's and by the looks of them they are made fresh daily, so happy to find this place.
They do have indoor seating, a friendly staff, and has a new clean feeling to the place. I recommend the whole wheat everything bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese toasted..
Its OK. Its a bagel. It has schmear. They're coffee is pretty decent too & I rather enjoy the salad bar.
Their challah french toast, not so much. I mean, it really isn't anything to write home about which is why I wonder that they advertise it on their sandwich board outside. It also took FOREVER!! Trust me, if you're starving & need to eat like NOW don't bother. Get a bagel. Or eat your arm. It might taste better too. The bland sugar water flavored with "maple crystals" will make it take the same.

Bagels are delicious and the coffee was also really good.
The best bagel I've had so far! I still haven't tried the famous Ess-a-Bagel yet so I don't know if it's the best bagel in NY, but all I can say is that their whole wheat bagel hit the spot. It was tasty and chewy, and slightly sweet, mmmmmm!! Also they have an impressive selection of cream cheese, mamma mia, you'll get confused as to what to choose if you're indecisive like me. Usually people eat bagels for breakfast but I sometimes come here for dinner after work, LOL. Yeah that's how I roll! I'm pretty happy with this bagel but will check out Ess-a-Bagel eventually so that I can compare and judge for myself who's the best.
I don't even like bagels and I love Brooklyn Bagel! I used to live across the street from one of the Astoria locations, and my roomie and I would brave the crowds every Sunday. The Bagels are the perfect combination of chewy and soft, and they are absolutely gigantic! I usually order a "mini-bagel" for myself, which is actually the size of a normal bagel.
The cream cheese is also fantastic (even though I'm not usually a fan of the stuff)--nothing like the pasty stuff you get from a tub. My favorite is the cinnamon walnut--it's especially delicious on a toasted oat raisin bagel!
Also, this place is great for catering. I ordered their mini continental breakfast for 10 people; the bagels were packed beautifully in a basket and the cream cheeses were stacked, cello-wrapped and tied with a ribbon. Everything was ready on time, the breakfast came with plates, napkins, cups, utensils and a carton of orange juice, the crowd devoured it, and I felt it was a very good value for what I paid (both in the presentation and the quality/quantity of food).

We all know Brooklyn is for losers (and posers), so I was surprised to see the Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company smack dab in the middle of my recent stroll up 8th Avenue. "While you are sleeping," says their delivery menu, "we are working heartedly to help make your day more pleasant." Heartedly? Hmmm.
True to their word, they DID make my day more pleasant! A tasty bagel, homemade oatmeal and a coffee. Thanks y'all! Maybe Brooklyn's not such a haven for losers (and posers) after all!

These bagels are the size of a baby's head. Seriously, find a baby, put your Brooklyn bagel up against the kid's noggin-- tell me it's not the same size.
Granted the bagels are soft, yummy and gigantic. I'm a big fan of the marbled rye. Yes, service is good and there's always a light, steady flow of amiable patrons coming through here. But these are not H&H bagels. So 4 stars.
On second thought, 5 stars. Cause of the free wi-fi.

I like them. If I'm leaving out of Penn on a trip to visit friends I usually grab bagels from here as a gift for my hosts. But today I decided to treat myself to a bagel with lox for breakfast, and that rang up at $10.40. Whoa. That's...too much. They usually have a nice selection of cream cheeses, but in my most recent trip they only had two tofu versions: plain and veggie. Can I get a little scallion tofu action up in here?
Take the best of this place and combine it with the best of Murray's Bagels and you have a five star . . . no, make that a six star bagel place.
I walked in here and was pleased that the place was clean and openly laid out. The bagels were sitting nicely in their bins looking nice and fresh. The spreads and lox were displayed nicely in their case and everything else, in general had a pleasing tone about it.
I ordered my customary garlic bagel -- my benchmark if you will -- I was happy to see it was covered in little bitty garlic pieces (unlike down the road at Murray's - read my review), and I was happy to see that they had the ability to toast the bagel (again, unlike down the road -- but to be fair, after tasting it, Murray's did not require toasting). I ordered the bagel with veggie cream cheese and was happy to see how fresh it looked -- along with the lox (although I did not order the lox here). I also noticed that they had a grill in the back of the store which was making up nice looking egg sandwiches -- YUM!
Anyhow . . . I brought the bagel and coffee back to my office, unwrapped it and right away realized that these were not quite as large as the bagels found at Murray's -- although I was pleased to find that the garlic pieces found on these bagels were on BOTH sides of the bagel and they were plentiful on each side -- unlike at Murray's where I found all of six little pieces of garlic on my bagel.
Now . . . I bit into the Brooklyn bagel and found it to be a bit disappointing as compared to Murray's. The bagels here are not nealy as hearty as those found at Murray's -- aside from the fact that they are smaller than Murray's, they did not have the density of a Murray's bagel. The veggie cream cheese here was enjoyable and fresh (as I had observed), and the coffee here is enjoyable -- I believe that they brew up Seattle's Best Coffee (in case anyone was interested).
In all, an enjoyable place, but if I had my way, I would sit the owners of Murray's with the owners of the Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Co. and tell them to work out a merger agreement, incorporating the best of both shops.

As a bagel deprived soul, it was lovely to find Brooklyn Bagels around the corner from my friend's apartment. Regardless of what purveyors of this doughy delight might say, no one can make a bagel like the bakers of New York. After a life time in California, its lovely to stumble upon a place like Brooklyn bagels.
I ordered a selection and brought them back to Boston. What I liked best is that you can order regular or minis. With the every expanding portion sizes across the US, I thought the minis were just fine. The sesame seed bagels are slathered in seeds, as are the poppy seed and garlic.
I look forward to returning and noshing my way through their bins.

This is my first time in New York. When I lived in Vegas we had this place called Manhattan Bagel Company. The lady who worked there re-assured me many times that they were as close to NYC as it could get. Unfortunately, I moved to Southern California and Manhattan Bagel was not a popular chain in San Diego, so I was stuck going to nasty places like Einstein which has the WORST bagels ever.
Well, here I am strolling down chelsea and I see this place, and i think hmm... Guess I better get a bagel before I leave NYC. Sure enough this place lived up to all my expectations of what a perfect bagel should be. So good that I went back again the next day for another bagel.
I love how they have all the beautiful cream cheeses out on display. They almost look like ice cream at first glance. Delicious! Their coffee isn't too bad either.
By the way, I am lowering them 1 star for their ordering system. One guy takes your order and then you migrate down to the register to pay. Well, they lost my order the second time I went in there and the guy at the register didn't speak good English and it was a royal pain trying to re-explain 3 times to him what I ordered, but once I finally got my bagel I was in bagel heaven.
Wonderful bagels! I grew up in NYC and have never gotten used to the crap that passes for bagels in California, though I've lived there for 29 years. Whenever I come to NY to visit my mother, I run, not walk, to this local bagelry for a chewy, hearty pumpernickel bagel with cream cheese and lox. The coffee's good too.
I love this place just based on the fact that it offers "mini" bagels. They are not so mini, more like regular size. The "regular" bagels are huge and sometimes a bit too much for me. But they have most of their bagel flavors in the mini version. I love the oats and raisin bagel. You might think it's sweet, but it's not. It's great. They have a great selection of soups everyday and the soups come with either a mini bagel, bagel chips, or saltines. Getting a medium soup with a mini bagel is a pretty satisfying and cheap lunch.
This place is best for they're bagels, which are quite good, or even egg on a bagel. The omelets however, are not so great as they always come out dry. The inside is new and clean and the staff behind the counter is usually pretty friendly, which makes getting breakfast here nice. I think it's served until later in the day, which is also convenient if you enjoy breakfast foods for lunch.
