Brook Run Dog Park
2 reviews for Brook Run Dog Park
One of the better dog parks in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
This park is great off-leash fun for any dog, regardless of their size. The size alone puts many of the other dog parks in the area to shame, almost three wooded acres. Plenty of benches to sit on, and trails to walk along with your pooch if you want to get some exercise in for yourself as well.
I've met some of the friendliest dog owners here. It's not like the usual dog park scene, where all the owners are clustered by the entrance looking uncomfortable. My puppy has never met a human she didn't like, and she has managed to charm herself into getting many belly rubs here from welcoming strangers.
The bad news: there is no water fountain. I know, it seems strange. The park is maintained by volunteers though, and all they ask in exchange for you using their park is that you bring a jug of water with you for everyone to share. And NO FOOD. You don't bring food in the dog park. NO human food. NO dog treats. It starts a ruckus! Do you want to be the one starting a doggy riot?!?
I've been to a few of Atlanta's off-leash dog parks, and so far this is the best. It's wooded, has seating scattered throughout the park, and the owners actually pay attention to their dogs.
If you go, please bring a jug of water with you. There is no water fountain onsite. Also, plan to wear some bug spray! Because of the large trees, the canopy can trap the moisture in the park, which is a blessing for biting critters, not so much for the humans. The dogs don't seem to mind, though!
