9 reviews for Brook Avenue Grill & Gelato
Visiting Tahoe for the weekend, we stumbled onto the locals' July 3rd Fireworks at Kings Beach. To get a jump on traffic and parking, we arrived early and wandered around for a place to kill an hour or two and grab some food.
Brook Avenue Grill is a great little find. We tried the Teriyaki/Pineapple Chicken burger and a Portobello burger (both just under $10). With fries and a couple of bottled beers, we grabbed a table on the sidewalk and watched the town come alive. Everyone seemed happy: from tourist families with three kids to the local Highway Patrolman who got a milkshake then sat outside and talked to the townsfolk.
[Note: I love that I have a reason to use the word "townsfolk".]
In any case, Brook Avenue Grill offers great-tasting food at decent prices. My only regret is that we didn't grab a dessert before we headed across the street to watch the fireworks. Next time!
This is the place to enjoy warm weather, and sidewalk dining. For breakfast the mango crepes are delicious, paired with strong organic drip coffee. During lunch you must try the veggieburger, which comes with perrperj ack cheese and housemade sundried tomato pesto. If you have a group try sharing some of the hand dipped zucchinis, with a round of Stella's.
Loved this place. We were going to go to the burger place across the street but honestly - they are just way too stoned over there. I wanted something different anyway and I like to try new places. Brooke Avenue is clean with indoor and outdoor seating. The service is very friendly as well. I ordered the blackened ahi tune sandwich which was delish! My husband ordered a burger which was a fair sized burger with all the fixins. The food was fresh and well seasoned, not greasy at all. It's across the street from the beach so we finished off with gelato which was yummy but really pricey. I would definitely come back. It's a bit more expensive then your standard burger and sandwich place but quality wise it's better then most.
Right across the street from King's Beach so a great location. Burgers run about $10 each. We sat outside on a warm summer day; altogether, a pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly (seat yourself though)! The gelato is a great bonus too!
came here after chillin at Kings Beach.
ordered a fish fillet, fish and chips, a lemonade, some smoothies, and a grilled cheese sandwich.
what we ordered was pretty good and the french fries were pretty good. the prices were a little pricey but it was right across the street from the beach so i guess that is expected. the smoothies were very pricey though at about $6-7 each.
What an adorable little mom n' pop restaurant, right across from the beach. They charge a little more than you'd expect, but the food is quality & delicious. I ate here twice. Both times, I got the vegetarian sandwich & salad ($9.25), which had avocado, sprouts, red onion, cucumber, sundried tomato pesto (hold the cream cheese). I also tried the grilled portabello mushroom sandwich (on an onion roll), which was tasty, but I wish I had said "hold the feta." The french fries are scrumptious!
I appreciate that they give you compostable utensils instead of plastic forks. I noticed on the breakfast menu they serve ginger nutmeg pancakes, and that's all I can think about now.
Needing to kill some time before dinner plans on a Sunday, I waltzed my way in here because most places in Brockway are closed pretty darn early those nights. Got myself a large chai anda taste of the key lime gelato. Most excellent. The also serve breakfast, sandwiches and burgers. Got to talking with the owner about how she just opened up the shop and how Brockway is going to go through some modern renovations.Friendly people, good beverages/desserts and cool little space.
Best burgers in Tahoe. Have excellent fish tacos, burgers and other grill type food. Service is nice and friendly - definitely a great place for breakfast or lunch when you're enjoying Lake Tahoe! Try the fried egg sandwich - so good! Also, breakfast burritos & espresso. The Gelato is from Ciao Bella in SF. The Espresso Shakes are a real treat.
What assholes! Went in fifteen minutes before lunch, asked for a simple lunch, the place was empty. Cook was a drama king, apparently they have no control over him and at first he turned his back and wouldn't even answer her. He refused and even though the place was empty, starting lunch that early sent him over the edge, he proceeded to have a little meltdown. I wish I could give no stars! I have had friends tell me of similar experiences. I so wanted Joannies old tacos but oh well.
