The best Stand up tanning around.
This place is clean and the staff is ALWAYS friendly. -
Review from Andrea L.
I like BronzRepulic because all the beds are standing beds. Prices are pretty reasonable- and they offer several packages and levels to chose from. I keep sessions here always, even though I do not tan regularly. Just for special occasions or when I look crazy white/ frog belly green which actually happens around mid winter. They have a very clean facility, friendly staff, and good music. Bring your own protective eye-wear.
BronzRepublic is super convenient. Its in the same shopping center as a good nail salon and my favorite threading spot. Basically, you could show up with beastly eyebrows, unpolished fingers and toes and have pasty skin, but leave the shopping center looking fly. Trust me- I've done it.
Tips:
I never tan in a level one bed at any tanning place- the bulbs in those beds are worse for your skin.
I put SPF 30 on my chest and neck. No need to have a wrinkly chest and neck which develops over time with sun damage.
I NEVER tan my face. I use SPF 50 daily and cover my face with a dark towel when I'm in the booth. Remember- the sun is not our friend, much less the human microwave like coffin that is the tanning booth. Just saying.
I use an anti-aging Boutique Collection indoor bronzing lotion that makes the tan deeper and last longer while hydrating and protecting my skin.Listed in: Love Long Beach, Be Beautiful!

My first tanning experience.....at Hollywood Tans in Lakewood. Why did I go? Just for the experience, seriously. Mystic tans were popular a few years back, but I never jumped on the bandwagon. Now that I have more time, I thought it would be fun for us to check out this place.
Hollywood Tans is new, large and spacious. It's in the Vons shopping center off Carson and Woodruff. Can't miss the red lettering against the cream colored stucco. The girls at the front counter immediately ask for your name since there's a "membership" going on, which apparently most people sign up for. If you're a newbie like me, then they take your driver's license, make you sign a waiver and quickly explain to you what you have to do.
My friend and I wanted the Mystic Tan. We were told there was no student discount. It cost $22 for the regular cartridge, then $24 for the "premium" cartridge which is supposed to last 2 days longer. We didn't get to pick our color, but apparently the clear cartridge is better for fair-skinned types. We were told that our tans would be 2-3 shades darker than our skin tone already. And it would be a rather simple process, in which the machine would guide us how to use the tanning booth in an electronic voice.
So you put your cartridge into the upright tanning booth. Then you undress, press the green start button, lock the door and walk in. There are 4 labelled places to put your feet. Don't be an idiot and keep waving your hand over the green light sensor like I did. This will only confuse the machine and the automated female voice will stop and start again and again. The machine will not start if you wave your hand over the sensor like this. I actually had to get dressed again, run outside and ask for help. How humiliating (and yet amusing at the same time)!
So I got back in there, put my shower cap on, and slightly touched the green sensor light. The automated voice tells you to put your feet on 1 & 3 positions on the floor, and that you only have 3 seconds to do so. This is not the time to panic like I did, but since you only have 3 seconds you have to be quick. Stand still, hold your breath, and feel the cold nasty-smelling Mystic Tan color get sprayed on you. Then the voice comes back on and you keep turning to the right x 4 times.
Mind you this is all happening in a tiny little shower-like booth, so you're basically inhaling Mystic Tan up your nose. Yuck. It smells pretty bad. Afterwards you're supposed to wait and "dry" for a few minutes while the "color" dries. Then you exit the tanning booth one hot, sweaty, smelly mess.
Cons about Hollywood Tans?
Only 1 Mystic Tan booth
No student discouts for the mystic tans
You don't end up 2-3 shades darker than your original skin tone
Your skin tone still ends up uneven.
You may turn orange
Your plantar part of your feet definitely turn orange!
If you get a UV tan, you may look "crunchy" when u exit. (And you may get skin cancer in a few years.)
Pros?
Clean, spacious
Relatively affordable
Lots of UV tanning booths available
No wait
Overall, definitely an experience. Fun to do with your friends if you've never done it before. I don't recommend doing it right before a big event unless you've done it before and it's worked out for you. I turned out just slightly darker and definitely a bit orangey. It was fun though, and I"m glad I went. -

I had been looking for a local place to get a good tan.
Spacious tanning booths with different options on intensity. Dressing room dually attached to the stand up tanning booth. They have XM blasting in each booth so you won't get bored at all. I've noticed that they usually play alternative. They offer clean towels and water to steer away from dehydration. They offer monthly memberships, one I chose and require an infra-red fingerprint scan to determine you are the membership holder. (I think this is kinda neat)
For an even, glazed tan I recommend Hollywood Tans. Great moderate price for quick sessions. -

I came here for my FIRST SPRAY tan. I was really worried that I would look like an oompa loompa. I've nevergotten a spray tan before and was super worried, but I wanted some quick color for an upcoming Vegas trip. I LOVED it. It gave just a bit of an orange tint but not too drastic. It was a nice summer looking tan. Only down fall was that my palms were incredibly orange..how? I don't know how, but i'm sure next time I can manage to find out how I can avoid the orange palms by asking. Other than the orange palms I truly enjoyed my experience there and will def be back for another quick spray tan.

I went in for a custom spray tan, and Vicktoria was the tech. She made the experience and atmosphere splendid. She is super down to earth. And you can tell she loves her job! She did a fantastic job, to say the least. She knows her contours and is beyond considerate of what color you are looking for. Looking for your next spray tan, or never got one and you are a lil scare? Don't look any further, trust me! and call BronzRepublic and make an appointment with Vicktoria. This is "As good as it gets" much love my fellow yelpers. - Natlaia b.

This tanning Solon is the BEST. I have been to many tanning Solon's and by far this is the very best one. The girls there are SOOO nice and helpful. They are very resourceful when it comes to how safe the tanning is, what level you need, what happens if you forget your eye wear( I forgot mine once and saw some pretty horrific pictures of eyes). If you are looking for a good tanning Solon go here!!!
