Holy smokes, the eggnog was perfect! I used Wild Turkey 101 and fresh ground nutmeg. I'm glad I bought 3 quarts!
I'll save the chocolate milk for the kids...maybe!1 Previous Review: Show all »

This is sort of in response to Edmundo below:
I'm also concerned about those issues and wanted to share some info: Broguiere's is Oregon Tilth Certified Organic -- which isn't the same as FDA organic because it's actually an even higher standard! FDA "organic" standards are actually a watered down compromise of true organic farming. But federal law states that if a business does not have FDA organic certification, they can't legally state that they're "organic." That's why they told you they weren't. However, Oregon Tilth is one of the oldest organic organizations in the country and provides a true "organic" certification -- unlike the compromise designed to satisfy big ag that was adopted by the FDA.
So, many businesses that aspire to a true organic standard have decided to forgo FDA certification and have themselves certified by well-established and trusted groups like Oregon Tilth: http://www.greenpeople...
As for the BPA -- Broguiere's Dairy is probably not familiar with it because they use glass only and there is no such thing as BPA in glass. Glass can only be made from sand, limestone and soda ash, and does not leach into foods or liquids. It is chemically inert and will not change during microwaving.
So, here's to our good health and fabulous organic Broguiere's milk in beautiful clean safe glass bottles!! -

You'd think they would have had the eggnog ready when they open the day before Christmas eve. There are two reasons I go at 7am when I get off work; shorter lines and product availability.
Fail on the product availability "Bro's".
I'm a very loyal and vocal fan of Broguiere's but how would you like it if I told you to come back an hour and a half later?
I'll be back again Christmas eve, better not disappoint again. -

Very dissapointed, I called and directly spoke with the owner.
I asked if the milk was organic and to my dismay he said "no its not".
I then asked if the glass bottle contained any BPA or toxic chemicals and he didn't even know what BPA was.
I like his idea of bringing back old fashioned milk in a glass, but my suggestion he needs to bring back the quality. I might as well purchase the milk from my big chain supermarkets/vendors that put profit over safety/quality.
Thanks but no thanks. -

Very good milk, I don't know what it is but this milk has a better taste than your average grocery store milk.

Same as everyone before and after, THis place has THEE BEST CHOCOLATE milk, and their EGG NOG, well you try and judge for yourself, Im sure you will not be dissapointed!!!! Wish they sold it year long. Wondering why no 5 star? The ONLY downfall is they DO NOT TAKE ATM/CREDIT cards. But they take EBT Debt. ?!?!? CASH or CHECK only, unless you dont have a job and live on Gov't assistance. Go figure! Im heading there today to pick up my 6 pack for Thanksgiving, then bringing back my empty's to fill up for Christmas!
TIP: TRY USING THe egg nog for French toast over the holiday! DELISH~!!!!!! -

We have to buy more than one bottle of their chocolate milk since it doesn't make it home (we'll finish it on the way home).
The glass bottles are nice and the ever changing designs on them are even better. -
Review from Tepring P.
Fountain Valley, CA
So good. They have nice fresh milk that comes in glass bottles. They take back those glass bottles for more cash that we use to buy more milk. But the farm is so far away that we only do this around the holidays. So I end up storing bottles since we get more back there than Whole Foods (so my bf tells me, possibly so he can go back)
The reason for the 4*s and not 5 is because I don't like their chocolate milk. I don't know why but it is really not worth drinking to me. BUT their eggnog is worth the drive during the holiday season! -
Review from Mimi C.
hubby got me an early xmas gift!!! :)
yes. i love milk and being an avid bottle lover and all things vintage -- this was a hit with me. milk comes in a glass bottle and is refillable. ah a man after my heart.
taste test -- it tastes the same as organic fat free milk. i can't tell if the milk they sell is organic (varied reviews) .. but it definitely has the same smooth, subtle richness that you find in organic milk.
the milk doesn't come from cows on the farm. it comes raw from san jacinto farms and is processed at broguiere's. they sell to specialty grocery stores (apparently they have organic milk sold to whole foods -- according to la times).
i'll have to stop by for a refill. :)
** just found out there's a dairy farm out in norwalk that does milk their own cows... :) -

What can I say that hasn't been said a hundred times. The milk is nice, thick and creamy deliciousness. The chocolate milk is so yummy and has the perfect amount of chocolate and sweetness. Their eggnog is also pretty delish...
I love the glass bottles although i noticed they have regular plastic gallons of milk as well. The service was quick, i was in and out in no time.
Cash Only... -

I lived in Whittier California (city adjacent to Montebello) for many years and had the oportunity to purchased several times,
milk, eggnog and chocolate milk from the Broguiere dairy farm company, I no longer live nearby, but I 'll will make sure to stop by in my future visits to the area and buy your delicious products...Thank you Mr Broguiere for continuing with your legacy and traditional family business..... -

Although I don't see live cows from where I stand from their counter, I love the milk. Their raved chocolate milk is as good as it gets y'know? It's not watery but a creamy and thick texture. Since the milk is fresh, drink it within a week and a half!
I have yet to try their also famous and seasonal eggnog.... I should also go buy some cream to make delicious desserts! -

In response to Edmundo's BPA and Organic concerns. I think the Organic issue has already been addressed and so has the BPA one. But in regards to the assumption that Broguierre has brought back the glass bottle is untrue. Fact is, they had no need to bring anything back. BECAUSE THEY NEVER STOPPED USING GLASS BOTTLES!

I bought some eggnog from the grocerie store for our family gathering on Thanksgiving. Mind you, I have never tried eggnog in my life. I know, I know, I've been living under a rock. So when my sister-in-law saw the carton she mentioned that we should try the eggnog from Broguiere's. Fast forward...she had me try some one day when we went over to visit and...WOW! what a difference! Especially when my brother-in-law spiked it for me. lol The next day we went there and got us some eggnog, milk, and eggs. I will no longer buy those anywhere else but at Broguiere's. Thanks sis for guiding me to the light!

Broguiere's has the BEST chocolate milk ive ever had. And don't even get me STARTED on how good the egg nog is! Its a tradition in my family that we always buy two bottles of their famous egg nog as soon as it is in season. I can't wait till the holidays! Oh, and don't forget to save their signature glass bottles to take back to them. They recycle, and give you a discount if you bring em back.

No holiday season is complete without Broguiere's BESTEST EVER Egg Nog. Since buying my first bottle in a local supermarket more than 10 years ago, I can't imagine a November or December without the addictive elxir. Since finding their popular nog on store shelves can be frustrating and time consuming, these last few years I've cut out the middleman and headed with my empty bottles straight to the source in Montebello to get my seasonal fix. But do yourself a favor (and spare me reading any more one- and two-star complaints about the dairy being out when you went): CALL first to make sure.

Just discovered their milk at Ralph's in Stevenson Ranch- bought it because I only needed a quart and thought the glass bottle was cute. I tasted it and oh my goodness I never thought I would say Milk is D-Lish...but I did. Then I got curious so I yelped Broguiere's and based on other yelp's I will be buying the eggnog when I am back to the store next week! Can't wait to give another 5 stars for them as I LOVE me some Egg Nog and the cute glass bottles!

Dude, can't beat their milk... i drive 20 miles every other week to stock my fridge with their delicious moo juice... their service is great as well... and to top it off, you bring in your cooler to store your milk for the drive home, and they will fill it with ice for free... how is that for some great customer service...

One of the best Milk products I've ever had in my life. Truly beats all the rest. The Milk texture is so thin but so fresh tasting, just like the Milk man from the 1920's intended for us to drink. Thanks Broguieres, you have brought back a true Milk that once was never ever thought to be imagined by even our greatest of Grandparents!

This place needs to be on the list of places to visit before you die. Specifically their amazing chocolate milk. That's all I can really say. It's perfect. Super creamy & thick. In a glass bottle to maintain a perfect cold temperature. It's fresh from the farm when you come here to buy it.
I've yet to try many other products they sell, but I'm impressed. -
Review from richard y.
Monterey Park, CA
This place has the best milk in LA, great chocolate milk, and by far the best nog going for the holidays. I like the old glass bottles very much as well.
Once, my motorcycle wouldn't start because I left the hand heaters on while loading up the milk and the counter guy came over and gave me a jump.
If you haven't tried the place, do. BTW, if you bring your glass bottles back, it's more affordable and environmentally conscious than plastic. One more thing: "Their milk is so fresh the cow doesn't even know it's missing!" and as "fresh as the morning." -

@ Edmundo C. - Your question about whether there was BPA in the glass was ignorant. BPA is a chemical used in the production of plastic - it does not exist in glass. The only possible exposure would be the lid lining, and it would such a remotely small quantity that it doesn't fall into the current "BPA is a problem" issues that you see with cans and plastics. Thus the fact that they had no idea what BPA was is irrelevant.

Seriously, I am spoiled by this dairy and whenever I wind up out of town or state, I just can't drink anyone else's milk at all. Always great product and service...glad I don't live far from this place.

Funky lil' place! Drove out there today to get their milk - and they sell it by the gallon! By the GALLON I tell ya! Their milk is oh so good - it's heavenly! Choco milk is not really milk - it's like a shake, like a wonderful delicious candy! I brought it back to work and everyone simply had to try it out and let me tell ya - now I have orders for when I go back there next time...
They do not take Debit/CC - cash or check only, so be prepared. -

My most unique chocolate dish found on Yelp isn't a dish but the old classic Chocolate Milk. Hands down the best chocolate milk I've ever had was at "Broguieres Farm Fresh Dairy" I wouldn't have thought about chocolate milk being unique but then after having this chocolate milk you realize how many unique ways you can turn chocolate into desserts, cakes and dipped in meat... but going back to the classic moments in life brings back memories of my childhood when I would always grab a chocolate milk carton at lunch time --- life was simple and stress free...and this Chocolate milk brings it all back..

Truly the best chocolate milk I've ever had in my entire life!
I got it once on a whim on vacation in So. Cal. Since that time, every visit to So. Cal., I am seeking out the Broguiere's chocolate milk in a bottle. (And, I love the bottle!)
Give it a try---you will LOVE it! -

What do they all have in common you ask?
Why such a random list?!?!
I'll tell you.
They all drank Broguiere's milk.
And it made them so powerful.
So strong.
So many homeruns..
so many.. muscles.
They tested positive for steroids, but in reality it was the nectar of the Gods.

Fresh, Fresher, Freshest!
Eggs, O.J., milk, and of course THE AMAZING CHOCOLATE MILK!
I just want to write a little poem to the Chocolate Milk:
You are so rich
You are so thick
Just like a milk shake
You have the right kick
I just never knew store bought milk chocolate could taste so good.
You simply roll up in your car, get a greeting from the friendly gentlemen, buy your essential staples, and drive back home and prep a delicious fresh (there's that word again) breakfast.
And of course the glass bottles give the place a nice old school feeling. One of the few great places in Montebello. -
Review from Andrew N.
"Milk so fresh the cow doesn't know it's missing." That's the slogan of Broguiere's milk and heck yeah, it's so true. Where else can you get milk in a glass bottle in So Cal? No where else! They are the last ones to do it in So Cal.
As for the milk, you've GOT to try the chocolate milk. It's creamy and rich, and full of chocolatey goodness. During the holidays, they feature an eggnog that I feel people either love or hate. It is an acquired taste for some and Broguiere's take on it is pretty darn tasty in my opinion. They charge a deposit for their glass bottles, so if you return the empty bottles after finishing their divine milk, then you get your deposit back.
The dairy itself is an old school drive-through. You can drive into the driveway, park, and go up to their counter to order. The experience of a dairy from years past itself is something to check out. -

Ralph's in La Crescenta and Bristol Farms in South Pas carry it. Return the bottles for your deposit back. -

Best. Chocolate. Milk. Ever!
And their eggnog's nothing to sneeze at either! I hope they stay in business a LONG time.
