Oh man... I had no idea milk could be this good!
I have never been to their dairy, but I just started buying their milk from Gelson's on the recommendation of a friend. It is truly amazing!
I am a complete and udder (ha ha, lame pun intended) snob when it comes to cappuccini. I've traveled all over seeking the best way to make them. I dream about them. I have at my house what is quite possibly the best espresso machine ever made... yet, even though the cappuccini I made at home were very good, there was always something that kept them from being perfect. It was the milk!
I was buying organic milk in cartons, thinking that it was good. Now it seems like rubbish. The milk from Broguiere's is stellar and now my cappuccini are perfect. I am in heaven!
How the heck did I not know about this place? I live in Pico Friggin Rivera and I did not know about this place?!
The chocolate milk is to die for. You have to get it in the glass bottle and get the half gallon. I made the mistake of getting the quarter and the guy (who was super helpful) even said, "It goes by fast!". Damn. I just got home from there and the chocolate milk is almost gone.
Get the half gallon.

Thanks to Dawson aka Boba Lady for reminding me about the delicious milk Broguiere produces!
Not going to lie to you, but compared to Taiwan and Japan, milk from the US is generally quite flavorless and seems watered down possibly due to feed and pasteurization.
Back in the days, fresh milk in Taiwan was expensive (and it still is compared to what you can buy for the price) so many elderly still drink powdered milk. But there is a certain flavor to it that takes experience to describe what Stateside milk lacks. Personally, fresh soy milk is the way to go from the farmers market when I go back home.
If you ever go to supermarket in Taiwan, the milk companies will actually hire people to promote milk in front of the refrigerated section. "Today's special! Get 2 milk for only NT$100!!!" They would enthusiastically shout.
But ahhhhh this bring back the memory what milk is SUPPOSE to taste like...gulp, gulp, gulp! The chocolate milk is so creamy it's like they dissolved two delicious bars of chocolate into it.
I've found them in my local Henry's Market. Others have spotted them in your nearby Whole Foods.
At least there's one good thing about Montebello. Now please don't kill me.

the best egg nog i have ever had... and i've had a lot of nog! :)
Im tellin you its those happy cows, Now i have family in the California dairy business.. being Portuguese its kinda hard not to.. I have tried milk from dairies north to south in this state... This stuff... is bomb But the fact that its in the old skool glass bottle makes it even better. The first time i tried this milk was a few years back, never got to trying the chocolate milk until a couple days ago after hearing how good it was. Im a milk fan and a chocolate milk fan but bottled chocolate milk is always to rich, syrupy and sweet. so i was expecting sorta the same thing. WOW i was very wrong. perfectly sweet and crrreeaammyyy. Absolutely the best Chocolate Milk i have ever had. Just wish it didnt cost me 5 bucks a bottle! (Henry's) or i would buy it more often.
You guys have to try the chocolate milk here is the best and im not a milk fan! oh and they have the best eggnog ever people from different parts come to try the eggnog!
Lactose intolerant I am not. This is evidenced by the fact that I still crave a nice cold glass of rich creamy milk at least twice a week and if I can't sleep, I heat it up with some vanilla and sip away. The only caveat, it's gotta be good. I don't drink any hormone laden, outta the plastic, watered down crap.
Is it wrong that I want to fill my kitchen with Broguire's vintage glass milk jugs? Is it?
They must be rubbin' their cows the right way 'cause that milk is so much better than good. Even the nonfat tastes creamy. And the chocolate. Shit. I don't even like chocolate and I can put one of those down myself. Same with their egg nog. Not something I usually dig but theirs is out of this world. With some brandy whipped in, ohmigod. It's xmas in a cup. Outta this world, I tell ya! See? I get so excited about this old fashioned dairy, now I even sound like my gramps.

I have it marked on my calendar. The first day they sell Egg nog, I'm there buying three bottles and chugging it down. They know their milk products.
Add in that there's something magical about getting milk in a glass bottle. It's the nostalgia behind it. Odd given that I never lived during the time when Milk Men were around.
But much the same that gals still dress up like varga and pin up gals, I'll continue to drink my ol' time Milk in the fashion of those days... in a milk bottle.
Besides, you tell me a store I can just pull my car to the door and get them to bring ME the milk. I mean, that's service for the lazy man. I may be getting a 1% milk, but I'm certainly not going to waste any energy walking inside a store to buy these.
This is really the best tasting milk I have ever had. The chocolate milk is also something I can put away without any problem. If you're a fan of diary or just love good milk, forget snapple, this stuff is the best stuff on earth!

This place gets a weekly visit from me... love the fresh milk, you can taste the difference from the store stuff in a plastic container.
Awesome chocolate milk, good OJ and nice large eggs!
Its a must in my household!
Not to mention good, quick customer service!!!
If only they delivered....
Best chocolate milk EVER!!!! Period
It's so good it feels like your consuming something illegal when you drink it.

I try to stop every Friday on my way home from work. Good prices on all products. The milk is so fresh and delicious.
Farm Fresh Milk with Old School Goodness. Broguiere's milk pogs... pop 'em and gotta catch 'em all! Like Pokey-Man!
Broguiere's Dairy is a great landmark and still makes quality milk in the glass bottles like yester-years and like parts of Europe. Broguiere's milk is creamy, Moooo fresh and damn good. The chocolate milk is outstanding and the farm fresh dozen egg carts they sell are fresh. I used to drive here for the milk and then venture to the Orowheat bread outlet on the next block over. Talk about recession good deals. Shoot, we could all use some deals with this recession, right? Uh-huh? You know it! Get your milk drink on at Broguiere's! It's moo good.
Should you drive to Montebello, make it an adventure. Stop at Arry's for a burger, and then venture to Borguiere's for milk. Then, keep the empty bottle and put some daisies in it. Flowers look beautiful inside a Broguiere's milk bottle.
Bring Back The Drive-Thru Dairy Marts!!! I miss them!

We used 10 eggs today and 2 of them had blood spots in them. Other than that, the yolks were really rich and bright. Their milk is pretty good, it tastes more creamy than regular milk you buy from the store.
From what I've read, visible blood spots are not a bad thing and can still be eaten. It means the eggs are fresh, but could also mean that the hens are under stress or laid from older hens. Who really knows why, but what I do know is that they don't candle-inspect their eggs before selling them. So it really is like buying straight from a farm.

Silky smooth chocolate milk that will have your mouth begging for more. Unlike Nesquik, you dont get that feeling like you're swallowing mud. The taste and texture is simply heavenly.
Rumor has it that Oompa Loompas were tortured for their ultimate chocolate milk recipe. One of them obviously cracked. Well done Broguieres, well done. I am forever a fan.

These glass jugs contain the best milk ever... And I know my milk! Their milk does MY body good. I just have to stay away from their chocolate milk, which is to die for!!! Mmm... I wish I had a glass right now. And I crave their eggnog year round. Damn you Broguiere's!
If you haven't tried milk that came from a glass jug before, you are missing out. It's way better! Nice and cold. Speaking of cold... Even their slogan is cool... "Milk so fresh, the cow won't know it's missing."
Yep... Broguiere's is the shit alright! Just look for the glass bottle with the picture of the moo cow on it at your local chi-chi market! And don't forget to bring the bottles back for your $1 refund.

I braved extreme weather on my day off in search of this much fabled eggnog. Google maps hooked it up and I found this place pretty easily. I turned in my old bottles and picked up two bottles of heavy, yellow eggnog. Upon arriving home I heated up a bit and it was everything it could be.
When I think of eggnog, I think of creamy, eggy, richness permeated with the scent of nutmeg that encompasses everything good about the holiday season. This idyllic dream about eggnog has always been a fantasy, until now. Boguiere's eggnog is all these things. It won't make Santa appear with reindeer, but it'll make it seem possible. Magic.

Broguiere's Farm Fresh Dairy = best chocolate milk AND egg nog everr ? And it's in my hometown of Montebello?
Yelp...are you sure you aren't going to fail me this time like you did last time with Alondra's ? http://www.yelp.com/bi...
I'm not really that hard to please. Chocolate milk in my mouth = happy Gi. Good thing Broguiere's did not disappoint. The egg nog and the chocolate milk are so creamy, flavorful, and thick.
The drive through makes things convenient, but if you really want, you can park on the street and walk up to the dairy.

I'm going to need to make a special trip up to Montebello to check this place out!
My review is just for the product. I cant even explain how much better this milk is than any other milk I've ever bought. Even compared to that fancy pants organic milk. You can actually buy it at the Henry's on Park, and they carry the non-fat (my personal fav, tastes NOTHING like the usual "milk water" that is most non fat milk) low fat, whole, and chocolate.
I love the bottles too! Super cute old school glass bottles that make me feel like the milkman delivered it, and there really isn't anything comparable to ice cold milk from a glass bottle (versus a coated paper container or yucky plastic). I guess I can turn them back into Henry's for a discount, but I keep it green and reuse them for little bud vases in my garden, a unique container for pistachios and cashews, and tons of other things around the house. Even just displaying them along the kitchen window is cute!
I have heard the eggnog is the best ever, so I will have to update this around Christmas when I find someone who sells it. If your local grocer sells Broguiere's, get on it and DRINK UP! Did I mention is is super cheap too? Yeah. Cheaper than the Henry's brand milk, and that milk is from cows treated with hormones. Brog's isnt. Got Milk?

I discovered this place several months ago and the funniest thing is that I have lived in LA all my life and even went to high school in Montebello and never heard of this place until recently.
Here they sell milk, chocolate milk, and orange juice in plastic and glass containers. I first tried the milk in the glass container and immediately liked the freshness and quality of the milk. Regular milk in plastic containers just don't do it justice. Actually any liquid in plastic containers just don't taste the same as in glass containers.
On another visit I bought 3 glass bottles each of chocolate milk and egg nog. Their chocolate milk is so rich and creamy that I literally chugged the whole quart bottle. I never had anything like that until now. The egg nog is just unbelievably so good. I wish that was available all year long but it's out only during the holiday season.
GOT MILK ???? Well this old fashion milk barn with glass bottled COLD milk is worth the trip to Montebello for sure! And you have to try their Chocolate Milk -yes - they must get it from the Brown Cows- cause it is sooo rich and creamy, not made with low fat chocolate flavoring, it is the real thing. Probably has a thousand calories in it but who cares! It is great!
The Eggnog must be made with 50 eggs or maybe the chicken went swimming in the bottle- cause it too is deep yellow in color, thick, creamy and wonderful! Put a little rum in it and yes I'm happy !!!
They also sell butter, fresh farm eggs and all are much cheaper than your supermarket and not 3 weeks old.
You can return the bottles and get a $1.00 refund there or at some of the Vons stores that sell their product. But always keep some home -you can have a old fashioned water bottle for the fridge- which will keep extra cold! Or you can fill the empty bottles with nuts or candies and give them out for gifts! Your old Aunt or Grandma will love it!
So If you want to take a trip down memory 1950's lane, buy this milk in the glass bottle..... Too bad they don't deliver it to your door in a little truck-I would be in Moo Heaven for sure !!!

This dairy is the "BEST". "Milk so fresh... the cow doesn't know it's missing," the slogan of the utmost truth.
Drive to Montebello. Do it now. If you enjoy milk, you must enjoy it in a glass bottle from Broguiere's. The chocolate milk here is unbelievably creamy, full, rich and chocolaty. If you're a fan of egg nog during the holidays, make sure to visit in December. The nog is second to none I tell you, but I bet it has about 2000 calories based on its deep yellow color. You may want to call ahead...they frequently run out of nog when it's in season.
This is another interesting so Cal destination I discovered thanks to PBS and Mr. Huell Howser. After a December outing to Oceanic Arts in Whittier, we decided to make the 15 minute trek west to Broguiere's Dairy, and boy am I glad we did!! It's one of the last drive-thru dairies around, and is one of the few dairies to serve their milk in glass bottles just like the old days. Milk must be tried in a glass bottle. Milk bottled in plastic is just horrible by comparison.
I'm not a big milk drinker, but I do enjoy it ever now and again with some cereal. I had some Special K with the Broguiere's 2%, and it was fantastic. Wow!
Our family of four bought 8 bottles on our last visit: 3 milks, 2 egg nogs, and 3 chocolate milks...and they were all gone in about 48 hours. Their milk products are just too good to keep around for very long.
Another bit of fun was that I got one of the special edition Huell Howser inscribed bottles to mark the occasion! Most wouldn't care probably, but it made my day (I need a life, yes). Oh, and their heavy duty cardboard carriers are provided free (unlike Galco's...see my review).
yumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyu myumyumyumyum
The chocolate milk and the eggnog is delicious! The glass bottles are awesome! The drive through is really convenient, but you do need to get out and tell them what you want. At first I thought it was a little pricey, then everyone kept insisting that it's actually reasonably priced, so I went back and got more!!

Nothing new to add in terms of quality, but some people have asked me about pricing.
After a little sleuthing, it turns out that Whole Foods in fact has the best price, at least for the chocolate milk! Every market will add CRV, so judging from the sticker price everywhere, WF is $4.99; Ralphs is a ridiculous $7something (even if that has the CRV already included, it's too high), and Bristol Farms is $5.99.
Now this most definitely isn't biased at all, but WF is the best place to shop because the prices, judging from pre-packaged/outsourced things, aren't all that bad. Newman's Own Hint-o-Mint cookies are just 3.99 here. They're $5-something at Ralphs, and you STILL have to hang out with a bunch of coupon-clipping fatties there and avoid Kroger-brand generics. Ugh. ; )

Rats! My secret source is revealed. Did you know those bottles are collectables? If you see someone going through the bottles at the market looking for a particular imprint, they are a collector.

So I'm planning my spring break trip to L.A and who thought a farm fresh dairy mart would be on the list? Well it wasn't until the bf was in search of glass milk bottles then it became a must go to. So we make the mission and get 2 bottles of chocolate milk and 4 of reg milk and 1 large O.J. We honestly only came for the bottles themselves, but I was soo hyped on this milk, I could not wait to try. Basically it is the BEST chocolate milk and milk I've ever had. I wished I lived back in L.A for I can frequent this place more often. ahhh and the glass bottles, we have plans I tell you =D

Its super delicious and easy on the stomach.
THE BEST CHOCOLATE MILK IN THE WORLD!! That's a huge statement....coming from a non-chocolate lover~
Their extra-creamy chocolate milk is so rich and soooo tasty. I'm lucky enough to live close to their Montebello store. Their Montebello store is actually a little outdoor store. You drive up to it (like a Rockview), but you have to get out and get your stuff.
I've had their milk (2%), their chocolate milk, and their orange juice. ALL GOOD.
The BEST thing....it comes in GLASS BOTTLES!!!! How awesome is that!
If you return a glass bottle to their store, you get $1 back.
I've also bought their milk at Henry's (a type of Whole Foods). It's about $5 per bottle. Kinda pricey...but again....their chocolate milk is totally worth it. Try it out!

I remember the glass bottles of magnolia milk when i was a kid. broguiere's remind of that feeling ten times more. i've seen this in my nearby stater bros since it's very unusual to see milk in a glass bottle i'm very intrigued. so the next time i reached for a half gallon of milk i picked up broguiere's.
it's more expensive than your usual milk but hey it's better than all sugar drinks we drink half of the time.
i really like it a lot that my friend and i will traverse the oh so crowded I-605 to buy more milk, try their OJ and the infamous chocolate milk.
then more yelping after that.
ah, egg nog. they only make it for two months out of the whole year, but every time i'm there, people leave with four bottles of it -- it's THAT good. also, it's a lot more affordable than the gelson's/whole food's/ralph's markup of the very same bottle. for a short drive, you save practically $3 on a freshly bottled milk or chocolate milk (stores charge about 5-6 bucks for it, while the dairy only charges 3). also, if you bring your bottle back, you get your deposit back, or put it toward a new bottle of milk.
also, they sell pretty much anything a small dairy would sell, like orange juice, butter and eggs. their orange juice comes in a gallon container and it's really fresh tasting (not too sweet, not too thick). it's also only about $2. and last, but not finally, i have to say, for farm fresh eggs, their stuff is a BARGAIN. we get 24 eggs for $2 and they are absolutely delicious. i refuse to buy anything else now.

Got milk?
After Huell Howser did a special on this dairy, I noticed their products at my local Bristol Farms and grabbed a couple of the bottles of egg nog and chocolate milk. I shoulda grabbed more. That's one of the problems with a limited source...it's limited. So if you live or work near this dairy, count your blessings (or bottles). Their chocolate and egg nog is something you just can't deny. Don't believe me, think you're bad? Try it and then tell me. Wipe your lips first, you're dribbling.
Every year, they print bottles with Christmas and New Year's themes. I'm not supposed to say this but I kept 3 of them as they are reminders of the most pleasurable times. You should return the bottles, though. I've posted a photo but please, don't tell the Broguiere family that I kept mine. They'd be pissed. And the last thing I want is Huell Howser at my door, mic in hand, asking why I was such a bitch to keep them!

I remember being in elementary school entering a drawing I did for their bottle design contest. Sadly to say, I didn't win but the good thing is that you don't have to be a winner to have some of their chocolate milk. It's by far, the best chocolate milk I never had.

I've never liked the taste of milk in America. When I lived in Australia, the milk there tasted very different to the milk here. In fact, the best milk I'd ever tasted was in New Zealand and England.
A friend of our's was visiting this week. He lived in England for a while and as we strolled through Whole Foods, we were discussing the taste of milk. In England, they still deliver milk in glass jars, so when I saw that Whole Foods had milk in glass bottles, I thought, okay, let's give this a try and see how it tastes.
Well, the Broguiere's milk I bought a couple of days ago is now all gone. It was delicious!! I'm very glad that I liked the taste of it and couldn't stop drinking it. I will be back to get more! Only downside to the glass bottles is that there is a CRV of $1.25, so don't forget to rinse out the bottle and bring it back!!

I could not believe chocolate milk can be good....I never like drinking chocolate milk especially from elementary school...so when my cousin told me about this place, I had to try it! It is also only 3 miles from where I live so I had to pass by. This is not your ordinary milk market...it looks like a drive thru - but you still have to get out of your car. You can look at the refrigerator but the friendly people who work there will get what you want. So I ordered two glass bottles of their chocolate milk...OMG - how do they make it sooooo good? This is truly the best chocolate milk I have ever tasted! I'm just bummed that I did not know about this place earlier! I will definitely keep buying from here...I also heard their egg nog is really good but I have not tried it, but I will...maybe.

They have the best Chocolate mike here, its rich, smooth and just plain out good.
Did someone say Chocolate Milk. No doubt, hands down that Brouieres is the BEST for chocolate milk. So silky smooth and chocolatey, it's like dying and going to chocolate heaven. This is how chocolate milke should taste. Rich and just the right amount of consistency. Delicious. Buy it in the glass bottles. Milk always taste better out of glass and it gets so cold. MMM Good...time to make a run.
