In the last year, I've had a habit of wearing heels on greedy sidewalks. They keep stealing the rubber part off the bottom of my heel.
I'm like, "Hey, sidewalk, what do you need that for? And why can't I dig it out and get it back?" It doesn't respond and I embarrassingly end up step-clack-step-clacking around for the rest of the day.
The guys at Broadway Shoe Repair kindly give the sidewalk the evil eye and replace my missing heels for 10 bucks/pair in one day.
My boots had suffered a worse fate: the soles cracked along the balls of the feet. While seemingly not a big deal, try walking around on a typically damp Seattle winter evening and figure out if you enjoy sopping wet feet. They seamlessly replaced the half of the sole, good-as-new. They also patched up and polished out all the scuffs and nicks caused by stairs and other evil architectural elements that take their aggressions out on my lovely shoes.
My only minus was the glue job on the loose flap of sole was pretty sloppy. Nothing that an impartial observer would notice from standing, but I probably would have opted for glue gunning it myself.
I would say that Broadway Shoe Repair kicks ass, but I don't want to scuff my nearly-new shoes.
been bringing my shoes here and always ended up happy, the guys are fast and clean, mostly bring in my new shoes to put a some heel and make them a little higher so i don't step on my trousers :) good pricing and good timing

I used to be very skilled at wearing high heels. Then I started working in a lab. Then I moved to Seattle where heels = death when you have to walk up-a-hill-down-a-hill every 2 blocks. Then I went to grad school where people get confused when you try to dress nicely.
So, in short, I had 2 pair of 3 in boots that got destroyed because I don't know how to wear high heels anymore.
Luckily, Broadway Shoe Repair is less than a block away from me. I dropped off my shoes at 4:30 and these guys re-heeled them by 6:30. I paid around $30 because apparently I had worn down one of the heels so badly they had to rebuild about an inch of actual shoe. Nice work, everyone.
The shoe guy was very nice, the shoes look great, and so far, I haven't managed to ruin them again.
Given my track record, I'll probably be taking advantage of the 6th-pair-free deal.
I dropped off the boots one day, which took literally 30 seconds, and picked them up the next, which took a minute, tops. Service was super efficient and the repair was cheeeeeap! To replace a pair of boot heels (the rubber part at the bottom) was only $11! They did a fabulous job and my boots looked amazing when they were finished. What else can I say? They did a great job, charged a fair price, were friendly and organized, and it took no time at all. Definitely my new shoe repair place.
I went here to get my FAVORITE pair of boots reheeled and came away extremely happy with the service there.
Not only did they take less than 15 minutes, but they also only charged $10.88 (includes tax), which is $7 less than a place I tried downtown. They also used rubber heels, which they explained last longer than the plastic ones that had been on my boots previously. I'd definitely trust them with all my best heels and boots!
I gave this place a try after my the heels of my pumps were down to the metal stubs.
What I liked: They open until 7pm or 8pm in the evenings.
Very friendly and helpful. You can tell they were pros.
What made it slightly challenge to give it a 5 stars:
My total came to $30 for three shoes, averaging $10 each. Mind you, my pumps cost me $15 so now the value just went up.
But, they also made it "addicting" to go back because of the stamp card, the 6th pair of heels is free!
I bought some huge, nordic, yeti boots off of ebay and after wearing them for a few hours the bottoms came unglued. I was flapping around Capitol Hill for the rest of the day, until I could take them to Broadway Shoe Repair.
I had never been before but they were very easy to find, especially when one is studying at the new Vivace location, right across the street. I think they finished the repair the same day, but I didn't go in until the next day to pick them up.
The guys were really nice and surly in a "I-Am-A-Fecking-EXPERT-At-Shoe-Repair" kind of way. They charged me $25 dollars for my gluing, but they guaranteed it, kept my boots in a wee bag so they wouldn't get dirty, and were apologetic about the price - I think usually it's cheaper than that.
Extra points for answering my boyfriend's many questions about all the machines, guys.
This is the "Only Place" that has touched any of my boots in the last 4 yrs
and I live in boots so they need new heals, new soles, or some times a blown out side needs restitching
and the guys here are always on top of there game, I have almost always gotten my boots back the same day !! that's unheard of most other places, and its not like they are not busy, just look at the boots they have lined up
If you go else were, you only have your self to blame if you are not happy in the end
these guys are awesome! i took a pair of boots with a missing heel and ripped off siding and they completely rebuilt the heels and they look fantastic, even better than they originally looked. i was happy to give them my money.
PS they have 2 spots by the side door with meters but are free if you park there less than 15 minutes. they only validate parking for the garage once.
This would be a 5..but DUH..BROADWAY ? Just double park...I am familiar with shoe repair..LET ME TELL YOU. Stretch, Re heel, Re sole, Re ANYTHING. I have been all over this city and these guys were prompt and my shoes looked great. I am so tempted to tell you where not to go ..but I guess lets just say I will be going back FOR SURE!
I have had about 5 pairs of boots/shoes repaired here in the last 3 months, and I have absolutely no complaints.
These guys are friendly, fast, and do their job damn well!
*Get a punch card too, free heel repair after 6 punches!
I LOVE these little men! I am a shoe PIG, therefore there are few places I would trust with my treasures. I've had many a shoe re-heeled & rubber added to a few leather soles. They are always extremely timely (usually within the hour), & reasonably priced. Plus they have punch cards for us addicts...
The snobs will send you to Ramuta's but they take a week+ to get your shoes back and it's so chaotic there you run into the possibility of never find them again.
The gems at the Broadways shoe repair are my true shoe friends.
I am really hard on my shoes.
I can't believe it took me 32 years to visit a shoe repair shop. In the past I have simply donated broken, worn shoes to Goodwill and used this as an excuse to buy more shoes.
Only recently have I realized it would be in my best interest to save the coveted shoes I do have. I took two hopeless cases to Broadway Shoe Repair to see what happened.
The two guys that worked there took one look at my pumps and boots, gave me my options and told me to come back tomorrow. Tomorrow? These damaged shoes has been sitting in the trunk of my car for 6 months while I toyed with the idea of donating them to charity vs. visiting a cobbler.
24 hours & $50 later my black pumps & Sudini Italian Boots - both with broken heels and worn soles- were put back together near brand spankin ' new. Not perfect-- but definitely fit to wear to work again. I mean no one looks a the bottom of my shoes anyways, right? I felt so smart and sexy strutting around in my refurbished gear. It was almost the same buzz I get when buying a new pair of shoes.
I was looking for a place I could take shoes that was on my way to work, and this was about as close as I could manage. They did fine work, for a reasonable price, and were hilarious to talk with...we exchanged stories about great thrift finds of footwear. I was very impressed with how quickly the turnaround is here, and highly recommend it to everyone.
The only shoe repair in the vicinity of Broadway, as far as I know, but good thing, because they're incredibly fast, helpful, skilled, and friendly. They fixed my cherished Dr. Marten boot with a new zipper in just a few days.
I've had this place do some basic shoe repair for me, and the work has been acceptable, though I don't think I'd have them work on some of my more valuable/sentimental things. The Broadway Market location makes going there really convenient. Recently, they replaced the tips/toes on a pair of basic black leather pumps, and looking at the sole the work was just a little bit sloppy (though since it's on the bottom I don't mind very much). On the other hand, the guys that work there are really nice, and won't rip you off with doing repairs your shoes don't need.
I have very skinny legs and knee high boots never fit me. I have had a couple pairs of boots taken in here and they have done a great job. I also bring in other types of shoes and I have always been happy with the results.
These guys are OK for very, and I mean very basic repairs. Anything else, and their work is at best questionable. I say with based on 2 ruined pairs of boots. One where they installed a gold zipper in the place of a broken silver one and thought I would be OK with unmatching boots, and one where they sewed an open seam on a pattern leather boot from the outside instead of the inside leaving me with a bulging seam at the back of my ankle that they could and would not fix. If you are even remotely concerned about the how your shoes are returned, or if they are of any value, then don't bring them here.
I love the idea of having a shoe repair place so close by.
I enjoy the idea of having a first-name relationship with my shoe guys.
I relish the neighborhood feel of smaller shops.
That said, this place is fine for shoe shining, but for repairs beyond taps, take your stuff somewhere else.
I took a leather handbag there for a strap repair. The repair was made on the underside of the flat straps with plastic material which cracked quickly and I was left with another repair to make (searching for a 'leather repair' shop today, found this place again!)
Their customer service is fantastic - I've taken shoes in to be shined at the last minute (the VERY last minute) and they've always been happy to do the job. Not the best job, not better than I can shine my shoes (was in the military) but better than before, definitely.
So thumbs up on the shining and taps, thumbs down on the leather repair.
My kids say 4 on this Broadway Market shoe repair outfit. Totally nice guys will fix what they can on the spot and sometimes complimentary. They've fixed our shoes, shortened belts and even worked on a leather watch band I needed adjusted. Validated parking so don't sweat trying to park out on the street.
i just took a pair of heels here today, for the first time. since this was my first time trying the place out, i only took in one of the 4 pairs of heels i have that require new tips. they were busy, but did them while i waited and did a perfect job (right colour of tip, and shaved down the sides of the tip to make sure it aligned perfectly with my heel). the main reason i went was because they were open sunday and i needed to wear these shoes out today.
based on my experience today, i'll bring my other pairs of heels in for tip replacement. also, they are open until 8pm during the week, so it's not a crazy hassle to drop by after work. i'll update this when i do that.
Update: I brought back 4 more pairs for heel tip replacement on Saturday. It was a beautiful day out, so the area and the shop were really busy. The guy there gave me great service. He fixed up the heels I was wearing on the spot. The other pairs were ready in 2 hours, which was great. No complaints and they smoothed out the heel to make it look nice. I also like that they have a stamp card (something like buy 6 get one free).
