this review is for frames only (non exam, non contacts, non prescription... etc)

i'm on this search for a good pair of chanel frames (specifically the ones that lauren conrad wears in the hills, i'm embarassed to admit this, but oh well) i just walked in while i was at the mall b/c they had chanel signs in the window. i walked in and then ran into my friend who worked there! NICE!

i wanted to try on ALL the chanel frames they had since not very many places carry them. i asked her why that was, and its b/c chanel is very picky out where they sell their products. they will come into the store, scope it out. have secret shoppers come in, so they can guarantee that their product is being sold at a reputable place. so thank goodness i was automatically comfortable to ask her if i can basically try on all their plastic chanel frames. i didn't really find the perfect pair there, but i will definitely be back to browse some more.

this place has a pretty good selection of designer glasses. but it does suck however, that some of the frames are behind the counter and you have to ask to see them, i'm one of those people that like trying on EVERYTHING, and comparing back and forth, so to have someone babysitting me, is kind of embarrassing, b/c sometimes i also want to try on the BUTT UGLY frames just for fun when they're not looking........

hmm maybe thats why they have the frames behind the counter. b/c of people like me.  -_-

by the way, they take VSP.

I am 54 years old and have been wearing eyeglasses since I was seven years old. I have never been to an Optometry store/office where the opticians and the optometrists have been so helpful and professional. In particular, earlier this year, I started wearing a new pair of eyeglasses but my vision was still blurry--Dr. Surh examined my eyes and figured out what was going on--she wrote a new prescription and then rushed my order for a new pair of eyeglasses. I received my new eyeglasses a little over a week later and my vision has never been sharper.

Broadway Eyeworks is in Stonestown Galleria.  It is a small store with very nice doctors.  I consider this place to be on the expensive end of eyeglass stores.  It is in a mall, and because hoodlums and tweens congregate en masse in malls, they have placed all the frames away from harm's reach.

If you want to try them on, you have to find an available store person, and point from afar so they can hand you the precious frames one at a time.  This wears on me, because I like to try on every pair and quickly.

On the plus side, the buyers of this store have excellent taste.  It's like they chucked all the fugly frames and left just the gems of the designers' collections....and to name drop...there are Chanels, Pradas, and Guccis.  They also carry some pricey, but exquisite Japanese lines.

They've had trunk shows in the past for designers and their upcoming collections.  Get friendly with the owner, and he will call you to let you know when the next one is.

If you're in the market for designer sunglasses, their small but beautiful sunglasses collection makes me drool and want to become a mafia princess.  Once again, they pick the cream of the crop, and so expect to pay big for looking this chic.

Alas, I tried on the most awesome pair of frames, and after calculating the cost, even with my vision insurance, it would be $650 out of pocket.  Apparently, my insurance needs an UPGRADE (damn you school district and VSP!!!)

So, I bid adieu to those beautiful frames.  When I'm older and can afford such luxuries, I will return.

Selection = great.
Service = good.  They try.
Prices = expensive, but they try to work with you on certain things.  Let's be reasonable here.

Great selection of eye glasses.  I purchased my specs from here 3 years ago.

I did have a bad incident recently with a young employee here that caused some stress for about 4 days.  A salesperson tried to adjust my glasses and while doing so broke the screw holding the frame to the ear piece.  She told me to bring them back a couple of days later so that a specialist could fix them in house.

The night before dropping off my specs at the store, the young girl called and said that since it's been 3 years since I purchased my glasses that if the specialist breaks the glasses while fixing, they were not liable for breakage.  But she, the employee, was the one who broke my perfectly fine glasses, I reminded her.

Long story short, the glasses are dropped off and a fixed pair is picked up just days later.  The store was apologetic and my glasses are repaired!  Oh, such a glorious day to have my eyes back.

The selection of designer frames are great, but this incident just makes me not want to purchase glasses here anymore.
