What a great place to gather with friends over nice drinks and a great crowd!
Everyone was so friendly here! not the traditional douche bags you might get with hollywood or even other bars in downtown.. people here were genuinely friendly and easy going. Some girl even opened the door for ME!? i thought it was weird at first but she insisted holding the door open for me :)  thats never happened to me b4!
As for the food here, they don't have a kitchen so they allow you to order delivery from some of the local eateries. we had pizza delivered to us :)

Great mix of crowd here, sometimes can be a bit hit
and miss with the crowd. Moe or so is due to the weekend
bunnies and crowds that come.
I like to catch a early evening drink while you can still
catch the bartender.
Drawback....parking. But that's downtown.

Broadway Bar is definitely "Broads' Way Bar"...catch ma' drift? ;-)

Essentially, girls can have their way here w/any of the fine male specimens floating unattended, unbound, & un-ashamedly free for the pounce. Cougars & pumas entirely welcomed. Actually though, age/status seem to blend here. Professionals, Frat Boys, Sports Junkies, J.Crew/A&F/Gap Boy Model Wannabes mix well w/Valley, Mods, Retros, Artists, Transients, & Foreign Expats--yes, I actually met all in each category in a span of 1.5hrs

...& how in the world could/did I end up w/4 young law-abiding, red-blooded American adorable hotties in my sedan by end of a surprisingly adventurous night? BB have something to do w/this? Friendly vibe must be. Floated here after killing less-than-spectacular time @The Crocker from other end of town.

No worries, all safety precautions respected. I played the designated cabbie since we all wanted to head to La Cita (divey $5 dance joint, next door to one of the best Mexican late-niters)

Total deja vu for me, since not the first time making random new friends during DTown Artwalk only to end up in the same destination. Every time after, I swear to behave--but then break/forget my own dang promises, sheesh!

It was a big night that night and not for the reasons I'd originally thought.
My friend Trina hosted a private party with another friend who owns a gaming site the weekend of E 4 All.

I arrived with then serious- but never really truly serious- counterpart to a huge line awaiting to go upstairs to the event.  The bar was completely packed both downstairs and up.  It was a big night of nerdery and even a bit of eye candy.

My eyes glanced over at the posh crowd around us downstairs.  We cared nothing about them.  That night was something special entirely.
That night was the night he told me he loved me for the first time.  That night...

We walked upstairs to an entourage of friends and would be friends.  The upper level was at max capacity.  My friend's party- arguably one of the best of the con.  I was so happy for her.  I am very proud of her still.

There was an outdoor patio.  It was packed but a nice escape for a few moments after awaiting the long lines in the bar in the next room.  A few couches.  A few tables.  Not that much seating space really but just enough.

Ah little bar downtown aptly named Broadway.  A place where dreams were made but later broken.  Que sera sera.  Whatever will be, will be... the future [we didn't know it then] is not ours [in the end] you see.  Que sera sera.
What will be, will be.

Cest' le vie.

Friday night: There are no lines and it's not too crowded inside. The music is a bit of a miss tonight but nonetheless we have a good time. It's all about the company. And what better than to end the night with a street side bacon wrapped hot dog immediately to the right? I am complete.

I love this place.  So my friends and I were out for a birthday pub crawl.  We wanted to start out at Golden Golpher but for some reason they were closed so a friend suggested Broadway Bar.  This place is so classy.  It reeks of old school charm.  I love the classiness of it.  We were there on a tuesday night and it was completely dead.  Cool for us so we could have the bartenders complete attention.  He was really nice and made our drinks super strong. The drink prices were very reasonable.  I am dying to shoot a band in here.  It would make an awesome back drop.  I really liked this bar and will definitely be back!!!

This place has changed...
I thought it was similar to Golden Gopher, but on a friday night it's loud loud top 40 music and hoards of people crammed inside. Borderline trashy, is what I'm trying to say...which can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your mood. Bar and patio and everywhere are jam packed with people. But really cool interior, and a good place to congregate, drink, and be merry.

Well, there really isn't much to say about this place.

Nice bartenders, OK drinks (not a great variety of beers on tap), dark furniture and dim lighting, looks good enough and if you go with friends and have a few drinks I'm sure it can be home to a good time.

A-OK indeed, but not much stands out.

PS. On the night a few of us came here, this was the meeting place for some kind of orgy meet-up. 50+ year-old horny men and women chose HERE to gather and ummm... converse?

Just for that this place deserves an extra star (or maybe one less star, depending on who you are). I say geriatric orgies are awesome, so good for them.

Broadway Bar essentially has everything you need for a high end neighborhood bar.  Good bartenders, good people, nice patio area, and a nice look on the inside.  I went last night to meet up with some friends, and aside from the fact that there's really not much else going on around the area after 9pm, it's one of the better downtown bars.  It's kinda dead Tuesday nights, so in you're looking for a crowd, probably not your best option.  If you're looking to just chill with some friends, it's great.

I really, really wanted to like this bar.  I'd looked forward to coming here for a while, and it was a total waste of time.

The one star it gets is for the architecture.  It's a beautiful building and I'm very glad they kept it that way.

I came on a weeknight, and it was so crowded my husband and I had to shove our way through the Gorgeous Young People to the bar over about 15 minutes of trying.  Then, as others have pointed out, getting the barkeep's attention was a struggle.  Both the girls were very busy, and they had beautiful moves, faces, and bodies so I have assume that's why they were hired, because the drinks were awful.  At last I ordered a Bloody Mary, and it was one of the two worst I've ever had in my life, as well as one of the most expensive.  I didn't even want to finish it, cost be damned.

Never going back.  There are way too many great bars downtown to waste time and money here.

This place is cool, but has it's flaws...
-very limited seating
-very dark
-iffy hood
-difficult to get drinks
-no rooms=hard to chit chat, only one big lounge and upstairs for the chimneys

Good stuff...
-Decor was nice...but it is dark inside after all
-No cover
-Close to work
-Free street parking
-Crowd is a good mix

Went here for the first time this past weekend for a birthday outing.

Parking was easy and plentiful once we figured out where the hell we wanted to park in the first place. Just a short walk from the bar and only one out of three of us got an eyeful of the homeless man's chode outside.

Got there at around 9.30pm and the place was fairly empty. Stayed that way for a while, but when we left around 1am, it was fairly crowded. Don't think anyone ever had to wait to get in though, which was nice.

The place itself was somewhat small, which was fine when it was just our group of people, but it eventually filled up with others and was a bit sweaty and cramped. Also, it seemed like they let anyone in as long as they weren't shirtless or shoeless. Kinda weird.

If you're with a group like we were, stake out the velvet rope to go upstairs as soon as they open so you can grab the seats for yourself and have a nice little base.

It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst. Don't think I would go back on my own, but if someone else wanted to, I wouldn't be against this.

Two options for parking: street or in the lot right next to them. I forgot how much it costs to park in that lot. Also, hepatitis cart dogs (bacon wrapped, grilled onion hot dogs) conveniently located right outside this bar.

No cover but once in a while this bar gets packed. When that happens, there's this line that forms. A line for a bar? It happens. Some weekend nights are very chilled and not so packed while other nights, it's nuts. No consistency with that either, just fluke nights,

Drinks are average priced, about $8-10ish and are decently made. The place is a nice two story joint and loud dj music playing throughout.

This is a nice, chilled, and casual hang out lounge/bar. Nothing super fancy but a great place to just grab some quick drinks, socialize/mingle, then move onto the next DTLA spot.

This is one classy bar. The look.. the feel of just being at a circular bar is really interesting. While you think it would be a strain on bartending, the workers there didn't miss a step in serving me up some fine alcoholic filled drinks.

In the goal to bring life back to Downtown, this place is doing a great job of not only bringing the blood pumping, but as well as giving it some class. It's one of the most aesthetically pleasing bars. Then again, you could make a bar crawl/small taxi trip to half of the bars in this area and you'll be pleased both in visual as well as thirst.

The upstairs also has a pretty decent size space for lounging. Some comfy places to sit and take in the whole city feel. Especially from the smoking patio. Now that's a great view of Broadway itself. Make a trip to both this and Golden Gopher and you're setting yourself up for some good night life.

I have such a love-hate relationship with this bar.

Service was much better last Saturday night. The bartender (a contender for an upcoming "hot bartender bar crawl") was super nice.

I came in for a birthday party. The front lounge is available for reservations without any money down. But if you want to reserve the top, it's $1000 plus $800 bottle service for two hours. What the heck? I guess the downstairs lounge is the ticket!

I do have to say though, they were too quick to remove the birthday goodies brought in especially from Porto's and the workers feigned ignorance when questioned what happened to the goodies.

If you get there early enough and fancy a snack, the bar keeps menus of nearby eateries that delivery. Good to know!

Overheard conversation:

"Dude, I want a dark bar." Guy pauses while he looks at the drafts.
"I want a Guinness!"
Friend says, "What? You want a what?"
"Or maybe a Newcastle."
Friend orders, "Two Miller Lites."
"What! I want a Guinness!"

Yeah, I didn't talk to those guys...Broadway Bar is still not a good pick-up scene.

I have to be honest. I'm a little biased in this review. I love champagne, and they have a list of champagne cocktails right on the mirrored wall. That grants at least a 3 star review from me.

The bar itself has a great atmosphere, sort of reminiscent of the way "downtown" was seen in decades past. Dark mood lighting, plush furnishings, glittery glass.

Comfortable booth seating and a good-sized patio. Went on a quiet night, but all the better for soaking in the ambiance.

since my previous review was removed by yelp staff, please see below for an abridged version of my previous review:

BROADWAY BAR SUCKS!!

came here for a friend's dirty thirty bday and although the crowd was lively and fun, the backbone of this establishment is horrible.

and by backbone, i mean the bartenders.

we saddled up to the bar to get a drink with crisp cash in hand.......after attempting to make eye contact for well over 35 mins without so much as a look or indication of existence from the bartender, we left and jetted over to SM where we had a blast at gas lite and copa d'oro.

broadway bar, please hire new bartenders that do their job.

I went to the Broadway Bar on Friday night.  For the first hour it was pretty dead and the music was suspect.  Although, the bartender was super cool.  He accidentally splashed a little beer on us, apologized then whipped up some concoction of a shot for us (on the house) and gave us two beers for the price of one.  Dope!

After about 11pm this place started to bubble a little bit.  The DJ stepped his game up and all was right with the night.  With the exception of another bartender who gave my boy lip because she felt like he didn't tip her enough on the last round.  Never mind the fact that we had been drinking and tipping all night.  Hence the 3 stars.  She killed the 4th star for the Broadway bar.

Great local bar to go to and check out if your in the area. No cover, anti hollywood type of location thats sure impress most. Chill atmosphere, no cover, and a fair amount of women to match. Great place to meet up with some friends or take a date out on a Friday night. I have been back multiple times and I will continue to frequent as I am a fan.

Really not bad. I dug the roundy round bar and the bartenders were super nice. We didn't have any trouble flagging down someone for a drink even as it got busier throughout the night.

I like dark bars, and this place was definitely dark. Matthew K. is right when comparing Broadway Bar to the Haunted Mansion! The bathroom kind of scared me. Not that it was dirty, but in a haunted mansion kind of way. I prefer this bar over the Golden Gopher, tho the Gopher is much closer to work.

There is some crazy striped seating in the patio that was all covered in plastic. Just the way mama likes it. Your mama, not mine. Okay, so it was not the most aesthetically pleasing furniture, but I suppose they don't want drunkards spilling drinks into their seat cushions?

Parking was surprisingly easy to find in the small adjacent lot. Mostly because I wasn't driving, but then again, it was Thursday around 8:30ish and the bar was not so busy yet.

$3 Stellas after a certain hour. Around 10pm I think? Not sure if it's an ongoing thing, but I'll try to remember that for next time.

Chill downtown bar.

Still has some growing to do as downtown starts to garner more interest however as events start to pile up at this venue and crowds come a flocking, I'm sure it will eventually be a trendy downtown hotspot.

Great house music on certain nights and with two stories and awesome bloody marys, it's hard to go wrong.

Kudos. I will certainly be back. As long as my friends and I don't get into arguments with random crazies walking around at night.

Any place is fun with the right people and the right alcohol!
Bartender lady was cool and had massive confidence in her skills.  Drinks were excellent, so I'll give her props for that.  Went on a weekday after work... (not from the valley... funny generalization though.) and had a blast!

Lovely atmosphere... great drinks... but a bit pricey.

I will definitely be coming back!

Seriously saw two rats the size of my dog chillin outside the Broadway Bar like the Secret of Nimh.  Had I not already pre-drank and been slightly buzzed, that didn't phase me from entering.

And besides: They carried Chopin on an open tab. Hells yes.

I've been to Broadway Bar a few times, and both times because of the company I was with I had a great time.  Other than that, it's an okay place.  Points for being solidly dark inside.  Downstairs, this place reminds me of the Haunted Mansion (i.e. the wallpaper, the chandelier, etc).  This time around, I was there for a birthday which was being held upstairs.  I never even noticed previously that Broadway Bar has a balcony overlooking ....Broadway.   Since our drinks were on an open tab, we were provided wristbands by the bar.  Outside, there was a side window to order drinks, and I remember it taking forever and a day to get a bartender's attention (Oh--they also don't carry Red Bull, becuase my Chopin and Redbull was really Chopin and Monster.  Of course, not complaining as it wasn't my tab).

I can't really remember the music, or what was being played since most of my time was spent on the outside smoking patio.  I do, however, remember the insanely strong smell of the hotdog venders floating upwards like angels...Overall, a super chill (free no cover) spot to hang out with your buddies and get your drink on!

I don't like feeling ignored at a bar.  Yes, they have this cool looking round bar at the bottom floor, but they are sooooo slow.  I know I don't have boobs or some blonde hair to twirl in the direction of the bartenders, but you'd think a fifty dollar bill in the hand would at least get some attention.

On weeknights, this place is pretty chill... but the neighborhood is still creepy and sketchy with all the boarded up shops on Broadway.  I'd rather go to Golden Gopher or Seven Grand, which are all run by the same team.

Saturday nights here are rather interesting... they play music (hip hop, rock, and house), yet there's no real dance floor.  Most people are here to just chill on the patios or by the bar.  At least there wasn't a line or cover for a Saturday night.  My jack and coke ran me 8 bucks but the beers are 5 or 6 bucks.  Get them from the bar upstairs if you want beer.

Other than the slow service, the space has a pretty nice decor (well in line with those other two bars), but if it weren't my friend's birthday I probably wouldn't have had a good time.

Fun fact: Have you seen the movie 500 days of Summer? Well if you have, think back to the bar/fight scene, and they are at the Broadway Bar. (Downstairs part)

I've been coming to the Broadway Bar for almost a year. However, each time I go, the place seems to change more and more and not necessarily for the better. I feel like this place has become so tacky. Broadway Bar has so much potential & it's sad to see it go to waste.

The only reason for 2 stars is because the decor is so nice (they have a disco ball hanging from the ceiling), and the bar itself is lovely. 2 floors, smoking patios, OK music, and no cover. Also, you can bring food into this place. There were a ton of people with pizza boxes.

Anyway, when I first started coming here this place was so nice, and classy. The last time I was there (9-12-2009) I was so disappointed with this place. I walked in & it smelled like vomit and sweat. It literally took my boyfriend and my friend's boyfriend 20 minutes to buy drinks!!! It was super crowded, I couldn't move at all. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING, apparently a girl decided it would be a good idea to flood the toilet. I am not kidding when I say that there was a huge puddle in the bathroom. When I was walking out some girl fell cause she slipped. Poor girl, she fell in a piss puddle.

Anyway, street parking could be a little tough to find if you arrive late. There is a lot next door to the bar who charges about $5 for parking.

I thought I reviewed this bar a while ago after I visited it the second time around, but perhaps I only wrote it in my head.... anyhow, I mainly like it because of its close proximity to Golden Golpher and because of the first floor round bar decor.

That said, it can be pretty hard to get a drink in here, and we usually wait 5-10 minutes for a drink which seems like an eternity of course. From what I recall, the drinks do their job well though. I do like that it's pretty crowded the couple of times I've been there, and the crowd ranges in age and everything else though everyone usually looks pretty good.  Initially, I thought there was room to dance on the second floor but there's not, although they do play Top 40.

*I forgot to mention that I also like Broadway Bar because every time my mom and I (NorCal natives) watch the final fight scene in Transformers, I point out Broadway Bar amid the chaos and yell "I've been there!"

Cool place. Getting drinks was fast, didn't have to wait. We went upstairs to the balcony which was awesome! Even better, if you're on the balcony and want to get another drink you just step up to the bar window, so you don't need to go back inside. Double awesome!!!

The only drawback I experienced was street parking - there was none. But other than that, I'd go back again.

Broadway Bar is easy on the eyes.  It's got a pretty cool layout, two different bars, and a layer of old school downtown charm that I've always liked.   If the crowd wasn't so odd, I'd give this place four stars.  For some reason I always get stuck in between the USC frat kids and someone's accountant, but it's not that bad.  It's nice inside and they pour a decent drink.  Recommended during the week.  Or tonight.  If you message me now and offer to buy me several cocktails.

Thumbs down.
It's too bad this place is so gorgeous.
Made the mistake of going on a Saturday night (for my birthday no less).
Douchebag city.
Overpriced drinks.
Meat market atmosphere.
3 strikes.

Didn't even finish the night, headed home at about midnight after some bitch knocked my drink off my table and all over my shoes.

Massive fail.

This place still ranks at 5 stars with me! I went here to celebrate my birthday and I STILL love it. Parking was a bit more this time around, which makes sense especially if you have the Pink Floyd Experience right next door, so all kinds of crowds appeared that night. A mix of my friends were here that night, LA County and Orange County, and no one had a problem getting drinks. I think it's because we've all been behind the bar once and we know how to treat our bartenders.

Out of common courtesy I did contact the bar to inform them of my festivities (my birthday!) and they were very accomodating in terms of informing me of possible places to eat before and after. They also reserved a booth for me. The security guard was very courteous, and the bartenders of the night made excellent drinks.

A pleasant experience and I hope to return.

Was here this past Friday with a group of about 10...all of whom had a good time.  No cover and no hassle getting in, normal drink prices, great atmosphere and bartenders.  It's almost a shame it's in downtown LA. Other reviews have mentioned the lack of beers on tap, which is definitely true, but not a deal-breaker.  Didn't pay a ton of attention to the crowd, but did notice it was fairly eclectic (in a good way).
