Lovely hotel,  rooms remind me of the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Los Angeles, solid and perfect.

The hotel is very carefully developed with a large commercial side, boutiques, cafes and restaurants, I found the restaurants to be OK but not as good as expected, though I did not try the top restaurant as I refuse dining at hotel restaurants which demand jacket and dress shoes, Im from LA for havens sake and on vacation... a designer shirt and classy sneakers ought to do the trick.

The staff was A+ super friendly, very responsive, professional and efficient.  this is a hotel I will return to many times in the future.

We took my Grandma here for a Sunday brunch as it is one of her favorite past times.  I definitely suggest making reservations in advance as we tried changing out reservation time 2 days before and they were already booked solid!

The drive to the hotel is beautiful of course as you are going straight towards the mountain line.  The surrounding neighborhood is well manicured and gives a good idea of what is in store.

The hotel grounds are massive and no detail is forgotten.  We valet parked at the front, and were immediately met as we pulled up.  Doors were opened for us as we stepped inside the 1920s beauty!  We walked around the hotel a bit, and checked out the lake in the back.  Quite a place to take some pictures if you have a few moments to spare.  There is also a bar that has outdoor seating next to the lake, which would be a nice place to unwind,.

The buffet was just as amazing as the hotel!  We were immediately seated and asked for our drink order, then we hit the offerings.  None of us were disappointed in the selection, and we all went home satisfied!

Would definitely be a thing to do if you are in the Colorado Springs area.  I give it 4 stars as it is not a place for everyone, the prices are a bit high and I am not sure I would bring children.

Well, I'm not really fancy enough to stay at a place like this. But it was the honeymoon, so I guess exceptions can be made, yeah?

Our room was the most standard, frugal option on the board. It was huge. The bed was obscenely comfortable, we had a balcony, big TV, giant bathroom and a desk and table and chairs. This room was practically bigger than my entire apartment. And it was nice! The decor was eh, southwest meets some crazy rich lady, but it had local art on the wall. Props to that.

The pool was lovely, when it wasn't raining. It was heated, clean and I didn't smell like chemicals when I came out! There was always some pool chairs ready and the poolside service was good.

The service on a whole was excellent. People knew my name (a little creepy!) and said hello whenever they walked by. Coming from NYC, this was jarring. Not just a little, either. But good service!

They have a movie theater for free, and they rotate a few movies through the week, and then change it up. It's a pretty nice little theater, comfy seats, good sound. Of course, this and the pool are the only free things. Everything else has a charge, minimal or moderate, from paddle boats to bikes to airport shuttles. Not that unusual, I suppose, but still a little sad. I guess I'm just not old money enough to not care.

I read Amy C.'s comment about it not being that kid-friendly, even though it's touted to be. Eh, they have daycare and kid events, but the dining options would be lacking if you don't want to hit up the Penrose Room all the time, haha. (I saw some very well behaved kids there, a whole 8person table!) So kids mostly go to the pool and paddle boat and harass the ducks. Not much else.

The food options were mostly good and they were pretty good about dealing with food allergies. They have about six restaurants for lunch/dinner, a breakfast buffet (so fancy) and a couple bar-ish types, all ranging in price.

They also have spa options and a killer golf course, from what I hear. Neither are my thing, so adventurer it is up to you.

Overall, I would come again if I could save up in time to go. The surrounding mountains are beautiful, the service is amazingly top-notch, the rooms are comfortable and there are things to do.

I don't play Lotto but this place is the reason I would start.  We had a wonderful stay and everything was 5 star.   We ended up dining at Blue Star (will write a separate review).  The spa was amazing and the public spaces are impressive.  Brunch was expensive but the selection was the best I have ever experienced - I just don't eat enough to justify.  If we win the lotto - this is where I would have our reception. Send me a scratch off please.

Haven't stopped raving about the Broadmoor.  In fact, I am already planning another visit.  All my friends laughed when I told them I was excited about going to Colo Spgs for the weekend, until I said I was staying at the Broadmoor - instant awe!

Everything was beautiful - There is no such thing as a bad view here.  Our room overlooked the lake.  The beds were comfortable.  The staff are welcoming and friendly, in a good way rather than the I'm working for your tip way.

If you have money left over, definitely splurge at the spa - I haven't been that relaxed after a spa day in a long time.  Played some tennis [loved my drills class and the clay courts] but missed out on gol.  Definitely next time!

Not too long ago, I flew out to Colorado for the wedding of my dear friends Rachel and Joe. Although I was not an overnight guest at The Broadmoor, I spent most of my time here.

The pure elegance of this resort can only be described as a combination of historical beauty and modern efficiency. Victorian and stately, the hotel's main building is set slightly into the earth, and rises up to meet the mountainous skyline. There is a lovely, very small man-made lake, located one floor up from the Main Entrance on their Mezzanine level. It was here at their Hotel Bar that I spent quite a lot of my time. The Hotel Bar is heavily carved in maple and dark oak, and emits a warm atmosphere. Their wine list is pretty extensive, and they make a great Mandarin Orange Cosmo. There is also a terrace with a stone fireplace outdoors that borders the lake.

The actual wedding was beautiful, held on a lawn near the lake. The dinner reception was held in the Main Ballroom, I believe, as well as on the Front Terrace over the entry. From this vantage point, one can gaze down at the British Hedge Garden as deer walked among the park. The food was also quite good - the main dish being the steak and trout.

Another part of the hotel I loved was the Pool Side Resort. The Bride, Groom, myself and a few select guests lounged here the day after the wedding. Complete with changing rooms and large umbrellas, this portion of the man-made lake is a wave pool that guests can swim in. Waiters would come around and take our drink orders. It was very, very nice. The service in all parts of the hotel was impeccable. I really want to stay here for a weekend sometime.

When my plane took off for California, there were tears streaming down my face...not because of the wedding, but because of how much I miss that Hotel Bar... DISCLAIMER: I came here in late August of 2008, so things may have changed. But I have a feeling its still one of the best resorts around.

Thank God for company conferences, because I never would have been able to afford this luxury by myself.

I kept referring to this place as a "compound" until someone classier than me informed me it was a campus. Anyway, it is a campus. It's not just one building, it's in the double digits.

I'm not used to fancy digs and awesome, posh settings like this, so I was naturally blown away. Everything is clean and polished, the staff is friendly and always in abundance and the food was pretty good as well.

I wish the eggs at the breakfast buffet were done better, but I have yet to find a place outside of my own kitchen that does scrambled eggs the way I like them.

I think the most surprising thing to me was the fact that this amazing hotel is located in Colorado Springs. I just never expected something the beautiful and lavish to be located in Colorado Springs.

Well done, Springs. Well. Done.

I used to come here as a child in the early '90s to feed to ducks on the pond.  I have long since moved away, but after a 16-year-long absence it was nice to see my old stomping grounds again.  The Broadmoor still holds appeal to me after all this time, although with a more grown-up appreciation.

The Broadmoor Hotel is nothing like how I remembered it, but it I still had a fabulous time outside the bar on its stone terrace.  It's pretty swanky with an appetizing dinner menu, decent cocktail list, and even a cigar menu (a little ironic considering the healthy mountain air, but whatever floats your boat).  However, it is very expensive.  If you plan to go, get ready to spend quite a bit of money or eat before you get there.  We opted for only cocktails and appetizers to keep the bill down, but with a group of good friends, ample conversation making up for lost time, and the cocktails being pretty good, we wound up paying a lot by the end of the night anyway.

It really is a nice place to spend a lengthy summer evening, even if you just want to sit and enjoy conversation.  With gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains, a large historic hotel to get lost in, and a cute little pond to stroll around, there's plenty to enjoy.  While I wish it was more affordable, that's about all I'd like to see changed.

Not everything is perfect at the Broadmoor, but it's a 5-star resort that almost always lives up to that standard. The decor is quite traditional (I prefer a modern, minimalist approach) -- but so what? The service is fantastic, and the place is gorgeous. They treat all customers with respect, like we're royalty, which is much appreciated by those of us who aren't.

Have been there several times, and returned for 3 days last weekend. It was fantastic. And wow, are they accommodating to pets -- 5 minutes after we arrived in our room, they brought my standard poodle Petey a dog tag, food and water dishes, snacks, and a bed (when I made the reservation, they asked what size dog he was, to make sure they brought the right size amenities). Everywhere Petey went, the staff went out of their way to greet him.

We ate at the Summit, which is a newer restaurant in the conference center -- beautiful, modern decor with new American food. Yum! The coffee is always good in the espresso bar, the food at the Golden Bee is tasty pub food in a warm, fun atmosphere. The fitness center isn't the best, but it's very respectable. It's nice to be somewhere the staff truly wants you to be happy.

Nice touch: When the bellman came to retrieve our bags for checkout, he offered to help confirm we'd packed all our cell phone chargers, emptied dresser drawers, etc.

Fun extravagance: Don't we all need a touch screen to control our lights, TV, radio, and drapes? I loved it.

I know the Broadmoor is a 5 star resort and it totally deserves it.  The reason I give it 3 stars is because this is supposed to be a family friendly resort and I just don't think that is the case.  The rooms are awesome and so is the staff.  The staff went above and beyond to make you feel great. My problem with the resort is that if it is such a family friendly resort of there 5 plus restaraunts only 3 would be kid friendly and that is pushing it.  We were there for 8 days and even with all of our outings it got old having only a few options for dinner with the kids.

I never expected something so fantastic in Colorado. No offense! But this kind of surrounding is something I would find in NYC. The fact it's so classy didn't deter from the prices and such. Though it's worth it if you're here to relax or just explore the hotel, then splurge away! It's so elegant and if you're like me, you'd love the area for Yoga in the morning.

The Victorian architecture is just simply gorgeous. And since i spent the weekend here with three friends, just makes everything more enjoyable. All the staff were very courteous and helpful even when one of the guys turned up late one night (completely smashed), That's just two stars right there! The other two would be to the aforementioned Yoga/surroundings, just one of the few activities they have daily. And the final star is for the food! I'm a big foodie, and the restaurants and cafe's don't disappoint you. Delicious all the way.

Great experience. And it was pretty romantic at times. Loved the suites we stayed in!

The Penrose Room restaurant is contained within the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The views from the top of the Broadmoor Hotel were spectacular. In terms of providing a classic fine dining head chef on staff experience, the Penrose Room is the best in Colorado Springs. While I was eating dinner, the Penrose Room had live music and the atmosphere was fantastic. I had a great salad, quality steak, and a chocolate desert. Everybody at the table enjoyed the meal. The price is the only limiting factor, but some meals are more expensive than others are.

Wow...what a fab hotel -- or should I say resort.  There is so much to this property.

I've stayed here 2x.  Once in a standard room, once in a suite.  The standard room is pretty standard, but the suite is just amazing.  As someone mentioned "Stately", with real windows that open ( It's the small things), shabby chic' furniture, and a bed which screams COMFY !!

The provided robes were so luxurious, that you never wanted to dress, but I'm glad we did, as we had a wonderful dinner with dancing that evening.

The 2nd time was a special occasion, and the BF surprised me with having the Broadmore deliver treats to the room.  Flowers, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries were waiting for me upon arrive.\
NICE

The grounds are beautiful, the staff helpful, food wonderful.  What more could one ask for --- oh yeah, another night please !!

This is one classy compound, a real standout in Colorado.  I didn't have the opportunity to stay here but did some work at a conference held here.  The ornate ballrooms are like snapshots of grandeur, a perfect venue for stately wedding receptions.   Being a former hospitality employee, I could tell that the staff were trained well; they were all polite, professional, and sincere.  The decor was welcoming, no presence of cold, austere over the top modern interiors here.  It was like an elegant tea room with plush couches and antique like chairs that welcome tete a tete.  It may have been just me but when I walked in the main building, I smelled winter pine with a hint of brown sugar or something of the sort, that was a nice touch.

Aside from the gaudy decor, the hotel is pretty great.  It's huge and fun to walk around outside by the lake.  The room was really nice.  The bed was comfy and the bathroom was great.  It had a huge tub with a window opening to the rest of the room.   They are super pet friendly.  At check-in, they gave our dogs some Broadmoor dog tags (pointless, yes, but still nice).  Five minutes after we got to our room, someone came to the door with two huge fluffy dog beds, two bowls, and two gift bags of treats.  We ate at Tavern, which was pretty good, but there are quite a few other dining options in or around the hotel.  There is also some shopping, but it is all a little to snobby for my taste.

So, I went to the Broadmoor Bar and had some cocktails, while watching the thunderstorm roll in over the rocky mountains.  Love it here!  I've been to the Broadmoor Hotel a number of times and always have a nice time and continue my longtime love affair with this hotel from the 1800's.

Today, in particular and the reason for my review is because of an employee.  I am here visiting family and needed a recommendation for an excellent breakfast place.  An employee came up to my table and told me about a cafe in Manitou Springs which was excellent.  I said, "that sounds great, can you write that down for me?"  She asked me how many people and what time.
Five minutes later, she returns with a card with my reservations made, under my name and also directions.  Talk about "WOW" customer service.  It's nice to know people will do something nice without even being asked to do so.

Breakfast this morning was well worth the drive to Manitou and we left with a happy party of four!!

Thank you so much for going above and beyond!!

I really loved my experience at the Broadmoor and I think the critisims I do have are becuase of an unusual event (or maybe not) that was happening the day I left.

First of all, the hotel, the grounds, the staff, the service...all 5-star.  Seriously, I travel a lot for work and this place is up there in quality.  The best and I mean BEST is the bed.  Hilton and Marrott have nothing on the beds at the Broadmoor.

Now for the negative.  Here I am in an amazing, tranquil environment and all week long all I heard throughout the day was leaf blowers, lawn mowers and walkways being cleaned.  This is not what I want to hear all day long while I'm trying to relax.

Last, the service sucked the last two days there and areas of the hotel were unusable.  I'm not talking about sections of the golf course or areas like that, but why the deck outside the fitness center or the patio by the lake?  When I asked why I was being kicked out of the deck near the fitness pool, I was told it was to prepare for the US Senior Open.  Can't they do that at night when someone who is paying for the hotel is using the area?

The history of Colorado Springs is intimately intertwined with the name Penrose, and it was Spencer Penrose who turned an old gambling casino into a world-class luxury resort on the edge of the Front Range.

The best parts of the Broadmoor:

Walking along the manmade lake and watching the swans

Having a drink in the Golden Bee - an English Tavern brought to the site from London

Wandering the luxurious hallways of Broadmoor West

Ice Skating at the Arena (okay, this is gone, but I still remember learning not to fall on my butt on ice skates here)

I love taking weekend trips to the BroAdmoor to pamper myself.  The Broadmoor Hotel Spa is one of the best I have been to and exemplifies the entire experience at the Broadmoor: relaxation & indulgance.  The Penrose Room has a great ambiance, serves incredible dishes and provides impecable service.  Also for another restaurant to try checkout Charles Court that too have excellent food and service.  The rooms are luxurious and comfortable. The grounds are nicely mantained, and the fitness center is top notch.  The BroAdmoor also provides some of the best views of Colorado Springs.  The BroAdmoor is definately a place to check even if for a day so that you can pamper yourself and have a wonderful expereince!

Minus the hotel we stayed at for our honeymoon (I can't wait until Yelp goes international!), this is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed at.  Hands down.  No questions asked.  Seriously.

You drive up this winding road into the mountains and behold this huge hotel (well two huge main buildings) and it is completely surrounded by beautiful trees.  Everything is green (I obviously went before winter).  The service was impeccable.  Polite and courteous with plenty of knowledge.  The rooms were gorgeous.  Enormous and clean with a separate study area, huge shower (I usually hate hotel bathrooms), and a gorgeous view from your window.  There's a beautiful lake with a quaint bridge.  They have a few restaurants (very expensive, but very delicious--plus, you're so far away it would take 30 minutes to into town for a meal anyway!) worth checking out.  I left so impressed by the service, I vowed to go back again.  I'm not a winter person, but I have a feeling it would be even more beautiful covered in snow.

This place strikes me as a little creepy, just because it is so large.  I practically got lost in the spa and it felt like one could get lost in the myth of luxury so much that it might become reality.  Sterile and quiet, it evokes a sense of calm, of blankness, that is dangerously attractive.  Sort of like a mental institution, without the psychos.  Don't get me wrong, the staff was fabulous.  Just not my type of place.

A nationally-known resort, the Broadmoor certainly lives up to it's reputation with splendor and luxury, and if you don't find it ironic passing through blue-collar slightly-depressed Colorado Springs into the lap of aforementioned luxury, or spending a good chunk of change, you'll probably love it.

My date and I landed a very nice suite with all the amenities, most peculiar being a command-central a/v control bedside with automatic shade opener and remotes to all light switches in the room.  Aside from the two plasma screen tvs, I also appreciated the jacuzzi tub which was opened into the bedroom via shutters.  You get the picture.

The grounds are indeed stunning and serene and present a stark contrast to the razor-toothed Rockies in the background.  There is a giant pond (also called Cheyenne Lake) with gorgeous black and white swans that glide along the glassy surface as if they had been there since King Arthur.  A bridge spans the pond on which guests have to traverse to reach rooms, the spa, and the main entrance.  Very clever.

The food was respledent and exhorbitantly priced, as expected.  I am not sure as to any guest's actual ability to consume as much as one would like at the Sunday brunch, which could literally keep me occupied for days, as long as it all stayed fresh.

I was quite pleased to find myriad pianos dotting the grounds, and was able to play one in the far North end of the main building unnoticed by anyone but the maintenance guys setting up for the next corporate event.  The art in this building was really wonderful, and once again struck me as very odd, since we were in conservative Colorado Springs, home of the Air Force and, uh, a dearth of art.

This is a grand, stately hotel with comfortable rooms and service that's just a touch on the stuffy side. I get the feeling that the protocols were designed to make the rich feel at home even if their servants weren't around!

The room was great - even a standard room in the western annex is very impressive. The bed and robe were delightful, and the Summit restaurant was amazing!  There's an on-site movie theater, a fancy fitness center, a large indoor pool, and two outdoor lap lanes.

I thought the Broadmoor was a real treat, and I stay in hotels close to 100 nights a year, so I have high standards and plenty to compare it to.

Amazing views, rooms, food and hospitality!

In a city that makes you feel like you went back to middle America circa 1980, the Broadmoor is a gem amongst the rednecks, church goers and few normal folks that make up that town.

And don't forget to go across the street to the Golden Bee!

The wife and I got married in the Broadmoor Hotel in one of their private conference rooms.  While it was quite expensive (hey, we're talking about the Broadmoor), it was one of those moments in my life that I will never forget.  Its due to the Broadmoor staff (event coordinators, catering staff, etc.) that helped to make it one of the greatest days in my life.  We have had several opportunities to dine there since then, solidifying our opinion of one of the finest establishments in the Colorado Springs area.

OK, I just got back from this place a few days ago. My bf's work had a large function here so we stayed for 3 days.
Well, we didn't have a rental car so it was like you were stuck at this resort. Which means you pretty much had to eat somewhere on the premises for all 3 meals.
Being vegan I thought OK, this place is a 5 star resort they'll have a veggie burger or some kind of vegan friendly option....NOT the case.
I ate pasta with veggies the entire time I was there. For breakfast forget about it, you're options are a banana or apple.
I called room service to inquire about a veggie burger or tofu option and the gentleman's response was "We have a turkey burger, is that close enough?"....hmm...hello??!
One of the funniest (not at the time but looking back)  things was that we had planned a white water rafting trip through the resort well I guess they made a vegan b-fast box for me and a vegetarian box from my bf. We get onto the bus with our b-fast boxes and I'm curious to see what could possibly be in my box.
The contents: whole milk yogurt, 2% chocolate cows milk, and a granola bar with milk ingredients...hmm...I'm thinking they don't know what the term "vegan" means..even though it was written on the box.
So I was left to eat nothing for about 9+ hours until we got back from our rafting trip.
(for the record there were 4 vegetarians in our group)
Overall the staff was ULTRA friendly and attentive and the resort itself was breathtakingly beautiful but if you're a vegetarian or vegan you will HAVE to have a rental car and buy your own food beforehand (that is, if your room happens to have a fridge--ours did not)

Opened in 1918, this landmark luxury resort underwent a massive renovation, completed in 2002, that restored it to its original glory. How many hotels own a priceless art collection with original work by Toulouse-Lautrec and authentic Ming dynasty ceramics? Behind the main building is Cheyenne Lake, with a swimming complex featuring water slides, two hot tubs, private cabanas, and a cafe. Accommodations occupy a series of separate buildings centered on the lake and pool area. Spacious rooms are beautifully decorated in European style, with ornate chandeliers and imported fabrics. Most units hold two double beds or one king, a desk, plush seating, two-line portable phones, and dataports, and provide Internet access through Web TV. Facilities include eleven restaurants, four lounges, three swimming pools (including one indoors), two 18-hole golf courses, nine all-weather tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center and full-service spa with aerobics classes, bicycle rentals, stables, a fly-fishing school, and a movie theater. Not surprisingly, service is impeccable throughout. Once you check in, it will be difficult to find a reason to leave the impeccably-manicured grounds. Rack rates start at $230.

If you ever have to travel to Colorado Springs, you have to stay at least once at the Broadmoor.   This hotel defines luxury.   Everything in the hotel...from the lobby...restaurants....bedrooms.....bathroom.   The bathroom was done entirely of Italian marble from walls to floor...to even the shower. Alot has been said about this hotel in the other reviews so all I have to say is....You owe it to yourself to stay here at least once.

Tries extremely hard to be a lot more than it is. I still kind of laugh at the prices they try to charge here and the attitude they try to effect. I laugh and then I realize there aren't really that many other decent places to stay in the springs. La Quinta?

Well when you tout yourself as a longstanding 5 star resort you will be scrutinized. The hotel is very nice and the grounds are very pretty.  The walk in the snow from the main building was on a snow covered path, not impressed. The room I had in the south tower was very nice thou not large. Fancy electronic bedside controls for the TV, lights and blinds are swank. Complimentary coffee/tea was nice thou short of supplies of sugar etc. The pool area was nice but the pool was not warm enough for my winter stay and the outdoor hot tub was supported by a loose guide rail just begging you to fall. But the rooms and the general areas are not exceedingly stellar. The reason the place gets 5 stars is their golf course and the large number of fine dining options. The new Summit restaurant is very nice, the Tavern is solid, the Golden Bee has upgraded it's food and it needed it. The one thing about this place that permeates the hotel is stuffiness, very stuffy. I know that is what must people with too much money and expense account high-end conventioneers want that but I found it to be too much.  I certainly have stayed at least a handful of nicer hotels thou they may not have had a championship gold course.

when i was little, my mom would take me to the broadmoor to walk around and spy on the world-class hotel. we never stayed there though. it's pretty much where the filthy rich stay. and filthy rich i am not. i did get to stay at the broadmoor over christmas this past year for an ultra cheap price.  and i'm so glad i did.  everyone--from the valet to the front desk to the bellhop--is ridiculously nice. the rooms have a country elegance to them and big comfy beds. there's a turn down service in the evening, so upon returning to your room, you'll find soft music playing and a mint on the pillow. of course, one does not go to the broadmoor to just stay locked up on their room the whole time. walk around! there's so much to be covered. walk down the hallway with photos of all of the celebrities who have stayed at the hotel. or take stroll around the beautiful grounds and lake. have an evening drink in the pub-like Hotel Bar.  dine at one of their amazing restaurants. the one thing to remember when visiting the broadmoor, bring a hefty wallet.
