Love this place!
Good music, great people, and the atmosphere is one of the best.
It has a great floor set up, and the people are really fun and nice here. The drinks are amazing, good price too.
This is my go-to place. Friday nights, Saturday nights, even Tuesdays. I'd recommend it to anyone. -

Brix vs. Splash : A Battle of San Jose Gay Bars (a direct comparison)
Lines:
Brix has no lines, ever. Splash has lines out the door and more frustrating, up to the second level. I have waited twenty minutes to get into the door, then waited another twenty minutes to get upstairs (where the ONLY bathrooms are located. WINNER - BRIX
Cover:
Brix, for the most part has no cover on the weekend. The only time there is a $5 cover is when there are special events. I can appreciate that. Splash's cover changes, starting at $7-8 on a Friday/Saturday, then going down to $6 at 1:00am. WINNER - BRIX
Bartenders/Drinks:
The bartenders at Brix are fantastic. The know how to make a STRONG cocktail, their double's are only a dollar more. Most drinks max out at $7 ($8 for a double which will kick your ass). Splash can't make a cocktail to save their lives. Do yourself a favor and make them use a jigger or you WILL be shorted. It has happened every single time I have been there, I am the second most checked in person on Yelp, you do the math. Also, splash dupes you, charging $7.5 for a short bucket cocktail and $12-14 for a tall.
WINNER - BRIX
Atmosphere:
This one is a tie for me. Brix is comfortable, while Splash has a more SF feel.
Overall...can anyone guess who comes out the winner? Brix is by far the most superior bar in San Jose. If you want to get drunk, then come here. If you want to waste your time waiting in line, paying outrageous prices (btw. if you think I am cheap, look at the rest of my reviews...they speak for themselves), and leaving sober, then by all means go to Splash. Also, come see the cabaret show on Sundays, its a damn good time.
BRIX FOR THE WIN! -

You! I wanna take you to a gay bar!
We totally were singing that on the way to Brix.
In high spirits, we discovered $1 drinks! Yes please! They make a delicious gimlet, but the tom collins was a tad too sweet. Bartender had a brain fart on how to make one, but for a dollar that is totally okay. Bonus: drink portions are HUGE like wtf. Okay, not HUGE but definitely more than what I had expected.
Bartender and bouncer were really friendly people. Bouncer was not afraid to get into a mini conversation with my friend about her shoes, and the bartender was attentive and really nice.
It's a really comfortable place to be. Crowd is older, but that is okay because older men and women tend to dress nicer than the younger crowd. -

Yummy and beautiful! The staff is fabulous, friendly and hot! The GoGo dancers make me smile. It's a perfect place for me as a Lezzie and my Gay boy friends. We all enjoy the dancing, awesome drink specials and fun vibe. I drive over an hour to play here and for the past couple years I've never been disappointed...:-)

Hello Dallas!
How cute is it that my date from the other night, wanted to stop into this pad for a quick drink, as we waited for room at Original Joe's down the street!
Straight guy + Gay club = Awkward is what you'd think, right?
WRONG!
This was the absolute best idea for drinks just before diner. Brix is so chill and down to earth, for a night club, especially a gay club.
If your squeamish about two guys having drinks together, then move to a conservative state. Other than that... if you can handle the hard core grinding in any-given straight club, then you'll do fine with two chicks holding hands or God forbid, a peck or two!
Our bartender, Dallas, made the worlds best lemon-drop. Loads of sugar on the rim, just like I like it. And would you believe he's only been bartending for a few months.
I'm in love.
Next time I wanna get a "real drink" downtown, I'll be sure to stop by Brix! -

Even before Splash re-opened, this place is the shit.
Dear homo's in the south bay: YOU'RE GAY. START LOVING IT. Don't be afraid to like Kylie, Beyonce, Madonna, and shows like I Love Lucy, Keeping Up With Appearances, Ru Paul, actress Anna Faris.
Movies on Sunday with free popcorn - get your asses out the house and live a little. FREE. Who doesn't like that!?
Amazing drinks, super sweet staff, the owners are so amazing and still hanging in there (until Splash flops AGAIN).
Yes, their drinks may be a bit pricey, but you need to realize you're getting an LA style pour - see how much Stoli they give you? Ok, Stoli isn't my fav, but they have many top shelf vodkas on hand. AND THEY HAVE REDBULL!
This is what a gay bar should be. Comfy, roomy, killer sound, music videos, a great patio, hard as hell drinks... and I love the fact that they have two massive pride flags hanging up too, and the front of the building is all rainbow'd out too.
Plus it's right across from a parking lot - you drunk queens that can't handle your White Russians can easily cross the street and stumble back to your fag-mobile - holla!
Brix all the way! Plus they recently started using 5 STARS - you get a FREE card, and when you buy drinks, they scan it. After 10 drinks (or so many points) YOU GET A FREE DRINK. It's also good at many eateries, cafes, patisseries around the bay area. Spend, scan and get free drinks at a totes amazing nightclub.
Honey, you know where to go - Splash is your sweatbox and if you enjoy waiting 10+ minutes to pee hoping you wont miss your fav music video... you're wrong. Buh-bye, Brix is the place to be. -

My friend used to drag me here on random days..!!!
The location is nice! There used to be a hookah bar next door, so we'd always hookah first then hop in here for some drinks. It's pretty small inside and they have a bar right in the middle which also serves as a stage for their go-go dancers! Drinks are pretty cheap and their bartenders are pretty cool. plus NO COVER! Another plus is that they have an outside area! If you wanna see this place "crackin" then come around midnight... It doesn't get packed till then.
Crowd's okay... It's usually the older crowd that goes here. I guess that explains why they play the kind of music they do here.
+1 for cheap and good drinks!
+1 NO cover!
+1 for cool staff/bartenders! -

Yes, I know this is a GAY bar, my friend and I went here last night because Brix has karaoke night on Tuesdays. Nothing better than a bunch of drunks trying to sing. It was a pretty dead night since it was Tuesday but it didn't matter. I met my friend and his brother there since they wanted to sing and I just wanted to be out of the house for a bit.
The prices for their alcoholic beverages here seemed cheap but our first round of beers were super cheap because my friends brother works at Brix, so we got hooked up. The service was cool pretty fast still considering it was a dead night. The bartenders were friendly and was also singing from time to time.
Brix has adequate room has a club. It has a couple booths to sit at and in the back area there is a outdoor area with tables chairs and benches with also a small bar to buy your drinks. They have a projector that show a video up on the wall. -

The best two things I like about this place is music and music!...A loud sound when you are hit is always awesome, I like to watch these laser lights on the floor its pretty.
Though I am straight I like this place since its full of music and lights...bar tenders are very kind...I don't like some people coming and saying to me this a gay bar and I am not welcomed that sucks !!
Anyways have fun. -

Came here for my gay friends Will's bday. It was an intresting experience, overall it was fun. They had a male gogo dancer and we tiped him some $ to give our friend a dance. Fun night, filled with lots of shots. Please note it is cash only at the bar.

Dear management, we are people and have feelings too.
There are more people in Santa Clara county than SF county by almost a million but all of the LGBT continue to go to SF. This bar is that reason. The management of this bar has no concept of how to facilitate a proper customer relationship within the context of the 21st century. No matter how drunk and close to alcohol poisoning one may become at this bar, the bar tenders will NOT serve tap water due to the management's stringent policy. Shouldn't my five dollar cover on a Saturday provide the tap water that the bar pays a menial amount of money for? Apparently not. This is just the start of the reasons not to go to Brix. Their website is inadequate. Their drinks are mediocre at best. And their management is downright degrading to the LGBT community of Santa Clara county. The silicon valley is full of young lgbt & money, but this bar neglects that fact to the very end.
My recommendation to the LGBT of Santa Clara county: venture outward to SF, LA, Seattle, Portland, or SF. All are far superior in terms of the LGBT experience. This place is not worth your time or money. -

Friday night 9/23/11
Being an out of towner I did not like paying a cover especially when there were less than 50 people in the bar. I arrived about 11p. If I were management or owner perhaps don't charge cover till 12m. To attract more people. All the straight clubs were very busy near by. Patio is great. Staff seemed friendly. -
Review from Garett T.
Inside and outside spots, dancers on top of the bar, and very effective AMFs keep me coming back. Oh yeah, and if you look hard enough, you might even meet someone!
Be sure to go in the much later hours, though, if you want the full crowd. -
Review from Phil H.
Santa Clara, CA
Drinks are okay here. The music sucks. I have never been to a gay dance club that didn't play Madonna, Lady Gaga, or Britney....... until I went to Brix. The crowd here is pretty lame, and $5 doesn't help the situation.
Maybe when more gay clubs open up, there might be pressure to improve. SJ gay scene almost makes a trip to SF worth it. -
Review from Ashley W.
Saratoga, CA
Brix is my favorite place in town and the best gay club between San Francisco and LA! Everyone is always welcome here, the drinks are cheap (I don't know why the summary says $$), and the patrons/bartenders are wonderful. The music is often loud inside, but if you'd like to sit and talk with your friends on a weekday there's lots of seating on the back patio.
There are drink specials every night, most notably, Monday's Power Hour between 10-11pm when all well cocktails are $1! Unfortunately, this brings out a trashier crowd than is usually found here.
A public service announcement: PLEASE tip the bartender well during Power Hour. They work their asses off and the cheap jerks who flock in for the $1 deal will buy 4 cocktails, pay with a $5, and take their change. Stay home and make your own damn drink if you don't appreciate the person doing it for you!
The big broad guy is a very professional and talented bartender. He even has his own drink, the Mandarin Express, and it's delicious. There's also a new semi-butch lady bartender who is very friendly and excited to serve you lol. I look forward to seeing more of her :)
My only issue is the $2 water bottles. When you have customers who pay good money to get drunk, they deserve free water when it's time to sober up.
Tuesdays are karaoke night which is always amazing in the worst way! lol Lots of gay guys come out to showcase their best Barbara ballads. Some evenings there are live drag shows and most nights there are go-go dancers on the bar. Overall, a great time for minimal cash! Straight or gay, best place in San Jose!
A note to Stephanie W.: Yes, gay guys don't buy straight girls drinks. If you can't buy your own $3 Kamikazes, strap on your heels and strut into your favorite straight club. A skeezy dude in an Ed Hardy hat would love to buy your drink for the right to follow you around all night.
***Update: They've opened a patio bar as well as patio DJ on the busier nights and I dig it! This is the only place to dance it out on Saturday night! -

Definetly worth it.
Been coming to brix now since it opened as HUNTERS back in 08. Cheap drinks, cool bar tenders, their fast and efficient. There is one bar tender I do stay away from because he has short changed me so many times, and others have complained about him.
But other then that, its a cool place. Cover is only on weekends $5.
Patio is nice now that they have re-done it and added a bar in the back. -

$3 on a Wednesday- SERIOUSLY?! Who has cash in their wallets these days, and three Ones at that. That three dollars could have been used for the dancer at the bar.
There was 14 of us that wanted to dance. It was well past midnight and the joint wasn't even full. They could have gotten more out of us from drinks if we were just let in. I guess it was Single Barrel who made out like bandits after that disappointment. -

Man Jose just continues to disappoint.
My (gay) best friend and I came here on a Tuesday night to watch the karoake, which was hilarious(ly awful). The worst thing about being a straight girl in a gay bar is that, well, gay guys don't exactly buy straight girls drinks.
That's almost okay, though, because Brix's drinks aren't really worth paying for, especially with a rude bartender.
- Water: $2. Bartender told me they don't have tap water, though obviously every soda gun has the ability to spew tap water.
- Kamikaza: $3. Tuesday night's drink special, but it tasted like water.
- Sex on the Beach: $5. Also a Tuesday night special, and it tasted like juice.
- Cosmo: $EIGHT. For this tiny little glass and a drink that tasted like...wait for it... water.
Also everything was served in plastic cafeteria cups.
If not for the entertaining/horrible karaoke going on, this wouldn't even be worth one star. Yayyyyy Brix! -

This is the happening hot spot for the LGBT community and their entourage! This is my go to gay bar in San Jose: Trust me, I am a gay man trapped in a straight girl's body and I certainly have my own man-tourage.
Mondays: POWER HOUR--great people and cheap well drinks after 10pm. Bartenders are super friendly and super attentive to your needs! Best part: no cover!
Tuesdays: KARAOKE NIGHT--what a crowd of fun people with all different singing abilities! Their karaoke DJ is on point and rotates songs very quickly so everyone has a chance to sing at least twice! Plus again: no cover!
One of my favorite nights is when Club Papi takes over Brix. Club Papi Latino dancers are amazing and on those nights you would get charged $5, but it's so worth it!
Only downside is that it's CASH ONLY, BUT IT'S TOTALLY "I swear to God" WORTH IT. = )
All in all if you are in need of a great place to dance and be free without the yuckyness of people in your grill, then this is the place for you!Listed in: South Bay Satisfaction

... no entrance fee (depending on the night). CASH ONLY! ATM available inside with a $2 - $3 transaction fee. Stools all around the bar, seating outside and a plasma to sing Karaoke, watch music videos, etc.. Me and a couple of friends come here to grab a few drinks, dance a little and chill in the back outside patio. Nothing fancy about this place, just a spot to hang out. The drinks are average priced. This was one of the many stops we made on our way to another local bar/lounge. I wouldn't rule this place out, yet. LOL.

San Jose, CA
I'm not entirely sure where other's are going for drinks, as they call Brix expensive, but I've been all over in SF and San Jose (Gay clubs) and have noticed that Brix's prices are in-line with everywhere else.
Just about every night as some sort of special, which is very nice, especially power hour mondays!
The improved seating, and new dance area are very nice. Most people still try to dance in the back like normal, but I prefer the front since I get to avoid people stomping around.
Bartenders are a little slow. But the fact they have a 270 degree arc to deal with explains that. I've rarely seen them pour slowly as they usually pour quickly. Joe would be the best, he gets it done.
Overall, the place is great. I enjoy it!
And most reviews here are horribly out of date on facts. -

Our plan was to go to Motif on a Sat night and sweat up a storm to trance music. It turned out that they were closed for a month, but as luck would have it, someone opened the door to Brix as we were walking by and the sounds of Armand van Helden came pouring out. OK, House it is.
I guess I missed the huge rainbow colored light above the doorway because I had no idea this was a gay club. As soon as I got inside, it became pretty evident, though. Cool! The girls like going to gay bars and I haven't been to one in a while, so we were pretty stoked!
This place is fun! They have plasma tvs all around the place playing videos of the music and dancers (one of each, male and female) dancing on the bar. The bar itself has a good selection of beers, mixed drinks and hard alcohol and the prices are not out of line for a club. The dance floor itself is not huge, so it'd pretty intimate. There is a pretty large indoor standing area and an outdoor courtyard smoking area.
Considering this is a gay club, there were a good number of breeders around. The crowd was pretty mellow, but it's definitely a party atmosphere. The ladies I went with appreciated the fact that the place isn't full of leg humpers, and my ass wasn't pinched once, as would be the norm in a straight club.
Overall, this is a really fun club whether you are gay or straight. I can't imagine how you could go to Brix and not have fun. I'm looking forward to the next time we go!Listed in: Wine Bars, Bars and clubs.

:] Went there for the first time on a thursday night... on a lesbian nite my gay friend turned just 21 that week when we went so I suggested on going there... but sorta failed.. cos it was more for girls than guys... haha but the music was damn awesome and the girls dancing were pretty freaking hot :]
The drinks.. were priced normally for a bar... but the cash only thing sorta sucks.. so im taking a star away.. sorry Brix.. but if you want to sell more alcohol.. def take visa!!! :] -

Nothing beats good bumpin' mainstream music, dancing with my gay buddies, having no worries of having creepy guys staring at you, and ample space to move and grove. I can't say too much about the bar service and prices because my friends paid for most of my drinks at the beginning and when it was my turn to pay, I was a little too out of it to mind. heh....I can say it was a little hard to get the bartender's attention later on in the night because the place was packed.
The only crappy thing is that they won't let you go in with an expired ID. Weird...it's not like your birth date changes once your ID expires. -

San Jose's only gay dance club worth going to. This is the only one in San Jose that does not really cater to just a latin crowd.
The music is fresh, drinks are not measured or watered down, and the atmosphere is cute - makes this my dance club when I am in town.
One night went to Mac's to have pre-drinks (great place) then to Splash (waste of money - I could have bought Evian and got just as buzzed), then to Brix to dance it all off. Next time it is Mac's then Brix!
And the music videos dont skip! -

I randomly walked in here on a blind date even though there was a $5 cover charge (...for what?). There were go go dancers dancing on top of the bar but the place was overwhelmed with fluorescent lighting. There were two televisions fixed to opposing walls of a "dancefloor," playing music videos of all the less catchier songs that later got released by top 40s artists who were once popular. My date actually ordered a white russian. What? I haven't even gotten to do that yet. It was all very strange. I don't really get you, Brix

San Jose, CA
Being in the only gay bar in Downtown San Jose (well...at least until Splash opens up again in August) it's pretty much the default place to go.
Monday - Power Hour from 10 to 11pm. Two drink max per person at one time. Might wanna down your first 2 drinks and go back for more, the wait is kinda long
Tuesday - Karaoke Night. Some good singers, some really bad singers, you either get a good crooner or a mini-comedy show. Not much of a wait on drinks.
Wednesday - Nothin special, not a lot of people. No wait for a bevvy.
Thursday - Kinda busy, might have to wait for a drink.
Friday & Saturday - Pretty darn busy...expect a wait in line and inside for a drink
Drinks are a little pricey, wait time for a drink kinda sucks (especially if your thirsty), and the music is hit or miss on the weekend.
If you're with a group of friends it's pretty fun. It does get quite warm in there.
If you don't wanna haul it all the way to the City, then go to Brix. It's pretty clean and people are generally friendly. -

Ahh, I came here last night since the Swinging Hookah doesn't serve alcohol and my sweet slightly alcoholic tooth had me craving an Apple Martini!
Cash only. Awesome bartenders. Amazing apple martini. LOL and I LOVED the music videos... dude the collection of music was as eclectic as mine- old school mariah carey to Mya to journey and who knows what else. -

I went last Monday for my first time & it was a blast! Drinks were $1 couldn't get any better than that! I went with my Gay & his friends and it was great the atmosphere was wonderful, bathrooms were clean & they have a place in the back for smoking that you can actually bring your drinks out! Basically it was a good time just wish there was a bit more dancing music but it's technically a lounge so oh well I'll deff be returning!

Review from Flor D.
If you are scared of the GAYS then steer clear from the Brix. They don't mess around here, even down the management of the line! After a "men in uniform" auction at Kaama, I still wanted to dance. I had the symptoms of a deprived dancer. My pals could see that my feet were twitching with more fervor and my hips were thrusting ever so violently....
What is the cure for this illness? A night letting go listening to CeCe Peniston...yes I said Cece.
First off, there is a fire safety maximum capacity limit. On this night...if you left the club...you didn't have cutsies. You exit the door, then you are out, and if you want to go back in, you had to go to the back of the line and wait like everyone else.
Secondly, the club is hot. Sweaty bodies grinding with little inhibition. If you have space issues...stick to the outside patio.
Thirdly, don't be surprised if you see someone from your work, or your gym, or your dentists office. Who knew people moonlighted as waiters from my gym....who knew?
Finally, let the beat heat you like it was intended to. No need to go all crazy...but enjoy the vibe, the scene, and the people. I sure did. I even served as a wing woman.
Regardless of your preference, the Brix is a fun night club. Dare I say...I will be back very soon!Listed in: Libations: It's beer o'clock…

Brix I think the rainbow light caught my eyes because I was craving for a GAY NIGHT! $5 cover piece of cake! It is worth it so take it! Hot dancers everywhere...which I really love so if you want a dance competition bring it! I am willing to show off with no shame and break you OFF! And drinks were 100 percent excellent!
p.s. I sworn l saw a tranny look a-like of Adam Lambert performing last night! -
Review from jenn w.
I used to enjoy going here, but I guess I got old and don't enjoy going out as much now. I have gone on random nights and it is usually pretty dead which is nice since I am totally anti-social, anyways. This place needs to get with the times and start taking plastic but the one redeeming quality of this place is the good happy hour specials. But even with the decent prices on drinks, the bartenders take forever. There just never seems to be enough people working, but even when its pretty dead, they still aren't very efficient.
I hate the layout of the dance floor. Because it is situated in the middle, you always get people spilling beers on you as they try to maneuver their way to the outside patio. Or, you get the bar back who is bumping into you as he is trying to move from the bar to the hallway. -

So for a Sunday, this was a very relaxing evening. Shannon had always known what my drinks were this is probably why I keep coming back, this is the only club I have established relationships with staff management.
People can trash and comment how expensive the drinks are, but this is why they have certain days like tonight for a $3 well drink / beer... They always have a special on something which is a big plus for me. I below many others would appreciate the prices because they are always wallet friendly.
Cassie is great I see her take her job seriously and takes no excuses, which assures me that this girl knows her job.
Will always keep coming to this place.. Joe, Brittany, Ron, and many more. Can't wait for the rest of the week.
Sundays, great for relaxing and enjoying great company In a great place.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

I love gay bars and my gay friends know that.
So when I stumbled upon Brix for the first time last night, I was overjoyed. There was a 20 minute wait with no cover charge but we managed to forgo the line with red velvet cupcakes.
Unfortunately food is not allowed inside the nightclub, so we ate the cupcakes outside. Bummer on that. Minus one star.
The vibe, people, and music was awesome. Loved it. I have never been grabbed by so many men (wait, are you really gay) and not care. So much fun.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all the gays and really fun non-gays! -

Tuesday.
On a random Tuesday night, it can be hard to find something to do
around downtown San Jose. The meatmarket-y clubs are closed and the usual dives are dead. What to do, what to do? Go home?
Thank goodness for the gay BFF!!
Without her I might have likely overlooked the local gay scene! So it was off to Brix we went...
We had hoped initially that there would be some music; with any luck, enough hip-hop or R&B to dance to as we were apt to when we used to come here for Huntress Thursdays under its last namesake, Hunters [http://www.yelp.com/bi...].
What we walked into instead was karaoke night and $3 drink specials! As we sat there, first round of Stellas in hand, talented vocalists belted out song after song over the sound system, a wireless microphone moving throughout the bar from singer to singer, lyrics scrolling past on any one of the large flatscreen TVs overhead. While we went downed kamikaze shots, someone sang a selection from the musical Wicked, causing Esco and I a moment of pause as we awwwww'd the sentiment of the play. And as we sipped down a second round of Stellas we reminisced all we'd done together over John Legend's "Ordinary People".
6 drinks and $24(w/tip, cash only bar) later, we were happily faded and had done something fun and different on a Tuesday night. Plus we ended up dancing anyway, just the two of us. That's a win in my book.
Saturday.
We stopped in just before closing Saturday night after partying it up a little elsewhere. With just a few changes to the decor (for the better, IMO), it proved to be the same fun, good energy scene it used to be [as Hunters]; full room, lively music, a packed dance floor , a busy bar, friendly bartenders, and beautiful people.
New name. Same fun place. We'll be back.

I turned to the bartender, said to her,
"There's three of us, we've got exactly $14, what can we get?"
She gigglingly hooked us up with three Jaegers.

I used to like this place until they became more popular and start charging cover.
Charging cover on a Sunday night, where drinks are overpriced. No thank you, I can get twice the amount of drinks at many other places around in San Jose.
The other night I was waiting 10min for my drink, the bartender didn't know how to make my drink and didn't ask me how to make it, but instead he was going through the drink book for 10min, until another bartender started the shift and knew how to make it. Seriously, common sense, if you don't know how to make a drink just ask, saves both of us the time.
I probably won't come here that often anymore. -

I was here a few hours ago with a group of friends for a birthday! I had a blast! The music wasn't to my taste but I had fun dancing anyways. The customer service was fast I had my drink with in a minute. I'm glad I came back here to give this place a second chance. I will be coming back! 5 stars!

Yes, I briefly made an appearance here to meet Kate from Season 4 of the Bad Girls Club on Oxygen. I tried to get my friends to come out to actually enjoy the club but all I could get was dinner out of them. So I dropped in quickly. They were carding at the door and were asking for a $5 in cash. So I had to walk down to the hookah lounge on the same block and pay the $2.75 fee to get $20 out. Boo. I just don't learn that I should carry some cash.
I didn't really meet anyone as I was in and out in a jiffy. I stood in line for a drink and the guy in front me was obviously indecisive so he let me get in front of him. The bar seemed to have a lot to offer in terms of liquor. They had the full line of Stoli flavors in the middle island. Mirrors decorated the brick wall and most people seem to be congregating towards the back of the club. I then became indecisive as well and decided to get my photo with Kate and bounce. There were two go-go dancers in fishnets, boots and bikinis. I laughed when Lady Gaga was played in the short time I was there because I read the other reviews here on yelp and they prepped me that Lady Gaga songs will definitely be playing. I got my photo with Kate and left. I wish I could've given this place more of my time. -

San Jose, CA
UPDATE:
This bar has a few nice surprises in it, that take awhile to recognize. If you read my original review, I first found Brix to be a little aloof - a better way to describe it might be "slow to warm up to strangers". As a new guy visiting for the first time, it is a nice bar - the best gay bar in San Jose - but (as a new guy) it would be hard to recognize what makes Brix worthwhile. However, If you take the time to get to know the staff and regulars, you will discover a small community of friendly and genuine people, very good staff, and a business that has become the heart of the San Jose gay community.
ORIGINAL REVIEW (***):
For a nightclub gay bar, this is the only option in San Jose right now.
Happy hour and specials bring drink prices down from excessive to acceptable - but no big bargains here.
Friendly staff, albeit a little aloof and not too attentive. When it is busy (which is often) it is tough to get service at all.
Atmosphere is minimalist modern, Dancing and DJs are predicatable but fun.
