2 reviews for Brisbane Joe's
Friends who live in Brisbane took us here tonight and I was very pleased with the lamb chops with a side of mint jelly, my favorite, and tiramisu that seemed like someone's Italian grandmother had made just for us. It is Saturday night and around 8 an excellent Latin dance band came on stage in the bar adjacent to the restaurant. It's really one big room cut into Brisbane Joe's on one half and 23 Club on the other. Each has it's own entrance. So, it isn't as good for some persons as Original Joe's but for me it was just what I wanted. Honest food, low on the frills department, best tiramisu, comfortable and homey atmosphere..... it could have been 1965 because there was this timelessness about the whole experience. Can't wait to go back again.
I wen't to joes tonight because people I know told me some of the cooks from Original Joes were working Here. They were but the food is not as good as O.J.'s. I had a burger and side of ravioli. The burger was ordered medium but came out well well done. The ravioli was cooked fine but the sauce had some overpowering spice. I ate a couple of ravs but too much spice that should not be in a sauce for pasta. The fries were very good. It seemed as if they had twice as many waiters and busers as they needed. This did not help the service because they seemed confused. It was very hot in the rest. and needs some ventilation. I will go back and give It another try.
