Review from Gloria C.
I've been coming here more and more often, if only for the food that is just perfect for late night outings and post-drinking cravings.
Service is .. spotty at times, but overall I could care less as long as they have waffle fries at 3 in the morning.
Waffle fries with gravy. Hmmm... I can feel my coronary arteries hardening at the thought.
Their regular daytime lunch special is pretty spot on - for 8.95 you can get a whole big meal! ( That's my inner granny talking) Good deal - though I would probably stick with their sandwich lunch specials versus their actual entree specials.
Great place to come by overall - with ample parking in their parking lot. -

2 stars for the waiter and my waffle.
When entering, there were absolutely no smiles or anything nor was there any greetings. After a long while after being seated, the waiter comes and takes our order. The food was obviously quick. I ordered the Belgium waffle deluxe which included ham, sausage, and bacon. The ham had a bit of burnt stuff on it, the sausage was maybe the size of my index finger(?), and the bacon was HARD AS BRICK. It looked like they cooked it ahead of time and left it out there for a while. On the other hand, my bf had a texas burger with fries. Looks presentable and was better than my waffle.
Another thing I noticed was the waiters were all chit-chatting up while working. The table behind me was sat down for over 10 mins and no waiter went to take their orders. When the manager called one of the waitress' name, the waitress just looked at the manager and continued to chat with the other waiters. Another waiter decided to come take the table's order while the other waiters continued to chat. BAD SERVICE!
Overall- bad service, and terrible food. Worst diner yet. -

I'd recommend making your way over to Bridgeview Diner on Sunday night. It's pouring, you think you remember having a good breakfast here once, and hell, it's a diner -- you're supposed to eat in diners once a year or something, right? I can't remember if that's a rule or not.
Alright, your waittress has crooked teeth, reeks of cigarettes, and has an impenetrable Brooklyn accent. You place your order.
"Heh! I take it you two are vegetarians!"
The charm is impossible to deny.
Meanwhile, on both sides of your booth, conversations of an otherworldly variety are transpiring. Behind you, a Greek family -- long familiarized in the Ways of South Brooklyn -- welcomes their daughter's new boyfriend into the family.
"Do you have plans for the future? I'm sure ya do. You love my baby, I know ya do. She loves you, too. She'd tell you if you asked. I want you to think of me like a motha, 'cause I already think of you like a son."
On the other side, a grizzled father/daughter combo talk career:
"Ya gotta work off da books. Make a little cash, nobody knows."
"But dad, I know that.. you gotta watch ya ass, though. Georgita's in a lot of trouble."
"But everybody does it! Nobody needs ta know! You gotta work off da books!"
And then your wife, sitting across from you, fighting back visible and audible reaction to all that is transpiring, faced with a flavorless mountain of vegetable lasagna (literally the size of two bricks put together), asks, "Are you almost done? I don't know if I can hold back any longer."
Five stars for the ambiance (if you will), but last I checked, you people were interested in food, right? -
Review from Jaclyn L.
It's 12:40 AM and you're neither hungover or high, but you just want to stop your obscene craving for a damn Philly cheese steak; A DAMN CHEESE STEAK of ALL THINGS! "Where am I gonna go now, huh? You just tell me where?!"
::point!::
You don't exactly get 5-star treatment in any diner, but here...you're left the hell alone when you wanna be. Just take my order, get it to me fast so I can stuff my face, then clean up this mess in front of me because I wanted that cheese all over - and that's what I got exactly; oh! with fries too.
You haven't see super-sized plates loaded with food until you've come here; everything is on steroids. My apple strudel? I could have fed 4 people with it, but! I am greedy, and I wasn't in the "oh!-you-can-have-a-spoonful-if-you-want" kind of mood. Stay back, keep your eyes in your own plate if you know what's good for you, and maybe I'll drive you back home afterward.
Bitter? Not at all.
Food protective? You better recognize...biatch! -

I'm just going to go right ahead and say that I hate this place. I hate being forced to come here, I hate walking by here, I hate being anywhere near here, etc. The problem with this diner is that its just too damn filthy. I don't expect eating at a diner to be the cleanest dining experience in the world, but when crumbs are clearly scattered about every waitress' shirts and aprons, that's just disgusting. They'll bring your order, and you'll watch them nervously, praying that those specks of crumbs never make it onto your dish.
It's not that the food is inedible, it's the fact that I feel so uneasy, and dirty when eating here; like something is always hovering over your shoulder, ready to contaminate your food at any second. Every bite seemed to trigger a gag reflex, I had to constantly remind myself that what I was eating was food, and not some sort of rat poison. My friend might swear up and down every morning that their food is good, but nothing will ever convince me to come back here again. Frankly, coming here once is too much.Listed in: Hazardous, handle with care.

Ive gone to this diner a million times and at all times of the day/week. I vowed NEVER to step foot in there again. They raised all their prices by at least a dollar on everything....$6 for onion rings that they now skimp on. PLUS it took them forever to finally get a C rating. GROSS!!! NO THANKS!!!

I'm surprised at the overall so-so ratings bridgeview is getting. I don't know...maybe it's because I felt like I grew up here and have frequented this place way more times than I care to admit that I have a special place in my heart for it! In fact, I remember there was a time where I couldn't go into bridgeview and not run into or see someone I went to school with or knew.
The diner itself is pretty clean and it has a crisp classic look to it that I really like. The owner always greets you when you come in and wishes you a good night on your way out. I've never had to wait to be seated. Additionally, even during peak times, we've never felt rushed to order to pay our bill. The service is great (well, admittedly that depends on the waiter or waitress you get--I've gotten a few misses on occasion)-I actually have a favorite waitress because I've gone here so often in the past. Hi sue!
Being that this is a diner, good customer service and fond memories can not be the only reason I keep coming back--of course, the food has to be good as well! I've always stuck to hamburgers and sandwiches and I've found them to be more then satisfactory. Sweet potato fries, which is one of my guilty pleasures, are tasty here too.My friend has had their dinner specials [ a good deal that comes with a soup or salad, entree, a dessert, and 1 drink of your choice] and some of the Italian dishes and from the couple bites of his food I've tasted, I can say that they were pretty good as well.
Hands down, this is my favorite diner. It you want a causal place that serves good food at a reasonable this is the place for you. Better yet, if you have a 4am post drinking hankering for pancakes--Bridgeview is open! -
Review from Carlos C.
Nice, laid back service, no stank attitude. Had the eggs benedict, they were good, but I couldn't recognize the cream/bootleg mash potatoes that accompanied it.The bathrooms were pretty clean when I went, so no probs in that department. 3 Stars.

Bridgeview has good food, pretty good service and a nice atmosphere. The chicken souvlaki is great, and they also make a mean philly cheesesteak sandwich. A good diner to frequent. They also have a quick delivery service.
They are a little weird about salad dressing, sometimes they just bring a little bowl filled with oil .....so be specific about what you want. Also, I am a little confused about the "millenium" fries -- they are skinny fries that are not as good as the regular fries and really have no association with the 21st century or anything related. Skip it and stick with what comes with the meal. -

Even tho this place has an old fashioned charm in that they consider a tuna salad platter a diet menu item and they have all these yummy greasy items - it is really a germ pit. The appetizer platter they put out on the table with beets, garbanzos etc is filthy with caked on dirt on the handle. We went and had the pot roast which was tastless and dry. I am home now after eating bread and french onion soup - and i am sick to my stomach. Plus the food took forever. This place needs to shut down and fumigate and throughly clean and have a bewtiching ceremony to send away the evil spirt that posions people. Then they need to revamp the menu so there are fewer ingrediants to keep track of. Ok the toilet is calling (heave heave)- got to go

Review from Franny A.
Typical old school Brooklyn diner and that was just what I liked about it. The owners(in suits) greeted you upon entering.
...Waitress had lots of makeup, nails and was attentive and friendly.
....She also cared about the great chocolate egg cream she made me.
Milky way pancakes with chocolate were serviceable- anything with chocolate tastes good plus a side of Canadian bacon thrown on the flattop for $7.45. Booths are cushy and although they did not have the Verranzanview of the namesake, the view of the quiet streets of Bay Ridge was perfect for a couple of ex-Brooklynites hangin' out in the Bk for the day. -

I'm really liking this diner. I was very satisfied with my meal and that's a good thing. It's always nice when you walk out of a place and you have no complaints with the food or the service. The luncheon menu had many choices and it included a drink and dessert. The amount of food on my plate was larger than I expected that I could not finish my meal and brought home my dessert of delicious bread pudding and yes I did get whipped cream on top.
What I like most about this diner is that on the way out the door you get to sample their delicious greek butter cookies. -

Awesome diner. We really enjoyed how much food you got. Four course meal at a diner! Salad, soup, entree, dessert, plus you get bread, chick peas, cole slaw and beets before any of this is even delivered to the table. Almost as good as Tiffany's Diner several (SEVERAL) years ago. Check it out if you have a good apetite.

This is pretty much your run-of-the-mill diner. It's just a few blocks from my apartment, and I've been here for two completely different situations.
The first was a 3AM Friday night trip, when my roommate and I were in need of nothing more than a good solid meal. The second time I went was for breakfast with my mother on a Wednesday morning.
Both times, I ordered the challah French toast (a bit confusing when the waiter asked if I wanted "the fat bread or the skinny bread"), home fries, and a glass of juice. Everything came promptly, hot and definitely fresh.
The home fries aren't the greatest, but the coffee is great, and they had no problem giving us beer at 3AM. All in all, exactly what you'd expect from a diner.Listed in: Close To Home

Ok. Again with "this is my home base diner".
I've spent at least 1 Thanksgiving here. Nuff said.
(although I do miss Tiffany in this neighborhood too)
Something about diners that lend themselves to a sit-com.
This place is as much about the players and personalities as it is about the food.
I'll spare you the details, but usually you're seated immediately, and the counter is always available if you don't want to wait.
Sometimes service can be a little spotty or slow, but usually only when the place is PACKED. It does seem like sometimes it takes your food a while to pop out.
As others have stated. They do breakfast very well, as ordered. (see my photos of eggs well done) I've ordered a wide range on this menu, and most things are fresh.
One of the other good deals here, if it's not a 4am weekend trip for breakfast, is their daily special.
It's like $15, and can include something like 2 giant pork chops, soup / salad, nice bread basket and a dessert and coffee. It's more than enough for 2 people to share.
When I see their staff, who (double as delivery guys) peddling around my neighborhood in their tuxedos, I say to myself. "YES! I DO LIVE IN NYC."
And you know how Jersey has those "mints" at the checkout counter?
Well this place has nice Greek butter cookies. YES.
Since my wife doesn't really eat sweets, I tell her...
"I'll take 2, and you take 2, and meet me outside." ;) lol
Enjoy. -

Meh, the food was sub-par and the service was mediocre. Our waitress was very friendly but no one bothered to fill up our waters. They also burnt my cornbeef hash. Thanks, but no thanks - not coming back here again.

Diner that actually falls on the good side of the "Diner food is supposed to be good and bad" Went in here for a late night breakfast after some craptastic bar hopping once and the pancakes were just awesome and I don't know if it's cause I was little tispy or because they actually were, but I kept coming back.
After that I've been in here quite a few times when I used to work in the neighborhood for some afterwork meals. The service is standard and the food isn't going to make you wanna puke. So by diner standards and apparently yelps, that's A-OK! -

Its a diner but it feels like im on LI when I come here. Its a big place and the waitresses are your stereotypical NY diner ladies and i love it!
Lots of old Italian men in here sitting around tables shootin the shit and playing cards. Love that too.
The food is your average diner food. I know its kinda crazy to go to a diner when you've got a ton of great bay ridge restaurants right at your fingertips but sometimes you just want a feeling of home. And this diner gives me that LI home feeling. -
Review from Joye P.
Large diner with pretty-good food, reasonable prices, and good for late-night. I was there late on Halloween, and there were some interesting patons in there. It's not the best diner I've ever visited, but service was fairly good and it met my needs. I liked it.

I really want to like this place because it looks like a good place that is open 24/7 but be it breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizer, or late night drunken stupor this place sucks.
We really deserve better than this crap. -

Good location just off the Verrazano Bridge. They've got a standard breakfast menu, so orders can't really get messed up. Friendly faces, but the service can be a little slow at times. They have a parking lot. Try their steak and eggs if you're there for breakfast.

This diner is innocuous on the outside, but when you walk in you go "woah!" With two dining areas it's more enormous than you'd expect a diner to be. It's decorated in beige, gold, and wood - classic diner goodness. I get a kick out of the fact that the staff wear a suit coat uniforms. Although the service is prompt, don't expect your server to smile or chat much... or at all.
Sadly, the food is only so-so. I took some family members here for brunch. They enjoyed their omelettes (you can get find interesting ingredients such as sturgeon roe, Norwegian lox, and chicken liver). My french toast was bordering on inedible because one of the challah slices had mold on it :( I was also disappointed by McDonald's style individually wrapped artificial maple syrup. -

Being from New Jersey, I know diners. And this is a pretty good diner (even for being in the city). Normally when you go to diners, you have to stick to breakfast in order to survive. The breakfasts here are better than average so you'll be good there. If you venture outside of the breakfast world, no promises, those are the rules.
However I can say that the fries here are good as are the grilled cheeses (yes I have had diners screw up a grilled cheese before). You'd even be safe with a burger here (which I have ventured into as well). Normally I like diner pickles, but I'd stay away from these and don't have the slaw either.
Pop in and stick to breakfast and you'll enjoy a good meal. -

Now, I've been living in Bay Ridge for more than a year and in that course, I've visited this diner for a handful of time.
The one thing I love the most from this diner is the booth seat (ever watch "When Harry met Sally?", I didn't like the movie, but have always been obsessed with booth seats).
They used to give you this appetizer in 3 small connecting bowls (beets, coleslaw and chickpeas, I think) and a bread basket after you order, but if the party is less than 3 people, you only get a small cup of coleslaw and one or two pieces of bread.
I personally love the coleslaw, the menu is average though, something you would find in any other diners.
I gave 2 stars because I had a bad experience once. They served rotten salad (there was no way we could touch the salad, they were all rotten), we thought it was accidental, but then the steamed brocolli came (I ordered steamed brocolli), they steamed it far too long, it was mushy.
Ok, then the BBQ ribs came, it was black and overcooked. The overall experience was suffice to prevent me from coming back. -

Delivery Service is horrible. The order taker is deaf and nasty.
Eat In Service is also horrible. Had the fish here one time and it was not fresh. The only good item is the Romanian Steak Sandwhich. Which they still confuse for the Romanian Steak Entree.
Ok for 4am Drunk off your Rocker Meal before the Hangover Meal
For Diner food try Pegasus only open for Breakfast and Lunch. -

I go to this place almost every weekend with my two boys - they love it! I do also, the place has a lot of character, and by now the waitresses know our family by name. My coffee cup is always magically full and I always leave here stuffed.
I have also dined here late at night and drank cup after cup of coffee with no complaints.
The Greek salad with grilled salmon is my favorite and the home fries are tasty. -

Nice looking clean diner and all but if you eat outa this place you were better off at Wendy's. And personally i find the entire staff just a bit odd...sorta like that goth clic that hung out seperatly over by the corner table back in your high school cafeteria days.

I'm not a fan of this diner. Every time I go, the food is eh. I've never had great service. On busy days, (once we went for Mother's Day brunch), everything seems to fall apart, they have no idea how to make a waiting list or serve a high volume of people.

I came in to this diner with two friends on our way to Brighton Beach. We were seated immediately and glasses of water and cups of coffee were brought to the table within two minutes of sitting down. Our server was super nice and very attentive. I ordered corned beef hash and scrambled eggs. The eggs were exactly how I had ordered them (well done) and the hash browns were perfectly cooked. Some places make them too dry and too overcooked. These had an excellent consistency. The place filled up solid by the end of our meal, yet our server was still able to provide what we needed in a timely fashion. A bit more expensive then my local diner on 3rd and 75th but still an overall good experience.

same menu. same staff. same attitude. same quality. same service. same, same, same, same, same.
it's not horrible, but nothing really stands out here. i walked in here on a whim. i was hungry and needed to feed myself. the burger came out after 30 minutes of me sitting at the bar. oy.
the space is big, clean and almost elegant in a way. it's no Four Seasons... but for a diner, not too shabby. -

When I become old, the Bridgeview Diner will be my hang out of choice. I will order cavalierly from the Daily Specials menu. I will argue with the waitress for chocolate pudding instead of rice pudding. I will pocket all the individually wrapped saltines and sesame breadsticks from the breadbasket. I will eat my Yankee Pot Roast in the company of all my fellow seniors and be happy. When my cholesterol medication allows it, I will enjoy some of Bridgeview's delicious steak fries and their fluffy chocolate chip pancakes. With Bridgeview's open 24 hours a day policy, I can have my early bird special at 4 or 6 o'clock!

5 stars just for the gravy fries.
it's what dreams are made of at 4 am. cheap and delicious, they even offer 2 types of cheeses (white & yellow - i wouldn't go as far as to call it mozzarella and america). i'll take the hour subway ride out there for them anytime. -

I am giving this place 5 starts because it is a solid dinner. The food is not fancy but it is a dinner it is not supposed to be fancy. The food is good, the service is fast and all waitresses are very nice. There is always seating available and they are open 24/7. They never let my expectations down.

it's a diner. and in my mind, the perfect diner.
i've lived in Bay Ridge for 3 years but have friends that were born and raised here, which may be the key to the red carpet treatment we get when we pour ourselves into a booth at 4am after a night at the Bean Post or the Kettle Black. thanks to her special fondness for my friends, we always get waited on by Sherrie, who is the most unbelievable doll, and before we've even settled in to our seats several platters of cheese fries and gravy have appeared. it's like seeing a mirage in the desert... but it's REAL.
this isn't fancy or special food, but it does the trick. and i have been known to come back sober for a veggie burger on a Sunday afternoon. standard diner fare, quick, friendly service, the perfect way to end a night on the Bay Ridge bar scene. -

Denver, CO
Now, I am a girl born and bred of the Western side of this great country of ours. I have a few preconceptions about this world.
1) West Coasters will always think the East Coast is actually one solid city, from Boston to Miami.
2) The Appalachian Mountains are not mountains...you want mountains, go to Colorado, these are just big hills
3) All of the sking on the East Coast is icy
and finally,
A dinner is Denny's or IHOP. Breakfast food, some 24 hour stuff, nothing good.
Now, understand, I am not one of these city type folk, growing up in the wilds of northern New Mexico where we had to still hunt for our food (and we just got the english language like in the 80's) but Damn, my world was turned just completely upside down when I walked into this place. I was stuttering, my jaw all a drop and I might have actually fainted, im not sure. Outside it looks like a IHOP or any of those nice little chains, and im sorry, the Bridgeview dinner does not have a view of the bridge, but from inside, oh inside, is just like sexual chocolate.
I felt like a vagabond, in my sweatshirt and my jeans, my hair all a mess and my roomate just being my roomate (nothing ment by that L) and we are sat at their finest booth, and once again I see these awesome placemats that I first saw at Toomy's dinner in Crown Heights. We are given out menu's, which I notice has a full bar. Also very cool. After ordering 9 dollars worth of the meatloaf luncheon, and my roomie a lemon chicken, we are assaulted with soup, and a trio of appetizers that are very neatly presented. I find my senses awash with pickled beats and a bean salad. And then a salad......well, this is my only beef with the food...the salad was all bitters and very bitter at that. I was not a fan. But then the meatloaf came. By this point, I am almost stuffed from the great bread (which I apparently forgot to mention), the soup, yada yada, and I have this HUGE plate of meatloaf, and I mean huge! I made a valiant effort, but alas, fell short. However they do have to go boxes :)
Now, you fallowed me through my gastronomic affair with this dinner, I am sure you are either like, I am so hungry, or omg, this girl is a freak. Well no, im just a Westerner, but I have been pleasantly introduced to the true true awesomeness of a great eastern dinner.
Also, for those of you who have ever read my reviews and know my dinner rule....well, I felt I had to break it on this and give it 4 stars on the basis that it is not really as much a dinner as it is just well, awesome, sooo, I will break my rule...but just this time. (If you dont know what I am talking about read my reviews from before :) ) -

Listen up...back in the days we used to crawl from the bar Wavelengths to this diner which was about 25 feet away, when you had to many kamikaze drinks and absolute with cranberry, which by the way was the drink of choice back then, everything tasted like Peter Lugers in there!! I recently returned to the Bridgeview hoping to recapture the Luger taste and for my surprise I did!! the food was great and I wasnt wasted out of my mind. To rekindle old memories though, I ordered a Kamikaze with my food
