Gathered here with my husband's alumni group for happy hour and basketball game watching! I decided to start with a pint (cool tip: here a pint is 20oz) of the Summer Squeeze, their lightest brew.  Side note: this isn't a seasonal, as some reviewers have questioned, it's a year-round staple that's just got "summer" in the name.  It was tasty, but not my favorite, I thought it would be a little more citrus-y.  Husband started with the Dark Rain - the new spring seasonal. He hasn't been a huge fan of their beers in the past, but he loved Dark Rain so much that we had to stop at the store and pick up a 12-pack on the way home.

Our group only ordered from the happy hour menu, here's a round-up:
    1. Breadsticks: an platter of insanely yummy cheese-covered monstrosity.
2, Hummus: I couldn't finish it all! Made in-house, very tasty.
    3. BBQ chicken quesadilla, it reminded me of my all-time fave menu item from Stanford's happy hour that was sadly removed some time ago. Amazing!
    4. Mac and Cheese: Huge. Tasty. Get it.

Overall, the portions were quite massive for happy hour prices.  I peeked at the regular menu, and thought it was awesome that all their pizzas are named after Portland bridges.  Cool touch.

While we got there early to snatch up tables for the group, it eventually got super crowded upstairs.  Our server, Rebecca, was like Super Woman - she was just as attentive when it was crazy busy as she was when we were the only ones up there.  I don't know how she did it!  She was really fun to chat with, super accommodating with our large group, and she knew her stuff.  Everybody there was great, but she really stood out.  The building was very cool, everything was clean and comfortable.

Useful tip for groups over 7: instead of being able to split the check into separate tickets for everybody at the table, their policy is to allow only 3 forms of payment per table.  If 7 of you wanted to pay separately, you'll have to figure out a Plan B to get it down to 3 payments. As long as you know before you go, it's no problem.

I was in Portland, OR last December for business, and ate at the BridgePort BrewPub  on a few occasions.  While BridgePort aims for upscale pub cuisine, I found the food to be fairly ordinary bar grub, although I did enjoy the walk down to the Pearl District where this joint is located.  From the Pearl District's Wiki page:

"The Pearl District is an area of Portland, Oregon, formerly occupied by warehouses, light industry and railroad classification yards and now noted for its art galleries, upscale businesses and residences. The area has been undergoing significant urban renewal since the late 1990s, including the removal of a viaduct and construction of the Portland Streetcar. It now mostly consists of high-rise condominiums and warehouse-to-loft conversions."

BridePort is one of several trendy restaurants in the area and as others have noted, pays homage to the Pearl District's industrial past with metal stair cases and exposed brick and duct work inside.  The bar section is located when you first walk in, with several high table tops with backless stools.  The main dining room is off to the side, although there are also separate dining areas upstairs as well as another bar.

Over a few days, I tried the cuban style roasted citrus pork sandwich, the house-made chicken souvlaki pita sandwich, and the the BridgePort burger.  All of these items were fine, however, not particularly memorable.  About the biggest pluses I can give is that lunch was always completed within the allotted hour and was per diem friendly.

Sadly I was not able to stop in for one of their heralded beers since the local field office mentioned the Happy Hour here is pretty great; definitely one of the downsides when traveling with the boss.

This place isn't bad but I can't give it more than three stars.

Came to give Bridgeport another try.....and still didn't wow me. The Hop Czar beer I do love but the food is seriously lacking. I used to love the food here but over the last couple years it has seriously gone down hill.
This time around I ordered the Burnside pizza (mushrooms and onions) and although the pizza overall was pretty tasty, there are plenty of other places I could have gotten better. Their honey-thyme chicken sandwich didn't wow me either. The flavor was lacking....where was this honey thyme flavor you speak of? It was piled high with grilled onions....which were ok....but the promise of pears on my sandwhich....there was only one small slice. I opted for a salad on the side instead of fries and got a pile of lettuce that looked like it came out of a bag with some dressing mixed in. No veggies....no croutons....no nothing. Just plain lettuce. OK.
The service was a bit slow, but do understand I was with a large group. Still....not impressed.

Beautiful Brewpub with a combination of finely made microbrew beer and delicious food.  I went in a big group and all of us really enjoyed our dishes.  In a city with tons of breweries, this place does it right.  The future is pairing great beer with fine dining, and stepping into this place was like walking through a time machine to the future.  In particular, I loved the double red ale.  Beautiful color, balance and mouth feel. Yum!

I am a man that LOVES pretzels and this place makes some of the best I have ever had.  I think it was the beer spread or the beer.  I don't know, but I was down!  Oh moma!!!

Lastly, Great happy hour.  For serious.

Really can't add much to all the hundreds of reviews except to say I think their beer sampler is very generous in portion size, reasonable in price, and the service and food are just fine. Nothing really stood out with my experience except the Hop Czar, which was very good indeed, but everything else (food/service/beer) was just a-okay. Not bad, just not exceptionally memorable. I will say this - the place is gorgeous, very visually appealing, and it's wonderful that they have upstairs & downstairs. So much seating. And even the bathrooms are beautiful, and everything was very, very clean.

    Cute location, knowledgeable staff.

We stopped in here to get a taste of Portland beers!
We did the taster - they give you 10! Woah!
Good thing i was sharing it with the hubby!

There were a number of beers that i liked and a number i did not!

We ended up leaving with a 6 pack of the Summer Breeze! Mmmm!

The food selection looked amazing, but we stuck with the pretzels since we were dining elsewhere for dinner. The mustard was awesome!

Our last day in the Pacific Northwest we hit a few Portland breweries. Bridgeport could be my hang out if I lived near it. They don't have any wheat beers (they should fix that) but they did have some truly tasty beers.

The Food looked great, we had pretzels since we had dinner plans, but the rest of the menu looked awesome.

They've permanently lost a customer in me. I have a gluten allergy and went with my boyfriend to see if there was food that was safe for me to eat (Portland has so many options). The waitress told me their gluten free options and said if I ordered their vegan bowl without tofu it would be gluten free. I opted to do that and decided to drop the $4 to add chicken. When my bowl came I (apparently) was foolish enough to just take a bite of my food. The "chicken" I though I had just eaten in my bite ended up being tofu. In fact in addition to the chicken, the entire bowl was full of tofu. We informed out waitress of the issue. She just kind of stared at me for a moment then said "this is an error in the kitchen" and said she'd have them remake the bowl.

They did and there was no issue in the next bowl. She offered an apology and gave my boyfriend a free happy hour beer (since I cannot have alcohol). That was it. Nothing else was done for such a serious error. Because of this "kitchen error" I was sick for almost three days. It was a careless mistake. Last time I'll ever go.

I can't go any higher than 3 stars, unfortunately.  Quite simply, they were straight up out of 2 of their beers I actually enjoy: Ebenezer and Hop Harvest.  Hop Harvest I can understand, but being out of Ebenezer?  In the middle of December?  This makes zero sense.  As we mentioned it in passing to a server as we left, she said that last year they made so much that they were still pouring it in March of this year.  Well, that's all fine and well, but to pull the reins in that tightly seems like a bit of overkill.

The building's cool.  The food was okay.  I really enjoyed the pretzels and mustard/cheese combo they serve it with.  I had a caesar salad with grilled chicken that was forgettable.  I also had a bowl of their vegan chili which was... fine, I suppose.

I'll definitely be back.  I'm not a HUGE fan of their IPA, but I do enjoy Blue Heron.I respect Bridgeport for their contribution not only to Portland's craft brewery scene, but the national scene as well.

Came here while pub crawling on a sunday night and got a pitcher of Summer Breeze among the 4 of us. The beer was very light and citrus-y. Definitely could see(er taste) why it's called Summer Breeze Ale. I liked it!

The atmosphere was very chill, very dim lighting. Projector screen upstairs with TV on. Bathroom is upstairs. Didn't stay here long enough to say more about the place but it was a positive experience.

Been here a few times before, and this place has grown on me each time I visit...  Great beers/ales brewed fresh on the premises.  As a creature of habit, I had to have their Blue Heron Pale Ale, and IPA on the last two visits here.

Came in for a late dinner on the evening before, and had the oyster sandwich with fries.  Expecting a "Po Boy" style sandwich, it turned out to be a little different served on a hamburger bun.  The oysters were lightly battered and fried (tasty), packed with lettuce, and aioli of sorts, and lots of sweet pickle slices (good crunch, and tartness). I liked it...

The next day, I came in with another group for happy hour before heading off to PDX.  They offered lots of small plates, and even entree's.  We decided to go for a bunch of small plates.  Had the fried Tofu Fries with peanut dipping sauce (interestingly good), hushpuppies with honey sauce (nice), and spicy nachos with melty cheese, refried beans, and jalapenos (big platter, good heat, crispy thin tortilla chips).  We washed it down with a variety of their fresh beers on tap.

WIth the flat screen TV's, 2 floors, exposed trusses, and brick interior, this place is nice and airy with a very mellow kicked back atmosphere.  Perfect spot in Portland's Pearl District to grab some brews and relax with good company.

Man, this place is way too over hyped.  I guess I should have not come with my kiddos but seriously, I was very much disappointed.  First of all, I heard that they had their Christmas Ale on nitro here and that's basically the only reason I wanted to come.  Nope.  They had their porter tonight.  LAME.  Secondly, you have to sit in the bar area to get happy hour.  No problem if you don't have kids and don't need a high chair, etc.  The hostess went round and round with us about having to sit in the bar area to get happy hour prices.  But we had to wait for a table there since they were all taken up.  But we could sit at this bar area (which is terrible if you are trying to wrangle 3 small boys between the ages of 1 and 6).  We almost tried getting seated at a regular table (not in the bar).  But then the hostess asked me, "do you think you'll be done by 7pm?  Someone else has reservations at that table at 7pm"  WTF?!?!?!?!?!  That's just rude.  So, we took the bar area (tall stools all in a row).  BUT THEN everything started turning around when a table in the bar area opened up and the hostess redeemed herself by seating us there (finally).  So, I guess it was ok.  I was still disappointed in my experience there.  I do have to say that the mac and cheese is exceptional though.

Bottom line: go without your kids, leave your expectations at the door, enjoy some mac and cheese.  Or maybe you should just get some BridgePort beer at the store and stay home.

Recently had a birthday party here for about 20 people.  Brought in an outside cake.  While we had no food (be/c we started at 9pm and we were just out for drinks), the food look amazing.  I wanted to comment on the wait staff.  All the staff I dealt with, from the manager I had been emailing with to the hosts) were professional, friendly, and helpful throughout the whole process.  Very nice people to work with, and they went above and beyond to help me with this huge cake I brought it!  Good service is always appreciated and as someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I think it deserves a mention!  We will be back.

Having recently become a much healthier eater...I have come to appreciate Bridgeport Brew Pub anew because they offer the a delightful and delicious selection of vegetarian and vegan options which are really satisfying and full of flavor.  Plus, the beer is still fantastic (I have become a healthier eater, not necessarily a healthier drinker!)

The patio is great in the summer - with a laid-back vibe and great service.  The seasonal beers on tap are always tasty and interesting.  The atmosphere is always upbeat and suitable either for sports fans or a couple on an casual first date.

The more time I visit Bridgeport, the more I like it.  A vicious cycle indeed.

I was not a big fan of this place. I had a light summer beer and it was way too citrusy. Kinda reminded me of a corona with too many limes. The layout was a little big and industrial as well. I guess there was a bar upstairs, which looked a little cozier, but no one told us that when we came in. I feel compelled to break this review into Before and After and Now sections...

    BEFORE:
I first visited this pub in 2002 or so, when I was living in Seattle and driving through Portland on my way to the OR coast to visit family. The pub was vastly different then than the pub you see standing at this address today. For starters, it was only one level, and you entered through the door on the southwest side of the building.
It was VERY casual, with cafeteria-style tables, counter service, and a roll-up garage door. The food was limited to pizzas, sandwiches, soup, and the like. The staff and the vibe was very laid-back - it had an almost college-town feel to it despite the gritty Pearl location outside (which was much grittier back then.)

    AFTER:
Not long after the scene I described above, Bridgeport was purchased by Gambrinus, one of the world's largest malt purveyors, and they poured millions of dollars into the business, which included massive renovations of the pub space. A sign was hung outside promising a super-cool new pub to those patrons willing to wait months to return.
Years later I returned as a visitor, with a couple of San Francisco friends in tow. I had spoken of the pub in glowing terms, and unfortunately, the vibe was very different - somewhat corporate, slick, and impersonal. The beer was just as good, but the food had been upscaled considerably, and the prices raised accordingly. We were seated upstairs, where the vibe was much more sleek and industrial, and frankly, cold.  We didn't spend a lot of time here, and moved on to other pubs in the area.

    NOW:
I decided to give the pub another chance, as I wanted to taste this year's fresh-hop Hop Harvest beer.  And not only am I glad I did, I now have to eat my words on how the 'new' pub has turned out.
The food is actually quite good, tasty, filling, and really not such a bad value, especially if you consider how inflated prices can be at other Pearl watering holes.
I wish that the upstairs bar area was more spacious, since I typically go here solo and like to feel like the bar area is a good place to post up & relax.  Luckily, the warmth and professionalism of the staff, combined with the friendly regulars I've chatted with makes up for the tight space at the bar.  I'm a convert.

My favorite brewery in Portland. Although I think Rogue has better beer and Deschutes has a better restaurant, Bridgeport is the most well-rounded. Solid beer, tasty food, a great atmosphere (dining outside on the old warehouseloading docks on a nice day is excellent), and a cool location.

It's a little out of the way but only a few blocks up from Rogue, so well worth it if you are doing a little brewery tour.

    I really enjoyed BridgePort BrewPub.

Since my fiancé has been here a bunch already, I got a flight for myself (the price was not bad at all!). We were there in the early afternoon after a big breakfast so we decided to split one of their 12 inch pizzas to snack on.  We got the mushroom & garlic pizza.  The ingredients were super fresh and it was the perfect snack. We took some back and had cold leftovers later (still delicious!)

The decor was great, service was prompt and the prices were on point.  If I'm ever back in Portland I will definitely hit this place up for a full meal.

This is one of my favorite breweries in Portland. They just seem to have it all down stat. The atmosphere is great. They are located in an old historical building in the Pearl District of PDX. They kept the building with the original brick style. It is a huge building with plenty of seating outside. They have two rooms on the downstairs level and a large area upstairs with a private room for events. They have good pub food such as pizza and sandwiches. Everything tastes really fresh. They also have a nice bakery inside and the bread is amazing! They are always changing the food menu and the specials are usually where my eyes tend to wander. Yummy cornead beef sandwiches and sausages have been some of my recent favorites.
The beer is soooo good. They manage to take really strong beers like the hopczar and make it have a nice smooth finish. The haystack ale is a really nice light summer beer. One of the newest brews also for the summer was a summer squeeze. This brew was done just right. Most summer beers that try to add lemon or lime just turn out gross. This one wasn't  just okay....it was great! Not too sweet and just enough of the lemon flavor to not overwhelm you. The winter ale ebenezer is my favorite winter ale right now. Great dark ale but not too strong. It has a really nice smooth finish.
If you want to take transit here the street car stops right outside. They also have a really convenient transit tracker sign inside telling you what time the next streetcar arrives. Love this spot! Thanks Bridgeport for doing beer right!

    Pretzel Review Only! 3.5 stars

I hereby start the search for the Portland best pretzel. PDX is no Philly, but there is still a unique array of pretzels to be found (especially at microbreweries) around town. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Deschutes Brewery is next.

I checked out Bridgeport Brewery after some Core Power Yoga with my friends Sara and Nicole. We were starving and assumed the pretzels ($7) came in servings of one so we ordered three of these plates, which resulted in some doggie bags. The pretzels are made in house, of course, and come with a tangy sweet ropewalk mustard and porter cheddar spread. The pretzel itself had a standard dough consistency although I would have liked to see the three pretzels become two to create more pillowy innards as opposed to dry and often times bitter surface area. The ends got a little hard and actually tasted like Snyder's of Hanover. The cheese and mustard dips were a perfect salty/creamy vs sweet/tangy pairing.  These were good, but by no means blew my socks off.

I went to a few breweries when I was on vacation in Portland, and I liked Bridgeport's beers way better than anyone else's.  The Blue Heron especially was good - throughout a weeklong vacation we stopped in a number of times just for a pint of it.  Kind of disappointed I can't get this back on the east coast.

I think I've been here four times divided evenly between the lunch and dinner hours. I've always felt like the lunch hours were the better of the visits. The staff in the daylight is attentive and quick, realizing that most folks in here are on a limited schedule and need to get back to work before things fall apart or a boss loses their mind. Service is prompt, friendly and straight shooting. That's all a lunch experience needs to be, in my opinion.

Order one of the burgers or sandwiches as those are truly what they do best. I expected a little BJ's Brewhouse styled mediocrity and was proven wrong with a really good, quite juicy burger made with local ingredients that was just the right size for a recharge but not enough to send me into the kind of 2pm food coma that really kills afternoon productivity.

Of course they were absent during my lunch trips, but I still can't say I'm enamored with any of their beers either on-site or bottled. I've gone so far as to pour out the remaining bottles of a six pack knowing I was never going to touch them again.

The entree menu is a bit of let down as it blends right in with said BJ's Brewhouse styled dining. (Seriously, just get a burger.) But, it's safe and if you're out with coworkers or someone you need to wine and dine professionally, this place coupled with its rustic brick design and Batman styled catwalks will definitely please. Just make sure you're not another dude wearing a black shirt with jeans or you might be mistaken for a waiter.

I really like this place.  I don't frequent the Pearl as often now...there tends to be an overabundance of people that annoy me.  HOWEVER, I will make the trip for Bridgeport.  I had a bunch of family come into town for my cousins 21st bday and we were out to celebrate - trying to brewery hop. Unfortunately, there were TONS of people out doing the same thing and we wandered aimlessly looking for a place where we could just sit down and enjoy ourselves without being rushed.  Bridgeport was the place.  It's HUGE and has lots of different areas to sit in - and the service was FANTASTIC!  After dealing with grumpy waitress after grumpy waitress every where else, this was like a breath of fresh air.  The pretzel and dip we got were very good as were the beers.  Definitely a place to go when you want to kick back and relax with some friends!

Really dig the interior of this place.  It's a very cool atmosphere and they've got $3 pints all day on Mondays apparently.  Despite being there on a Monday, I didn't get one of these inexpensive pints, because I basically wasn't interested in one after splitting a flight/sampler of beers with the wife.  There were some decent offerings, but nothing that stood out at the time.  Nothing that really made me want a pint then and there.  Would I get the Hop Czar occasionally when searching out an IPA? Sure.  The Blue Heron pale ale?  Yeah I'd probably grab a six pack of that now and again. The lemongrass in the Summer Squeeze would probably even do well down here in Texas during the summer--and would definitely go great with some Thai.  But none of the beers swept me off my feet.

The design of the place and the industrial look and feel is very cool and appropriate for it's location.  The burnside pizza was even pretty good, which continued a surprising theme of finding some tasty, well-made pub style pizzas in Portland.  I'm close to rounding up because I could almost see myself coming here more than a place like Deschutes, but they just didn't have the stand out beers.

Went there for a friends birthday party. We had a large group. The staff and waitress were friendly, helpful and timely. Service was  good. Food was great! I have not been there for years since they first remodeled, and was very pleasantly surprised. (and of course, the beer is good!)
    I would definitely return.

Bridgeport is really a hit or miss experience. Yes, the beer is good (well, some of it - the Caffe Negro coffee porter tastes like yesterday's leftover Starbucks, but, on the flipside, there is the amazing Stumptown Tart strawberry seasonal ale), but beer is everywhere in Portland. Give me an experience to enjoy my food. Man, just give me something.

I've eaten at Bridgeport a handful of times, and it alternates from stellar service to absolutely atrocious "why do you still have your job?" service. Most recently, I got together with a big group of friends before leaving Portland, and we had the latter. The service was amazingly bad. We assumed that since the server knew he was getting an automatic 18% gratuity because we were a large party, he didn't have to do anything but the minimum. The very bare minimum. Getting our check, getting refills, even ordering food and drinks was a hassle. It is never a good sign when the customer has to hunt you down to pay the check. Good for you that we're conscientious people. There was a discussion of writing a negative tip on the credit card statements because, sir, you did not deserve 18%.

Bridgeport recovers with three stars in part because of the excellent service I had the visit before (plus there was a Fred Armisen sighting) and the Stumptown Tart. Also, my vegan friends were very excited by your menu, so props for thinking of the vegans.

I haven't reviewed Bridgeport yet?  Weird.  Guess it's been awhile since I've been here.  Back in the days I didn't think everyone wanted my opinion on everything.  Simpler times those were.

I've had nothing but average experiences here.  If the service is decent, the food is less than average.  If the food is decent, the service is less than average.  If nothing is decent, it's all average.  This time, everything was pretty average.  Well, the service was actually a little less than average.  No indication where the bar is for open seating and where you have to wait to be seated.  Even if you knew which area was which, there was no one to help you.  Finally someone showed up to explain that part of the main floor was open seating and part wasn't, then the upstairs was all open seating.  Really?  I can see why there weren't signs or people to help.  It's SO obvious!

So when the food arrives, it looks pretty good.  Sadly, it wasn't.  It was overcooked and a little flavorless, plus I didn't get everything I asked for.

Wow, when you put it in writing, you start to question the three-star review.  Well, the place has been there forever and I have had slightly better experiences.  It's average.  It deserves an average rating.

If someone types a review and nobody is there to read it, does it make a sound?

I started my review out like that because I don't know what to type here.  With a BridgePort product, what you see is what you get.  The beer is consistent.  The atmosphere is consistent.  The food (I imagine as I haven't eaten here in years) is consistent.  Consistent is the word of this review.

That is all I have to type.

I like their beer, mainly the Blue Heron Pale Ale or the Red, but the food isn't anything special.  My boyfriend had one of the specials for dinner - butternut squash ravioli - and I don't think I've tried a more bland plate of pasta in my life.  I had a salad that was better, with goat cheese and candied nuts, but it's hard to screw up a basic salad!  It was a good, casual place to meet up with friends or family.  Kids are allowed downstairs, and they put together a basic plate of hot dog and fries for my little nephew. The service was prompt even on a busy Friday night.  Maybe we just ordered the wrong food; I'd be willing to give it a second try next time I'm in Portland.

This brewpub is huge, with several different rooms / spaces.  There is a large room upstairs with it's own bar that makes a great space for private events.  The food is good standard pub fare.  The selection of beers is quite good.

Ahhh.  This was my third visit over five years.  I almost forgot to review it.

There were some one-star aspects of last night's birthday party visit and some five-star:
    wait/pacing of service = 2 stars
    server's attitude = 4.
    vegan chili = 5 stars
server's forthcoming disclosure that the veggie burger was not vegan (he shared the binding ingredient but I've forgotten-egg or cheese) = 5
stale roll on said burger = 1
wait time for return of said burger and re-fried-because-they-were-lukewarm fries = 2
Caesar salad = at least a 4 (I don't indulge as a vegan but our guest of honor enjoyed it down to the last drop)
kids mac and cheese = 1 (no flavor according to both the child and adult who tasted it)
bread and olive oil (gratis at start) = 5
    but later $2/plate = really????
KINGPIN Double Red Ale = 5

Apparently there has been an issue in the past regarding temperature of food-hot food not hot enough (and maybe cold food not cold enough?).  IMPORTANT note especially since the person in our party that brought it up is professionally trained and cooks for a living...
The heated chocolate chip cookie a la mode seemed delicious to everyone although they came to the table in skillets that were way way too hot and served without pot holders or something to protect the children at the table.

The 3 stars are slightly generous for the unevenness of the experience.

One of the best brewery's in town. Old historic building. Beautiful and uses as few resources as possible. Strongly recommend this happy hour if you are in town. Very cost effective and supreme food.

Bridgeport was probably one of my favorite breweries in Portland.  The beer was good but most memorable was the service.  I felt like the bar tenders genuinely enjoyed their job and were glad to be serving such fine craft beer.  The bar tenders, as well as the other patrons, were friendly and overall this place just had a good vibe.  I'm sure it also helped that I was a little tipsy. I wish I had had more time to spend at Bridgeport so that means I'll definitely be back.
