The biggest problem with this place is inconsistency.
The excellent: The coffee (best restaurant coffee ever), the steak, and the cauliflower (who knew cauliflower could be so good?), and just about every breakfast menu item.
The scary: Home fries means home fries. Home fries does not mean sweet potato home fries. Not only did they show up in lieu of potatoes, but they were almost RAW. I don't mean a little undercooked. I mean crunchy.
The burgers: So uninteresting and overpriced. Buns were stale.
The fuitti del mare-type dinner dish: overcooked pasta, bland sauce.
My last visit yielded a thirty minute wait for breakfast. The waitress did not once check in on us. The couple at the bar next to us got served before us, and they arrived after us. My coffee was not as good as I remembered. My breakfast was cold and had clearly been sitting for a while.
I've visited this place six times, and that's enough to say that I will not go back.
Meet the Business Owner: Rose O'Hagan O.
This is my second restaurant. I started Steeplejacks here in the late 70;s. I later sold Steeplejacks to raise my family but now I am back and come with some help, my family.
This spot holds great meaning for me. This spot marks the location of one of my first life adventures. Again and again it has supported and nourished me. Here at the crossroads of 47 and 116, I met some of my this little restaurant and this community and I want o share it with you.
