This is a wonderful open space, it is in Long Island City Queens (stop your groaning...!!! it's only ONE subway stop from Manhattan on the E or V line at 53rd & Lex.) and has classes for those that want to learn how to throw or handbuild with clay. There's also, a segregated space for people like me who already have been working in clay for some time, but need a place to do it (since my husband would kind of frown from clay being flung all over the living room if I tried to do this at home).
They have lots of glazes...well you can check that all out on their website, I just really wanted to say it's a wonderful place. There are all levels of people, so you see many different things being worked on, and I always find people are generous with their knowledge. There's lots of equipment like slab rollers & extruders, and most importantly....SPACE!, your knees aren't crammed into the person sitting next to you while at a wheel, and there's lots of table space too.
They have periodic open houses so you can go and check it out without feeling obligated...and a lot of the ceramic artists sell their work at the holiday sale at the studio at Christmas time...and really I have to admit how easy it is to get there from Manhattan...I got a little woozy when I first went, but once there, it's amazing to learn Manhattan is not the center of the universe! Maybe I'll see you there...

Only a block from the subway (E, V, 7), BrickHouse is easily accessible. New students are warmly welcomed and well accommodated. Everything you need can be found here! I love how the studio is green with the recycling of clay.
