These two studios --both very different, are awesome. And inside of the two studios you will find a collection of the most interesting talent, choreographers, producers, guests and even audiences that you will see anywhere in the boroughs. Why go to Manhattan when you have BRIC/BCAT right here over on this side of the bridge?
Check out their calendars and schedules online and contact the producers through their individual emails and contact sections.
BRIC: This is totally cool. You will see dancers, singers, jazz musicians, bands and more over here . So if you seek talent, this is the place to be. The admission costs are reasonable considering their quality and performances.
BCAT: This is an interesting place that has its own collection of executive producers, producers, camera operators, sound people and a wonderful staff. The studios are professional and usually well-maintained. Their stage is a floor with some platforms when needed. The control room and the cameras, and robotics and lights are state of the art equipment.
BRIC: Downside: Parking as usual in this area is missing and if present a little bit expensive.
BCAT: Downside: The variety of producers, quality, attitudes, and professionalism and non-professionalism is not standard throughout the shows. For example, you will have one show that is serious stuff while another is one that is there just for the space, timeslot. Things can be better. And, yes, things can be worse too. Also, again parking problems.
BRIC: Upside-- Talent, talent and more talent. This is the place where talent is. I do recommend that you check out all their performances.
BCAT Upside- There are some great producers who have put together good teams of workers. It is with this teamwork effort that great shows come into being at the BCAT studio. When looking at the studio and the producers, look for that professionalism that begins with respect for human beings. This place is definitely accessible by lots of busses and by some trains. I recommend the busses. They stop right near the place. Located right around the corner from the Rose Theatre and right around the corner from that brand new skyscraper condominium building that was just recently built and opened up.
If you want to be in a television show as an actor or actress or some kind of other performer or if you want to be interviewed, find a producer who is willing to tape your performance in a respectful manner. That will get you started on the right track.
As with all television and movies, begin your career with your clothes on in a respectful performance. That is the way to go. If you have a producer who wants you on air and wants you to compromise your values, you know that is not the place for you. So keep your eyes and ears open and you will be amazed at the wonderful volunteers that come across your path.
Remember, for every mediocre producer and for every producer that is not respectful, you will find five or ten that are professional, respectful, caring and considerate. So keep up hope and keep on walking towards your goal.
The studios are nice, the staff is courteous, respectful and professional. Volunteers, most of them are the same, with just a handful that spoil the atmosphere, but that is being worked on.
I rate both places a TWENTY!!
