Brian I am so sorry it took me a little while to write this review, but here it is!
It started with a tragedy: I tripped on my roommate's cat pole while holding my best friend (yes, my computer is one of my best friends) and I watched in horror as I dropped my laptop. BAM! The screen cracked and I murdered my hard drive.
I had to replace my hard drive (easy part) but I couldn't find a cheap way to replace my screen. I called lots of places. The Apple store quoted me a 1000 dollars. Mac Enthusiasts were extremely rude and condescending. Other repair shops were just... ugh!
So I called Brian Cometa. He quoted me an affordable price. I brought my laptop in. Brian looked at my computer and said he would have to order the part. A few days later, my computer was back to its wonderful self! My computer and I-- BFF FOREVER once more.
Brian is awesome! Very nice, sweet, sincere, straightforward. AFFORDABLE. KNOWS HIS STUFF. Be sure to ask him for detailed directions to his place because it is kind of hard to find.
In short, awesome service, quick, affordable. What else do you need?
He helped me and was sincere and looked out for my interest as opposed to just trying to rip me off or send me in circles (like Fry's). My iPod is on the fritz, so if he has that in his capacity I'll be taking it to him to get fixed as well.
I recommend him over any other place.
Brian and his company were Awesome! My fiance spilled water on my computer and I was sure it was ruined and I would have to spend another $1500 dollars for a new Macbook. I took it to Brian and was very relieved at the $200 dollar bill I received. I had the computer back the same afternoon I dropped it off. It is great to support an independent businessman with such integrity and knowledge. Thanks Brian
Brian took care of me & my computer! Once he replaced my hard drive, I had "brand new" computer. He's also very cool to talk to; I actually understood what he was explaining. No eye rolling ala SNL tech guy, no fancy stuff jargon to go over my head- This was one time I didn't feel dumb talking to a tech guy- call him!
Brian's work is amazing! I thought I lost thousands of priceless photos that would have cost a fortune to retrieve in a clean room. Brian quickly solved the problem and was very pleasant to work with.
Brian has my highest recommendation. Thanks again!!
I wasn't as fortunate, and none of my data was recoverable with out sending to one of the clean rooms for 2 grand, which I wasn't about to do.
The reason I'm giving Brian 5 stars is because of his service. I went to TechRoom first where they ignored me for a half hour, then when they had to deal with me, they did as little as possible.
After that I came to Brian, who asked details of what happened and told me he'd at least try to get the data off. He was quick, he was kind, and he knows his stuff.
Highly recommended.
Looking for a quick, reliable guy in the Burbank, Toluca Lake, Studio City/NOHO general area to repair your Mac? This is your guy, period. He quoted a competitive price and told us to give him a day...Had our laptop back with a new hard drive in 45 minutes at a fair price...45 minutes- enough said.
This is what great service is all about!
For those not interested in the grisly details, skip to "the bottom line".

Brian is AMAZING!!!!
I emailed him yesterday in a panic after my MacBook hard drive died without warning and the only option the Apple store gave me was to replace my drive (which they would take) and say goodbye to any chance of ever seeing my data again. Well, I hadn't backed up since late 2007 (when I started nursing school and suddenly got too busy to practically breathe!) and that hard drive held a LOT of data not saved anywhere else - tons of photos and all of my nursing school documents that I spent thousands of hours working on. Needless to say, I wasn't going to give up my hard drive that easily.
I turned to Yelp and found Brian, sent him an email and sat back to wait. I didn't have to wait long at all before he emailed me back to let me know he was busy with on-site appointments but would get back to me as soon as he was done. True to his word, he called me around 4:30 and we set up an appointment for me to drop off my computer at 6. I went to his place (which is incredibly clean by the way!) and gave him my computer. He told me he'd look at it right away and call me in about an hour to let me know if he would be able to recover the data. This was a pleasant surprise, considering the fact that I knew he'd been working all day and probably wanted to relax (I know I would!). 20 minutes later I was on my way home and I got a call from Brian. "Bad news" he says (dun dun dun!) Apparently my particular hard drive has a known problem that causes it to die without warning and renders the data basically irrecoverable. He can refer me to a professional company but they charge upwards of $1500 and chances are slim that even they will be able to get anything off of it. Unfortunately I can't afford this right now so I had to turn around and go back to his place to get my computer. When I got there he was sympathetic and answered the rest of my questions patiently before sending me on my way.
Even though he wasn't able to get my data back, I still think he is BADASS and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs computer help. I have no doubt that if I hadn't been cursed with this particular problematic drive he would have been able to recover my data. I really appreciate that he broke the horrible news gently and didn't act all superior or make me feel like a dumbass for not backing up (something I will ALWAYS do from now on! Lesson learned). He even responded to emails I sent him today asking for his professional opinion on how to proceed, giving me a tip (legit, nothing shady!) for how I might be able to keep my old hard drive while still having it replaced under warranty. Oh, and did I mention that he didn't charge me a dime???
The bottom line? Super fast, knowledgeable, helpful, fair, straightforward, nice, professional, HIGHLY recommended!!!! I will definitely call Brian again when I need computer help! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Brian did an amazing job getting the data recovered from my dead hard drive [PC]. He was fast, professional and, best of all, he delivered. Without his help, I would have had about 5 years worth of work that I had carelessly forgotten to back up wiped away. His rate was very reasonable and he had it done before I could even get back to pick it up. Thanks!
He was honest and straight forward, A friend gave me a G5 tower that wasnt booting so i called him based on his great yelp reviews, and because it was a sunday he was the only place open. i dropped the computer off and he called me within 2 hours said the processors dead and recommended i find a another computer that it wouldnt be worth it to repair what i had, the processors on my computer just slide right out it would have been a easy buck for him to replace them but i appreciate honesty and agree with his advice. based on his other reviews and my experience i would use his services again if needed and recommend him.
I had a hard drive that wouldn't work and was about to send it to DriveSavers because I felt there was no other option. Glad I looked on yelp and found Brian. He was honest, fast and had my data back to me in just a few hours. I'm a pretty tech savvy guy but from now on anything I can't fix, I'm calling Brian!
Brian quickly identified the problem with my Powerbook and replaced defect RAM all within a few hours! He was very flexible on drop-off/pick-up time as well. This is the most pleasant and sincere repair service I've ever had. Thank you :)
