BEHOLD THE POWER OF YELP.  My boyfriend and I had just gotten out of a 9am IMAX movie and were looking to relax a bit after the craziness at the Mall of GA.  "Well," I thought, "there are about half a dozen [generic corporate coffee places] on this road, but if there's anything I've learned from living in Austin it's that you probably want a local place for coffee if you can get one."  I fired up the Yelp Android app and this place was the first on the list.  "Hmm...there are only 3 reviews, but it's at 5 stars.  That's promising."

I think it took less time to drive here than it took to get out of the mall parking lot.  It's located in a plain-looking strip mall, but once we got inside we were instantly taken with the cozy interior.  There is artwork by local artists all over the walls, a good variety of comfy and table seating, and free wifi.  The lady behind the counter (who we later learned was the owner) greeted us warmly.  She was incredibly friendly and funny, and seemed to genuinely enjoy chatting with us.  Plus, she makes a mean latte!  The espresso has the dark, rich flavor you get with really high quality beans.

We spent a couple hours in here and enjoyed every minute.  I highly recommend this place, it's a much better cup of coffee and you'll get  way more personality than [corporate coffee] down the street.

Been meaning to stop by this location for sometime now and boy I am glad that I finally did.  This little gem is locally owned and managed by the face behind the counter. It is a departure from the cold and faceless corporate stores we have all visited since coffee became cool.

I love that it is located next to (inside access to) the new/used book store next door. It's modern decor and warm atmosphere is what gives this place its charm.  I can really see this new place becoming a hot spot in the near future.

The menu over the counter offers a wide array of coffee and teas.  In addition they offer sandwiches and a variety of soda and bottled drinks.

Brew Awakenings was established with true coffee lovers in mind. It's an independent store coffee house, connected to an independent used/new bookstore.
We focus on quality, not quantity!

Meet the Business Owner: Jenn R.

Many people ask me what was going through my head when I decided to pursue this endeavor, and all I say is "why not"?

Throughout our lives we are approached with many opportunities and all of them have the potential to change our lives to varying degrees.
Initially, I just wanted to get my feet wet and I ended up jumping in head first and I would not trade everything that I've learned, lost or gained for anything in the world.

I have over 9 years of experience as a barista, a background in culinary arts and an avid independent coffee house supporter so this is a culmination of so many loves and facets of my life.

I honestly hope that people can taste the love in the cakes and lattes that I make, because it's in there!
