I'd like to say thank you to the owners of this place. It's EXACTLY what Bed Stuy needed. I was just thinking the other day how I needed to get a few bottles to stock up my wine fridge. I just didn't feel like schlepping wine from the city on the train. I didn't really know of a non-ghetto place in the neighborhood, within walking distance of my place, where I could get a decent bottle of wine without paying an arm and a leg. I had read about Breukelen Cellars and didn't realize it was so close. I randomly stumbled upon it as I was walking through the neighborhood.
It's a small place with a nice selection of affordable wines. I appreciate that there aren't an overabundance of choices, because my head would really be spinning. The choices are different than the usual well known brands. Fantastic!! I enjoy trying something new.
The art on the walls are for sale, and I believe, are done by a local artist. They have wine tastings every week. That's a big thumbs up. I now have my local wine shop in the hood. THANK YOU! -

So glad this gem exists on Nostrand. The store is cozy and well stocked. There were a lot of options available and the price point was decent as well. The woman behind the counter was friendly and let me know about the tasting and artist reception that would be held the next night--every month a new artist has their work featured in the store. I can definitely see myself stopping by to grab a bottle to go with dinner.

Okay, I initially thought I wouldn't be in much, but that hasn't been in the case. I stop in here often, sometimes twice in one week, and usally with my puppy. There are now more options $10 and under, and the owners and staff are quite personable. Also, there is now a rewards card, which I think is a great way to acknowledge the customers who frequent Breukelen Cellars. It's great to have this wine shop in the neighborhood.

Breukelen is another reason why I feel I was destined to live in my neighborhood. Breukelen has a really awesome selection of wines, its almost as if they were handpicked by someone with impeccable taste, you really can't go wrong. What I really like is the customer service. Usually I can go in and say something like "whats your best bottle of red at $10?" or "do you have anything South African?" and someone is able to guide me to the right bottle. I bought my New Years eve bubbly here and got to taste it before I bought it.

I get all silly and excited when I think about Breukelen Cellars.
The owners are fantastic. So friendly, and incredibly smart. They know what they're talking about, and if they don't, they say "try it and let us know" instead of BS'ing you into buying. The prices range from 10 - expensive, and the variety is unique. It's something different than what you usually find in the Stuy (if you're looking for Barefoot go to one of the millions of other liquor bodegas in the neighborhood that sell it). Try the dessert wine, you won't regret it.
They seem to have wine tastings every other week, and every time I walk by, there are customers. Also, the art on the wall is all done by local artists, and I believe it's for sale.
I heard some stupid meat heads talking about it on the subway, "who's gonna go to a place that just sells wine? That's dumb, they won't last long." In my head (because these guys were kind big and scary), my response was, "I will keep them in business", and then followed by "You're dumb! You won't last long". (I got a little defensive, I really like this place). -

Still the same classy casual wine store it has always been. It's the kind of place you can go without being intimidated by "wine snobs" and ask regular questions.
The store owner John is so cool and down to earth. I also found out he grew up in Bed-Stuy which is a nice plus. A hometown hero. John is smooth and makes you feel at ease.
They honor their discount offers too! You get good wine suggestions, good knowledge, good conversation and a pretty good deal. It's more like a holistic experience rather than just a spot to get your wine on. Keep keepin on Breukelen!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Just reiterating what everyone else has already said. This place is fantastic. Great selection of high quality yet still affordable wines. Knowledgeable and super friendly staff. A truly awesome addition to the neighborhood.

Really nice owners. Friendly and knowledgeable. Not cheap (not Trader Joe's) but a great place to get a bottle for a party or gift. And they have a few pinotages (my personal favorite). Support this fine local business!

I just love this Place. I found them on the first day they opened. The owners are nice and very informed. They have the best Moscato and good prices. When your not 21 any more its all about the wines!! lay back and relax with some Wine. This Place is Great and they Have a Wine tasting today!!

Breukelen Cellers makes my walk home so pleasant, they could not have picked a better location. I have been very pleased with their wine selection, it is definitely quality over quantity. I attended their grand opening wine tasting event and received great recommendations and wine. Their reasonable prices, frequent wine tasting events and excellent service make me a frequent customer. I love Breukelen Cellars and think these guys do a great job! They're knowledgeable about wine, friendly/approachable and have a really great selection of very accessible wines. To those who say there's not enough of a selection, I disagree. There is plenty to choose from. This is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. Check out the wine tastings on Friday eves. They also deliver.
