Review from K K.
Brooklyn, NY
I spent six weeks in Contra Costa and the Brentwood Yoga Center was my oasis. I've never come across a better deal (30 days for $30). I went several times a week and found myself to be part of a fantastic community of dedicated students and wonderful teachers.
The studio is very small but has a great vibe. They organize lots of events beyond classes and really care about their community. If I lived in Contra Costa, I would spend a lot of time and money there. -

I began yoga a handful of years ago, and I've practiced on and off in various studios in various locations throughout the East Bay. I was in desperate need of renewing my commitment to the practice for myriad reasons that were manifesting in the worst way -- back pain, migraines, excessive fatigue, depression ... you name it -- so I looked up what appears to be the only independent game in town and signed up for a Monday morning course.
Not unlike a prime time sitcom, I arrived to the Gentle Yoga class five minutes late, accidentally dropping my water bottle with a thud on the carpet, loudly jangled the door chimes and strove to keep my car keys from continuously clanging together -- this was all within seconds of my entrance. Doh! Fortunately, Sandy Carmellini, instructor and studio owner, was gracious about the whole scene, and I left the studio feeling refreshed and focused after class.
This morning I arrived without incident (ha!) to the Early Morning Movement and Meditation class (which is only $9 and starts @ 5:45 a.m.). The class is currently taught by Erica Hansen. She's reason enough to continue attending -- her soothing voice, her easy going manner, her beauty, her flow. I left feeling both relaxed and energized.
The studio is very small (as in 6-9 students is quite enough). There are no mirrors, which may or may not please you. (I find it less distracting.) It is carpeted, which I'm on the fence about because my neat-freak nature *really* wants to see it vacuumed, like, three times a day. The decor is charming and the wall colors are soothing. Overall, I'm satisfied. Here's to renewal and self-care :-) -

So I completed my 30days/30dollars. I WILL sign up for a class. I enjoy the Thursday evening classes. I feel refreshed and renewed after every class. I like that its a small studio and between 4 to 7 people that come in for class. Very intimate and personal. The yoga instruction from Rod has been amazing, his voice is soothing to me. I like that because it helps me to clear my mind and focus on my body and soul. Rod was away on a retreat and another instructor taught our class and I forget her name (I'm so sorry) but she was also AMAZING! Her voice is also soothing and pleasing to my ears. She turns on the light meditative music and it just goes along with the mood and energy in the air. I love it.
BYC supplies the blocks, belts, blankets and so on, YOU just need to bring your mat and water.
*high five* BYC! -

I've been playing around with yoga for the past 2 years. Never fully committing, but always meaning to. A year ago a friend suggested I look at the Brentwood Yoga Center. I made a mental note... and continued on with the yoga classes at my gym.
Recently, I experienced a tremendous loss and knew that I needed a positive outlet. I took advantage of Brentwood Yoga Center's new student special, 30 days for $30. What a bargain!
The studio is very welcoming, clean and aesthetically pleasing. The location... hard to beat. -

Oh my! where do I start?
Sandy Carmellini has created a "Haven for the Soul" in Brentwood, California. Her Yoga studio is a place where you can find community, heal your mind, body and heart - and receive the BEST Yoga instruction in the Bay Area!
I have known Sandy for over 8 years and she personifies integrity and caring in a way most people can only imagine. Her classes are joyful, challeging and precise.
Brentwood Yoga Center is also a place where you can find some REALLY COOL yoga stuff - like clothes, mats, jewelry, essential oils, incense and other cool yoga stuff.
Plus! There's a great community forming! Once a month Kirtan's and potlucks, weekend yoga retreats and even an Advance Yoga Studies training starting this March, 2010. I've me the NICEST people there! people I can relate to.
WOW ! Love it. Go check it out -you'll be hooked. -

Two years ago I was looking for a yoga studio that would take me beyond the experience I had at the gym. I tried the 30 day trial membership, which was great because it allowed me to try lots of differnt classes. The experience exceeded my high expectations. From classes to the awesome retreats and workshops, I have had amazing experiences I enrolled in the Teacher Training last March and am just finishing up. The community is amazing and my fellow yogini teacher trainees are now friends for life. Sandy' instruction methods are higly instructive, while her style is nurturing and encouraging. In addition the style promotes careful warm ups and instructions to prevent injuries. I'm sold and I think you will be also if you give it a try.

The Brentwood Yoga Center is the premier yoga center in Brentwood and is the most heavenly place on earth!!! I have been a faithful student of Sandy Carmellini's for 4 years now and she has patiently and knowingly helped me to build a regular practice in yoga that will truly last me a lifetime! Her classes are appealing to all ages and levels and I have had the pleasure of meeting and practicing with some of the most wonderful yogis through her studio and truly cannot sing enough praises!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you and if you haven't been stop giving yourself excuses and come practice...you'll see my shining face on Monday and Thursday evenings for sure!!!

Who are the four people who posted perfect scores? family ? Best friend? This place is a fancy shoe box ... small... cramped ... but well decorated ... Parking lot is empty most of the time ... what does that tell you ????
