Oakley, CA
This is a old use-to-be-small town spot. They feed you a lot of food. The biscuits and gravy are amazing. Don't get the full order, it's too much. I recommend a half order. They have them ready to order, until they run out! The omelettes are orgasmic. I will usually get a sausage omelette with cheese. They drizzle the cheddar cheese on top. Super yum. And the hash browns are crisp, just how I like them. I hope they NEVER close down!
I'm hungry now! -

Brentwood, CA
The Brentwood Café is a small hometown diner. It is a reflection of what was once a small agrarian town. A warm cozy spot to sit down a spell and eat some affordable home-style food. A trucker's pit stop on the way to anywhere. Over the years the Café has become affectionately know for its Liver & Onions, Spaghetti and Fried Chicken nights. The breakfast is amazing; huge portions, biscuits and gravy as well as the usual eggs and bacon. The place is always buzzing away with business and life.
The Café is located on Main Street which goes through the middle of town; Truckers come down this stretch of Road when exiting off of Vasco Road or coming from the 4 Delta Highway from Stockton. The building resembles a double wide mobile home. The parking lot is always packed but there is ample street parking. The inside of the place is decorated in some sort of country 70s theme. There are sconces that look like oil lamps, country art all over the walls for sale and wood grain walls. The seats are old and torn, the bathroom a scary mess and the tables are wobbly outdated Formica.
Although I am not a fan of the Lunch or Dinner menu, the breakfast menu is phenomenal. The selection is huge; and the portions are enough for people to share. The menu has eggs and bacon, huge omelets, chorizo and eggs, giant waffles and there well known biscuits and gravy. They serve both hash browns or breakfast potatoes; the breakfast potatoes are thick cut chunks that have caramelized onions in them. I make myself eat my whole plate of food even if I am going to suffer the pain of overeating...it is worth every morsel.
The menu is extensive, the service is good and the portions are gigantic and to top it all off the prices are cheap. The three of us ate for under 20 dollars; which included full entrees for each of us as well as al a cart toast, coffee and hot chocolate with whipped cream a mile high.
The same servers have been there since I started frequenting the place back in 1999. They are quick to get you seated, menus, coffee and whatever you might need.
The place is always crowded with all manner of people. Small groups, large after church groups, young couples and old. There is not just one kind of customer at the Café; it attracts all types. -

Since moving to Brentwood last year I've missed my old hometown breakfast spot. Came here this morning & I'm so happy we did.
Good service!!!! I'm all about service. :)
It was packed and the food didn't get to us super fast but the wait was reasonable and hot....love food that is served hot!!!
The food itself was great. Diner eggs always taste weird to me, but the eggs here were great. Biscuits & gravy were good too.
Overall I was very pleased with my experience & will be back. -

Santa Clara, CA
Kinda just eneded up here because it was the only place open at 6:30 am and needed a place to waste some time & eat while waiting for 8 am to roll around.
This definitely looks like a truck stop. Coming in thee was a lot of locals sitting at their usual tables. Very charming! We were seated right away. The menu is pretty extensive and there is pretty much any breakfast item you could want. We ordered the Bacon Mushroom Cheese Omlette, French Toast with Bacon, & Children's Pancakes.
First off the portion size is HUGE!!! Everything was excellent! The omlette was ozing with chesse, mushrooms & bacon. I wasn't even able to finish half of the omlette. My daughter's pancakes where a stack of 3 the size of a dinner plate. (she's one year old didn't even put a dent in them although she had a great time trying.) My husband's french toast where also a very large portion.
This is definitely a mom & pop rn establishment and a local hang out. I would definitely stop in again if I am ever in the area. Only downside is they don't have receipts. Since this was a business trip I needed to provide all my receipts for meal reimbursements. But with how good the food was I don't mind not being reimbursed. -

YUMMMM!! This place has the BEST pancakes I've ever tasted. And I've been doing an ongoing pancake quest (as has my mom) for many many years. They even top the pancakes at Sugar Plum in Concord, which no one has done before. You have to wait a lil longer than I normally like for the food, but it's well worth the wait. Just tried the waffles, and daaaaaang, just as good as the pancakes! Eggs and bread are super fresh, and bacon is super yum. Definitely don't pass this one by...

Based on Yelp reviews, my wife and I ventured out to this venue for breakfast this morning. Upon entering there's nobody to greet you, so we picked a table. Waitress's were very efficient spotting us and came up quickly with menus and fresh coffee. Food was brought out in a timely manner, and coffee cups and water were not neglected. And that's were the good experience ends.
My wife ordered a spinach, mushroom and cheese omelet. I ordered steak and eggs. Wife's eggs were overdone and soaked with grease from the grill, and the spinach had a strange filmy, ready for the compost box appearance. The whole plate had a very off-putting taste to it. My New York steak was half meat, half gristle, probably about 2 hours away from being declared unfit for human consumption. Both plates seemed to inherit a sour, greasy flavor from the grill.
So, the numbers 1 to 5 are:
Service- 5
Menu variety- 5
Food- 1

If this place was in San Francisco, there would be a long line of people every day, just waiting to get in!
The Joe's Eggs were delicious and the hash browns were perfect. -
Review from Ivy R.
A fellow yelper put out the call to head on over to the far East Side for some lunch. She was in unfamiliar territory and wanted me to introduce her to the stylings that is Brentwood.
It had been years since my last Brentwood Cafe visit. Like 10 years. I used to know the old owners. Even though I knew them didn't mean I thought the food was very good.
In fact the food was always sub par but filling. I'm happy to report that the new owners have really stepped up and made this place a very welcoming, homey, clean and above all good place to eat.
I went with the Jumbo Burger with Cheese. There is a perfectness that sometimes happens with cheese and meat. They have the timing down. The melt factor is what I'm looking for.
I got a side of fries that were you know good deep fried fries.
My lunch partner was surprised by how fresh the produce was on both our sandwiches. Tis' the season for fresh veggies, especially in Brentwood.
I wouldn't expect anything less. I'm glad this was my suggestion because I even gave her the warning beforehand that she may be disappointed. Thankfully food wise and price wise were were pleasantly surprised and royally full.
Ill always be coming back to this little B'wood pit stop.Listed in: Its Not A Song, Its A…, Small Business Support

i went to Brentwood cafe with my mom, i had the WORST service ever, we got seated and the waitress was rude, we asked for coffee and it was cold, my mom and i both ordered a simple ham and cheese omlet, with hash browns, it took almost 30 min to get our food and they werent even busy, then wen my food came out my omlet was raw from the middle, i told the waitress and she asked if i would like another one i had to say no because i totally lost my appitite, then wen my mom finished eating the waitress gave us our check i seen she had charged me fully for my omlet that was not even eatin i told her and she said well i cant do nothn about it, it made me sooo upset, i will NEVER return to tha place.

Brentwood, CA
I can't say enough about this place, it's just the best food for the money in Town! I usually come here about once or more a week, usually on Friday's when they offer the Clam Chowder. Everything is good but my go to meals are the Salisbury Steak, Jumbo Cheese Burger with Bacon & Mushroom, and the Reuben Sandwich. They also have the best Dr. Pepper on tab...I know it sounds funny but they do. My regular waitress Coline is awesome and does a great job of reqularly checking up on you to make sure you don't need anything else or gets it if you do. I really haven't had a bad waitress there or experiance, so overall the service is excellent. If you are looking for comfort food at a price cheaper than you can make it, then this is your place!!!!!

Pleasantly surprised! I've been working out in Brentwood and really need some new lunch spots for the rare days I don't bring my own lunch.
I was overjoyed to meet up with an awesome East Bay Yelper here, too, so the experience was enhanced. She had to sit and wait for my late ass, but at least there was a little chair in the hallway she could sit in. There's a huge parking lot in the back that's helpful since it's right off busy Brentwood Blvd, aka Hway 4. Plenty o Parking.
We got a table in the middle room, the place sort of rambles, and there's the lunch counter area up in the front, a main eating area, and then another rather large room in the back. They are ready to feed a crowd.
Typical diner menu, with all kinds of heavy hot lunch meals, as well as all kinds of sandwiches. I got a Turkey Club and ya know, it was really good! I learned here to get 'lightly toasted' bread on those things. It finally occurred to me that if I just stop ordering toasted bread, the roof of my mouth won't kill when I bite down. I was relieved to find juicy red tomatoes and nice bright green pieces of iceberg lettuce on my sandwich. Probably my luck with it being summer and all, but still made the sandwich much better!
Lunch-mate got the burger. I wouldn't get ground beef here without knowing if they ground it in house or not, but it seemed to satisfy her!
I went with the whole diner theme and got coffee with my meal, which was of course weak by my standards, but it did the trick. They have the on-the-table creamer. Refills keep coming.
Super, Super sweet waitress. I guess I have gotten used to not- such friendly service in the city; she was such a breath of considerate, professional, albeit a little forgetful;fresh air!
2 for lunch our bill was $14! I call that a deal....this could become a habit. Or maybe a monthly treat. -

This cafe is great! We took a large group and had the back room all to ourselves. The service was excellent, quick to take orders and quick to deliver. And the food, OMG, come hungry or share. The meals are huge. Everything that came out looked yummy and all of our group enjoyed their meals.
I ordered soup and 1/2 sandwich. My large bowl of thick flavorful Clam Chowder loaded with clams and potatoes was great. I had a 1/2 sandwich BLT and it was good too. I really enjoyed my lunch.
I would go back for sure and would love to try one of their breakfasts that looked scrumtious.
Go try the Brentwood Cafe if you want a good hearty meal.
We also never had an empty cup of coffee always filled up as we drank and it was cold outside so we drank a lot.
The prices are really good, most dinners under $10.00 now where can you get a hearty meal for under $10.00 that is actually good. -

Stockton, CA
This place started out as a Truck Stop and Farmers gathering place 70 or 80 years ago when Brentwood was a small farm town of about 1,000 or less population.
The current owners have been running the place since early 2007, but have not changed the place from the diner that it has always been.
Large portions and lots of comfort food. Breakfasts are the busiest time, but the breakfast menu is served all day. Lunch/Dinner specials are often a real value. The food is tasty and fresh and I wanted to rate it at 4 1/2 stars.
I would have liked to give it a 5 star rating but they put a slice of American cheese under the ham on the Eggs Benedict. I suppose it was to put their own twist on a dish but it made it seem more like an Egg McMuffin. Eggs Benedict have enough fat and calories without adding more.
I just wish I were younger and could eat all of the calories. The portions are for a young working man and not an old guy like me. Guess I will have to stick to the Senior Menu. :-) -

Brentwood, CA
First visit in several years... it had gone downhill after an ownership change. I'm glad to say that based on this limited, take-out order visit, they appear to be "back".
I was craving biscuits and gravy and relied on other Yelpers recommendations to give it a try (again). They were terrific! Not the best I've ever had, but really good, not chincy on the gravy, biscuits were tender and flakey, made me a happy boy for breakfast.
I also ordered several breakfast burritos for the rest of the fam - kids and wife complained that they were too spicy for them. I didn't try them, they looked good and smelled good. No opinion either way on my part.
I'll be back... -

No one likes going to the mechanic because you know it's gonna be harmful to your wallet!! However, there's one thing I'll be ooking forward to the next time I see my mechanic (who happens to be 60 miles away from where I live) is to eat breakfast at Brentwood Cafe. I LOVE these small town restaurants with the neighborhood feel. Even more so, when it's breakfast. The place looked small from the front, but it's pretty big on the inside! I was very surprised.
I had an egg white omelette with onions, mushrooms, spinach and a side of salsa. YUMMM. home potatoes were heavenly I would order it again in an instant. Service was fantastic - I never had to flag anyone down for coffee or water.
I am a fan! Will be back! -

Brentwood, CA
I LOVE Brentwood Cafe! I've lived in Brentwood practically my whole life and it has been in business for as long as I can remember. It might not be fancy, but the people, the food and the prices are great. To this day, I have not found another small town restaurant that compares. Brentwood Cafe is one of those restaurants that you can go to for Sunday breakfast with the family or brunch with your friends after a long night out.
My favorite thing to order: Two eggs with home fries (the best) and wheat toast - costs only $4.50 and portions are pretty big! And I can't forget the coffee!
I once got a big bowl of fruit for breakfast, with a side of eggs, and the waitress mentioned that the owner comes in early and cuts fresh fruit every morning.
If you're ever in Brentwood, or just passing through, it's well worth the try. -
Review from Jenn N.
To say it's casual is an understatement.
Hey, we're at church camp! Didn't you know?
I half expected them to hand me a menu that looked like:
DINNER MENU:
Monday - Pasta with tomato sauce, salad, garlic bread, dessert
Tuesday - Meatloaf, baked potato, green beans, dessert
Wednesday - Roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, dessert
Thursday - Lasagna, salad, garlic bread stick, dessert
Dinners will be served with iced tea and water. Milk will be available. Fresh vegetable will be served depending on availability.
-------------------------------------------------- -------------
But they didn't. They have a pretty extensive menu. A ton of comfort food. We ordered an omelette & french toast. We noted that it was very similar to what I make at home and well, that is a good thing. :)
If you can get past the cork board business card explosion, ancient wall sconces, padded metal chairs in shades of green or orange, brightwhitespeckled formica tables, poorly renovated/step-down into the cafeteria type rooms, dark wood paneling and in-door/out-door carpet - you'll enjoy a good meal.
Everyone seems to know everyone in here. They are quick to welcome new faces. -

Brentwood, CA
This place knows exactly what it is and does it very well.
It's diner, short order food done as good as it gets at a great value.
Breakfast is the main attraction and I've never had anything that disappointed. Side of linguica was super...fried and browned just perfectly. Omelets, potatoes, biscuits& gravy good.
Dinners are good. If your Grandma was a decent cook, it's like going to her house for dinner.
No other coffee shop, cafe, or diner does this stuff better consistently. -

If you are looking for a down-home dining experience, this is as good as it gets! The food is good, but the staff and owners really make this place! As soon as you walk in the door they make you feel like you have walked in to their home and greet you with a warm smile. Even the other customers always have a happy smile for us! This is a gem in Brentwood and if you have not experienced it---what are you waiting for?

I've gone here a few times for breakfast and there's always so much to choose from so I've never gotten tired of it. Plus the food is amazing, how could I ever get tired of it? The portions are huge so come hungry. I definitely didn't expect the portions to be so big. The prices are really good considering the amount they give you and the quality of the food. Both times I've gone, the servers were extremely friendly and checked up on my table often, even when it was really crowded. I'm never really in the area, but if I ever go back, this restaurant is definitely on my list of places to revisit.

We just moved to the area from San Ramon and were in seach of a great place.. This place is it. Breakfast is great, huge portions and comes out hot & fast. I love how all waiters walk around to ensure your beverage doesn't go low. Dinner is fabulous as well. The servings are sooo huge.
I love how after one visit, the waitress remembered our exact order from last time, and got to notice my son. -

Since the days of Liberty this place has been a staple for the most important meal of the day. 5 years later I still can't believe how bumpin' this place can get on a Sunday morning. You're got everyone there, from the old folks who talk way too much about the weather to the younger crowd that you likely went to High School with and now have to avoid because you don't want deal with meaningless conversation and catch up with someone you didn't like in the first place. Although, seeing someone you went to school with who's now pregnant is kinda funny...
For my breakfast choice:
Coffee, Iced Water and to eat: Two Eggs any Style.
Eggs scrambled, bacon, hash browns, sourdough and sliced avocado on the eggs.
Man, this review is making me hungry...

Brentwood cafe isn't fancy, but they serve the best all american breakfast. in town I love their California Benidict and my husband can't get enough of their french toast. Their staff is really friendly, they open really early and it's nice to eat has a place that has a ton of "regulars". Your wasting your money and appetite if you go to Denny's or Mimi's.

Went here coz of all the nice reviews. A nice place to grab breakfast- nice portions and tasted pretty good. Our party got steak and eggs, denver omelette, artichoke and sausage omelette and a calif. benedict. Everything came out hot and tasty, and piled high with hash browns or home fries. Friendly and casual, and I assume all locals.
