Breathe Salon is a great local place for women especially if you're african american. Not many salons here cater to black woman, but the employees here know what they're doing & are very good at making sure you get done only want you want with your hair. It does get a bit pricey after getting a relaxer if you get your hair cut & styled too, but I say it's worth it for the condition my hair comes out afterwards. I've only be there twice so far, and it's just been excellent

Okay. I am not usually one who writes negative reviews. Normally I forget or get tired mid way through...THIS...I am so stark raving pissed about, if I can save one womans hair, my review will have done its job.
Let me start with the pro's : the people are REALLY friendly. Everybody is so sweet and nice and friendly. They offered me refreshments when I came through the door. I love refreshments. Ummm.... thats about it..
CONS: Let me just say, I am a black female with NATURAL, curly, 3C/4A texture hair. It's relatively easy to manage and not difficult to do at all. I usually do it myself, but I was like eh, let me treat myself to a nice salon experience. Not only did they give me the crappiest shampoo of my LIFE (no scrubbing whatsoever) but THEN, they "detangled" (which they refered to as "raking") my hair from ROOT to TIP by stabbing a comb into my head and dragging it through, jerking my head in every direction. That should have been reason enough for me to grab my things and go, but I was like No. Let me give this salon a chance. -____-. So then, I let the stylist know that I need the ends at the top of my head clipped. I trim my own ends to avoid bad hair cuts, but I figure HEY, what the hell. Whats the worst they can do? I gave them SPECIFIC DIRECTION not to cut the back of my hair because I had JUST gotten it trimmed, and what do they do? CUT MY HAIR ALL OVER!!! Not even in a nice, complimenting cut. No no, in a nasty blunt cut. NO SHAPE WHATSOEVER. I look like I got my hair trimmed in lady jail. They may as well have given me a prison tattoo while they were at it. So okay. I can't really see the damage they did yet because my hair is still curly and they're distracting me with pointless conversation. So then they start to blow my hair out. Only halfway through did I notice that they didn't put a DROP of heat protectant in it. My hair felt like STRAW. The ends felt nasty and rough. MY HAIR FEELS LIKE A CACTUS. It didn't even have any sheen by the time they got done BARBECUING it off my head with their ULTRA SUPER DUPER hot flat iron. It LOOKED okay when they finished. I didn't really inspect my hair until I got home because I was in a huge rush. Upon my arrival home and while looking in my bathroom mirror is when I noticed that they cut 874093873270087 MILLION LAYERS into my hair and that they flat ironed it to look like a HELMET. It was only when I did some damage control and put some CHI Silk Therapy in my hair then flattened out the ends of my hair that it looked half-decent. Its still poofy and DRY and straw-feeling. For all the heat they stressed onto my hair, they didn't even straighten my roots all the way! They claim to specialize in "natural" ethnic hair but I don't actually think they know what "natural" hair is. I think they do relaxed hair and weaves mostly. So here I am. Angry and bitter that my hair looks like a bad wig, typing this review, running my fingers through my hair every now and then and getting pissed all over again every time I feel how SHORT and nasty it is. I WOULD just wash it and wear it curly but Im scared to see how short its going to be curly. Ive had better straighten jobs done at beauty schools!!! IF YOU ARE ETHNIC WITH NATURAL HAIR PLEASE PLEASE PLEAAAAASE DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON FOR ANY HAIR SERVICES. AND NOOOOBODY SHOULD COME HERE FOR A HAIRCUT. Im utterly PISSED! Waste of money, time and travel. Will never step foot into that salon again unless they're glueing my hair back onto my ends & REFUNDING ME. -

I got the worst haircut of my life her. They do not listen at all and just cut your hair however they feel it would look best. Oh and you'll get all kinds of remarks on how this side of your face is the better side and how your face is or isn't symmetrical. I'm normally not the type of person to get too upset with a bad haircut but I was in tears after this one (which cost $60). I went back in and they refused to fix it or give me my money back. Won't make that mistake again.
