I'm no massage expert or connoisseur, but I really like BreakPoint. I discovered them through a PopSugar deal last year. I bought a pack of three 30-minute massages and planned to share with a friend, but I liked them so much I ended up using all three on myself. Whoops.
They get points for being:
1. Effective
2. Non-sensual
3. Super nice
This is the only place I would consider going to for a massage. I especially recommend them to people who need work done but are totally not into oils, lotions, aromatherapy, or being naked. -

For xenophobes who don't like getting naked in strange places and don't like being touched by strangers, massage is by and large out of the question. Enter BreakPoint!
Tucked into the bottom floor of the Crocker Galleria (aka Strangest Mall in SF) across from a Ralph Lauren home store and an outpatient snoring clinic, Breakpoint offers a no-nonsense, clean and peaceful environment. No patchouli, no beaded curtains, no butterfly tattoos, no happy endings! Just sit down and let a skilled masseuse go to work.
The pricing structure is great also. $13 for every 10 minutes. I tried the 20 minute reflexology for my inaugural visit and was shocked how quickly the time went by. If you can squeeze in for a half hour during your lunch break, you won't care about anything that happens the rest of your day. -

BreakPoint is the best massage option when you don't have time or budget to go for the full spa-type table massage.
Actually, chair and table massage are two completely different ways to gain relief and relaxation, as well as getting back in balance and centered, so you're able to focus and get back on track. The big difference is time and price.
I love the prices at BraakPoint, and the ease of popping in for a 10, 20 or 30 minute massage. No clothes to change, gel or oil to wash off, just in and out, which is perfect for those stressful work days, after the gym or just as a little treat for yourself. -

Update:
1. I appreciate that BreakPoint responded to my review to apologize.
2. I appreciate that BreakPoint gave me a refund.
3. What I DON'T appreciate is that they posted a comment to my review NINE times in just over three weeks. No, not nine different comments... just altering the one comment a bit so that I would get a notification that they posted a comment. Hmm... I think they are trying to get me to delete/change my negative review.
So sorry... still one star.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I came here today because I just couldn't stand the pain anymore. I've had a stiff neck the last few days, tight shoulders and headaches. I was going to go to the spa this week to get a massage but the pain was too much & I couldn't wait that long. So I searched Yelp to see if there was some place I can go near my office and Break Point Chair Massage was the first this that I saw.
It was 2 blocks away (at Crocker Galleria), the price was right ($39 for 30 minutes) and it got great reviews on Yelp so I called them. I was so happy that they were able to take me within the hour. Adam was the person who worked on me and he was very good. I liked that he explained what he was going to do and what to expect & he talked about the different pressure points. During the treatment he kept checking on me to make sure the pressure was ok.
I felt relief afterwards. He not only worked on my trouble spot but he worked on my entire back (upper & lower), my hands, fingers & scalp. I was able to move my neck around, my shoulders were not as tight and my headache eventually disappeared. I was so happy. Now that I know that they're near by I think I will start going every other week. -

I have been going to BreakPoint Massage since their beginning. Adam and every masseuse there are the best thing about working in the downtown area. I love this place!
A hard stressful day with muscle tension and knots can ease away in 10 - 20 minutes. If I have a headache I go straight over to one of their chairs and the headache is gone before I leave. I go during my lunch hour and by the time I get back to work my whole perspective has changed. Work is fun again.
Every masseuse is professional, friendly and very very VERY good at what they do. Massage is something that you cannot do for yourself, so don't think of it as a luxury. Everyone should give give them a try. They're the best!
Thanks for being there!!!! -

I'll be honest. I wasn't expecting much from a place that only does chair massages. But the knots in my shoulders and back were killing me and I need something done at that very minute. I had traveled by several times and not tried them before. Wow, this was definitely a pleasant surprise!
The staff was very friendly and well trained in several modalities of massage. The first 30 seconds they loosened up my neck and I knew I hadn't made a mistake. I wasn't very sore after but definitely was much looser and the knots were almost completely gone. Very impressive for a first visit!
I will be going back. It was awesome and really did the trick. Highly recommended! -

This place is perfect. I went here because I had a headache that started yesterday and today I still have it. This type of headache feels a certain way and overtime I've learned that it's usually caused by something pinched or knotted. I tried getting it out last night, but no luck.
I came here and they were great. They had a drop in spot open when I came in the morning and it was nice. I did a 30 minute massage and in the early part of it is when he found some pretty tight spots. When he was done working on that part of my back the headache was gone!!!
The service was great. The people were friendly and nice. I will definitly come back here, and maybe even when I don't have a headache. I'm glad to know such a reasonably priced and helpful shop is near my work!!
Go here. It's so worth your dollars. (I was charged $39 for 30 minutes and then I tipped.) -

MMMMMMMMMMMassage.
I've been coming to Breakpoint (and it's successor, Zubio) for several months now and it has really helped my scrunchy neck and back. I work in front of a computer all day (who doesn't?) and get kind of jacked up after a while. The masseuses at BP use their wonderful acupressure skills to loosen everything and send you on your way feeling blissful. They always check to see if the pressure is right for you, so don't be afraid to speak up.
I try to go on alternate Fridays so I can start my weekend off feeling calmed and and relaxed.
Highly recommended!Listed in: Keeping in the pink of health

Break Point is not your typical chair massage. They specialize in a pressure point massage that is very structured. You get the same/consistent points hit each and every time you visit. No guessing how you will feel when done. I have found the more I go, once a week to every other week, my back, neck, and shoulders stay free of kinks. I really like the fact that they are located downtown and am able to get a quick massage between meetings. I like the idea of getting a 10 or 20 minutes massage and only having to be out of the office for 20 or 30 minutes. Adam, the owner and massage therapist, is a very likable guy who makes a great effort to give great customer service. I look forward to visiting Break Point and highly recommend you treat yourself too.

Dropped by on Friday during my lunch break because my shoulders and back had been killing me for the whole week. I went in around 12:30 and there was no wait, so I guess it was my lucky day!
I forgot his name.....but he was very nice and gave me a very good upper-body massage. I told him I could handle hard-pressure and man, he was strong! He worked on some of my knots and it felt very relieving.
The prices are actually pretty good. In fact, I was surprised that they didn't charge you a fortune for being in the FiDi. First timers get $5 off, too!
I see myself becoming a regular at Breakpoint...I just have to make appointments ahead of time and devour my lunch very fast so I can have time! -

I just got back from my first visit from Breakpoint and I feel like a million bucks! The other review hit the nail on the head with the video post of the 500 Days of Summer dance - that is exactly how I felt. David has a great touch and is very receptive to what I was feeling.
As a student of acupuncture, I can attest to the benefits of tonifying or sedating specific points throughout the body. Working on those points not only helps treat local back stiffness and soreness, but it also helps improve energy throughout the entire body - which is why everyone leaves so happy!
If you can find 10 (good), 20 (better) or 30 (best) minutes during your day or after work, I highly highly highly recommend paying these guys a visit. Your body and your mind will be so glad you did! -

I used to go to this place frequently when it was Zubio. I was so happy to find out that it wasn't closed forever, but that my favorite masseuse from Zubio has acquired it AND that the prices are actually lower!
The massage technique itself is awesome and very rejuvenating. I'm a massage fanatic who needs to get them on a somewhat regular basis and wouldn't have thought that 20 or 30 min chair massage could make such a difference, but it really does! The hard part is going back to work after such a relaxation ;). It really is a treat to self to get this once a week, especially for us office-people who spend the day in front of the computer typing away with bad posture. Great place, great central location! -

As a copywriter, I tend to hold a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders. While I'd given people gift certificates to Zubio (Breakpoint's predecessor) many times, I'd never treated myself to their services until my cousin gave me the equivalent of four pre-paid 20-minute Breakpoint sessions for my birthday. Adam, the owner (and also a masseur), is a super-friendly, knowledgeable guy, although my sessions have been with his phenomenal colleague, David -- whose touch is blissfully relaxing. Seriously, I want to stay in his chair all day long. The Japanese acupressure techniques they use really improve your circulation and instantly revitalize you ... all during a quick break. I'm SO hooked. MY ONLY WARNING: There is a 96.782% chance that your walk back to the office following a Breakpoint massage will look something like this: http://www.youtube.com...

Adam is a wonder masseuse who use to work at Zubio and has started up BreakPoint. I've received massages from Adam for over a year when he worked at Zubio. Adam and Roen are by far my favorite at Zubio. I am glad to see that he is able to continue on in this space.

I love this place. My back was hurting so much from all of the stress of life as usual but I didn't have time for a full on massage. The 30 minute massage got rid of all the tension and my back feels great. It's amazing how just a quick massage can loosen up the muscles and relax my entire body.

I work at a desk all day and often suffer from a stiff neck. I walked by this place in the Croker galleria and noticed that they offer 10,20 and 30 minute chair massages. Prices were decent at $13 per 10 minutes, so I stopped in and gave it a try. I was given a Japanese accupressure massage that had me leaving a much better man. Although I didn't time it, I'm pretty sure my 10 minute session went on for longer. What a nice way to improve on one's day! I'd had a half hour massage earlier in the week elsewhere which was ok, but this 10 minutes massage did much more for me than the that one every did. Very nice staff and it was obvious the masseur knew what he was doing. So if you need a quick massage and you're located in the area give this place a shot-- they take walk-ins.

I've only had a few massages in the past, but after having one from Breakpoint Professional Chair Massage, I will definitely be returning there for more in the future. The ambiance is very calming, and Adam is very sweet and non-threatening. I liked that the chair was completed wiped down with a sanitizing wipe and a new cover placed over the head rest before he started. The massage itself was very soothing and Adam kept checking with me to make sure he was applying a comfortable amount of pressure. The stress I had in my shoulder blades (from working on a computer all day), was worked out in no time and my entire upper back, arms and neck have never felt so relaxed. The rates are very reasonable and worth every penny!

This place is awesome. Adam is a great masseuse who uses Japanese accupressure, which is a holistic approach to massage. I got 5 bucks off with my student ID, too. I hightly recommend checking this place out! My back and shoulders feel much better!
