joined some travel companions who decided against a more expensive restaurant for breakfast. i found the decor to be kitschy and beachy. The prices were fair (for a tourist town), the service was friendly. the menu was more than decent, with a dozen daily specials. It seemed like many items had the word "breakfast" attached and then became "breakfast specials." You know, that's efficiency in a restaurant: using a lot of the same ingredients. I got an omelet with shrimp, tomatoes, spinach and cheese, which was very good, served with wheat toast and potatoes. The portions were decent. I can't speak about the coffee but the water was clear and fresh. the food was fresh and healthy, I would come back again if I find myself stopping in Stinson again.

The manager here is the rudest person I've ever met. My family use to eat here every other weekend - but not after today. We brought friends here today for breakfast at 9:30am and ended up staying and ordering lunch at 11:15. All-in-all between the four of us we had spent well over $100 on two meals each here. FIVE minutes after we finished our lunch, and the cappichino's we had ordered were still hot and we were enjoying them while wrapping up our conversation - the manager came over and he asked us to leave to make room for other customers. I was stunned!
1) we had literally JUST finished our second meal; and
2) there was an empty table right next to us!
It'd be one thing if we had just been drinking coffee for 2.5 hours but the FOUR of us were eating the whole time. They just lost a consistent customer, and the numerous friends we use to bring here. Sadly that they don't realize the value in customer service or loyal (or use to be loyal) customers. Shame. Good luck...I guess being one of the only breakfast shops in town gives them a sense of entitlement.
Even sadder, the only photo that is in their Facebook page is of my 2 month old daughter in their restaurant. Guess that won't happen again! -

Took the ride up to Mount Tamalpais, down the back side to Bolinas and ended up here, hungry and a bit dizzy from all of the twists and turns. We had the chicken and waffles, along with the chicken fried steak and eggs. Nothing phenomenal, but good sized portions and greasy enough to paradoxically settle the stomach butterflies.
To the couple in front of us who ordered enough food for an army and then was upset by the bill - um, order less next time? Keep track of what you order? Think before you open your mouth? Cause it was kinda ugly when you did. -

Hmm, 9 dollars for a sliced bagel, 3 slices of tomato, and 2 slices of avocado all just thrown into a box, do your own assembly style. That's what made up the breakfast avocado-tomato sandwich to go here here. No condiments, unless you count the piece of cheese on one side of the box.
Fine if you're a starving tourist or heading over to the incredibly lovely Stinson beach or a hungry hiker coming back from one of the great hikes here, or if you just want to sit down enjoy the beach town cutesiness ( don't get me wrong, I adore cutesiness) , but other than that, the place is typical tourist --overpriced, so-so service ( the sand-dollar across the street has way friendlier people) , and they don't take credit cards for anything less than 10 dollars. -

This is definitely the place to go for breakfast and brunch, but I'd think twice about coming back for lunch. It's not the kind of place to go to if you're craving fish and chips and clam chowder. Instead, the menu is loaded with Mexican dishes. I did not go wrong with a burger and crinkle cut fries, which were made well. The burrito was a wet burrito with weak salsa poured on top. It was big and well worth the dollar, but contained white rice and loads of thin sour cream. The carne asada was thin and dicey. It did not compare to other carne asada burritos, dry or wet. The quesadilla looked great and came with a small side salad which contained thin slices of jicama even. It looked very fresh. The chile verde was savoury and the pork was soft. They have a mad bloody mary, which I regret not trying. There are some good, standard Californian beers on tap.
Prices aren't exactly cheap, but it's The outdoor seating is great on warm days and there's an oyster bar out there too. The restrooms aren't terribly clean, but acceptable. The wifi is free and perhaps more reliable than cell phone service. The password chages daily, but is freely shown on a chalkboard inside. The decor is homey and just what you'd imagine a cozy little beach town cafe would be. -

Friendly service, comfortable seating, reasonable prices, delicious food, overall great vibe.
I had the pork chili verde and it was delicious. A huge portion of stew with rice and beans and tortillas...I shared it with my friend and we were both satisfied. The oysters are quite good too. As it the bloody mary. The coffee is ok, a little on the weak side.
I love this place...a wonderful place to eat lunch in Stinson beach. -

So this is an update mainly in response to Melissa K comment. It is simply not true that baby's are unwelcome. I have been to Breakers many a time and twice with my best friend and her baby. The staff was super helpful moving umbrellas to make sure the little dude got shade. The little man even has a onesie from the owners place across the street, not sure how much more baby friendly you get for not being a gymboree.
BTW, I am now in love with the burgers here. I think about them at 2am sometimes and wish there was a Breakers in Oakland.
How about a Breakers in Jack London Square?1 Previous Review: Show all »

Solid fish tacos!
After a long drive up the 1, we stopped by Stinson for a quick nosh and were happy to find Breakers. Casual, beachy, and with easy prices, we ordered the fish tacos and Anchor. While not mind-blowing, the food was well-priced and tasty. -

Great place to escape fromt he cold. I didn't try any of the food, so I can't leave a higher rating for now. There were quite a few flies which was a little off-putting but it didn't stop us from ordering hot cocoa which was pretty tasty. There is a fire place and an ATM inside, so a good place to stop during travel.

Came to Stinson for the day w/a friend.
Food was good. I ordered the #3 Breakfast Enchilada for lunch : ) Quite delicious. Tomatoes, avocados, potatoes, goat cheese, green chili sauce and w/egg whites. Very filling!!
Also ordered the fresh guacomole w/salsa and chips. Yummy...but I have had better.
The service was quick and friendly. Great staff!
They will allow pets on the outside porch, AS LONG AS THEY ARE ON A LEASH. -

A comfortable and delightful stop along the coastal highway. We were treated with superb customer service and made to feel right at home. The atmosphere was great, very relaxed. The food came in a very timely manner and boy was it good! I thoroughly enjoyed the oatmeal and a spinach, mushroom, tomato egg scramble with crunchy potato cubes. YUM! My only complaint, though it doesn't really count as an actual complaint, is that they have TOO MANY great meal options! It was so hard to choose! Strong coffee. Refreshing ice tea.
Oh, and they serve breakfast every day! How cool! -

This place is a fabulous little establishment. It's pretty much the best place to stop off in Stinson beach. I saw the breakfast enchilada and it looked fantastic!

Relaxing little spot for a lunch meal or snack. Unpretentious, slightly beach hippy atmosphere. Cozy setting after a long hike. I like that they have reclining chairs in the front corner near the window. The chicken tortilla soup was brothy and offered lots of chicken. Hearty enough for a post-hike meal. Decent vegetarian offerings like portabello mushroom and spinach quesadilla. Patio setting is probably very nice on a sunny day.

Don't know about lunch, but breakfast was way overpriced for what you get. Two 6" pancakes and a half a banana, sliced, for $10.50 ???? The banana and nutella sandwich was so-so. And the hot chocolate was like warm milk - not hot, nor chocolatey.

What a sweet little relaxing place, with an outdoor oyster and hot dog bar!
We came here for breakfast after a night without electricity, at a cliff side cabin. All we craved was a hot meal and this place really delivered! This is more like a Mexican style cafe, with tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos, etc etc.
We ordered mocha, Uncle Pete's Omelet (shrimp, avocado, jack cheese & pica de gallo), Rocky's Omelet (roasted chicken, corn salsa). They both come with house potatoes and tortilla.
The house potatoes were well flavored. The crispy exterior was coated with a light layer of seasoning, even without ketchup, the seasoning was well balanced with the meal and not overly salted.
My shrimp omelet was so good!! The shrimps were really fresh with this bouncy texture and translucent pink glow. The buttery flavor blended well with my creamy, stringy jack cheese and soft avocado. Also, the fluffy eggs that wrapped the ingredients together really completed the meal with that pica de gallo tarty kick!
The chicken omelet was OK... the chicken tasted very "wild". It has that wild, chickeny flavor. It's hard to describe but it smelled almost gamy. The flavor and texture were alright - it's pulled meat blended with a mixture of spices and salsa... but the gamy taste was slightly unsettling.
Overall, I would recommend this place for brunch, and maybe Sand Dollar across the street for dinner (they just seemed to have a classier menu for dinner, even though we didn't get to try it, they were packed at dinner time!).Listed in: Omelet on Benedict topped with…

After slowly pedalling a loaded touring bike up the hills of Highway 1 I needed a break. The patio looked appealing, if just so I could keep an eye on my bike, and the menu looked to be a nice mix, vaguely Mexican, and a nice assortment of breakfast foods.
I sat down to a breakfast burrito and was incredibly impressed, not only because a breakfast burrito might be the greatest way to fuel an adventure ever, but also because it was remarkably well done. One of the joys of a breakfast burrito is that it does such a good job of hiding lacklustre ingredients; even dry eggs, limp vegetables and burnt potatoes can come together with enough hot sauce to be half decent.
I don't know why I went on so long about a bad breakfast burrito, since that is anything but the case at Breakers Cafe; the ingredients are all top notch. The eggs were cooked splendidly, they were tender and moist, with just enough tooth to provide a satisfying texture to the burrito. The vegetables were crisp and flavourful, and the beans were tender and rich. As an avid fan of the breakfast burrito, I was deeply impressed by the quality of food at the Breakers Cafe, and would return in an instant. -

We stopped in here as it used to be very similar to Sand Dollar and we had always gotten the oyster shooters. Well, I guess they have since changed ownership (same owner as Sand Dollar now) and it has become Mexican. Not really a bad thing since variety would be good in Stinson Beach area.
We got the fish tacos and the breakfast burrito with chorizo, potatoes and eggs.
THe fish tacos were NOT worth ever ordering again. For $9.95 I got 2 tiny obviously frozen pieces of fish with some marinated red onions. That's it folks! No salsa. No rice and beens. 2 tiny fish tacos that I can get for $1 on a taco truck and get more toppings. Not even salsa was served with it!
The burrito, however, was very good. I would order it again. It was a giant burrito filled with lots of meat and eggs and potatoes. Luckily, since I was still starving, I took a few bites of this to satisfy my hunger.
I really think that they need to be a little more consistant about the serving sizes and think a little harder about those fish tacos...... I won't be back for them for sure! I'd stick with the burrito next time. -

There was a fire going during a somewhat foggy day at Stinson Beach. Loved the strong coffee. Lunch entrees were yummy, but the reuben sandwich had grisly meat that made it extra messy to eat as I extracted the best parts of the meat (glad we sat next to a pile of napkins). I won't order that again, but my companions had a great burger, a huge burrito (that I was told was tasty), & 2 chicken tacos with avocado.

I like how they do it here. You walk in order at the counter and sit where ever you want. We found a huge bench seat in the corner that fit us well. Lots of south American/old west influence. Breakfast was good, simple, and quick. Prices are a little high, but relatively cheap for the area. There's lots of space inside and has an easy going vibe. Heated seating outside. Can't go wrong here. Free Wi-Fi too. Oh, and the coffee ain't bad.

They make THE BEST bloody mary's (OR "virgin" mary's) that I think I've ever had (other than my own)! They give you a garnish stick with it that's loaded with goodies, including something I'm not sure what it was, but it was delicious! It's almost a meal in itself! Their gaucamole tastes homemade and fresh, as well as their salsa... friendly people, great service!

Place your order inside, and then sit outside in the sun with your order number. There is tons of seating both inside and outside, and the staff has efficiency down to a science. So simple. They had all of the essentials after a 4 hour hike. Coffees, free water refills outside, beer, breakfast, huge chocolate chip cookies, krinkle-cut fries, quesadillas, HUGE burritos... not to mention, it's walking distance from the beach and some of the best trails in this adorable town.

I work across the street from Breaker's. I have had lunch there probably a dozen times in the last 3 weeks. All the food looks great. I am pretty sold on the Carne Asada Taco Salad and the Carne Asada Nachos...oh, and the coffee is strong and hot! The have an espresso machine, but I have been quite happy with house coffee. This place is being run by an ol local, he loves our town and he loves food. He recently has added a Oyster and Hot Dog stand. You can just walk up and get a dog to go, or you can stay and have a cold beer with it. I give this warm and friendly restaurant five stars.

Rocky's omelet, Uncle Pete's omelet, both probably the best omelettes we've ever eaten. Bill, the owner has done a super job: ambiance (beach chic), very interesting, mouth watering combinations of fresh ingredients, as comfortable as home, love the leather chairs! Outside dining, bloody mary's with skewers of veggies, terrific coffee drinks...it's the go-to place for breakfast, brunch or lunch! A destination for sure!

We're staying in Stinson for the week and finally had a chance to check the place out. Kinda weird that you have to order at the counter before sitting at a table cuz we felt like we were in the way. The service was fantastic and speedy. I could spot the owners asap, so I was trying to eavesdrop. My biggest question is why no website? I found out that they are the same owners as the Sand Dollar across the street. Anyway, the food was pretty good. We had the Carne Asada nachos, which I'd call different than what we've had before: flour tortilla chips, jack cheese, black beans, & beef. My husband had the Carne Asada tacos which didn't appear to be your average Carne Asada, as the pieces are normally smaller and different cut of beef. My daughter had the Carne Asada burrito without the salsa Rojas on top. She thought there was too much rice. I ordered the #1 Enchiladas off the breakfast menu. It was 2 corn tortillas with potatoes, covered with 2 sunny side eggs, jack cheese, and bacon. Loved it. Full bar, but we had beer on tap. My daughter enjoyed the hibiscus iced tea. All the locals were there and everyone knew each other. Very friendly atmosphere. The young lady and young man at the register were very helpful. We'll get here for dinner once before we leave, thats for sure! ;-)
