Review from Daniel B.
We had some Breadwinner sweet breads sent to our office as a gift and they were amazingly delicious. If it wasn't for the card that was included with the breads, I wouldn't have known they came from Breadwinner.
A local business, Breadwinner specializes in gourmet sweet breads and has been featured by The Food Network, the Today Show, and Good Morning America. Their sweet breads resemble pound cakes in both size and appearance. We had two 2-pound loaves sent to our office. All of Breadwinner's breads have interesting names. The ones we tried were:
1. Frankly, My Dear, I Don't Give a Cran - Cranberry orange bread
2. Better Than a Bubble Bath - Mocha chocolate chip bread
Both were moist and incredibly rich and flavorful. I was impressed. I'm not a big fan of chocolate, but I couldn't get enough of the mocha chocolate chip bread. This bread contained chocolate, coffee, and toffee. The chocolate chips were delectable and every bite of the cake was enjoyable.
The cranberry orange bread had a citrusy blend of flavors. The bread itself had a distinct orange taste to it and was infused with fresh and ripe cranberries. It had a good balance of sweet and tart.
Both of these breads were pretty awesome. Now I want to try Breadwinner's other breads. -

A friend and I met for lunch here today @ 12:30 and it was CUH-RAY-ZEEE! This cafe is located in a shopping center in Sandy Springs. I would say it's about medium- not small but not huge. There are a few other eating places and some service places- like dry cleaners...There was no place to park. People were parking in the lot of a closed down Target across the street. The line for the cafe was coming out the door. The owner?/manager? had to keep ushering people to snake the line inside to preserve the ac on this warm day. Didn't work to well- it was pretty warm with all the people too...So as I understand it- this is a sandwich, soup and salad place. They make everything in house. There is a coldcase full of different homemade soups and few types of dips side salads ready to take home. The sandwiches look picturesque and delicious cut in halves stack on one another on pedestals behind glass on the main counter. I could have ordered a half of each to take with me. Instead I got the caprese half, beet and blue salad and penne pasta salad as part of the apparently infamous $10 lunch combo. The penne pasta was just another pasta salad- nothing exciting. The Caprese sandwich was delish- pesto, creamy mozz and tomato. And the mixed greens beet salad was okay. I would probably go for a whole caprese sandwich next time and skip the salads. . .While we were sitting and eating someone came around with a nice sized sample of their lemon poppy bread/cake. It was tasty.
Overall- I would come back again for lunch when it's slower. It was a little too hectic at 12:30...But would be great for a soup and sandwich- maybe on a cooler day.
Nicely decorated space with seating outside as well. -

Great little shop! Loved this place; I can't say enough about it.
Excellent service, it felt like we were visiting someone's home for lunch. Atmosphere is a smaller version of Panera, only homey-er.
I got the lunch special which came with portions of salad (had beets, and I usually hate beets, but it was excellent!), soup (got the homemade chicken soup and OMG, it was to die for) and a sandwich (corned beef was YUM!)
I was being bad, so, I tried the homemade lemonade, and mixed it with their brewed tea and foodgasm. Great place; a must-try for lunch if you can make it all the way to Sandy Springs. -

This place is quite near my work, so it's nice to stop for lunch with coworkers. I like being able to get a soup, a salad and half a sandwich or if that is not to my liking a soup, a salad and another salad. There are so many combinations it would be hard not to satisfy everyone. During peak lunch hours, it does get crowded, so you will wait at the counter to order your food and you may not have a choice of where to sit. It also does get loud, as others have mentioned. It's very casual, so my coworker tells me she stops with the family after soccer on Saturdays for a fresh meal.
I believe I got the blue beet salad, the Greek salad and a veggie sandwich. Oh, and a giant chocolate chip cookie. All were good - the cookie and the beet salad were the best. I was satisfied when I left but not uncomfortable. -

I stopped in to pick up some goodies for dinner and was really pleased with what I found at Breadwinner. It was way too hot to cook so some sandwiches and gazpacho seemed like a good choice, and I was right to choose Breadwinner to provide the goods.
They've got a decent selection of soups waiting in the cooler, ready to go, and they're all marked with whether or not they're vegan and/or gluten free. Easy peasy. The sandwiches are all sliced and out on display as well, which was a smidge bit disconcerting given the hour of the day. Had they been sitting out since noon? I hope not. Especially for the pimento cheese.
I chose the caprese, and even though I didn't eat it until several hours later, it was quite good and very flavorful. The bread was definitely the highlight: super soft and fluffy. I also got some broccoli salad that was very good, if a little heavy on the sauce.
Service was friendly, prices were reasonable, and they've got a nice little setup here. I'd happily return for lunch in or another to-go order, no doubt.Listed in: Sammiches., Strip Mall Surprises, Sandy Springs/ Chastain Park/…, Soup!

So I gave Breadwinners another try at lunch yesterday, and came away disappointed again. I grabbed two half sandwiches (a chicken special, and the corned beef) to go and neither were impressive, especially for a $10 lunch (without drink or sides). Neither had much meat in it, and I found myself adding sauces I had at home to add flavor.
Based on the other reviews (and the crowd at lunch) I feel like I'm missing something here. I get the impression I really need to try the soups.1 Previous Review: Show all »

The best tomato basil soup I've ever had! So flavorful and creamy, I had to keep telling myself not to think about how much heavy cream I was consuming and focus on the fresh basil and tomato waltzing with my pallate. The $10 lunch is a really good deal. Food is tasty and portions generous (she put a LOT of salad on my plate).
I love pumpkin bread and WOW. They make an amazing pumpkin bread!! So moist and delicious..it's the best pumpkin bread I've ever had. It's a little pricey @$15/loaf, but with the SweetJacks deal, it was a great find. -

Wanting something nicer than scavenging the leftovers in the fridge, but craving something light on account of the summer heat, and needing to be take-out to accommodate the little one, I used the BB Yelp app to find this place.
At noon on a Saturday, I left J and C in the car, and headed in to pick out two $10 lunch specials. For me, I picked the southwestern chicken salad half sandwich, the gazpacho soup, and the blue beet salad. For J, I got the California wrap, the grilled veggie salad, and the vichyssoise. The service was friendly, fast, and efficient. These ladies really kept the line moving. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes, and that was with 3 people in front of me.
I was most impressed by the soups and salads. My gazpacho had great zing and texture - just enough to be soup instead of salsa with a nice little kick! My blue beet salad (with candied walnuts, sliced beets, and blue cheese) was very flavorful, though a little heavy on the dressing. My southwestern chicken salad was good enough, but being dry, was the least impressive of my items. Based on the bites I got of J's lunch (and yes, of course, I also let him try mine), the vichyssoise was my favorite - so much potato and leek flavor! The grilled vegetable salad was a small portion (in a pre-packaged cup for the to-go crowd), but really tasted grilled (not always the case). His California wrap was somewhat flavorless to me, but I don't like turkey, and the combination of the flour wrap with the avocado meant a ball of gumminess in my mouth.
I could see myself eating here more often if I worked in the area, particularly for the soups and salads.

I decided to try this place for lunch today after reading Mary D's review.
The food was great, pricing is good, staff is friendly, free wifi, and lovely decor! I am in love! With the floating hearts and all!
I got the $10 lunch special. Which is a cup of soup, 1/2 sandwich, and half salad. I chose Turkey Chili for my soup, fabulous! It is a must try for sure! Southwestern Chicken Salad on a croissant for my 1/2 sandwich. It was good. I tried the Greek Salad as my salad, very good!
The food was awesome! I spent $15 for the lunch special, a drink, and a cookie. I was so full after eating that I couldn't eat my cookie.
The cafe has a lot of small tables. Even during the lunch rush tables stayed available. The staff quickly cleaned tables as people left. I ate while surfing the next on their wifi.
This is a place you must try! -

I just discovered this place on my most recent trek out to Hotlanta and I'm glad I did. It's very convenient for me and the lunch combo - sandwich and 2 side salads or soup and sandwich for $8 is just enough food to fill you up but not overwhelm the belly.
It's got plenty of parking since it's located in a strip mall but it's very loud so if you are with someone who has trouble hearing or want a quiet place to eat, get your food to go.
Really good pimiento cheese (as good as my own!) sandwiches. Get it toasted with tomato soup and you are good to go. Closed on Sundays. What a shame! -

Y'all. The pumpkin bread here is where it's at. "Oh really?" you say. "At $15 a loaf???" YES. The fresh ingredients and super moist consistency make it worth every penny. I also picked up a loaf of the chocolate chip and peach breads as holiday gifts and they didn't last long at all. If you don't want to make a trip to the cafe (though I would encourage it...very cozy), then you can also order the bread online.

I friggin' love this place. On the days I actually get to go OUT to lunch, this is my number one choice!
The Health Salad is amazing! I love to get it with the (unhealthy but delicious) pimento cheese sandwich (grilled) and the tomato soup.
The line is always out the door, but it moves somewhat quickly. For $10 you really can't do any better, especially for the high quality of the food.
If you go once, you'll be hooked and will look forward to your next meal there! -

I have a few vendors up in this area and always looking for new places to eat. Considering that Roswell Rd. between 285 and Johnson Ferry Rd. is one big clusterfuck, this isn't an easy task. Although I won't complain about the traffic when Double Zero Napoletana opens up. Back on topic, I am surprised I never heard of, or came across Breadwinner.
The place was mobbed, so obviously people know about it. I wouldn't touch any kind of bread at $15 a pop, so I didn't go near that no matter how good it is.
But I did have a caprese sammy, with a small side of orzo salad and a oreo whoopie pie. Everything was very good, the caprese tasted fresh and light, roma tomatoes with good flavor, a pesto that was a little too mild, and a good but not exceptional mozzarella. The bread was good. Overall though, I wish for the price it was a little bigger. The orzo salad was tasty but standard. I won't complain about the oreo whoopie pie but at $4, probably not worth it.
Overall, I spent $16 on lunch here without a drink, and it really didn't 'fill er up' (until I ate the oreo pie). So not much value going on here. However, everything was very good and the other non-chosen options also looked very good. You can't go wrong here but will be a little lighter in the wallet. -

My favorite lunch place. I love to get the lunch special with 3 choices: soup, salad and 1/2 sandwich for $10. It's enough for lunch and dinner! The soups are fabulous and the caprese sandwich served hot is even better. I wish I lived next door to eat there everyday.

So much to choose from, and everything looked so delicious. My roast beef sandwich was great, and my friend loved her meal too, but one of the nicest things about the place was just the laid-back atmosphere. Soccer moms and business men were in attendance enjoying the place. Love the silverware chandelier!

Oh. Wow. Praise all things holy. That includes Breadwinner.
My faves:
Party at My Place Pumpkin Bread (better than cake ... not joking)
Lemon Poppy-razzi (moist, delicious, citrus)
And the rest of the all-star line up:
Papa Don't Peach
Better Than a Bubble Bath Mocha Chocolate Chip Bread
Sweet Home Ala-banana
Frankly, My Dear, I Don't Give a Cran Cranberry Orange Bread
Shofar So Good Apple Honey
Houdini Zucchini Bread
Be Still My Beating Tart Lemon Blueberry Bread
Can't decide which loaves to buy (notice my use of the plural form of "loaf")? I feel your pain. Solution: purchase the Breadage a Trois! Pick your three favorite flavors -- all tied up in pretty little bows -- and take them home in a gift-ready box. Three's definitely not a crowd in this case.
I mean really, if the names don't speak for themselves, the breads most definitely will. -

One word...Whoa! (go Joey Lawrence!)
That's all I could think of when I took a bite out of the Party at my Place Pumpkin Bread! Seriously it was one of the best tasting pumpkin breads I have ever had...oh and the name was so cute! You can purchase Breadwinner at places like Metrofresh, but they recently opened up a location in the Sandy Springs area. Not only do they serve bread, but Souper Jenny soups by the quart! Tea and coffee is also available for those that can't wait to eat their bread at home!
This season bread selection:
Party at My Place, Pumpkin Bread (wheres the cream cheese!?)
Papa Don't Peach, Peach Bread (vanilla ice cream puh-lease!)
Better than a Bubble Bath, Mocha Chocolate Chip Bread
(need a scoop of peanut butter or perhaps some nutella and bananas!)
For those of you still looking for a cute Valentines Day Gift...they are making a Bread Box filled with your favorite bread, a vanilla candle, and vanilla bubble bath! Sure, you'll be locked out of the bathroom for awhile, but nothing is more sweeter than rest, relaxation, and carbs!Listed in: Forget The Twilight Zone...

Some of the best bread I've ever had. But oh is it expensive. For 15 dollars a loaf at full price... My god.
But once you try the pumpkin bread an the mocha chocolate chip bread... YOU KNOW it's worth it. I came here and tried out the pumpkin, cranberry orange, mocha chocolate, peach, and lemon poppy.
My favorites were definitely the pumpkin and mocha chocolate bread. The pumpkin bread literally had a perfect combination of cinnamon, pumpkin flavor, and sweetness. It had a great moistness to it, and as demonstrated by their sample section, the moistness stays even after the bread is cut up and placed in a bowl for hours. MOUTHGASM
The chocolate mocha bread wasn't super sweet (which is a plus for me) but it was super decadent and filled with semi sweet chocolate morsels,. YUM
My least favorite one was the peach bread. I didn't think the bread had enough of a peachy flavor to it. It definitely was loaded with peaches, but the tartness of the peach just didn't come through.
Overall, this place is the bomb. The only real con is that the bread is so expensive. Everyone should come here and at least buy a pumpkin bread to munch on. Remember, pumpkin isn't just for Thanksgiving =)Listed in: My Road Trip Across America

Papa don't peach and lemon poppy are delicious...but $15 for a loaf of bread? Really?
I do like their generous assortment of samples to help you choose - I ate about 2 days worth of calories just from sampling alone. This location is far from my house, but I found out that they have loaves available at Souper Jenny in Buckhead.
I wish they had slices available at cafes around Atlanta - being able to have a slice of their bread with a cup of coffee without driving to the Perimeter would be fabulous. -
Review from Vivian W.
I love the freshly baked breads, the loaf is always dense but soft and very moist and flavorful. My only wish is that they were cheaper, it's a little tough to indulge in them at $15 a pop. I really like the pumpkin loaf (Party at My Place Pumpkin) I bought the last time I was here. It's got a punch of pumpkin flavor with subtle spices and it made a pretty awesome breakfast for me all week. I love the decor here, and I would love to come back to try the $10 lunch specials I saw advertised. This place is def. going on my list. I'd love to come back for a sit down meal.

love this place! My 5 year old daughter and I go often and split the $10 lunch. We get the 1/2 grilled pimento cheese, cup of soup, and salad. It's plenty of food for both of us. The $10 lunch used to include a drink which was nice, but they stopped doing that. The soups are always nice and hot, and the salads fresh and delicious. The line moves quickly so don't let that stop you from trying it.

Their new location is very cool. It's got exposed brick and a nice seating area to sample coffees and try out their fantastic bread. From other recommendations we got the Pumpkin, peach, and Cranberry bread. All of which were fantastic. I had a sweet tooth that day like most and ended up getting all their dessert like stuff. Next time i need to sample their savory selections. I've heard their soups and sandwiches are awesome so I will definitely be making a stop here again.

Amazing breads, and addictive! We buy them for the house and I send to my clients as gifts throughout the year (the breads - which are more like cakes - and the way they are packaged/shipped make for a nice and differentiated gift). You can order thru http://breadwinnerbrea... if you don't live near the bakery.

Breadwinner has these crazy delicious breads. Their bread is so rich that it's almost cake-like. Dusted in sugar, with stuff like fruit and chocolate chips inside. Ahmagahhhh. I can only describe Breadwinner bread as like a cross between a poundcake and a muffin, but better.
My family's a fan of the Papa Don't Peach. It has a nice, mellow peach flavor that's distinctive without being too prominent. Little bits of peach inside, om nom nom.
My mother recently bought a loaf of Frankly, My Dear, I Don't Give a Cran. It's cranberry orange-flavored, and there are dried cranberries and candied orange inside. I'm addicted. The tartness of the cranberry and the citrusy zing of the orange is a winning combination. Try it; you won't be dissappointed.
Breadwinner also sells loaves at Souper Jenny's in Buckhead.
The only thing is that the bread's pretty expensive; $15 a loaf, $40 for three loaves. But it's worth it. -

Very yummy bread!!! I have gotten bread here once the chocolate one. This time they had bread bites for 4 dollars. It's more then a slice but less then a whole loaf which cost 15 dollars. The bread I got this time was the pumkin and the chocolate. I loved both of them. I even let a coworker try the pumkin bread and she loved it to.
