Tiny place but packs a lot of tastiness.
Good location by Columbus/Broadway.
They have Sun-dried tomato and veggie cream cheese, but not scallion or olive =(
But...Their salmon/lox is really good! Get it on an everything bagel! -

Seems there are two listings of this joint's one location on Yelp! Hmmmm! So I love this place. Appears to be not much more than a hole in the wall. The sandwich selections are fresh (I like veggie with avocado and hummus), soup selection is generous, pastries are delicious... They also offer great deals in the land of Daniel, Jean George and Per Se! At roughly $7 for a half sandwich and soup their deals rival Hale and Hearty or any other nearby lunch spots. There has never been a long wait when I've been and usually a free table in their outdoor seating section. Every time I'm hungry and in the neighborhood it's always my go-to spot.

We need more little sandwich shops like this in the neighborhood. Fresh, organic (?) ingredients and inexpensive prices for the UWS! It can get packed during lunch time so order your sandwich/soup and KEEP THE LINE MOVING buddy!!
Some of my favorites include the curry chicken (the spice is definitely not overwhelming), the chicken salad (a handful of dill to compliment it) and the grilled (charred) veggie sandwich. The other sandwiches are good too however sometimes I'm not looking for the "deli meat" taste.
Nice large chunks of chicken with the sandwiches. They load up all the of them. Oh, and the soups are freshly made and have that "homey" feel. -

I really like this place -- soups and sandwiches are fresh and delicious -- and the employees treat you very well when you're a regular (they give me a discount!)... This is easily my second favorite location for sandwiches and soups in the area, there's really just no comparing with Whole Foods a couple blocks down, but the friendliness of the employees here really earns it lots of bonus points!
I don't allow myself to eat here too often, because it's definitely not very cheap... I'm always satisfied with my dining experiences each and every time I come -- it's my favorite spot for spending my lunch break, sitting down at one of the small tables out front, watching the masses of vehicles and pedestrians pass-by.
My recommendations: curry chicken sandwich on raisin bread, turkey and ham with avocado on olive loaf, grilled cheddar cheese with baon and tomato and dijon mustard, grilled chicken pesto mozzarella and roasted pepper on ciabatta, grilled chicken breast with avodado tomato onion Jarlsberg cheese and chipotle sauce on ciabatta, tomato eggplant soup, vegetarian jambalaya, carrot walnut bread.Listed in: My Upper West

5-Stars if Based Only on the Thai Curry Chicken Sandwitch with Raison Bread.
I discovered Breadsoul Cafe, a tiny hole in the wall with covered outdoor seating right near Lincoln Plaza Cinemas (the best place to catch foreign films), and their Thai Curry Chicken sandwich years ago. I went back this year with Deborah H. only to discover that the sandwich was JUST as good.
The sandwiches are deceiving. At first they don't look like anything special, especially since they're wrapped up in your mama's good old tucked-away-in-the-back-of-the-kitchen-cabinet-dra wers saran wrap. They also don't look big, but you'll be hardpressed to finish an entire one. Therefore, I suggest taking up their half sandwich / half soup deal. The soup flavors alternate on a daily basis. The best one I've had is the coconut milk soup that Deborah H. describes.
The sandwiches here beat any food that AMC Lincoln Square IMAX Theater and Lincoln Plaza Cinemas have to offer, so I often find myself bringing Breadsoul's treats in with me when catching a flick.
Breadsoul accepts credit cards with no minimum spending limit. They also have one of my favorite drinks, Orangina.

Looks like another small, dinky place, but the MUFFINS and BREADS (i.e. Carrot Walnut bread) are fantastic. You would never guess it by looking, but they're delcious. They're not super-sweet and taste more like they're homemade than what you would normally buy at a place like this. Coffee is not bad too (I've only had cafes au lait, but they've always been good), but it's from a paper cup. Sandwiches are good too. But try things like the tri-berry muffin and the banana and carrot walnut bread. Wonderful. Soups are great too (I had cream of Broccoli) Wholesome. Bravo, little humble Breadsoul!
(Near 63rd & Bway, on the east side of Broadway. Near Lincoln Plaza Cinemas. Not where the google map shows its location to be)

The curried chicken sandwich is deelishus. Chunks of chicken and curry powder with various unidentifiable crunchy vegetables sandwiched between whole wheat bread chock-full of raisins. Everything is pre-made and may not look the best, but it's fresh and tasty.
They had this one soup when I went. I have no idea what it was called, but it's a spicy vegetable soup with coconut milk. It's heavenly. -

Crowded, over priced and overrated. I've given this shop three chances and they have officially struck out.
Located right in the middle of Lincoln center the high price can be expected, but a certain quality should be expected to go along with. I've found their soups and sandwiches over flavored, (avoid the chicken salad, I reeked of dill for two days) and just trying to order and then make it the three feet to the register practically impossible with absolutely no coherent structure what so ever to their small shops design.
I could understand a store demanding high prices for simple sandwiches if they had the clout to back it up, but their is no good reason people are piling in this tiny space to throw money at them. My advice? Walk a few extra blocks in any direction and try someplace else. -

The bread is always soggy because they don't dry the lettuce before they make the sandwiches. The soup is, well nothing interesting. I'm always dissappointed when I get food from here. For the same price you can go to Whole Foods and choose from 2x as many soups that taste better and get half sandwiches for the same price.
Lunch from here makes me sad. -

Breadsoul is one of my favorite lunchtime spots. I don't really do their cold sandwiches....but their paninis....OH the PANINIS!
Most of the time I get the tomato/mozzarella/pesto, but am experienced enough in the menu to be able to recommend the chicken chipotle, turkey/brie, and BACON CHEDDAR varieties. Their soup is usually spot-on...the chicken noodle and Italian wedding stand out as my favorites, though I've heard raves about their mulligatawny (sp? sorry!)
As for the baked goods, it's hit or miss. BUT if they have POUND CAKE when you visit, do yourself a favor and pick up a slice of that. Heaven.
They also have a good variety of sodas (including Boylan) and snacks (reduced fat cape cod chips).
It gets crowded during the lunchtime hours, but the service is still fast and friendly. You should just be prepared to be plastered against a wall for a few minutes while your sandwich is on the grill. -

I live in the area and am happy to have found this place. there aren't many great bodegas around Lincoln center so I think Breadsoul will become our go-to for a cheap / quick bite to eat. the chicken pesto panini is outrageous, fruit has been fresh and tasty every time I got it. The curry chicken salad had great flavor, but the chicken was dry. I love the mini-clamshell salads they have. coffee is good as are the bagels. But I don't think they do eggs, which is disappointing.
yes, there's not a HUGE selection, but what did you expect when you saw the size of the place? good quality for your cash and great people watching if you can snag a table outside. -

Sandwich yummy and fresh, but a bit dry and not cheap.

I made the mistake of not making dinner reservations before a Saturday night opera, and every restaurant in a 3-block radius of Lincoln Center had a wait of 30 minutes or more. So I decided to give Breadsoul Cafe a try, and what a HUGE disappointment! I got the chicken pesto panini and some baked goods to snack on during intermission. The paninis were still cold in the middle! Nevermind the fact that we saw them get nuked instead of properly rewarmed on a press. I will say though that the taste was decent. And then came intermission time when we broke out the oatmeal raisin cookie. Not only did it not taste like an oatmeal raisin cookie, but it had absorbed the grease smells of the place and had clearly been sitting there for a while! It was the WORST cookie I have ever tasted, and the first time it was so bad that I threw the rest away after the initial bite. The 3-berry scone we ate the next morning was also pretty horrendous.
As for the staff, I guess Saturday night they're not at their best after a long day's work, but I didn't find them to be in the least bit friendly. I'm never going back. -

I heart this place for cheap food in the Lincoln Center area. The sandwiches are always thick and filling, although a bit dry, which is why you get the soup and sandwich combo! I've only ever had their Chicken Noodle, but it comes out steaming hot and not too salty. I hate places that oversalt their soups to trick people into thinking it has "flavor"; the food here definitely doesn't taste processed or factory in any way. The service has always been fast even when there's a long line, and if you can snag one of the tables outside, it's a great place to eat before a show. You'll even occasionally catch glimpses of Juilliard kids (identifiable by their unearthly bodies and stage make up).

overpriced pre-made sandwiches. while the lincoln center area has very limited dining options (i should know, i work around there), going to this place is a travesty. NY is known for its great food, and this place is NOT one of them. it saddens me when my co-workers go here to eat. granted, their options are limited, but still... it's freakin NY! you dont' eat a pre-made sandwich. sigh...

Not sure I can categorize this as a deli, as you're limited to the selections on the menu. Anyway, the salads are great and I love the curried chicken sandwich. There seems to be high turnaround as the sandwiches are always fresh although wrapped up in a not altogether appetizing fashion. The people behind the counter are a bit brusque, but they are efficient.

OK, I order from this place several times a month and the staff still have not warmed up to me. During my last visit the person behind me on line ordered the exact same panini as me and received hers before me, hmmmm? Maybe I need to put a little extra in the tip jar to make sure I get served before staff favorites. That said, the paninis are good but the soups are always too salty for my taste. The decaf coffee is always a disappointment and they use spread rather than butter on their bagels. The search continues for a decent lunch at a reasonable price near Lincoln Center

This is a good place to grab a quick bite before a matinee at the Lincoln Center. My curry chicken sandwich was great, but J's turkey and brie panini was pretty boring (they forgot to add the lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard). The coffee is very tasty, but skip the Kahlua bar.
